Food not great, service was not friendly and atmosphere was unpleasant.

Food was quality , will definitely be returning! Arnie is a top bartender and was very helpful.

This is a great pub and hotel which I highly recommend. I had my 2nd charity event ( and 3rd party ) here last week. The pub and function rooms are really lovely and the hotel rooms are big and boutique! But what really makes this such an amazing place is the staff. Everyone goes above and beyond to ensure you have a good time, from the bar staff, the sound engineers, the managers, everyone is super polite and professional and you feel you are in safe hands. Special shout out to Hannah and Benga who were so helpful and knowledgeable both before and during the event - nothing was too much trouble The food is great too!

Just down Balham for the one night & popped into The Bedford. Well worth a visit, nachos n drinks, went down very well. Deffo worth a visit if you in the area.

Great venue spoilt by the determination to make you wait to be served. For some reason at early doors they think it is okay to have one poor bar person serving. Others are around who try and add insult to injury by wandering into the bar area doing other stuff which is more important than serving their customers!

Bar wasn't manned for majority of our visit, had to wait a while to be served with not much of an apology. Waited at least 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge the fact I and other were waiting, then a further time before coming back to main bar to serve. A side note that a screaming child's party in one of the private rooms - i don't have an issue with, I have an issue with the door being left open so I can hear it all as it created a weird vibe for a pub. Also ours and tables around us did not get cleared for the duration of our visit. I. Aware I sound like a "Karen" but I was very disappointed with my whole experience and do hope management see this and try to amend these issues

A fun pub with a dance floor that opens later in the evening. Not too expensive either and a hood atmosphere.

Visit the Bedford each year for the Radio WigWam awards, iconic venue just a stones throw from Balham Station. Great staff, good prices (for London 😂) and lovely atmosphere including a log fire when we were there.

Chewy steak came over cooked and tasteless, long wait for mains even though the place was quiet also no one checked back on us also. Ask for the veg to come soft for my one year old daughter to eat but came still tough and could of been a chocking hazard top it off I was told my daughter wasn’t allowed a little walk around for a minute in a quiet pub to be told rudely by what I hope isn’t management. I thought it was family friendly pub? Won’t be coming back

Yesterday we had the most lovely evening thanks to Camila. She made our dinner a fantastic time as we were a group of 6 and she gave us very good advice on food and drinks, the music was awesome and the pub in general was very good and cosy. Will be coming back! :)

We rented out the Club room for a music video shoot and were really pleased with our experience! The team at the Bedford were attentive to our needs, friendly and worked with us throughout. Big thank you to Tiarnan Rich and Becky as well as all the friendly staff around who were on hand to help. I would absolutely reccomed booking this space!

Decent sized portions, nice atmosphere

The service was not the best as our waiter's mind was clearly elsewhere and struggled to listen and take the order correctly, he also seemed unhappy to be working that day- a smile and friendly nature was lacking. The food was mediocre too, the onion soup super salty and the roast lacking flavour. I've heard this place is supposedly good so maybe it was a bad day. I am willing to try again, but my first impression was not that good.

Went to see a friend play some songs there. Lovely pub, full of character. Very clean and welcoming. Great little music venue too. Good food.

We went to the Christmas event at the Bedford including a visit to see Santa and we had such a wonderful time. All of the team were so lovely and welcoming, and Santa was fantastic. They had asked for our child’s name and age in advance so it was very magical when they got given a little personalised present and certificate. It felt like a proper community event which is rare to find in London.

We came to see Santa in his grotto and it was amazing!! Santa was wonderful with my daughter, very engaging. She got a gift (a book), a personalised bauble and a certificate that she was on the good list as well as a good 5 mins with Santa and also the chief elf took a lovely photo for us. It was a fab experience and incredibly well priced, we were so impressed. We are without a doubt going back next year.

Recientemente nos alojamos en el Bedford. Opiniones mixtas... A la llegada, esperamos a que el hotel / pub abriera para dejar algunas maletas, ya que el registro de entrada no fue hasta las 3 pm. Ya había confirmado la caída de la bolsa Vía correo electrónico, sin embargo nadie en recepción. Dar el beneficio y tomar una copa en el bar y dar tiempo al personal para abrir etc... Volví a la recepción y de nuevo nadie allí, 3 miembros del personal nos vieron caminar con casos que era un poco Decepcionante. La chica que nos registró en la recepción más tarde, sin embargo, era brillante, explicó todo claramente y no podía hacer lo suficiente por nosotros. Se dirigió a la habitación, que era brillante, limpio y ordenado, toallas y ropa de cama inmaculada. Fue un poco demasiado ruidoso de una noche, sin embargo, el hotel proporciona tapones para los oídos, pero nos advirtieron que no escucharíamos mucha música en la habitación que está en el piso superior (habitación 12 ) este no era el caso. We booked the Cocktail bar for my husbands 30th birthday. The staff were so kind and helpful and made the day special! I highly recommend The Bedford, especially for private events.

