We booked Sunday lunch after reading reviews on here & we weren’t disappointed. My Wife thinks it’s over 12 months since she enjoyed a Sunday lunch out. Jayne was rushed off her feet, bless her, but attended to everyone in turn & never lost her polite composure. We both enjoyed the roast beef dinner with 7 different vegetables, all cooked to perfection, with Yorkshire pudding to boot. The portion was large enough that we were able to plunder our plates to save a dinner for our very well behaved dog for later. Jayne even gave us some extra gravy for the dog’s dinner. We then enjoyed the damson crumble with custard and I had their home made rum & raisin ice cream. With 2 drinks each & under £55, well impressed & will visit again when in the area.

Myself and my girlfriend visited for some food which was of exceptional quality. Along with the food we found the atmosphere to be so friendly and welcoming. Live music was also a pleasant suprise. We seriously can’t recommend this place enough. I wish Jane and Andre the very best for the future and thank them for such a pleasant experience.

Called in as three non bookers on a Friday evening in the hope of getting a table .No problem, and we sat in a charming conservatory at the rear of the building. We all ordered different dishes, including a very nice sharing starter of olives and dipping bread .All of which were well presented and delicious. Quality products cooked by someone who obviously knew what they were doing. Staff so attentive and our waitress in particular was a joy to interact with, so friendly and accommodating. We all thoroughly enjoyed our experience, and would have no hesitation in recommending The Cropthorne Bell , to a anyone looking for excellent food and first class service.

We came across this pub by chance when we visited the Flower Fields at Pershore & this pub was just a 5-10 minute drive away. Inside the pub is a mix of old & new. The main pub area has bags of olde worldy charm whereas the conservatory/dining area has modern features & allows for far more natural light. Although there was only one man serving we did not have to wait too long for our food which was of an exceptionally high standard. The menu was small but varied and included steak, scallops, cod & home made burgers as well as chef specials of the day. The medium rare sirloin steak I had was cooked to perfection. If ever I found myself in this neck of the woods again I would have no hesitation in returning to this pub for food & drinks.

I cannot recommend this brilliant pub enough. We had an exceptional meal to celebrate my 50th birthday. The food, service and hospitality were second to none and all 12 of us absolutely loved our afternoon. The service was attentive but not in your face, and Jane and her team couldn't have worked harder before the day, during our time there and after. Nothing was too much trouble. What a gem! Thankyou!

We have driven past the Bell many times on our way to somewhere, so today we decided to stop and check it out. What a delight ! A wonderfully warm reception; a new drink produced locally; and an excellent lunch whilst they catered for a local club’s AGM. Just a quick update to my review from April: The Cropthorne Bell is still awesome. I was lucky to find them open on a Monday, catering for another group, so I booked in and took a couple of friends who appreciate a good pub meal. Food was amazing as usual - the calves' liver enjoyed by one of my friends was excellent, a couple of us had the veal, which was done to perfection, and my partners home-made burger was also great. I started with some rollmop herrings, which were fabulous. The single ale was perfectly kept, and there was an excellent selection of ciders. Nice to see they're still maintaining high standards!

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I must say, I'm posting this review reluctantly: I don't want The Bell to get too busy, because I will definitely be back. The food is excellent, in a whole different league to regular pub fayre. If it wasn't so plentiful, robust, and unfussy, I'd say it was a "gastronomic experience" - but that kinda language is for places with fancy hipster staff and too many coffee choices. The Bell appears as a regular country locals pub, but it disguises the master (Andre) at work behind the scenes. His unfussy style of cooking, with superb local ingredients, really sets this place apart from - well - pretty much any other country pub I've been to for AGES... and I've been to a LOT. I had Scallops to start - one of my favourite seafoods - and so easy to get wrong. I'm regularly disappointed in the little rubbery defrosted nuggets usually served: However, these were excellent! Fresh, soft, delicate, and cooked to perfection. My partner went for the duck to start, which was fantastic: Delicately smoked, and very tasty - and served with a salad featuring local Cob Nuts. For main, she chose the Bream, sourced from Brixton via the epic Birmingham fish market. The quality showed, and it was a cracking bit of fish. I had the Mousakka: Again, something that many places don't get quite right (even the Greeks!) - in my murky past, I worked for a Greek Cypriot Chef who was an absolute master at good solid Greek home cooking - but he has ruined my experience of Greek food ever since (especially in the UK) by raising the bar to a very high standard. Happily, The Bell has met with my pretentious love of Greek cuisine and produced the best Mousakka I've had since Mike's. The staff (especially Jane) are wonderfully welcoming, and the single cask ale very well kept. There's a fabulous cask cider as well! Decor is very much old-school country locals pub, so there's not much room for that Michelin star anyway. Who needs one of those when everything is just spot on. Yep, will definitely be back! If the quality of ingredients is consistent, it's got to be steak next time...

