Last night I went to the bell as my usual with my friend and when my friend went in the counter to order drinks the bartender was really rude and we was (kicked out) and left the drinks in the table. Unfortunately that didn't happen only to us, that happen to a group of friends (about 8) in another table who spent a lot of money on their drinks (which I could count around 20 glasses in the table) and the bartender was really rude with them too and kicked them out too...They even ring the bell 🔔 for the last order.... PS: PLEASE MAKE SURE THE STAFF DOES THEY WORK PROPERLY IF NOT....STAY AT HOME INSTEAD OF TREATING COSTUMERS SO RUDE....Now think if that is OK to treat people like that? We just need a relax FRIDAY night after a long day at work.

On the 2nd of January we decided to book a family meal for Saturday evening (01/03/2025) We explained it was a double celebration for my mum and partner's birthday and we were all very excited having never visited the Bell at Harborne. Upon arrival we were told our table was outside, this was not specified on the booking confirmation that was made 2 months prior. Slightly baffled due to the 5 degree temperature, the man took us outside to inspect our table next to the smoking shelter and drinkers who agreed 'it was abit cold out.' They did try and resolve the situation by putting us at 3 very small tables where it would have been impossible to eat. The whole experience was surreal and after our first drink we decided to leave. We then rang various restaurants in Harborne and managed to get a table at the Plough who were very accommodating and even managed to get us a table indoors. I was in 2 minds about writing this review but 24 hours later I still find myself in shock and felt it necessary to voice my disappointment that our double family celebration nearly turned into disaster.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for a roast. Really cosy little pub which was a great place to while away a Sunday afternoon, cosy, comfortable and warm with a very typical British pub decor. It actually gave me a very countryside pub vibe which I found quite whimsical. The food available was a little short of the full menu as it was clearly very busy with most tables being reserved. I wasn't able to have the beef roast or cauliflower cheese (unfortunately) but I went for the lamb instead (which was delicious). The food was very good, personally I would have liked a larger portion of meat but for the price it was perfectly acceptable, you are able to request more veg if required for no additional cost. The service was really good and the staff were friendly. I would definitely recommend this pub and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

I have never been disappointed at The Bell but for the 1st time I was on the evening of the 1st October.. Went for Dinner with friends. I had the 10oz Ribeye Steak and everything was gorgeous but half of the Ribeye I couldn't eat because it was all 'gristle'.. Inedible. I mentioned it to the Staff and was told it was 'Marbling'.. It was definitely not. They spoke to the Chef and the message that came back was 'Can't do anything about it, it's just the way the Steaks comes to us'.. I wasn't expecting anything but thought I would have had a better response, the staff did apologise but it was like 'oh well it happens from the Chef'. Anyway my thoughts are that a Chef should know by the look of the Steak wether it be good enough to cook for a Customer etc?. Eitherway I still recommend The Bell. Never ever had a problem there..so don't not go, it's a, wonderful place. Just wanted to make my point.

We took a friend here for anafternoon tea treat, whilst the 'snug' area was nice, the pub was absolutely dead. What was really disappointing was the actual afternoon tea, it was a real let down. There was essentially what amounted to one and a half sandwiches between us, a couple of falafels and doughnuts and brownies and 3 scones that were very dry. This is not a traditional afternoon tea. There should be a selection of small sandwiches, a selection of small cakes including cream cakes and of course the scones should be fresh and warm. Falafels and small doughnuts should not be included in an afternoon tea. I felt so embarrassed as it was supposed to be a treat for my friend who had never experienced an afternoon tea whereas we frequent afternoon teas up and down the country. The price also did not reflect the quality and the amount of food at £45 for three people it is overpriced and underwhelming.

I've been here several times. This time, with my eldest son, on our way back from a shopping trip. It's a dog friendly pub, fortunately, as we had Nelson, my sons dog, with us. Water and biscuits were supplied for him without us asking. Staff are polite, courteous, and helpful. We sat outside at the back overlooking the bowling green as it was a fairly warm day. Our food was served promptly and was very tasty.

