The Beach Hut Cafe in Christchurch

Super location particularly when the weather is good - you can eat at picnic benches on the beach just below the promenade to the sound of lapping waves. We had a light lunch which was very good.

Perfect stop after a nice, long beach walk. Very reasonably priced ice creams. Highly recommend. Service is efficient and the seating is ample...even on a bank holiday weekend.

We visited today and my daughter had a total meltdown on arrival as she got wet in the rain. The male owner could not have been kinder and more compassionate while she had her tantrum - even offering a staff hoody to wear if she was wet and cold. We have come to this family run cafe for years and it never fails to impress. I’d give 6 stars if I could!

Friendly staff, great choice of menu, clean, lots of seating and the wraps and chips were amazing. Considering you had a big queue (which doesn’t surprise us) we didn’t wait long. We will be back. Thank you

We live local. Often pop in for lunch, breakfast or coffee & cake. NEVER able to walk past without a Salted Caramel ice cream. Really don’t think you could do better than our little gem. Clean,welcoming & always served with a smile. 👍 Well done you all. Come share our little gem with us

I came here with my friend and was super impressed with the service, quality of food and amazing scenery. Portion sizes are very generous and excellent value for money. It's the third time I have visited (I don't live in the area) and I have always left thoroughly satisfied. I would strongly recommend this lovely cafe if you are ever in the area!

Was staying in the Premier Inn Christchurch East and couldn't get breakfast at the hotel, so we found this place, and wow, glad we did it was brilliant service and the food was out of this world really tasty and was good size really glad we found this place a small hut hidden gem. Would really recommend this place and a lovely view on the beach

Lovely coffee and friendly atmosphere. The food - although we didn’t eat - is very reasonably priced. The staff were lovely and it’s well worth a visit.

A gem of a cafe with the most beautiful outlook / view, indoor and outdoor seating, great for snacks, light lunch or breakfast. Takeaways available on drinks and food. Halloumi wraps with salsa are delicious and the chips are thick cut and tasty.

We love this cafe all year round, but especially at Christmas when they raise many thousands for MacMillan Caring Locally. Mulled wine, mince pies and tea/coffee for donations only. And everyone is so friendly and helpful. Always worth our support. 🤗🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This cafe is excellent any month and any time! From breakfast, brunch, lunch, Cake and cuppa, oh and ice cream. Nicest cafe and nicest people along Steamer point up to Mudeford. Others 👎 and Avon expensive 👍👏🙏🤞🇬🇧😊🙋🏼‍♀️🐾🐾💔

Amazingly well managed eatery. Talk about a slick operation! Efficient, highly professional and extremely friendly staff served the most amazing food. Top quality ingredients from local producers. The burger with cheese and mushrooms is to die for. A very pleasant experience, we’ll be back.

What's not to love about the Beach Hut cafe. It is a fantastic caf, in the most stunning location and the food and service is exceptional. My only gripe would be that the portions are too large but that's not a bad gripe. The opposite would be far worse. We had lunch there when visiting the area in July and had to go back on our most recent visit in September. First time round, I had a lasagne with salad and chips, which was the special that day and it was simply delicious. My sister had a baked potato with tuna. It was absolutely massive. She loved it but couldn't finish it all. My husband had a burger, which was so good, he ordered it again on our return visit. I had wanted him to share a pizza and a side of chips with me but ordered one (vegetarian) anyway without the chips. It was lovely but impossible to finish. I would recommend sharing one, if possible. The queue is long but that's not surprising. It is certainly worth the wait.

The cafe was recommended to us by Google as a place that did all day breakfasts and my friend was keen to find somewhere that had a lot of choice. Considering how popular this place is, it certainly didn't disappoint. The menu choices great, all sorts of breakfast sandwiches and hearty meals and various drinks avaliable including milkshakes and the ice creams were amazing, a queue to order but a testimonial to the fact it is so popular but so good at what it does. The food did not disappoint at all, we both opted for breakfast sandwiches and for the price totally excellent value and hard working and friendly staff. Go and visit, right by the beach.

The beach hut was busy and it's easy to see why. We ordered three delicious pizzas which came out in less than ten minutes. I was beyond delighted to find a gluten free pizza on offer and even more so to find it actually delicious. The kids ran round on the beach and had a blast. We will be returning!

Wife and I visited on a short trip this Friday and Saturday. Went here because of the great reviews and they were right! Had lunch and drinks the first day. And breakfast the next morning. You can tell they use local sausages and bacon, tasty and very good quality. As were the rest if the ingredients. And nicely cooked, unusual for a seaside cafe. Great service and very efficient. All the staff were very friendly and happy to serve you, you can tell by the fact that it is very popular with locals. Coupled with a beautiful beach and views,, what more can you ask for. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

We spent a weekend near Christchurch, for the first time, and the hotel where we stayed was not far from the beach. We stopped at the Café just before their closing time on our first night there and we were served by a very friendly member of staff. It was great to be able to buy their lovely homemade cakes, which were absolutely delicious. In fact, we enjoyed them so much that we managed to go back there the following day after our long walk to try some of the other cakes (also delicious!) and ice cream. Thank you for the warm welcome and the delightful cakes and ice cream!

