The Beachside in Weymouth and Portland

Pretty basic breakfast for the price, £9 for a small, egg was anaemic, probably caged hens, toast was cold and soggy, cheapest processed sausage which was not nice at all , on a plus, coffee was good and staff were pleasant but i wouldn’t have breakfast here again.

We had burgers and fish and chips and mushy peas from takeaway here and chips were lush, mushy peas also some of best I’ve had. Efficient service with buzzers given that go off when your order is ready. The little ice-cream parlour here serves super ice-cream with generous portions and unseen flavours, including funky banana which was a hit.

Great sea views whilst eating your meals , drinks served too , try the fish and chip double offer , served with buttered roll , very nice in deed .

Nice location overlooking the beach with outside seating and a bar. We had coffees and ice creams there a couple of times which were good. However we decided to have lunch there one day and it was a bit disappointing. The ham salad was small and very basic. It consisted of a small amount of diced iceberg lettuce, with a small amount of dice cucumber and tomato and the tiniest bit of diced peppers spread around the outside of the plate to make it look as though there were more with a couple of slices of thin ham in the middle. My partners ‘all day breakfast’ was small too.However I did see several people order the fish and chips which looked nice.

Just be careful when I ordered 2 fish and chips in this restaurant the girl asked me did I want peas or beans with them and I assumed this was in the price so I chose peas then when she got to the till she said you do know there extra £2 each so I said no and she said I can take them off if you want and I said yes please I paid on my card but when I got back from my weekend away they had taken an extra £4 as well as the £28 for two fish and chips and they never gave me a receipt otherwise I would have spotted it straight away.

Went in here several times whilst on holiday in September 2023, first time sat outside looking out to sea with a cuppa, then had a meal and on our final day popped in to the ice cream side which had a massive selection. Really friendly staff who helped me as i walk with a stroller and they bought my drinks to me outside as they saw i was struggling. A big thanks to all the staff

Always have lunch here at least 1/2 time of the week when down on holiday all good last year first one this year was good went a second time for fish chips the 16.75 deal nice chips nice fish BUT OMG THE BREAD ROLL WENT to but some chips in the roll saw green bits turned the roll over it was moldy no sorry just gave another ones to us did not eat the rolls put us of the bread. the fish and chips was nice shame we will give it another go next year when down though.

Deary me. Atrocious food. Oblong fish, clearly frozen and reheated. Club sandwich with fatty, flaccid bacon, greasy cheese panini. Just depressing and unappetising. Avoid.

We had breakfast in the cafe, that was very nice. We also used the takeaway fish and chips one night, that wasn’t great, we were missing a portion of chips from our order, which I found out when we got back to our caravan. At over £3 for a not very large portion chips, was annoying and also we then had to take some chips off each person for the two that hadn’t got any. Making every one else having less. I left a message for someone to get back to me, as I wasn’t walking back again from my caravan. Also the chips had a funny taste, they weren’t very nice! I never heard anything back. In a cost of living crisis it’s not great feeling ripped off. I don’t think we will go back there again

Visited here quite a few times when Staying at Haven weymouth bay as food options on the park was rubbish. Home made chips are to die for. Service was always fast and food freshly cooked to order. Also has a great Gift shop and milkshake parlour attached. Recommended if staying at Haven for your food.

Always stop here for a breakfast bap first thing when visiting Weymouth. Good honest food and drink, nothing fancy and at a reasonable price. They have tables that are beachside so on a nice day you can enjoy a coffee and watch the waves hitting the beach

Terrible customer service. Aggressive staff unable to interact in a conversation. Was a regular visitors no longer. Other options along the coast towards waterside park.

Lovely polite and helpful young staff, had haddock and chips for two, cooked to order,one of the best fish and chip shops I have ever eaten from, I am assistant manager in a very popular fish and chip shop in the New Forest and have very high standards, this chippy has exceeded this! Thank you for a truly lovely experience. Portion size huge and we couldn’t manage to eat all of it and believe me we can eat! Thank you. Visited you on 18/8/22

A good entertainment Area and beach. Several bars, restaurants, arcade, play areas, funfair and open seating area for viewing large screen. It is a busy family area and ideal for children and on Sunday had reggae music on the beach so if you want peace and quiet not the place to go.

