The Bell Inn in Shropshire

We arrived and were treated politely and shown to a table. Were informed that someone would be with us soon to get our drinks order. 15 minutes later still no-one had come to get our order, I went up to the bar to ask why. I was told it was table service and someone would come to us. 10 minutes had gone by, still nobody came. At this point we donned our coats and left. I am in no way criticising the two ladies serving, there were only two serving and they were rushed of their feet. The management need to wake up, table service needs staffing, they let these ladies down, I felt sorry for them.

Had a lovely meal here with Family food was beautiful and atmosphere was nice. A nice cosy pub with lovely staff and the service was spot on no complaints and will definitely be returning also a shout out to Dannii who served us and was a credit to you

We have visited The Bell many times and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere with great service. Especially from Danni who is always really welcoming, friendly and goes the extra mile! Highly recommend!

Visiting family and came here for food , what a lovely pub and Dannii looked after us all with a smile and made sure we were all OK. Hope to visit again soon and be served by the lovely Dannii .

Awful meal. Never again. Hardly enough on the plate to feed a cat, let alone 3 people. Went to Bridgnorth for fish and chips straight afterwards!

Very slow service in the restaurant and bar. We waited over an hour for our food after ordering but when it arrived it was really nice.

Poor service with food being sent to wrong parties at the table, poor quality food and poor table service. Had a cappuccino which I had to send back as it looked like soap water and the waitress said yea, the machine might be playing up, why bring it to the table if it’s obviously poor quality - spent over 100 pounds on one visit and doubt I’ll return again

Lovely food and nice friendly staff

Always had good experiences and good food but this time there was complete new staff on. They were very slow taking orders and we waited almost an hour for our food (not good when you’re limited to 2 hours for a sitting by the pub). We were eventually told the oven had broke when we finally asked what was happening. When we did get our food it was hot and tasty but I had thinnest piece of beef and only 1 slice as did my husband. We have always had at least 2 pieces of meat. It did not represent good value for money. My elderly mother had more meat on her pork child’s portion. We were very disappointed. Part of coming out is to have a relaxed lunch with family not added stress. It was poor experience all round.

Was looking forward to a gammon steak and eggs only to e told the restaurant run out of eggs how can this be in this day and age????

We booked a table for a meal as we had a Love your Local voucher and needed a dog friendly pub so we could bring our new rescue collie with us. The service, food and hospitality (for us and the dog) was excellent and we’ll be sure to visit again in future.

We had Sunday lunch here recently. Everyone had something different on the menu and everyone was pleased! Food was delicious. Staff were great. Atmosphere was top. Will be returning.

Yet again a great spontaneous visit to the Bell and yet again enjoyed a great meal and service . Love this place have booked for Christmas day lunch hoping it will be just as good as our previouse visits

Visited last night.. truly shocked after reading reviews.. It was a kids meal on an adults plate .. 10oz steak no bigger than a burger , 9 chips 1 mushroom and half tomato..absolute rip off .. Hunters chicken with 2 lettuce leaves .. Truly shocked .. Salt caramel sundae, 1 scoop ice cream , squirt of cream £7.50 … Beautiful pub inside and friendly staff but shocked by what was served .. £56 .. really expensive.. Only speaking by what we experienced.. will not visit again …

Always good to meet friends have a meal together good selection of guest beers. Unfortunately on our last visit 1-10-24 service was very poor time waiting for meal to be served exceeded any reasonable wait.

Only the second time visiting, we are new to the area and drive past frequently. Tried it about a month ago and was impressed with the menu, the service and the quality of food What’s more it’s wheelchair accessible and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Visited again on the 5th and they had a few parties so we’re busy in the restaurant but plenty of space on the bar area which was cosy and informal. I had the curry this time which was rich and creamy and my partner had the mixes grill - wow! Will definitely be revisiting and recommend to anyone

Lovely place to eat especially with the 30% off mains

Slow service - our table was booked for 4pm. Our drinks arrived at 4.30pm and our food didn’t arrive until 4.45pm. When the food arrived, it was incorrect. We had to send one starter back. The correct starter didn’t arrive until 5.10 by which time the rest of the table had finished their starters. The main course for everyone was pleasant. We had to return a glass as it was dirty and milk (for a cup of tea) because it had a hair in it. There was no apology or acknowledgement of the above issues. Real lack of attention detail.

