Pretty average pub. Decent choice of beers but the wines were a bit limited. Prices reasonable for the area. Well located for the High Street.

Great Village Pub at one end of the High Street, one of the Brakspears Group serving an excellent pint of Gravity. Thursday Nights are Quiz & Chips night. £1 to enter and Sausages & Chips at Half Time. Saturday Nights there’s Live Music provided by a local group and Sunday Nights there’s a solo performer. Well worth a visit if in the area.

Monday lunchtime, characterful L shaped bar with the image of a 'proper boozer' and a good array of handpumps on the bar.Took a bit of time to manoeuvre into the titchy carpark being as how the High Street is a nightmare to find somewhere to park. Walked into the bar with a fair sprinkling of well spaced locals none of whom were in conversation..."Do you do lunchtime food ? Sorry love we don't do food,no call for it".Place went dead quiet, total silence, all eyes on me as I left the bar.Nice !

Our first visit here ( on a Saturday evening ) to see a band that we have watched on & off for over 20 years. 4 of us were lucky enough to get seats with good view near the band- pillar was a nuisance but probably needed to keep the roof on. A pleasant change to visit a pub that puts music & drinks before food. Good mix of punters from all age groups. Big bar with various seating arrangements, warm & characterful decor & good bar service. Brakespears & Hobgoblin on draught ( the former is now brewed at the home of the latter these days ). Particularly decent Stella Artois. Smallish car park. Very pleasant time had by all.

The ownership has changed... and the new look of the place is quite imposing , with high backed church style 'pews' blocking off light and the chance to talk to a larger group. The food was OK, nothing more than that I'm afraid.

The tenants who originally had The Bee between 2002 - 2014 have returned (26th Jan) The heating has been repaired and the place has been brightened up with a lick of paint and new furniture has been ordered. They have brought back live music every Saturday night and the quiz is now back every Thursday night, with great choices of food options already available within a mile radius they are concentrating on a nice environment and entertainment for the customers and not food. With great demand Burnham will be pleased to know The Bee's cider festival will be returning this summer also. It's great to see our original and new locals enjoying their pub. find them on Facebook "the bee at burnham" to see latest events

I have lived in Burnham for more than 25 years and tonight was my first meal at the Bee (once the Crispin). It has always been a great pub and ow has risen to the level of gastro pub. The menu is thoughtful and not far removed from normal pub grub but the difference is in the cooking. The food is plentiful and beautifully cooked; there aren't many restaurants that would ask if you wanted your lambs liver pink, medium or well cooked. All in all a great experience and one which I shall repeat oftrn.

Enjoyed a evening meal here during my visit to the UK from home (sunny Cyprus) when visiting local friends. Was immediately struck by how lovely and truly old fashioned the pub interior appeared to be - we don't have any pubs in Cyprus :-)Two meals were ordered, passed on having starters, one = the belly pork which my girl friend wolfed down very promptly declaring it to be delicious - I opted for the calf liver and bacon which aside for a lack of accompanying veg and requiring a little more onion gravy (quickly resolved by the very attentive waitress on request) enjoyed my supper immensely. The local house wine was aromatic and certainly quaffable.Overall I would say that everything was well up to standard and beyond. For the previous reviewer who complained about the wait for the crumble pudding can only comment that we ordered these too (well why not) and although the wait was ten minutes as they are made and heated to order, it was worth the wait!!Highly recommended and will revisit when back in the UK

Arrived at about 12:30 and were shown straight to a table. There was only one other table occupied and they had just finished their lunch. We ordered a large bottle of sparkling water, which eventually arrived and our order was taken, three roast beef. The waitress went and eventually came back 15 minutes later saying that the beef was finished and that we would have to wait 45 minutes for the next lot to be ready. Clearly no acceptable, I asked for the bill. The waitress came back 5 minutes later and said that in fact it was possible and that we would get our food in the next few minutes.Food arrived in generous portion and was very tasty.A few other customers arrived and ordered drinks and food, their food arrived and they asked for drinks three times but only got their drinks half way through their roast. Our table was cleared and we ordered apple crumble and custard as desert. Twenty minutes later the deserts were still not there. Exceeded, I went to the bar to cancel desert and pay the bill. The waitress was very apologetic and was trying to explain but another lady came and told me that deserts were made to order. Apple crumble and custard made to order???????The same person said to the waitress not to speak to me any more. I paid and we left.We received no apologies for the issue with the roast that was not possible and then possible or for the long wait for desert.Although food was really tasty, we will not be back due to the poor service and extremely bad attitude.

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night after hearing about the recent takeover. We frequently visit The Royal Standard in Forty Green so were looking forward to some tasty food. Wow, how wrong we were, the food was not just tasty, but incredible!!!! We had the oysters, whitebait and chicken liver pate to start which really exceeded our expectations. For mains, I had the pulled pork in a bun and my boyfriend had the poussin. Again, blown away, the food was of a very high standard, and the wine was also very tasty. For dessert (which I could barely manage) we shared an apple crumble which was home made and yummy. As well as the food being of a very high standard, the staff were very friendly and helpful which really added to the whole experience of the evening. The food was not a rip off price wise either, and I would highly recommend The Bee for lunch or dinner!!!!

