The Beachcomber fish & chip shop in Highland

Considering where this fish and chip shop is located the fish was disappointing. Rather overcooked. Chips were tasty but expected more for the price.

This was my second visit to this chip shop. I ordered a kids' portion as I discovered that last year portion sizes are rather large. The food is nice, and prices are reasonable

We visited here a couple of times during our trip to Gairloch. Great value tasty fish, crisp batter and loaded with fluffy chips. The fishcakes were also fantastic but battered cod was the highlight for us. Great portion sizes and well prices for the freshness and quality of the food. Can't wait to visit again.

Good value, excellent food and great service from a local fish and chip shops. We use it regularly when we don't want to cook.

We were looking forward to our fish suppers after a long day around the coast. The chips were great but the haddock (only three quarters of a fillet) was very over cooked. The other quarter fillet must be cut off to use for fish cakes or kiddies portions. For £11.00 per supper one would expect a whole fillet cooked for the correct amount of time. Fish isn’t cheap to buy in, we understand this but surely a whole fillet should be on the supper even if they added a pound to the cost. They have a good system for people buying, it’s a ticketed system which works well. A good menu to choose from. We have eaten from here Many times over the years. This is the first time it’s been over cooked.

Fish over cooked and batter tough and chewy. Not good especially for the high price. Expecting quality fish for it location

A proper fish and chip shop. Huge portions with excellent curry sauce. My haddock was cooked to perfection. They cook everything fresh so they have a ticket system, you can wait in the car park until your number comes up on a display. Note, everything is cooked in beef dripping (yum!) so not suitable for vegans or vegetarians

Stopped in Gairloch whilst doing the NC500 and we were so pleased that the fish and chip shop was busy for all the right reasons. We had to wait a while to be served but the wait was fully worthwhile as the freshly cooked meal was excellent. A nice additional touch is that you can sit at one of the tables and eat your meal seated at no extra cost and they even provide cutlery.

Arriving in Gairloch with no idea what food might be available, we were so happy to find fish & chips and this surpassed all expectations. Absolutely delicious, fresh perfectly cooked haddock, perfect crispy batter and lovely chips. More than we could finish and first class service, lovely lady let us bring our dog in while we ate. After a long day looking at all the beautiful scenery around here it was great to have great service and fantastic food. The batter was lovely and crisp, tasty haddock and decent chips my partner who never normally eats everything cleared the lot. Bit disappointed tbh. There wasn’t a vegetarian option, not even a cheese pie. The chips were hard and the batter on the haddock was thick and crunchy though the fish itself was nice.Thought it was on the pricey side as well.As a positive, the service was quick and the lady who served us was very friendly.

After a 6 hour drive this was exactly what we wanted, very friendly and accommodating service from a quaint local business serving delicious fish and chips. Everything was served quickly and was still hot when we got to our accommodation in Poolewe. Next time we are in the area we will definitely visit again!

During a recent visit to Gairloch we decided to seek out a fish and chip super. The Beachcomber is a small fish and chip takeaway/restaurant with a few tables available for people who would rather eat in. The premises show signs of having been recently refurbished and is spotlessly clean. Despite sitting in the same room as the cooking area there are no unpleasant greasy cooking smells due to an impressively large extractor system.

I am a regular customer at the Beachcomber and think the fish supper is as good as I have had anywhere. The seating area is great for visitors, or if you are so hungry you can't make it home with your take away. The staff are really pleasant. I am glad we have such a great takeaway in Gairloch and definitely recommend eating there.

The Beachcomber has moved! From a location up a side alley behind the main street buildings, to the building on the Main Street itself! A considerable investment has been made - the business now includes an indoor seating area for diners, and all new frying ranges.

We were on holiday and decided on our last night we would have a chippy for dinner, it was all freshly cooked two bits of fish and chips, it's one of the best chippy' sieve had in a long time. We put our order in and waited about 15 mins, there was loads of people in there which I feel is always a good sign. All put in cardboard boxes which we took down to Gairloch harbour and ate them delicious.

We bought a haddock fish supper and a battered sausage supper it was freshly cooked so we waited maybe 10 minutes, it was so worth waiting for. The batter was crispy the fish pure white and fresh and the chips were proper chips. Brilliant food, friendly people, it is a must try.

Had fish and chips twice during no put two weeks in Gairloch. These were just fantastic with lovely chips and the haddock was great in a nice crispy batter. If you’re in the area definitely give this a try. Really good value too

Up some steps off the main square in Strath the shop is somewhat hidden but provides good quality fish and chips. The battered fish is good and the batter crispy and not greasy.
