Called at The Bell yesterday for the first time in over 30 years for an evening meal with my wife and the place was really busy . We were told that there may be a wait for food as they had a really big party in along with other customers but we were not in a rush so it didn't really matter to us. The one party was large, around 25 people, but we had no wait for our drinks to be served and our meal order to be taken. Our starters were with us within fifteen minutes, we've waited far longer in places that were a lot less busier! Our main meal to our surprise came about ten minutes after we had finished our starters, so hats off to all the staff at The Bell. The food was very good and the staff were very polite and apologetic for the "delay" with our food........what delay ??? there was none, we will definitely be returning, couldn't fault the service or staff.

This lovely warm and welcoming Black Country pub, serving Holdens beer, is a delight. The staff are cheerful, friendly and efficient, the choice of food and drinks varied and tasty, and the standard of food is always excellent and served piping hot. We usually visit between Wednesday and Friday lunchtime so that we can have 2 meals for £15 from the special menu. The portions are ample, well cooked and delicious. The main menu is also varied if you prefer, although obviously more expensive than the lunch menu. Highly recommended.

went tody after booking for 2 for Sunday lunch, was given a table right by the door for 4 people was so disappointed thought we was in a canteen ,waitress came to ask what drink we would like ask for a drinks menu said we have not got one only what you could see at bar so both just opted for a larger ,when would of liked a bottle wine or cocktail, didn't want to be fussy felt very uncomfortable so asked if could be moved to a more snug and comfortable table as this was our 35th wedding anniversary was looking for a different atmosphere than my first reaction of being in a canteen after debating was offered another table for four again but so much better thanks to the waitress, could not fault our Sunday lunch opted for the 3 meats very nice offered more roasters aswell as yourshire puddings nice touch 😀 very filling ,extension seems like a canteen would return maybe 🤔

Wednesday to Friday from 12 till 2pm its 2 meals for £15 & I can honestly say they are fantastic, I had the roast of the day which included 2 large slices of turkey, peas, swede, Brussel sprouts, new potatoes n the holy grail of roast potatoes n really was just enough while the wife had scampi with peas tartare sauce & a generous helping of chips washed down with a chardonnay & a pint of black country special all for less than £23 ..... absolute bargain 👌

Came here for a meal with friends. When one of our friends booked it, he mentioned that one of our party was in a wheelchair. As we arrived we were taken to our table and a space had been left for a wheelchair- this shows that they care. Fortunately we didn't need the space as the person was able to walk. It was a beautiful ,large and comfortable farm house style table. We ordered our drinks and they were brought to us by a lovely waitress. Then our food order, 2 meals for £15 - great value . 3 fish and chips, 1 roast dinner and 2 liver and onions( from the main menu). The portions were fantastic- really well presented and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere in the place was very relaxed with great background music. Would we go again? Most definitely. The total cost for 6 was less than £75- great value in a great pub. We couldn't thank the waitress enough. Thank you so much.

Went for lunch but was terribly disappointed, ordered from the garden menu the chicken wings with hot sauce, when it came to table the chicken was deep fried to destruction and at best it was a bone picking exercise to find any meat on the bones at all and a whopping £8 for a portion of said bone I left feeling totally ripped off, on complaining was just told my comments would be passed on. Won't be going back there for any food that's for certain

We hadn’t visited for food for a while as the quality had really gone down but tried Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. It was nice but we thought the portion size to be a bit small so not value for money. We popped in again today and had a lovely roast, much larger portions and the introduction of a hot meat cob served with roast potatoes and gravy. Give them a try.

Right at the outset we were greeted by a smiling and delightful waitress, Sarah, who let us choose where we wanted to sit. The fantastic food was perfectly cooked, served piping hot and there was an excellent choice of dishes too. We were spoilt for choice but I settled on the daily roast, which was turkey, & hubby chose the liver and bacon dish. They were both delicious. We extended our visit by giving in to our craving for a slice of moist Victoria sponge and a creamy cappuchino for dessert. This wasn't our first visit and it certainly won't be our last. A warm welcome is always guaranteed! Give it a try!

The new landlady has just taken over after doing a very good job bringing up the Pigot in Pattingham. Went for a Sunday lunch in the restaurant which was superb. Three courses, all good, served promptly and clearly made from fresh produce. The restaurant is a lovely setting, as is the village. Before this, we tried their lite bites in the lounge on a Tuesday. The cobs were really fresh and we've also tried their chef's menu - freshly made fish pie, which was great. Don't understand the previous reviews. They must have gone to a different pub, or possibly hadn't actually gone.