Visited The Cropthorne Bell for the first time today with my wife and daughter. We popped in with the intention of having a quick bite to eat-but ended up staying for 2 hours and having starters, mains and desserts-drinks and coffee! Was the best Sunday roast we have had in a pub for years-Andre clearly cares about the food he prepares and serves-so much attention to detail-my wife is GF-and they were really accommodating-serving GF mint sauce, mustard + Yorkshire Puds Nut Roast etc, Coffee served in proper cafetière-Apparently Andre has worked around the world as a chef-and it is absolutely evident in the delicious food served. Jane was super friendly and attentive from the 1st minute-thank you very much both! We live in Brum but will definitely make the effort to come back! Rob, Jen n Lil x

After our first trip today we already can't wait to go back! The service is fabulous and the couple who run the pub are lovely. We couldn't fault the service or food and really enjoyed the experience with our family and little one. The pub feels homely and cosy, a proper traditional pub. As a gluten free diner the service for this was refreshing, they make you feel reassured and can offer nearly everything gluten free as they make everything fresh. They recommend booking in and are even happy to take requests! We would highly recommend and can't wait to go back soon for a Sunday lunch next time.

My Sister in Law and Brother live in California but despite the distance they had found this wonderful gastropub local to us and bought us a gift voucher to use at the Bell. Lovely reception when we arrived and we were looked after by Jane's (one of owners) daughter who was excellent and attentive. We had the scallops to start and pheasant as main course. The chef is very talented (we assume Andre) and the music mix seemed to have been chosen especially for us. So often music is too loud or intrusive (this wasn't) and we found ourselves trying to remember who made the music famous and when. On leaving we met Jane and Andre who have an excellent flexible business with quality food, beautifully cooked at a very attractive price. You really should try it !

Been numerous times since we found this little gem about 9 months ago. Excellent home cooked food, I emphasise the home cooked, because you can easily tell the difference. Tasty, flavoursome, plentiful, good food, with attentive staff. I cant understand though why this place is not packed. When you see other pubs localish, very busy, most of the time, and this is not, it is a shame. It deserves to be busy, because the venue, food, and service, is great. My only advice would be to make the outside more appealing for passing cars, large colourful flower pots, for example, as this might help getting people through the doors.

Last year my husband and I called in at The Bell for lunch on the way home to Derby from Stratford. It was a last minute decision and on pulling up in the car park to be fair I expected an average type of pub meal. How wrong could I have been the choice of food was amazing. I had homemade Cullen Skink with French bread which was to die for followed by scallops with lemon and parsley. The scallops were the freshest and plumpest I have ever tasted and were cooked to perfection. My husband had chicken sandwiches made from a freshly cooked chicken breast. Great to see the owners chatting with new and regular customers abd Sam at the var is very knowledgable and effcient. Excellent choice of craft and branded drinks inc soft drinks. First visit we went for Pate and thai Fishcakes from the specials. Large pot of really good homemade pate. Large portion of fishcakes with great dressing and full of flavour. Steak and Gammon were the main courses and beatuifully cooked with lots of sides inc some wonderful beer battered onion rings and heavily garlicked mushrooms. Still managed to squeeze in desserts of Crumble and Banofe pie both excellent in taste. Our return visit on 10th feb was yet again excellent all rpund and this time we both tried the Calamari with an amazing alioli. For main course we were spoilt for choice with Pheasant, Vension on the specials and seeing the gigantic fish and chips go out to another table. But we went for the Chicken burger and the Gammon. Struggled to squeeze a dessert in but the Black Forest cake was calling and i just had to go with it. Perfectly flavoured and a huge portion. Total value for money, good portions and cosy relaxed setting with great staff on duty. Thankyou and looking forward to our next visit.