We regularly visit here for breakfast but today OMG, if your customers have to wait as you are busy you should tell them that there is a wait for food at the time they are odering. We waited nearly 15 minutes and went up and asked where our food was, much easier if we were advised at the time of ordering that there is a wait. Photo shows burnt bits off the griddle which were all over the bacon, it takes 2 seconds to scrape the crap off the griddle, you shouldn't be serving it to customers on there plates. Eggs were fried in at least an inch of oil which is gross, yes probably quicker for you to get them cooked, but who wants eggs dripping in cooking oil. Waitress was clearing tables but they were not being wiped before the next customer used them. Yes I appreciate you were busy but don't let your standards dropped, taking an extra 5 minutes is much better then crap service and poorly served food.

Food was good, kind of basic. View of the beach was lovely and staff had great customer service. Layout was very nice inside aswell. Really good pricing

We visited the Beachside last week. This is a very nice place to eat. It's clean staff were very friendly. The food was amazing. Don't leave this place without having their tea and scone. It's the best I have had. It's very good for families especially with younger children and there's a good choice of food. I would definitely recommend and certainly going back again.

We often stay at Bowleaze Cove on one of the holiday parks and have eaten her on many occasions The food is basic but with a wide choice reasonably priced Great ice cream

had a snack and beer in here and also had a lunch and coffee in here very nice next time in the area next year will visit again

We were staying at Haven a short walk through the fields and we reach Bowleaze Cove. We had a few meals and drinks at The Beachside. The Service is very friendly basic food but well presented and reasonbly priced. Would definitely go back again.

Brilliant area, loved the cafe, ice cream parlour. Spent virtually all week using the facilities here. Excellent place.

The food was really good value, really tasty and big portions. The staff are very welcoming, lovely sea views over Bowleaze cove, right over to Weymouth Bay

Very pleasantly surprised with this cafe. Walking in it looked like a regular roadside cafe....but...... Oh my word, the homemade scones were absolutely amazing. Best I've eaten in such a long time. Largest ice cream selection around. Decent coffee. Able to cater for dairy intolerance....

This little ice cream shop is right on the beach. The staff are always friendly and the range of delicious flavours is huge, including vegan and gluten free options and sorbets. There is a choice of cones too and a generous scoop(s) in a waffle...

Lovely cafe on then beach at Bowlease Cove. Indoor food and drink service from counter. Outside food from the take-away although not readily sign-posted. Staff in the cafe friendly, take-away staff not so much. Cafe food and drinks menu varied and not overly expensive.

We stopped here on our way to caravan park at Preston, had a couple of drinks. Quick service (not table) and friendly staff.

Have not been able to get to Weymouth for the past two years due to Covid restrictions so pleased to be back and enjoying our breakfasts at our favourite cafe. We were however concerned with the amount of people entering the cafe area to order...

Walked from Weymouth and we had a fish and chip supper. Beautifully cooked and staff were very pleasant. They have an ice cream parlour which the kids indulged in and we had drinks from their bar. The setting was beautiful and the place was kept very clean and tidy. Will most definitely be returning here.

Absolute rip off merchants! Size of the portions is ridiculous considering the price. Staff also lack basic customer service skills, ABSOLUTE JOKE

We walked the length of the promenade from Weymouth to this area. It’s flat, easy walking & there were plenty of places to stop & take in the lovely sea views if wanted. Once we arrived at the cove it was very busy with families...

Beware of the takeaway shop. They add items to your bill that you did not order and overcharge. Once challenged they are rude and aggressive. Avoid this place

What an awesome site the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria sat at bowleaze cove with Royal Caribbean and tui vessel's an awesome site to behold a must before the dissappear you won't get many chances there have been 10 here awesome just awesome

Lovely Marshfields ice-cream which was delicious. The measure put in place for social distancing were very well maintained and everything was clean. I had a scoop of banana with rum and raisin on top – it was delicious.