The Bedford is a beautiful building next to Balham station. It is both a bar and a hotel and offers various event spaces. The space is pleasant, but some things could have gone better at the event I attended. Not only was there a need for more care with some of the details that had been agreed, but - at times - there were members of staff who showed little courtesy.

I've always really enjoyed my visits to The Bedford before, during and after my father's sudden and unexpected death aged 73 last month!

Previously had a lovely time here. However the bar tender was quite rude and charged extra for a gin and tonic despite ordering a lemonade then took back the tonic I had paid for without a word.

I recently celebrated my graduation party here, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! The food was outstanding - we had various starters and pork belly roast as our main course. The head chef went above and beyond to accommodate my specific requests; the food was bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive, making my celebration feel truly special. I highly recommend this place for any event!

A decent pub in a great location, but it needs to work out if it’s a pub or a club. The music on a Saturday evening (we were from 6pm-8pm) was too loud. My friends and I were sat around a table and literally shouting at each other just to have a conversation. We’re not adverse to clubbing, but if go to a pub you want to be able to chat to friends and socialise without feeling assaulted by the noise. This wasn’t late into the evening and there really was no valid reason to have such a deafening volume. I understand that the venue opens up later in the evening to become a club. Fab. Then why do they feel the need to have the volume jacked up to max all evening. We noted they serve food until 10pm but I can’t think of anything worse than having a meal here.

I came here for a podcast festival, decent selection of beers and pub grub. Big bar area downstairs and you can drink outside on the street in the afternoon sun. There's a big quite posh performance room downstairs and some other room upstairs.

Big space, bang average pub (which it never used to be), not too friendly staff, but far too happy to take your money and tell you to bugger off when they want to go home...

A great venue for a comedy gig.

Have been coming to the Bedford weekly as it’s our local and never had an issue. A couple of weeks ago we came here for food (group of 3) and all ended up with symptoms that can only be described as food poisoning. We didn’t want to leave a bad review so we emailed the pub privately and never really heard back. This type of situation can’t be taken lightly if you’re making people unwell with your food. I’m sorry to say none of us will be returning until there’s further resolution on that matter. It’s a shame since we used to come here regularly but the negligence really put us off.

Visited today for CheapShow show, quite a big and spacious place, clean, toilets in good shape and tidy. They didn't have Guinness Zero but there was Lucky Saint from tap, so not bad. Seems you can get usual selection of drinks, nothing crazy if you are into craft. Haven't checked food but menu looks promising. Stage room for events is very cool, doesn't get hot even with full house, they have bar inside as well but it wasn't open for some reason. Overall it's really nice place, good service, charging almost 6 quid for pint of non-alcoholic drink seems like a crime to me but everyone does it now so what the hell do I know. Super close to station so can travel to Central easily.

I didn't stay, so I can't comment on the rooms. We went for Sunday lunch and the Drag Show. The beef was really good, lovely and pink, very tender. Nice selection of vegetables. Slight grumble the amount of beef for £19.00 was a bit small. Pork was far more generous. Staff brought the food to the table in the caberet room. Overall a good fun afternoon ☺️

Amendment: A great venue, went there on a Saturday night. Lovely all round, it was full with good vibes, happy to return and bring family as well.

I visited today and was blown away by the interior design. The decor is to die for. Such a unique blend of old and new, traditional and eccentric. The team is incredibly helpful and friendly. I didn't eat but I did see a massive selection of drinks. They have beautiful function rooms and my overall experience was amazing. I will be returning, definitely! ----- I have returned and have a beautiful room/suite. I'm absolutely blown away by the decor and facilities in the room. This is such a beautiful space decadently decorated luxurious and it gives a real feeling of opulence.

Such a lovely hotel. Very quirky and welcoming! Staff were on point throughout. The room was soo comfortable and had everything you need. We wasn't aware of the nightclub downstairs but honestly the minute you go upstairs you can't hear a thing! Ideal location just a minute from the tube station. One of the best hotels we have stayed in!!

Room was clean, comfortable, and super quaint. Probably one of the most unique stays that I’ve had. So much character. Hotel staff were hospitable and helpful. The cocktails were well balanced and carefully crafted. The food was hot and very nice. When the wrong item was brought staff corrected the issue and offered compensation. Short walk to the tube and No complaints. We enjoyed our stay! Would stay again.

Went for a meal last night,ordered fish & chips it was really good. The meal was nice and hot, the fish was the best I have eaten for a long time and the chips were big and crispsy-just like my mum used to cook. It was served with mushy peas and tartar sauce, lovely. The waitress was a very pleasant young lady, would definately recommend and for anyone who does not live locally it is very close to Balham station.