A very warm welcome from the landlady plenty of seating available. Good variety of meals on the menu as well as the specials board. I had a beef burger and the chips were to die for and I’m not normally bothered with them. My mom had pork fillet in cider and apple sauce with garlic potatoes - it was stunning!

We hadn't visited since the latest couple took over - encouraged by TripAdvisor reviews. Initially the temperature was a bit chilly - sorted out very quickly by turning the heating up and starting a roaring log fire. Traditionalish pub decor with stylish paintwork and some nice decorative touches. The owners are very welcoming. The menu had both good value bar food as well as a very tempting more expensive main menu. Off the posh menu the oxtail was fantastic and the sole was top class, but let down by overcooked veggies. Plates were not hot (always a source of annoyance). Certainly good enough to be worth another visit, especially as there were many dishes we wanted to try.

Living locally, we visit the local pubs for meals out on a regular basis. This is one of the pubs that we have frequented a fair few times over the years, but have to admit, that since Jane and Andre took over, this is now the one that we return to more than the others.A wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, fantastic hosts and a sympathetically renovated pub. It is clean, fresh and cosy with wonderful food.Andre is just the most superb chef - we have not had a bad meal since we have been going here, in fact most of the dishes are now all time favourites. The menu is not extensive, but there is always something that you fancy and if the dish is not quite to your taste then they adapt it to suit your palate. They have a specials menu, that uses seasonal and local produce and offers something a bit different.Highly recommend a visit - you won’t be disappointed.

Bizarrely, I'd probably give a more favourable review if the staff were less attentive. It was difficult to get a mouthful of food down between being asked if everything was ok. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was asked a dozen times if my food was ok. Aside from that, we went on a Sunday and the Sunday menu was had by all. I was told the chicken was very fatty and I don't even how you'd manage that. Nothing about the food served to me (beef) amazed or disappointed me. Decent ale selection, didn't try the wines. Enjoyed my time there to a point, but won't hurry back.

My Mum and brother were visiting the area and I promised my Mum a belated Sunday lunch. Looking for options in or around Pershore for families as I have two young children this one stood out. I was able to book a table over the phone easily enough.Upon arrival our booking was quickly confirmed and we were shown to our table, the drinks order was taken quickly and menus provided. Good beer (Purity - Mad Goose). We ordered our food all opting for Sunday roasts, they do small sizes for children and even a small adult portion which was ideal for my Mum as she's not a big eater. The kids & my Mum had chicken, and the rest of us had beef or lamb. Unusually those of us having beef or lamb were also asked as to how we wanted our meat, i.e. well done to rare, which is unusual with a roast as you usually just get it how ever it comes. The food arrived promptly and met expectations, I'd arrived feeling pretty ravenous having earlier completed the Worcester 10k Run so the three thick slices of beef along with roast spuds, roast veg and a decent yorkie were very welcomed. The roasts came with a generous bowl of veg (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and unusually chard) and some mashed swede, plenty to go around. The food was very good and filling, just what I was after! My only criticisms, and they're small ones, is that despite having plenty of food I'd have liked a few more roast potatoes mostly because I love them, two seems a bit stingy perhaps, and my wife said she would have liked a bit more gravy, maybe a jug of it on the side. Like I say though these were minor things and really didn't spoil the meal. During the meal we were asked a few times if we were enjoying the food / if everything was ok, perhaps a bit too much but then I'd rather it this way round than being ignored! We finished the mains and ordered some desserts, again excellent, all home made with a choice of custard, cream or ice cream. The kids wanted ice cream and the pub stocks an excellent selection from the local Churchfields ice cream farm with a separate menu for the ice cream flavours. Really full after a rhubarb crumble and some rather good custard.Really enjoyed the meal and I'm sure we'll be back. Good service, friendly staff / owners and very good value too.

We originally visited this establishment just after the new owners had taken over. This was our much belated return visit. Bit disappointed that it wasn't very busy as it deserves to be. Welcomed by a very pleasant young man behind the bar who also took our order from a very good menu. Small but well appointed menu with several local game dishes to choose from. Service was good and food was well presented. We both chose the Sunday roast of local sourced beef. Generous helpings of meat and vegetables. Starters and desserts were also home made and delicious. Two drawbacks for me was they no longer stock my favourite Doom Bar and on entering the bar was very cold but as soon as I mentioned the open fire was lit for me. Definitely another visit in the future.