Used to regularly go to The Bell and had lovely food and service but the last couple of months something has changed and not for the better. Visited early August, pub was packed, hardly any staff, food wasn't as described on the menu (items were missing) people walked in who had booked then walked out as it took so long to get service. We tried again late August when the pub was quiet but still the service was lacking and food again had items missing. So we gave them a third chance today. After being seated, given menus, then waiting at the table for 20 minutes we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Staff had all disappeared. It doesn't take 20 minutes to take a drinks order - in fact we probably would have been waiting longer. The pub was quiet, there was nobody behind the bar.

Nice food (trio roast), reasonably priced, good service and a good range of beers. Serving the food on hot plates would significantly improve the experience, as food was only warm when it reached us. Otherwise all good.

The staff are always so helpful and friendly. Its the only place we go to eat. Staff cant do enough to make you feel welcome and the food is always so delicious! I recommend you so often to others. 5*

Warm, friendly and excellent service

This pub has really gone downhill in the last few weeks. The service is so slow if there's anyone about to serve that is. It used to be thriving so don't know what's gone wrong.

Thank you again for having us and the horses! The horses absolutely love it here lots of your customers and children came to say hello and some of the children even had a little sit on the horses. Staff were fab after we asked for bags to clean up the horses mess. We love hacking to your lovely pub!!

Food luke warm and portions small for the price. Hot chocolate was undrinkable and taken off our bill (at £3.75 each!). Could do with a good clean of seats and the toilets. Staff were friendly but not enough of them. Won't be returning.

The food was very good,even though we did request pork and were told after we had ordered that it was off the menu. Once seated we were completely forgotten about. No one checked to see if everything was satisfactory. We also would have ordered a dessert and extra drinks, but there was no staff around. We noted the tables surrounding us were ignored as well. We noted that they too were not satisfied. We have dined twice in a fortnight (Table 23),and had the same experience on both occasions.

Visited for lunch with a friend for a long overdue catch up. The service was excellent, food beautiful and overall we enjoyed our time at The Bell inn. We will be back again soon.

We accidentally found you as we pulled in for the services and decided to stay for a bite to eat on the way to Chester. We were met with a warm welcome (and saw this consistently offered to other visitors ). Really Lovely food and great

Called in for a Sunday roast and was not disappointed! Really nice food and a cracking pint of Marstons demonstrates a well maintained cellar and pumps. Really friendly staff and the pub has clearly received a makeover which is tasteful and inviting. Will definitely be finding an excuse to be in the area so we can nip in for another meal and pint soon. Keep up the great work.

Food was delicious but the service was poor. There was long waits for drinks, ordering and no check ins. We could see the bar from our seat and we watched has our drinks were left on the bar for approx 10 mins. The beer had gone flat and needed to be changed and the hot drink was luck warm. None of the staff were overly friendly and did not seem to care about the level of service they were delivering. One the menu it states that there is oat milk on request. I have a dairy intolerance so require alternative milk, I ordered a tea with oat milk. Only to be told they 'do not do oat milk or any alternative' why is this on the menu. Overall the whole experience was not great and I do not plan to eat there again.

We only stopped for drinks and a main and they got both of these wrong. I think the younger staff require more training or more staff put on at busier periods of the day. We ordered 4 cokes, not rhe hardiest thing to get wrong... and then the burgers were bought out and then taken back cause the waitress was not sure if they were the right ones.. she should know the food she serves.. pity as we have been numerous times but this time was a bit of a let down especially as we had family over...