I have used the Bee for many years,, and always enjoyed the pub . Have found the food reasonable over time and understand the new owners are taking it in a different direction. However on sun.,14 9 14 popped in for a quick pint and was charged 4 pound 40 pence for a pint of bitter ,(hobgoblin) Could not believe price and queried this, staggered to find it was indeed correct.Just how stupid do pubs think the public are. Consequently i shall avoid the pub in future, and follow lots of the previous clientele elsewhere .

First Appearance when arriving is not good, Outside there is a collection of very old unstable weathered furniture, that quite honestly has seen better days and is not creating a good impression. This is my first visit to The Bee since the New Owners arrived. However I must say I found the Food was excellent, Very large portions and Freshly Cooked. Good Service both from the Bar Staff & Waitress, however the food arriving from the Kitchen was slower that it should be when the Restaurant is not very busy. Goodness knows how long you would wait if it was busy!. Beers available were Brakspears Bitter, Oxford Gold and a Windsor & Eton Beer. The only thing currently letting this establishment down is the internal Decor (as has been mentioned earlier in another review).. The already low ceiling is painted Dark Pink and the Pub filled with old oversized high backed church pews (Most without cushions), dividing the pub into personal areas giving the feel of isolation. Some background music would be welcomed in the Restaurant. However I hope to go Back at the first opportunity, and can only hope some money is spent on redecoration and new furniture..

But it was very well cooked, tasty and fantastic portions. What made a great night though was that every single staff member we encountered was fantastic. When you think of the term pub lunch a few things spring to mind: friendly staff with a classic menu and environment to suit. The Bee strives to achieve these attributes and succeeds. The kitchen and waiting staff along with the bartenders maintain friendly faces which accompanies the warming decor of the pub. The food is your classic pub dishes with a new and refreshingly modern twist, the hake with celeriac and pea purees was a delight to try and previously the pulled pork burger has gone down a treat with me and my friends.Arguably the price tends to rest on the higher side for a pub lunch/dinner. However, if you're into your food and want fresh and interesting ingredients The Bee provides an alternative to the standard burger/steak and chips. If you time it right the fish will be exceptionally fresh and delicious. For me the prices of the various dishes are worth it if you are guaranteed a scrumptious repast!Well worth checking out and gaining an insight into this lovely little pub in Burnham.

Visited for lunch after hearing about new management and the new chef being very good.A warm and friendly welcome on arrival to the pub with great information provided on the menu and specials board from the young man behind the bar. Between the group our starters comprised of the prawns and mussels dishes which arrived within good time. Both dishes were presented nicely and tasted beautiful! The sauces for both dishes were exquisite and a delight to dip the accompanying bread in. We ordered a more varied selection of the main dishes, the duck was cooked pink as requested and was succulent and delicious. The steak pie was full of flavour and the triple cooked chips with it were nice. The stand out main for me was the pulled pork burger. The brioche bun was fantastic and the pork was beautifully tender, definitely one of the best burgers I've ever had! We were at a nice table with a cool breeze and looked after by such friendly and helpful staff. The food really was exceptional quality in taste and presentation with the price being very reasonable when you look at the portions and the quality. I will definitely be recommending my friends to visit, thank you very much to all the staff involved in making our visit so good!

I think they have got above their stationThis is a small village pub with no garden, the new menu is so expensive it will put most people off.The chef might be amazing but how can he warrant £3.50 for a portion of chips and £3.00 for a portion of peas. Anybody can cook these.Local people want tasty value for money food, not to feel they are being ripped off

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal here earlier this evening. The prawn starter is amazing, perfectly prepared with lots of garlic, bread and yummy sauce. For mains we had the Sirloin steak and the Bee Burger, both were served exactly the way we ordered and every bite was a feast for the senses! I truly didn't expect to be blown away by pub fare but this so exceeded our expectations!A lack of atmosphere is one of the legacies of the Bee's former life as a local. While the food has breathed new life into this pub, old & scruffy decor & seating undermine it. Old booths and mismatched chairs can be replaced as business picks up and cash flow improves, there are already signs of improvement. A busy road outside brings too much noise inside, closing a door would help quiet things down... The Bee is benefiting greatly from the care & attention its new owner brings and the vastly improved menu and quality of food/cooking will no doubt yield much success. The improvements will extend to the rest of the pub in time, slowly transforming from watering hole to a comfortable dining destination. The staff are warm and friendly, it was a quiet night and we received lots of care & attention - thank you!!Highly Recommended ++++

We chose to have lunch here after hearing it was under new management. On arrival, I had a friendly greeting from the bar staff and she was very helpful with their white wine choices. The Bee has a good selection of beers and as this was a lunchtime I went for Brakspears Bitter and enjoyed it very much. The restaurant area was being painted so our table was set up in the bar. This was very nice as it was located near the interesting pictures commemorating the Battle of Traflagar. We appeared to be the only people eating and this did worry me slightly when we came to order. However I needn't have worried, the Menu was normal pub fare with some interesting alternatives such as mussels or scallops. The Salmon salad looked very impressive and the looks did not deceive! The mussels, meat pie and sausage and mash were all enjoyed. All in all, we had a nice lunch in a traditional English Pub and were made very welcome, what more can you ask for.

After the disappointing first visit to Burnham High St pubs (see another review) we gave it a second chance and this was better. Friendly staff, quick service and food was OK. Beer good. Just too noisy around the bar area for us. Not a complaint as i am quite sure that is what the regulars want and I understand that. It always seems busy and this is definitely the best in the high street but there's better not too far away although that means driving.