Best food I've had at a local pub in years. Yes you may have to wait when they're busy but it's so worth it. Everyone in our large party was impressed with their meal and we can't wait to return. Hope your offering Christmas menu or maybe even Christmas day menu? The atmosphere is cosy and comfortable, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming well done for bringing the bell inn back to fabulous and better. Cannot wait to return.

The food here is above average and there is a good choice. However, the service was diabolically bad. After 30 minutes waiting for starters two had to be asked for after another five minutes as they had completely forgotten them, and after another long wait the main courses arrived. OK - it was a busy weekend - but where were the extra staff? It's a shame that this happened as the food is so good, but I will not be returning.

Enjoyed a midweek meal here with my wife for her birthday all very nice Food cooked to order and all came back as ordered a rarity nowadays.I would have given them 5 stars but for 2 slip ups, 1/ when serving cold drinks apply a beer mat underneath or you have a wet table and 2/ when serving a basket of garlic bread ( nicely presented) don't forget the plates that go with it, we all don't stuff it in our mouths in one go LOL.Will I come back, Yes, I visited just before Christmas when the roof was off for repairs and sat around heaters and the food has improved even more since that visit, which I did not think possible .So keep up the good work and remember that small details matter

I WISH we lived nearer to this place & we will go again when we go near there again. you have to go to this place. 10 out of 10

We visited this pub with our 2 families on a Saturday night having found it difficult to satisfy our "pescatorian" diets at a reasonsble cost in nearby town of Pershore. We found it to be a really nice pub with top class cuisine. All food was cooked to order and really well presented with good sized portions. Prices were not too high at around £10 per main course and £4/£6 per starter or dessert. There was a good choice of standard pub favourites as well as some more upmarket and imaginative choices of starters mains and desserts. It was the first time I've experienced sole veronique in many years...a lovely hark back to the 70's & 80's. The pub was a great find and VERY reasonably priced too. The husband and wife were really helpful and bar staff very friendly. Would definitely visit again.

The owners of this restaurant / pub are really friendly and welcoming, ordered steak and chips, so many places ruin a good steak but not here, couldn't have been cooked any better, great portion size. I had room for a pudding so sticky toffee pudding couldn't be turned down and again was not disappointed. Good ale selection as well.Definitely a place to revisit.

The person manning the entrance insisted we wear bands on wrists (plasticised, non-recyclable) which indicated payment of the garden entrance fee which would allow seating in the garden area. Having reserved a table inside, sunny weather tempted us into the garden. No tables were reserved in the garden area. Staff stated they were unable to move an umbrella to provide shade over a table large enough to accommodate the 5 of us. This request was made by 2 very elderly members of the group. We moved to the reserved table inside the tearoom which allowed dogs at tables. Our expectation of a healthy lunch with salads gathered from the wonderful kitchen garden was dashed. Salad leaves came from plastic bags, quiches were supermarket produced and almost nothing locally sourced. Mediocre, bought-in food assembled on site. When asking for water at the table, a glass urn was pointed out to us. “Glasses” were the single use plastic type. 2 of the party, sitting at opposite ends of the table, ordered the same type of tea. One pot between the 2 was provided. When the meals arrived, the waitress stood at the end of the table, announced the contents of the plates and expected to pass them to the person seated next to her for distribution down the table. A second waitress attempted a similar act with the cutlery (wrapped in a serviette) but then did walk around the table and put it in the appropriate place. The attitude of the supervisory staff was high handed. The younger members, although pleasant, were clearly untrained. Although something of a fuss was made about the displaying of the entrance wrist bands if the garden area of the tearoom was to be used, (can only be clearly displayed on a handbag strap or wrist), several customers not displaying bands were seated in the lovely sunny garden. The gardens were simply beautiful.

Early evening meal with 4 friends . We opted for the 2 courses for £10 deal! We tried the 3 options available and each were lovely. Well cooked and presented. Huge choice of dessert - all delicious. Service was friendly and warm - even though as the only person working, she had a lot on her plate! With drinks - it cost £16 per person. The main menu was also good value. A couple of us would have preferred to see a couple of salad option on the menu so that’s what would have made it 5* However absolutely worth a visit.
