Best pasties to warm up after a swim. Veggie, vegan and traditional all very tasty. Friendly service too. Wish I'd been around to try the curry.

We came to Croyde in July, and saw this amazing place right by the beach, so stopped in for coffee and breakfast baps, which were so good, we returned again the next day,.aswell as for lunch, where we had their equally delicious baguettes. (Had wanted to try their sri-lancan curry, but were returning home Thursday so missed out.) We also stopped off to have drinks in their sunset bar every afternoon after a couple of hours on the beach, which was lovely. We then returned here in September, and this time sampled their loaded fries with cheese and bacon which was delicious, and their salt and pepper squid, which was incredible. And then, to my absolute joy.. we finally got to have the sri-lancan curry.. we had the beef, chicken and even gota samle pot of the pumpkin to try... and it certainly did not dissapoint,it was the best curry ive ever tasted.... the only dissapointment was we were returning home the next morning, so i couldnt go back for more curry the next night 😢 But we will be returning to Croyde sometime, and we will be returning to this wonderful place, it has the best location, amazing food, and lovely staff. Croyde is an amazing place, The Downend Cafe is the cherry on the top 😊

Amazing curry, absolutely delicious, with poppadoms and dal and aubergine curry and rice…delicious. Suggest to get some Indian or Sri Lankan beers to have with it!

Perfect location for a post beach visit drink and food. Overlooking the bay, great range of interesting food options. We had drinks and the Salt & Pepper Squid which was delicious - not greasy, proper squid instead of deep fried rings of rubber. The bar area had a good selection, we sat and enjoyed the sun, it was really busy and lots of other tables were enjoying the incredible curry's they serve. Recommend!

What a delightful, enchanting evening filled with wonderful smells, sounds, company AND FABULOUS FOOD!! Wasantha is a very gifted Chef. I don’t like curry, but I loved his Coconut Curry Chicken!! He even gave us a sample of his Jack Fruit/Bread Fruit; heavenly!!!! I’m a curry convert now!!! Thank you Wasantha! You have a wonder crew!!!! Then walk across to the bluff and beach. Sit on a romantic bench or get your toes in the sand. Enjoy!!

Great bacon rolls with a view, worth the price for a good one. Beware the car park is seperate and not free for customers you need a ticket!

Was looking for a bite to eat And decided to try here. It was quite empty and lacked a bit of atmosphere. The menu was limited and I opted for the quiche with home-made coleslaw. It was okay and fairly priced but I don’t consider one teaspoonful of coleslaw to be worthy of calling it a side salad. Not sure if I will come back as it was very limited on the plus side I could hear myself speak to my colleague as it was so empty.

Stumbled across the cafe when we arrived in Ilfracombe and needed coffee. Quaint and characterful and clearly has it's regular customers. Coffee was good and hot but the homemade Eccles cake was amazing! The other treats looked good too. Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.

Out & about I came across The Muddiford Inn decided to pop in for a light bite, ended up having a 3 course meal which was heavenly & enjoyed absolutely every part of it, the food has so much flavour and was beautifully presented. The pub is clean & nicely decorated with a lovely warm feel to it. Apparently a Family run business the young lady serving was so polite and professional & made the experience so delightful. Would highly recommend to any one in the area.