Massive shout out to the staff in the hut. Went to queue up with my Daughter who finds it difficult to interact as neurodiverse. She plucked up the courage to ask the lady who was taking orders about some of the ingredients in the smoothie and the lady took some time to look in the bag and make the smoothie exactly as she can have it. It took her such a lot of courage to step out and interact and the lady dealt with so well and very patiently. Thank you! My Daughter has had a lovely positive experience and will feel more confident next time. Will definitely be back.

Great day out! 1st Nov and the sun was shining. Came across The Beach Hut at Friar's Cliff. What a find. Friendly attentive staff. Amazingly good Dorset Apple cake and the coffee was beautifully smooth. We will return. Thank you.

Having been making trips particulary to enjoy the outstanding whippy ice creams for 20 years+ the disappointing ice cream served today which was sub standard was a real shock . Hopefully the recipe hasn’t been changed and normal service will quickly be restored

The Beach Hut Cafe is a great place, well run and integrated into the community. Nice selection of reasonably priced food, and very nice breakfasts. I always mention it to any one going to Christchurch if preference to its overpriced neighbour

Excellent and reasonably priced cooked breakfasts. Mine was the veggie, tasty sausages and all perfectly cooked. Together with the best cappuccino I’ve had for ages. The ice creams (later!) were good too. All served efficiently with a pleasant chat. Thank you!

The four of us really enjoyed our teas/coffees and yummy toasted tea-cakes on the beach, where The Beach Hut Café have placed a number of tables and chairs.And we watched a lone seal, swimming right by where we were. Very busy for an October Sunday morning. Called in for breakfast. It was very busy but we did not have to wait for a long time for our breakfast. Staff work really hard considering all the Covid restrictions. Cannot fault the meal. Will definitely return.

Visited for breakfast on a Monday morning and was surprised at how busy it was! Clearly a well loved spot in the community. Plenty of socially distanced tables outside as well as benches actually on the beach so we were able to get a spot, then you go and order at the window. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the Food came out quickly even though they were busy! Both the meat eaters and vegetarians in the group were completely satisfied, breakfast was delicious and the veggie sausages were the best I’ve had!! Also the coffee was fantastic. All in all a beautiful location and a great cafe, they do takeaway bits as well but with the lovely views out to sea you could sit there all morning quite easily. Will definitely be back!

Great Breakfast and a lovely setting on the beach. Breakfast came out quite quick but lovely and fresh. Bacon was banging. Nice touch with toast and marmalade to finish.

Friendly pleasant staff, nice tables outside overlooking the lovely beach. Thought fish and chips by the sea yum, waited 20 mins and overcooked hard dark brown batter, just like cheap frozen fish from supermarket. Not very nice at all. Really need to invest a little more in their produce.

I had a very nice toasted teacake. I also had had a delicious moist flap jack It was lovely I sat in the beach it couldn’t be in a better setting.

As always, best food around particularly breakfasts and cakes. The butcher muesli is so good too and is healthy! We love the bench tables on the beach.

We've just enjoyed our first "real" coffees out since March, at the lovely Beach Hut Cafe at Friar's Cliff beach.Very good social distancing: one-way / ordering, paying and collecting through the serving hatch, one customer at a time. We'd brought our drinks flasks with us, and they filled them just fine. A small range of cake - our coffee cake was scrummy.Lots of space between tables - on the beach! Excellent.No full menu available yet I think, but they were offering pizzas between 12.00 and 14.30.So pleased this fantastic little cafe, with its great staff, has reopened. It adds such vibrancy and character to the area of the beach front.

We had lunch here last week, couldn’t believe how busy it was at 2pm on a cool breezy March day. Every seat was taken inside ( quite a small space) so we sat outside along with at least 15 other customers. I asked for our coffee’s to be extra hot, waitress was very obliging, our cheese & onion toasties were really good and served with a complimentary portion of salad..overall a very positive dinning experience.

Though it has very limited seating inside and the outside is best in summer they guys that run this cafe are friendly and they do a range of snacks.

There is a simple reason why this place is always busy...because it is first class. The food is good, not over priced, it’s location is superb, it provides a great stop over point on any beach walk and above all the charitable work they carry out is second to none.

I have been here many times and the service and food are always very good. It has such a great location and well worth a visit. If you can grab a table outside in the sunshine it’s wonderful!

This place is the heart of the community. Providing a warm welcome to locals, walkers and dogs. The cakes and breakfasts are very good .

We are local and walk down for lunch regularly. The fresh food is tasty and fair priced, home made soups, sandwiches, crab, and fab cakes for afternoon tea.

We visit here whenever we are down at the coast. It's in a great spot, with lovely, friendly staff and good food. Great crab sandwiches and my husband enjoyed his Friars breakfast. Look forward to visiting again soon.

The home made soups are stunning especially the minestrone. All of the food is of a very standard and quality. The whole team appear to enjoy their work and this reflects in the atmosphere. Fabulous and well done many thanks.

If you want 5 star gourmet breakfast or lunch then this not for you. I have given it 5 stars because it is right on the beach, restrooms attached, great views and lovely friendly employees who serve fab breakfasts and good casual lunches. Cute place and very popular with the locals.

We use this cafe now all the time on our regular walks along this coast line. We tend to go over Hengistbury Head but when this gets over busy we do the Mudeford to Highcliffe Castle walk. What's great about this is either before or after our walk we can stop off here for either great coffee, berry tea or a great bacon or sausage sarny. Clean, tidy environment, freshly cooked great food from a premises you can trust, similar to Hiker Cafe, which makes this a must visit. One draw back is as always too many dogs.