We sat in the small bar side where all ‘regulars’ seem to sit (my wife said the toilets smelt) I asked the barman where Lorraine and Steve were and his answer was “they were binned off” seemed strange. We had nearly finished our drinks, and overheard the staff talking to the customers about a new manager who is now sacked for having drug parties in the pub. What has this place turned into? Visited the newly refurbished Holdens Pub on 21 July 2020. We booked a table but on arrival chose to sit outside in the rear garden. Very impressed with the staff following the correct safety procedures. Currently operating on a reduced menu basis. I am vegetarian and thought the limited choices were not that appealing. I chose the vegetable tagine and my friend chose the faggots and peas meal. Beer choice was a cheap version of Peroni which did not taste too good. We asked the waitress if Matt was still the Chef and were informed he had now left the pub. On arrival our chips were already drowned in salt which is not great for my friend who does not like any salt on her chips!! She found the faggots were also very salty. I found the same with my vegetable tagine.Later on that evening and when l woke up the next morning l could still taste salt and felt more thirsty than usual which is not great!Previous to the refurb we visited this pub on a regular basis will not be returning again!

Lovely We had food from the bar menu ... there is a big restaurant but they were pretty full up and we had not booked so sat in the lounge bar I had the fish and chips ...freshly cooked and spot on .my good lady had the Scampi and Chips( Friday of course.)I nicked one,got told off but it was worth it .What impressed us was that they we’re clearly busy but the service and welcome was warm and friendly , something that was sadly missing with the previous people. We will be back .we will book next time to get in the restaurant...and I may just have to change my route home to have that Bitter again .Well done good job keep it up .

We went this evening fo(four adults) The food was fantastic we had steak - cooked as desired. We also had fish and chips. The food was that good we couldn't resist the pudding! Rum and raisin ice-cream. Fruit crumble and brownie and ice-cream all were lovely. The second drinks order was a little long coming but a lovely appology given for the wait.We were waited on by 2 young ladies both were really helpful friendly and polite - even having to wear those masks and working hard there was still a warm welcome. Well done everyone we will return very soon.

I went for lunch with a few friends, ordered some sandwiches the bread was very dry and stale, the salad was disgusting all limp and had seen better days.one of my friends ordered the belly pork which was supposed to be slow cooked but had been just put under the grill as it was very chewy!I will not be eating there again, good luck to those who do.The staff are very friendly but other than that its nothing to shout about.

I didn’t know what to expect before I arrived new people running it and a new chef but was not disappointed booked for a party of 7 of us. Table service was prompt well organised and very friendly. Pint of Holden’s Golden Glow was great and the food was excellent. The place has had a needed refurb which looks fantastic Good luck to Lauren and Morgan with The Bell brilliant start for you.

As a family we often eat at The Bell; the prices are very reasonable, there is a good selection on the menu and we have never had cause for complaint either with the food or the service.

Sadly disappointed tonight ( 8-2-2020 ) as this place is not up to the standard of five or six years ago. The staff tried but seemed unable to cope. The food is definitely not of the quality that we experienced on past visits and the lighting is far to harsh, almost clinical not cosy and welcoming.Back to the food, the best I can say is that our dogs enjoyed the steaks when we got home.Apparently due for refurbishment this month according to notices by the bar.

Booked a 70th birthday meal for twin sisters for the 22 nd Feb and have found out tonight from a relative that the the pub is closing on the 17th Feb for alterations, they had no intentions to notify us 27 people due to attend, is this the way holdens treat their customers absolutely a disgrace,

3 of us went there for a meal, you can not fault the meal or the value for money. Always a nice atmosphere.

We visited The Bell 11/01, 7 of us in total. This is hopefully a constructive review that will help them be better next time. The food that we had was great, apart from a steak that had to be sent back (the replacement was fine). The rest of the evening was as if it was opening night. We had multiple people try to take food orders and drink orders; as if not talking to each other or owning different sections. When new drinks were brought out, our old glasses were left, leaving around 15 glasses on the table at one time along with our plates. We then ordered dessert, which I assume they forgot to put through as after 20 minutes I had to ask how long they would be; with a girl disappearing to find out for another 10 minutes. All this could have probably been avoided had the waitresses not been chatting to a group of lads at the bar most of the night. Overall 3/10 - employ staff who have worked in the industry before and you should be fine

Great traditional pub and modern restaurant on the other side. The waiting staff and bar staff are Lovely and the food is always amazing, only problem is you shouldn’t have to teach them how to pour a pint of Guinness!! Everyone knows it should rest first before finishing pouring. Just a bit of a heads up for the boss, just to train the staff a little bit better

Saturday 8th July. Had planned a trip especially from north wales. Always been on my bucket list. Checked website and Facebook page. Sorry to hear about the break in. Information stated should be open again 6th or 7th July. Tried to phone before visit to check if open. No answer. Should've been open 8th but no updates or information. Arrived at 12:15. Five cars parked by locked gate. Nobody knew What was happening. Walked down the lane. Fantastic house. Unfortunatly we had a wasted trip. Blackboard outside 'closed until further notice' people arriving after us who we informed they were closed. Had we known we wouldn't have wasted a journey.

Popped for lunch after dog walking. A good selection of choices on the menu and a lovely atmosphere in this canalside pub. Dogs are welcome - there's a couple of dog-free areas as well - and this makes a good spot for refreshments (or more) after walking along the canal towpath. We'll definitely be back!

Went for dinner and had another enjoyable meal. The fillet steak was fantastic and cooked perfectly. Maybe should have avoided so much peppercorn sauce as it distracted from the flavour of the steak. However, a brilliant meal and will always return!