Tasty food and very good service. Menu choices felt a little limited though, hence 4 stars. Would return for another visit if/when in the area

Just a short walk from where we were staying was The Beachside. Makes a pleasant walk along the beach. There are a few shops and a bar where you can sit out and enjoy the scenery......or better still walk along the front into Weymouth.

Good value for money for well cooked food with friendly staff on hand to help with high chairs etc. Sad it's closing for the winter next week, but we will be back in the spring

Had icecream, very expensive I think it worked out about £4.50 an icecream for two scoops in a cone, felt robbed!

We popped in for an ice cream and sat outside as the weather was quite sunny. We did on another occasion pop inside for a drink. This is a busy little place, there is seating inside & out and is in a great location. We did not have food but all the food that was being served looked very nice.

Second time been here really enjoyed lovely homemade chips my partner had ham egg chips lovely will come back when we visit Weymouth again

My wife and myself have been using this café for years now and never had any complaints about the food or the prices...…..until 2019.This is our second visit this season and today just showed how the standards have slipped but the prices have risen unbelievably high (or so we feel).We ordered our usual meals, fish and chips and lasagne and chips. I think we were one of the first of the day (just before midday) to order chips and both lots of chips were hard, overcooked and looked very much like leftovers from the day before that had been refried as the majority were dry and with no softness to the middle of the chips whatsoever. My fish I can't complain about, it was hot, well cooked and tasty piece of fresh fish.My wife wasn't too happy with her lasagne as she said it was tasteless.The cost for the two 'meals' and two drinks was a massive £23.75, around double what we are used to paying hereIf it was a middle class restaurant you would expect that but its a cheap beachside café with no frills whatsoever.Sorry but you have lost our custom for ever.

Been coming here for around 15 years now, place has never really changed, which is how we like! Originally we used to launch our jet ski from here. The cafe/takeaway has the most amazing fish and chips! There are a lot of options on the menu. There is a separate ice cream parlour, delicious! Gift shop selling buckets, spades, ornaments, sticks of rock etc, toilets in the cafe, amusements/arcade/funfair rides next door in the Adventure Island. Staff here are very friendly, I’ve noticed some of the faces over the years haven’t changed and sometimes the children help out in the cafe when it’s busy, lovely to see the same faces working here. Really is a lovely beachside cafe.Dogs welcome on leads.Brand new Gin bar (yet to try out!) Will definitely be returning!LV x

this place has got it all , fish and chips to die for , icecream parlour next door , outside they have an american airstream silver caravan which is a gin bar , prices start around £2.50 very reasonable , and there are picnin tables to drink at or even take your gin to the beach , lovely idea but i think the drinks shoulkd be served in plastic glasses rather that glass , i can see an accident of some kind in the future happening here due o broken glass in the sand or something similar . Even so a fantastic place to visit with loads of parking .

great for kids and dog friendly shingle beach so good shoes a must breezier than weymouth so take lightweight cardy if you feel the cold had a beautiful day just relaxing and a cheeky drink by the seafront

Clean sandy beach, pet friendly at one end of beach. Water clear. Plenty of amusements on the beach, donkey rides, crazy golf Punch and Judy. Cafe bars on the beach.

Had a brilliant night watching the fireworks from here last night. Lovely gin, great food from the restaurant but pizzas looked lovely too.

Disappointed that the gift shop was closed for the season already. Obviously they didn’t realise that part of the uk had half term this week!! Been on holiday at this time on a number of occasions here and the gift shop has never been closed early. Always enjoy looking and buying from you.

Everything about this place speaks chill....great food, great prices, great service and a bar.....nothing not to like and the best egg and sausage anywhere....

Jacket potato with two good sized sides- cheese and tuna and side salad. Great to be able to sit outdoors with an amazing view!

A busy area with a beautiful beach in a bay location, coffee bar and drinks shack, a small safe play area.

