Been before and was very good, unfortunately this time it was not the best. We ordered drinks and then told that the menu was changing next week so lots of the menu was unavailable. We found a table to accommodate us but it wasn't clean. We ordered our food at the bar, the food was OK. We ordered a pudding at the bar. All the food was OK. But I was surprised that I had to pay 10% service charge. Such a shame to have had a disappointing meal at such a lovely little pub!

Ordered the steak and Stilton pie on the menu it’s said a choice of two but told only steak and Stilton. My son and I both had the pie it tasted more of steak and red wine and there was an awful lot of mushrooms in the pie only one mouthful did I taste the Stilton it seems as if the pie which was homemade then had some Stilton added to try to give the impression of a different pie. Also why when you go to the bar to get your drinks when you ask for the bill they have added 10% on the drinks also. .

Nice location. Outside space in garden nice on a warm day. Log burner inside on a cold day. Decent menu for food reasonably priced. Brie starter needed more bread. Steak was cooked perfectly at medium rare. Limited local beer selection and bar staff not overly knowledgable. No brewpoint beers? Limited selection of red wine too. Service was quick and perhaps a little brisk. We were checked in on during the meal but it felt a tad rushed. Plenty on menu to still try though so happily return.

We typed into Google…. Good pub near…. The Bell appeared and the menu looked good. So off we headed. Wrong… this is a GREAT little pub. The welcome was friendly and welcoming. The service was prompt and timely. The food was delicious (Philly steak and cheese baguette with cubes of watering succulent medium cooked steak) even my Ruddles beer was spot on. So yip I liked this GREAT little pub.

It was horrendous. The food was not cooked properly and when I asked for it to be sent back to the kitchen the chef came out and he was very rude. "I've cooked 2,000 steaks I think I know that I'm right" he said!!!! I went with a family member bound to a wheelchair and the toilets were NOT wheelchair accessible and when we asked if they were wheelchair accessible they said if she can walk through a door the rest of it is wheelchair accessible which was a lie because there were stairs leading to the toilets. I was hopeful for dessert as I ordered ice cream but when it came it was 90% whipped cream , something I am allergic to I found this disappointing as on the menu whipped cream was not mentioned.

having reviewed the menu online which stated one of the starters as King prawns sizzling in hot garlic & chilli oil with fresh lime served up on toast we decided to travel the twelve miles for lunch and ordered this dish. What a total disappointment it was nothing like as described, basically it was three king prawns on a plate with toast and a salad and a bit of lemon, no sizzling oil, no garlic no chilli just three prawns. we mentioned it to the young waitress who diplomatically agreed with us and said she would mention it to the chef. completely spoilt our lunch time visit, not offered any recompense or discount Needless to say we will not be returning

I've been into The Bell a handful of times but this was the first time I dined there. First, I have to say that The Bell is amongst a very small number of hostelries that I have visited that fit my personal idea of the perfect English pub. Stone-built, thatched and cosy, it is a proper country pub, split into a series of smallish rooms, each more inviting than the last. Give me wooden beams, low lighting and a fireplace and I'm in my element. My personal tastes aside, The Bell is clearly very popular as it was thronging with drinkers, diners and well-behaved dogs. The atmosphere was lively and convivial. The staff were clearly run off their feet, yet they were still warm and welcoming and waiting times were surprisingly brief. One or two things went wrong during our meal - firstly, whoever took our booking had not written it down, then we learned that much of the veg. for the roast meals had run out. As luck would have it, some of the drinks and deserts we ordered were also problematic in one way or another. However, these things can happen anywhere, and the measure of an establishment and its staff is how they deal with it. In the case of the staff at The Bell, they could not have done better. They were extremely apologetic and did everything they could to make up for the problems. In the event we each ate a generous and delicious Sunday Roast and enjoyed our deserts and drinks too. Despite the problems, service was brisk, efficient and friendly. That is all you can ask for. The cherry on the cake is that the prices at The Bell are extremely reasonable. All in all, top marks to the staff and I would recommend The Bell to anyone for food or drinks. I shall certainly be returning.

We went for lunch in this attractive old pub on a simmering Sunday, and ate indoors as the thick walls and smaller windows kept us relatively cool. Good service and well kept beer and ciders to quench our thirsts. As to the meal the roast beef was exceptional, vegetables fine, the red gurnard goujons reminded us of watery cod, (we blame the fish there, not the cooking) and a soft crumbly Bakewell tart that was far nicer than the usual chewy article, while my ice cream was served in its original tub, which was more traceability over presentation? - but it did come with a shortbread finger. The bar is small, but the service is quick and cheery. We might try it in winter next....