The doorman is on a power trip. Didnt let me in because ‘he didnt recognise me’. Didnt know you needed to be known by the predatorial bouncers to be able to have a beer at the local. To make it worse i already paid for a beer went for a smoke and then was refused entry. The bigger one that wears a beany is the one in question.

Not sure what sure what star to give here but the reason i am giving this review because I don't understand why bar staff cant make a simple cocktail such as a black Russian which I wanted but I get a reply from staff saying its not our policy and I get gaslighting into buying their own selected cocktail menu. So my complaint is why do have all the spirits off all kinds that you cant make a simple easy cocktail at a fixed price? This is why I hate going out at london bars because these gaslighting policy's make ordering a drink into rocket science.....this is not what customer service is all about.

Worth every penny! Boronia suggested this place to me a month ago and I have finally managed to come and visit. I came with a friend and boy oh boy, the roast was excellent!!! This could probably be the best roast in London. Great venue, lovely atmosphere and lovely service. Shout out to Lucy who looked after us, she was attentive and very helpful. Came in on a Saturday evening (17:30), says it shows sports but has two small screens in awkward spots and has no sound, opting for loud music instead. Ladies loos have toilet seats that are so wonky you're sitting on the porcelain. You can't be a sports pub, venue and restaurant all at once

My partner and I were at the hotel last week and the truth is that our stay was perfect. A very cozy place and even if the pub is open at night, you couldn't hear anything, so 10/10.

Terrible servicio. Nos dijeron que no había carne asada solo para ver a los clientes que estaban sentados más tarde traer carne de res. Al ser cuestionados, el personal de servicio explicó que como nuestro pedido ya había pasado, no podían cambiarlo una vez que la carne estuviera disponible. La experiencia empeoró cuando mi propia cena llegó después de que todos los demás habían terminado, ya que el primer lote de salmón se había ido y había que preparar una comida completamente nueva.

I was lost and asked the gentlement at the bar if he could help me as my phone had died and he kindly looked up the address on his phone and helped me find the place I was meant to go. Im really grateful as I didnt have any form of contacting anyone I knew. Thank you Gary

We went here with a group of 6 of us and we watched the stand up show, it was well worth the 10 pounds to watch and its a nice little bar with a great atmosphere, plenty of room to move about and a outdoor/kinda sheltered smoking area, would recommend, not sure on food tho

Popped in for a quick lunch here today, the young Scottish chap behind the bar was excellent, good quick service and a smile and a laugh. Had the burger and a beer. The burger was good, the chips were delicious like triple cooked chips. Not to badly priced and superb service.

Lovely spot for a lager or an ale should you wish. Garden exists, both on road and behind the pub, a nice touch. Grubby floors, need cleaning. Black haired man behind bar had aura, he handled two young champagne socialists from North London supremely well. Little curly haired nerd sat outside was killing the vibe though. He was reciting slam poetry and hugging his gay friend with a fringe.

Unbelievable rude bar service. Thursday 15th August 9pm, utterly rude barman with dark slick backed hair just finished serving another customer, looked at me like I was an idiot, gestured his finger at me and asked ‘yes?’ like I was completely inconveniencing him. Friends had a similar separate experience which frankly ruined my opinion of the pub.

Este hotel está en una buena ubicación. Tiene una muy buena zona de bar y tiene asientos exteriores. En la actualidad tienen un menú de media pice de lunes a miércoles y la comida es buena. El personal era muy amable y servicial. Sin embargo, las 2 habitaciones en las que nos alojamos (7 y 14 ) eran estrechas. Tenías que subir por encima de la cama para entrar en el lado lejano y tenías que hacer lo mismo para operar la persiana. El ascensor solo funciona durante el horario de apertura del pub y no va a la planta superior, por lo que tiene que llevar sus maletas al nivel superior. Nos informaron que todas las habitaciones “dobles” estaban configuradas de la misma manera, así que tenías que subir por encima de la cama de tamaño 3 / 4 para entrar en el lado lejano. Nos dieron una botella de vino para compensarnos por las molestias, pero esto realmente no ayudó! Este es un lugar de música, así que prepárate para el ruido desde abajo y los trenes que circulan cerca, supongo que los tapones para los oídos proporcionados ayudan un poco.

We stayed at the Bedford Balham for 7 days. The hotel is very well located, close to a metro station (Northern Line), with access to central London in 15 minutes. There are supermarkets nearby and very good restaurants (Pizzeria and Indian room Balham). The room is spacious with very comfortable bedding. The bed is made every day, the room is cleaned and products (tea/coffee) are provided daily. We ate once at the hotel and the meal was very good. The only negative points in my opinion are that the hotel does not offer breakfast and the noise which can be disturbing for some sensitive people even if it was not for me.