Great place overlooking the beach. We sat outside on the terrace as we had our dog with us. Perfectly wheelchair accessible too. Had an ‘All Day Breakfast’ which was excellently cooked and pretty good value... large priced at £7. Overall very impressed.

We come to Weymouth bay and walk to bowleaze every time. We sit outside as have a dog , and have fish and chips. The views are beautiful and the foods great!!! You can also enjoy a glass of wine whilst there. Look forward to coming again, Tonight ( 1 st sept) was busy but loved watching the teamwork by all the staff. Well done. What a fabulous place highly recommended blue sea, sand and just idyllic. Proper holiday feeling when you there. Cannot wait to return.

We always walk down to this cafe from our holiday flat in Greenhill to enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast and feel it is part of our holiday experience. The food is very good quality and is freshly cooked and the staff always polite and nothing is too much trouble for them.The tables are cleared and wiped down as soon as the customer leaves both inside and the seating area outside. The portion size and good quality justify the prices as does the beautiful views out to the bay which you can enjoy at leisure as there is no rush to vacate the table. We look forward to returning next year.

Another enjoyable visit. Sunday lunch with drinks and small ice sundaes which are not at all small. Plenty of shaded tables to sit our of the sun. We live it here and always visit when we're in Weymouth.

Bowleaze Cove is just fantastic.

Stopped for a quick drink, stayed for lunch, more drinks (different gin recommended by barmen - nice!) and finished with an icecream just in time to toddle off back to the caravan site. Amazing views and very friendly staff. Can't wait to visit again.

Great position in Bowleaze Coveway overlooking the beach. Although we didn't try it we heard the food was basic but very good. Just needs a bit of a face lift. New signage for the shop/cafe would make a massive difference to the appearance and if the shop sold more local crafts/products as well as the usual beach items it would be perfect. It would be a great place to enjoy a drink in the evening after a wander round the shop, but not in a plastic cup please. We can be trusted.

We always eat here when we are on holiday at Waterside Spa opposite.

Super duper yummy salads, a nice big range of food, superb club sandwiches and incredible chips! Perfect for holidays and a nice view of the beach!

We ordered our fish and chips and were missing 1 of our kids meals which i had to wait to be cooked so my food had gone cold but my husband and kids had there's while I was waiting and said there's was cold as well so can't blame it on waiting for the 1 meal be cooked. Gravy was like water for the price we paid expected better quality food and at least hot food.

Only been here early mornings and always pleasant. Lovely views of Weymouth bay without the crowds. Nice cafe at Bowleaze to stop in too.

Perfect for a pint, ice cream or some food while at the seaside! There is lots of seating with umbrellas for sunny days, or sit inside if the good old British Weather has kicked in!

I always love going to Bowleaze Cove Beachside. I love the cafe, the chip shop and most of all the friendly welcome at The Beachside Cafe. Highly recommend for families.

We found this little gem whilst staying at Waterside Holiday Park - you can't beat it for breakfast & once we'd found it, we came here every morning for breakfast. Very friendly staff and good value for money.

Great beach to visit with the family. There are also two small funfairs with rides for kids and adults. Donkey rides are also available on the beach.

Although I live in Weymouth this is one of my favourite places to have fish & chips. I really look forward to it opening at the start of every season and sad when it closes for winter. The food is freshly prepared and cooked to order , the staff are friendly and helpful, and it's very good value for money. The children's portions are just right and the place is kept lovely and clean. A pleasure to eat there wether it's in the restaurant or outside with fish and chips out of paper .