We have been here twice this month... the first was for an impromptu dinner after a drive, we both had ham, egg and chips which was just perfect. The second time was for lunch whilst walking around Harold country park - I had the southern fried chicken burger (absolutely delicious) and my other half had the steak sandwich which he really, REALLY enjoyed and wants to return again sometime for! Staff were very friendly and helpful on both occasions. Great range of drinks. We chose to sit in the lovely garden both times. I have been visiting the pub for years since being a child and am very glad the new owners have kept it going!

We hadn't booked however were seated very quickly by the friendly staff, it was a little busy in the snug so we sat the other side of the bar which was quiet and better for us. The menu isn't the biggest but we quickly found things that would suit us. My boyfriend had a steak and I opted for the ham, egg and chips as didn't fancy something huge. Food was lovely! The only thing I would change is the pub used skin-on fries not chips, which I would have expected and preferred for a british pub (I guess that's down to preference). Overall it was lovely and we won't hesistate to visit again!

Too many pubs try and be something they’re not- this is a village pub serving good beer and traditional pub grub. Very busy with locals which is good to see. Fairly varied menu with the traditional options such as scampi, Jane egg and chips with the addition of a couple of specials - Thai curry, lamb. Served reasonably quickly and very fresh. Staff were friendly. Basically a good all round experience and will return.

We came for lunch at the Bell as an impromptu “I don’t fancy cooking” last minute booking and we were not disappointed. My husband and I had the roast beef which was cooked to perfection! A cracking joint of meat! The roasties were great and the Yorkshire was also tasty (although I do like my Yorkies a bit bigger ). My son had the roast pork which he promptly hoovered up along with the selection of vegetables we had. Our youngest had the children’s sausage chips and beans which was presented well and was a very good portion size, it only just beat her! The cheese cake was stunning and I have it on good authority that the chocolate brownie was also good! I found the bill to very reasonable, and the staff were all polite. Overall a lovely village pub serving a really nice Sunday roast

We went to the Bell today for our Team Award lunch. Upon arrival we were greeted by the new owner and we complemented her on the Pubs festive decor. My colleague commented that it was reminiscent of the movie "The Holiday", so cosy, warm and traditionally old English, it was lovely. We were politely asked if we wanted drinks and they were promptly brought to the table. We had pre-ordered our food, so within 10 minutes of arrival our complete order of meals was accurately brought to our table, exactly as each team member had ordered. I had the locally sourced Sirloin Steak and it was cooked exactly as I requested. It was succulent and full of flavour, beautiful. Everyone one of us had empty plates and everyone was more than happy with their choices. We then had desserts, well I had the Cheese Board and a glass of seasonal Port. I got 4 or five good sized pieces of various cheeses, crackers, butter and chutney and again it was delicious. I was a really great event, in great surroundings, topped off by fantastic service and truly great food. Well done the team at the Bell. Over the last few years this pub has been up and down with various owners, but its now back as a lovely venue serving great food. We come from a Research Laboratory down the road in Sharnbrook. After a few mediocre offerings in the past, the pub was one we didn't choose for lunchtime events. After today's wonderful event, it most definitely will be number one choice, it was that good. Well done to all concerned.

As we had dogs, we asked if we could eat outside and we're surprised to be told yes, but you can't have a tab. We hadn't expected to have a tab, but the way it was said made us feel that outside eating was tolerated rather than encouraged.Fairly limited lunchtime menu. Good to have light bite options. Booked this just last night for me and my Mum. I got a prompt response from them advising they would pencil us in as it's been a glorious sunny few days and I guess they knew they'd be busy. Was lovely to sit in the garden with Mum and her dog and in a slightly shaded area. Staff are always happy and you always feel welcome. I haven't eaten here in a while but won't leave it long until my next visit because we were really pleased with tonight's meal. Mum and I both ordered the Stilton and black bean burger, comes with a lovely light bun, fries, coleslaw and a fresh salad, colourful dish, well presented , well cooked, good size portion at a realistic price. The thing I like about this place is it's traditional food and yet offers something a little different such as these burgers...most places do a veggie burger but they are usually pretty bland. I also like it that they throw a few alternatives into the mix like the specials. Goat curry wouldn't be my choice though I'm told it's great and hey it's there on offer as are a range of meals you don't find in most pub chain eateries. As always a great relief not to be a mass produced microwaved dinner which sadly is becoming the norm. Well done and thank you for good food and great service with a smile.

