Passing by on our travels and popped in for Sunday lunch. Being an ex caterer in the RAF, I would just like to thank all your staff for a lovely experience. The food was delicious and I can’t praise the young lady chef enough. Obviously put a lot of heart and soul into it. In these days of buying puddings in, I’d like to commend her on the traditional, homemade no less 👌, desert. Delicious. Thank you to all the staff for a very pleasant lunch.

We visited the bell since it’s reopening for Mother’s Day carvery. Beautiful layout and excellent service. The food was delicious and the head chef serving the carvery was very kind and helpful. The desserts were all homemade and were amazing. Overall a brilliant pub and we will definitely be returning!

I agree with Winters End review 100%. The pub, under Josh's capable management, is now warm , clean and inviting. The Christmas menu was cooked to perfection and extremely generous portions with 7 veg and all the trimmings.. I would highly recommend a visit.

Having been to this establishment a number of times, which used to have amazing staff, todays visit was an eye opener. The food was, as always amazing, although the broccoli didn’t go near a steamer or a pan of boiling water. I went back to the carvery for one potato and a Yorkshire pudding and was told “it’s not a bottomless carvery “ with a death stare directly at me. Another diner asked if she could have another Yorkshire pudding and she was told “no, not really” yet, he was eating food with his fingers and wiping his fingers on his apron afterwards, no hand washing in between!! If the dishes of food were topped up properly, I wouldn’t have felt the need to visit the carvery station again. Being a new landlord, you seriously need customer skills training. I expect Marlborough threw a huge party when you left. Very rude and arrogant. I won’t be spending my next £70.00 for a family meal and drinks with you.

We were on holiday and had booked lunch at Belluno on Easter Monday. Very enjoyable. Food was delicious and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We loved it so much, we went again a few days later. The set lunch is very reasonably priced and they do not skint on portion sizes. Only wish we lived locally and could go there more often. Highly recommend this venue.

Recently had dinner here with my wife, daughter and son in law. Arrived a little early for our table which seemed to be an issue though it shouldn't have been. We were aware it was a tapas menu and thought it would make quite the change. To be fair the food was pretty good and the muscles were outstanding. One issue was the bread that accompanied several dishes, it was just awful. Brown sourdough that could have been a month old it was that tough and very tasteless. Service was rather haphazard though not poor. Oh the constant door from the kitchen hitting our table as it opens became annoying. All in pretty reasonable and worth another visit.

We booked a last-minute dinner at the Royal George for 12 people (with just a couple of hours’ notice!) and were absolutely blown away by the experience. We’re on holiday in Appledore and this evening was easily a highlight of our trip. The team couldn’t have been more accommodating – they gave us a private room, which made it feel extra special. Service was exceptional from the moment we arrived. We were never left waiting for anything – drinks flowed, food came out promptly, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The food? Incredible. The burgers were terrific, the steaks were melt-in-the-mouth tender, the mussels were fresh and full of flavour, and the fish curry was perfectly spiced and absolutely beautiful. They even went above and beyond by sending us home with a takeaway portion of the chef’s crumble of the day for a family member who couldn’t make it. Such a thoughtful touch. And yes, our dog Barney was welcomed too – which made the whole evening feel even more inclusive and relaxed. We left full, happy, and very grateful. The Royal George is an absolute gem. Highly recommend!

Lovely pub, very welcoming landlord and landlady. Food was really good, excellent price. We were not made to feel like outsiders as we were visiting the area. Exactly as a pub should be.