Stubbled across this lovely little place whilst driving around Weymouth looking for somewhere quiet where the dogs could go for a run. The beach was lovely although not that sandy which we didn't mind and the food in the Chippy was grease free and tasted superb! Will definitely be visiting again soon

Found this place by accident, we were on holiday at Haven but went looking around, there was 4 adults and 2 dogs. We pulled up and wanted the dogs to go in the sea which we tried previously but the beaches were quite busy so didn't get much chance however this place was quiet and more secure, we asked if the dogs are allowed on the beach and we were told yes, so the dogs enjoyed a good afternoon of exercising and jumping in the sea! We then had fish and chips from the chip shop on site and I have to say as not a huge fan of chippy food - it was the best meal we had the whole time we were in Weymouth! Absolutely lovely!! And as small as it may seem to some I also had a cup of tea and it was absolutely perfect!! And to finish off the trip we had an ice cream which AGAIN was faultless! Everything. Was so lovely, definitely a pleasant surprise, the views are spectacular, the staff are all very lovely and friendly. We liked it that much that we are already planning to return next year for our next doggy holiday! Well done guys, top marks!

Not the best looking from the outside but very tasty breakfast but best of all a great view back across the bay looking into Weymouth. Choose a window seat if chilly but if warm enough lots of outside seating. Take a mug of tea only £1.20 for a mug brewed to your taste and soak up to view.

We always come to bowleaze rather than the busy main beach. Parking is easy and not too expensive. We also always visit the beachside for food and drink as the food is traditional seaside fare although it's worth mentioning that the salads are really good. Portions are excellent and the staff are friendly and efficient. What's not to like?

Not the best looking of places but do not be put off by its appearance. This little place does an amazing cooked breakfast. Very well presented, good portion sizes and very tasty. We have visited this place now on more than one occasion. You can eat your breakfast out on the balcony overlooking the sea, perfect!

Lovely fish n chips, the best batter we have ever had. We had take away and sat outside over looking the beach. The service in the take away wasn't exactly service with a smile, but we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was, cooked fresh to order. Would def recommend. Great fun park there too.

We stopped off at the beachside when at Bowleaze cove. It offers a standard English cafe food. We had really nice pie and chips , and the kids had fish fingers and spring rolls. The food was served quickly and the staff were busy keeping the tables clean to make sure people could sit down. Prices were comparable to Weymouth town centre but you probably get a nicer view of the sea.

Food is not bad however was being attacked by a lot of wasps whilst sitting outside which forced us to sit inside, clearly has a wasp problem that needs addressing

Visited beachside cafe with my large family, clean, great views, excellent food and service. Can't wait to come back soon....

We visited here for fish and chips. It was about 8 pm and the restaurant was beginning to close so service could have been better, as staff were more interested in clearing up. Although the food was lovely, and the views across the bay were great.

The food was totally disgusting, swamped in grease and the portions were minuscule, definitely not worth the money. The staff were lazy and incompetent and when we received our food order half of it was missing and the staff were unwilling to rectify this hence why I'd recommend avoiding this establishment! We Will NOT be visiting again!!!

Waited over 20 minutes just to get served which I don't mind if the foods good but the food was terrible don't know how they managed it but the gravy was thinner than water chips nothing great savaloy left as it tasted horrible chicken bites swimming in grease fish dry I think the que is only down to there being nothing else other than a fly infested restaurant that was sweltering

Being local and not wanting to join the hoards on Weymouth sea front, opted for beautiful bowleaze cove.after a visit the day before for a lovely breakfast after walking the dog thought I'd take my wife and daughter to sample the delights. How wrong I was three toasties with accompanying bowls of chips and soft drinks total £25 not extortionate but three bowls of chips came to £7.50 I was not expecting a handful in each bowl !!!!could of gone next door to the proprietors fish and chip shop and bought large chips for £2.85 and got more. All in all feel slightly cheated on the portion size will know better next time and get our chips from the chippy.

really enjoyed two visits. staff really helpful and good sized portions. all freshly cooked. even had sandwiches which were really nice and again plenty of filling providing good value for money

we love the sea so we stopped for a visit had never been before there is a café with lots to eat we saw people wind surfing and lots of people on boatsas it catches the wind on that cove it would be ideal for all kinds of boating you can park for not much money and the view over the bay is great

The cafe and shop have had a bit of a make over during the winter months and there is a lovely decking area to sit and enjoy the views whilst eating lunch. Food is good and reasonably priced