A Balham institution that I only visited recently for the first time. Spacious interior and tables outside.

We have been to the Bedford several times. Tonight’s experience was different. The food was good and our Irish server was great. When we went to pay we asked if we can split the bill and they said that’s fine. This process then took around 20-30 minutes as she calculated on her iPhone while asking us each our items were( we didn’t know this without looking at a menu) after a lot of confusion and nearly double charging some of us we finally got it sorted and left. We were crossing the road and then was approached by the waiter saying we didn’t pay the service charge after we all though the bill was sorted. We asked this to be removed but didn’t realise this needed to be done as soon as you arrived. We ended up having to pay the service charge and were very disappointed customers. Unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Food was awesome! But that’s about where it finished… We wanted to split the bill which they said was fine. But what then followed was the waitress using her iPhone calculator and asking us to read how much each item was off the menu. Took about 20 minutes for us to pay. After we finally walked out we were chased down the road by the waitress asking that we pay the service charge. When we had asked for it to be removed. She said we needed to talk to the manager if we didn’t want to pay it. We walked back into the restaurant to explain that we wanted it removed but to no avail - we had to pay. Ironic because the service was horrible! If you do not want to pay the service charge here make sure you state so before you order the food! Apparently that was why we had to pay it at the end.

Asistió a The Bedford un par de veces para reunirse con amigos. Un lugar realmente genial, teníamos la sala de arriba para un grupo reunirse y proyectar. Me encanta la singularidad de este lugar y la historia. El personal parece muy amable y ofrece un buen servicio.

Stopped in for a midweek lunchtime snack and a drink with my wife. Nice friendly pub, good food and pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend.

I went to The Bedford for a meeting and was warmly welcomed by the staff and shown where to go for that meeting. The pizza and salad were fabulous!

Went to see live bands last night and it was a brilliant evening. A BIG shout out to GARY who was incredibly helpful and made our evening. Pizza, rosemary fries, sweet potato fries, fish and chips were absolutely amazing. Some Pizza restaurants do not do pizza this good!

Really nice place, great staff. Good quality dishes (scotch eggs and schnitzel) and even better on Tuesday lunchtimes as they have a special discount offer. Overall a really nice lunch.

Great venue, great location, good choice of drinks & lots of entertainment options throughout the week. An icon of a public house. A brilliant local venue at the heart of the community. Close to the tube / train & the food is not bad either since the refurbishment 5/ 6 years ago (but get a deal when you can to make it even better value for money). The poor score is sadly because of the shocking ‘customer service’ that you might have seen in other reviews. Staff don’t want to seem to take your order at the bar & then have an attitude if you have any query or question. They seem as if they are doing you a favour throughout this poor experience. Today I highlighted an experience that my family had (told 4 times in 10 mins that we had to vacate the table in 15 mins despite only just arriving and being clear that we would leave in good time). The feedback was met with an argument & confrontational behaviour in front of my family. Apparently, it was our problem! Feedback to the three cheers owners…. Great venues BUT train & retrain your staff PLEASE. This a common theme that your inadequate managers have not addressed over several years now. Sort this out & the venue is genuinely brilliant.

We really had the most wonderful wedding at The Bedford. We decided to have our ceremony at Wandsworth Town Hall and then we arrived at 4pm for welcome drinks in the cocktail bar which is such a lovely setting. We then moved onto a 110 person sit down meal in the Ballroom and the food was great. The Ballroom then turned into the dance floor where we partied until 2am! The venue was just perfect for what we wanted, it was spacious enough to accommodate all of our guests and we were able to have the wedding we wanted for a very reasonable price. It truly felt like the perfect chic London wedding. All our guests commented on how much they loved the venue and it really felt like it represented me and my husband. We also reserved all the hotel rooms which made it super convenient. Ann was so helpful the whole way through the process and worked so hard the night of the wedding to ensure it all ran so smoothly. I would highly recommend the venue for anyone looking for a laid back, but intimate London wedding venue where you can party until the early hours of the morning! I've got one less Problem now I've found the Bedford. God is a Woman in Nora: she left me with No Tears Left to Cry after The Way she served us. The pub gives me the chance to Break Free from the mediocrity; to the other Balham lot, thank u next. X

Old style traditional pub with plenty of character. Attended.for a wedding and stayed over. Rooms are very good and very big for London, especially the bathrooms. All refurbished well with lift to first and second floors. Surprisingly larger areas for functions. Service was great 👍 and food was substantial.

I love the Bedford because it's quirky and fun and the food is great and the music is wonderful.

Lovely place for a wedding with fabulous staff but could do with a face life the decor looks tired.