I am local to the area and have always had great food at the Bell. Their Sunday lunches are lovely too. It is a friendly pub with a pleasant atmosphere. A wonderful rustic, country pub.

We were visiting family for 2 days in the area and had the pleasure of visiting here twice. Once for afternoon drinks, the second for dinner. Both times the staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable, they knew almost all their customers by name and greeted them as friends. The pub is quaint, the best of British style pubs. Drinks were reasonably priced and they stock a decent range. Dinner was a highlight with the most delicious lamb shank and steaks, followed by treacle pudding. My only regret is it's not my local, otherwise I'd visit daily. Thanks for a great experience

We booked a Saturday for 4 diners just a day before. There was a friendly welcome on arrival and the staff were pleasant and efficient throughout our meal. Food was a good standard, nothing fancy (3 had soup starters - homemade, mains were; steak, scampi, chicken stack) and served in good time. 2 had the icecream pots for dessert but not all flavours were available, other 2 had decaf coffees with good sized cups. The pub was also catering a birthday party and several other tables so it is to their credit that the service was so good.

Stopped for lunch in the middle of a bike ride. I had a falafel burger & my boyfriend had a fried chicken burger. We both really enjoyed our meals. The garden is lovely and we sat in the sun and re-field before heading back on the bikes. It's in a lovely location off of Harold Odell Country park. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for somewhere to eat in the area

We visited the Bell half way through a 6 mile hike. The pub is set in a beautiful village and welcomes dogs and walkers. The lunch menu is a little limited and the food is ok. The staff are friendly and brought water and biscuits for our friends' dogs, making us feel welcome.

Excellent simple pub food. Catered for three adults and four children promptly and politely. I was particularly impressed with the children's meals- proper adult food, served attractively in smaller portions. Three year old wolfed down the cheesy pasta and ate half her sisters portion! Meat in the burgers was excellent quality. Grew up in the village in 1970s- ginger beer and a packet of crisps outside was as good as it got then!

Great Sunday lunch, the beef and potatoes were amazing (as was the pudding). I was very impressed with the effort in the presentation of my daughter's fish fingers and chips. We all very much enjoyed our Sunday lunch! Thanks you

I bought my wife and 2 year old for Sunday Lunch on Mother's Day. I haven't visited the Pub for a few years but always enjoyed it. It's always nice to find a lovely country Pub that doesn't hike up their Sunday Lunch prices just because it's Mother's Day.The staff were very welcoming to us; and very friendly with our little girl. My wife loved the Gin selection and enjoyed a couple of G&T's from their huge collection. The food was excellent. The Beef was cooked perfectly, and the veg lovely and soft. Big bonus point for the staff member (possibly the Manager) who offered to take our meals back in to the kitchen to keep hot while we cooled our daughter's meal down..............no one has ever offered that! We were super impressed. There were children's books around to keep our daughter occupied which was great. The weather was so great; we went outside in to the garden after our meal to enjoy our drinks while our daughter played in the garden. What a great Pub. We'll be back for sure!

Went for a Sunday lunch with friends. Nice menu with a few quirky additions. Friendly service and good food, Lovely laid back friendly atmosphere and the Sunday lunch was lovely. Great selections of Gins was the icing on the cake. Great to see that this village pub seemed to be the heart of the community with many dropping in for a drink with friends, bringing their dogs, family and kids..

A village pub on a rainy & horrible Friday evening, but as soon as you walk in to the Bell all is transformed with a warm glow. This has one of the warmest wood burning stoves that I have come across, and was the perfect antidote to the North Bedfordshire weather in late winter/early spring. Our table for four was handily placed to be able to look out of the window at the rain, and yet feel really snug by the fire. The food was served by really nice & helpful staff, and the whole evening was a pleasure.Summing up,a proper village pub with a homely feel to it,plenty of room to feel comfortable, but intimate in your own section. Will we come to the Bell at Odell again,?yes without doubt.

The owners on hand checking everything but not so,that it was obvious. So friendly, the staff very well informed regarding the menu and extremely pleasant. The food was exactly as informed from the menu, succulent, fresh salad and beautifully presented together with a single rose for Valentine's Day. The owners are a young couple but with tremendous experience and very forward looking but with their customers likes and dislikes uppermost in their minds. Full marks and we will definitely be returning for their locally recommended Sunday lunch.

Most photos are of the park which is about at least 5 minutes down the road & not joined to the pub. I believe photos & info should be made clear, you can not enjoy a drink while your kids play in this park.

Lush beers that are really well kept and great service. Fantastic music events including DJs on Saturdays, and a fun quiz on Monday. Highly recommended as a cosy local pub with a twist.