Booking in very straightforward shown to our table without any wait, drinks served within the expected time considering our busy the restaurant was, we were advised that kitchen was extremely busy and runninig a little behind, The wait was very short considering how busy it was and the food first class as was the service from the staff

After many times at the bell, the same problems persist despite comments and prior reviews. Firstly the positives, it is a cosy establishment, the conservatory is nice and the main building has that traditional pub feel. The staff are pleasant and our waitress was very good. My main meal was a hunters chicken which was nice and I upgraded to the buttermilk chicken, the bbq sauce was lacking and did detract to the completeness of the meal. Chips were very nice too and also the side of cheesy garlic bread was superb. Now for the second meal which was a sirloin steak and sweet potato fries, the steak was "cooked" medium, and was very much underdone and I would consider rare. The sweet potato fries were so burnt, they were black. Having seen others come our batch appeared to be a "one off" but without a check back from the waitress and the fact the person whom I went with isn't one for causing a fuss, it went unnoted until I asked for the bill. Thankfully my mother took the steak home to re cook in another meal so it wasn't wasted, but does defeat the object of going out for dinner. Steaks here are consistently undercooked and this is the 3rd occasion we have made a point at some point throughout the past visits... I would say the pricing is mid to top end of what you would expect to pay for this caliber of meal and I would say it is slightly overpriced for the quality you receive.

The customer service was excellent and so was the food. The Ribeye steak was one of the tastiest i have had anywhere.

Victoria was a very friendly and accommodating hostess, nothing seemed too much trouble. A credit to Hungary.

The service was difficult to rate because before Viktoria served our table it was disappointing but Viktoria had such a wonderful, helpful, chatty attitude which swayed our opinions greatly, it was a pleasure to dine here. However we discovered at the end our bill was mistakenly mixed with another table in the room, this took far too long to fix and was such a shame to sully the experience. In all, somewhat disappointed but thankful for Viktoria being one of your only redeeming qualities.

Had an amazing meal for my boyfriends university starting. I would highly recommend the steak and ale pie. They were also able to cater to my friend who likes plain foods. I was served by Élif who was polite and friendly. We also interacted with Cleo who was energetic and enthusiastic and made our time a memorable experience. Can’t wait to come back soon! WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND!!!

Lunch with a friend. Gavin was very friendly and attentive. A little disappointed that the dish I wanted wasn't available, but I enjoyed my second choice. We weren't rushed out after our meal as it was relatively quiet, which was nice. The last time I came was a Saturday night and it wasn't too good as my food was cold and disappointing. So it was good to have a better experience this time. As a Coeliac I have always felt safe eating at The Bell and have never been ill after any meal. I have been eating there for the past 13 years.

Excellent meal at the Bell. We had a meal about six weeks ago and it was ok but it was understandable due to new staff and management. Seven ladies who dine returned last night for a meal and a gossip, we found that all the meals had improved tremendously, we had seven different meals and all of them were excellent. My curry was tasty the Nan bread was fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked. Thank you to all the chefs.

Went for an afternoon birthday meal but was really disappointed food was all over cooked and the size of a small child's meal mentioned it to the waitress but nothing was done won't be going back Been there many times and was lovely but will not be going back

Found The Bell Inn on the way back from Shropshire Petal Fields & had the best Sunday dinner out for a long time.

Had a lovely meal , they accommodated both of my friends and my dietary and allergy requirements. We top of them of the meal with a lovely bar service with Cleo who as super friendly and kind. We sure will be returning

Food looked lovely and it was presented well, but lacked flavour. We were cold in the back restaurant so asked to move into the bar area. I wouldn't rush back for the Sunday roast.

