The Beer Den - Duke Street in Sefton

Like most pubs now, there's no pool table, darts, jukebox. Pretty dull place, really. Beer is OK. Most of the punters look sad, or are just totally into their i(diot)phones. That's about it.

Great local bar just off Birdkale village, well worth a visit. Very friendly and welcoming staff and a lovely atmosphere. Best draught lager available in Southport with the Spaten in my opinion. Really fair prices. Well worth a visit.

A medium walk outside of Southport but a very short bus ride this venue is well worth a visit. Its owned by a small independant brewer based in Southport and has a really good choice of beers to sample. The brewer (Rick) was serving on the day of our visit and we had a really pleasant conversation about his brewery and various other topics. Although a little small on the interior (so would be difficult to find a seat during busy periods) it's very popular with the locals and he has plans to extend to the adjoining premises. There is seating outside on the pavement.

Waiting for my car to be fixed and needed a beer after a long day working in NHS. Friendly staff and nice choice of local and foreign beers. Love the Parker Brewery from all the food festivals. Will be back again.

Stopped for a quick drink with some friends and ended up staying for a couple of hours. Good beer at decent prices, friendly staff. Not sure why it has received poor reviews: doesn't seem fair to give it a poor review because of an obnoxious customer, that's hardly the fault of the venue!

Went to the beer den for a couple pints of real ale on the way home from a long day. My stout was warm and when I said it’s flat and warm the bar lady asked if she could take it back and get me another then CHARGED ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT!!! After saying I wanting it swapping she said that’s what she was doing but I had to buy the new one as it was a different beer! I don’t think she’d worked at a bar before or had much common sense at all. The beer was again warm so I asked for a refund again to be told that it was impossible to (yes me my own money back is very hard but wasn’t so hard to take it in the first place) I just left afterwards and won’t be returning

Harassed by a very loud man (possibly a regular, seemed quite comfortable and at home) who pressured us into uninvited political discussion upon discovering that I didn't vote for the same party as him. He was nasty and abusive. Not fun and not what we were looking for on a night out. Will avoid this place in future.