Nice cosy old school pub with a good variety of drinks and a lovely menu. Friendly service and attentive staff. Me & my family always have great meals here. We have been for lunch, evening meals, and even breakfasts on Sat/Sun mornings! They are always good at altering meals for our requests (such as chips instead of mash, gravy on the side etc) and there is always something for our family members who are gluten-free & diary-free. We have had birthday meals here as well, even for groups as much as 12 (but obviously booked in advance as a large group) & it's always enjoyable and a good atmosphere in the pub. Great beer garden with plenty of seats, outdoor heaters, flower beds, a bowling green, and all with such a pretty backdrop of a church and mighty old trees. It's definitely a hidden gem! The pub is an old coaching station inn, so the only thing is that the bar corridor can be tight for space when there is a queue for the bar, but everyone is always in good spirits to get past each other if needed, etc. Plus, it is all part of the pubs old school charm! So go with a smile and enjoy the buildings history as well as the food and drink. 😉

My only gripe was the beer it was terrible and I mean terrible totally flat..now to me either the glasses are not left to dry long enough or you need to clean the lines at least 2 maybe even 3 times a week..there was 2 men behind the bar plus a young lady and they did change the beer for us..service was nice n efficient...Good points..food very nice 4.8/5..friendly staff 4.8/5..beer sorry but its only a 3..we will be returning soon for breakfast so let's give that a bash...thank you all a pleasure to visit..

After an unfortunate car-related incident, my mum and I needed to wait several hours on a Friday evening for roadside assistance. As a result, we walked into The Bell for a bite to eat and somewhere warm and accommodating to sit. We couldn’t have been more delighted with the food, service and atmosphere at The Bell! The food came quickly (my mum and I both had the Lamb Shank) and was really delicious, the lamb fell off the bone, and the entire dish was rich and warming. Steve the barman was incredible, helping us both with phone charging, offering many a friendly chat and generally going above and beyond. The whole team was concerned for our situation and very kind throughout our visit. The pub is lovely, and in the gorgeous area of Harborne, next to an historic church - all very picturesque! Thank you Steve and the team for making our bad day so much brighter! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Arrived Saturday evening at 8.30 pm to an empty pub! The setting is stunning. Quaint traditional pub, with a bowling green, next door to a church. We took a seat at the table with our name on and still no one approached us. My husband went to the bar to say we were here and was told he needed to order drinks there. He was also told we had to make our menu choices on the next 15 minutes, at the bar. One person ordered the steak and venison pie to be told it wasn’t available. The sticky chicken skewer starter was just cold chicken on salad with sauce drizzled over. Apparently the lamb shank was good and the chicken pie was ok. The hake and scallop tagliatelle was very disappointing- very salty and far too many capers. All in all a very disappointing experience with a total lack of service. Such a shame as the place itself is so lovely.

Reserved a table, we came in and the table was covered in alcohol, food and used straws, even though it had our reserved sign on it. Not a single person at the bar so we asked one of the waitresses where to order drinks and she said if we wait at the bar someone will be there in 5 seconds… so we went back to the bar and she was the one going back to the bar, so what’s the need for the attitude. We asked for a sangria spritz from their summer menu and was flat out told they don’t serve sangria. I had to argue that it’s on your menu! Surely you serve it?? They checked and just like that, they do serve it, so we get the sangria (without the fruit and ice as advertised) and sit back down. Later we order a tea to the table as my mother in law is cold due to their heat lamps not working, all other tables had their drinks brought to our table, not us, the same waitress comes out to the front of the pub and shouts ‘who ordered a tea’ Much to the bemusement of all the England fans sitting watching the game who started to jeer and laugh about someone ordering a tea at the pub, she knew what she was doing. Never coming back to such awful service.

Lovely setting and a very cute traditional pub. Unfortunately the service let us down, as a group of 4 ordering separately we expected our food to come out at different times but not 25 mins apart..one meal seemingly had been totally forgotten about. £15 for a burger that was missing ingredients and presented in a half hearted way left us feeling underwhelmed. The Sunday roasts were home cooked and good value. Sadly we’re not eager to return, which is a shame as initially we had high hopes.