I'd really like to be more positive as the Lady who served us was really friendly and helpful, but.....on arrival we were told that the kitchen was short staffed (a common occurrence it seems from other reviews) and if we ordered from the menu it would be a 20-30 min wait. We'd just stopped off for a bite to eat mid-journey, so didn't want to wait long, and having explained to the lady at the bar that we were just after sandwiches, she said that she'd see if the kitchen could provide some bowls of chips at short notice. She returned from the kitchen saying we could have bowls of chips with bread and butter in around 5 mins. I went outside (we had the dog with us) to talk to my wife and son, and my wife then popped back inside to order two bowls of chips and a plate of bread and butter. The 5 mins became 20 and, as I was driving, I had to drink my single half pint of beer very slowly to make it last throughout the wait. I have to say that when the food arrived, the chips were the excellent home-cooked sort and the bread was equally nice, not the usual shop bought variety. However, and this is the major downside, more so than the wait. The 'bowls' were in fact tiny side-dishes. Between three adults there were approximately 30-35 chips total (a dozen-ish each) and 4 half-slices of bread. So the food was admittedly lovely, but there was barely enough for one of us, all for the princely sum of £10.50. At least the dog got a couple of free dog biscuits. Like I said at the top, the lady tried so hard to be helpful, but we ended up waiting ages and were served the tiniest of portions, so we will continue to drive past this lovely looking pub. Shame.

Staff were wonderful - cannot praise them highly enough. Food was, as always, exceptional.

We definitely caught them on a bad day, a chef was out so service was slow..however, expectations weren't managed well. We were told a short wait and it was about 45 minutes - felt like if we were told it were longer it is easier to deal with. The pies tasted great, the hunters chicken was quite tough and bland. Overall was OK, imagine a good place when properly firing on all cylinders.

Very poor service We arrived to a pre-booked table and after 20 minutes of being seated we still had not had our drink and food order taken. After approaching a waitress and giving her our order we then waited another 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. At this point we over heard other people in the pub was complaining about waiting over an hour for starters and returning them as the order was wrong. We walked out without drink or food and ate at a great pub down the road. I could understand if the pub was full however it was not even half full. Very poor service, we definitely will not be returning. Looking at the reviews we don’t seem to be the only ones who have experienced this issue. Sorry for the bad review but it was very poor.

It's a friendly pub with good food options. They stock various low- and no-alcohol drink options, in addition to wines, beers, and spirits. The kitchen shuts at 8 pm, so get there early enough. There are three EV chargers on site, but they were out of order when we visited, so check before travelling.

In line with so many chains now the portion size has dwindled, a lot of empty plate showing..Tasted very good, we will be back anyway it's a regular meeting spot for our group.

Lovely garden for a drink, safe for children. Had steak baguettes but steak was like chewing a rubber matt.

We had a party of 9 for a "special" birthday. The staff were lovely, and didn't keep interrupting us at all. Where we were situated was perfect, quite private, the food was perfect we had 1 turkey dinner, 1steak, 1childs meal and 6mixed roasts. All good was cooked to perfection and very tasty will definitely becoming again Thank you

Four of us ate in the dining room on Saturday. We all enjoyed our food and though the service was a little slow, it didn't bother us as we could see the pub was busy. I have a cashew nut allergy and the staff were proactive in flagging menu items that may have been risky when I ordered. It was the first place I've been where staff took that much care of an allergy so I was very impressed. The atmosphere was great and we didn't feel rushed. It was a good experience, I would eat here again and would recommend The Bell to friends.

Came in for snacks and drinks with friends. Service was quick and food was piping hot. Had cocktail, best I've ever had. Will be coming back soon!

Staff have an understanding of food intolerance and allergies.

My friend and I meet at the bell frequently, today it was not up.to it's usual standard!! I had to wait at least 10.to be seated at a table, we had booked but it was not checked. There was a definite shortage of staff, my friends beer arrived cloudy and had to be returned, 4 pulls before one fit to drink. The food arrived fish.gougons but no tartar sauce and no offer of vinegar. There has always been.a piece of lemon to.squeeze over the fish, not today. We had.desert and then.asked.for the bill. 10 minutes later I went searching for the bill which.then.arrived about 5.minutes later. The staff what few there were, were pleasant but there didn't appear to be any.system, what a shame as we have had excellent service on previous visits
