A group of 8 - walked in for lunch and the bar woman was aggressive and rude stating the kitchen was closed. Feel she could have said this in a polite nice manner. Also putting a sign in the window would have avoided such an unpleasant experience

Visited on bank Holiday weekend on the Friday and Saturday for drinks. Friendly helpful staff and great selection of beers,rum and other spirits. Great view out to sea. Will visit again when back in sutton on sea

This hidden gem deceives the eye on first appearance. What was an ordinary northern seafront bar is actually a lovely provider of high quality meals. The menu is varied and the best approach is to pick off the extensive specials board. A selection of fish, shellfish and meats at a good price. What it lacks in ambience (but with an enviable sea view) it makes up for in quality and good service.

Always liked dropping in to the beach bar at Suttan after time spent on the beach but never again on Saturday arrived at 2.00pm to be told food had stopped being served at 1 30pm went the day after (Sun) and arrived at 12.00pm to be told no more food orders being taken I asked what about customers who are sat outside and the employee couldn't have looked at me more in disgust if she tried saying sour faced no more food orders SHOCKING we will never go there again as it feels like they don't want to have customers as its to much trouble went to the Baccus hotel better food more friendly and more welcoming BEACH BAR NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY STAY AWAY

Having followed this pub/restaurant for some time now were really looking forward to our visit. The food they present on their social media really does look fine dining with a chef that likes to cook seafood. Trying to get an evening reservation proved impossible due to its popularity and was recommended we have a lunchtime table and at no point did the gentleman who took our booking mention that they run a limited menu at a lunchtime. No starters on offer and pretty much all of the desirable mains not available. This just left the standard menu with your typical pub grub available. Once again, far from what they like to post on their socials. I chose the house burger, a large over cooked frozen burger with a piece of cheap cut bacon and a thick cut slice of tomato. The chips were the highlight and the only part of the dish I finished. My wife chose the mussels and king prawns. Whilst it was a huge portion, both the mussels and prawns were overcooked, chewy and just nasty. Reflecting on what meals we had to choose from and what we were served I can only assume the chef who does all the nice looking seafood only works the evening shift... The pub while dated and a little tired was kept in a nice clean state, although listening to someone in the kitchen constantly coughing was a little off-putting.

Excellent in every way, it appears from the outside to be a beach cafe but it is so much more, serving top quality food in pleasant surroundings.

What a lovely place the beach bar is. We saw pictures of the food on Facebook and we knew we had to try it. Safe to say we will be returning! It was absolutely delicious.

Excellent place to eat! We were staaying in the area (famioly of four with two boys 10 & 14) and after reseraching several places to go for somthing to eat, this looked the best and it was amazing! lots of diffferent choices of food on the standard menu and the specials board. We had hunters chicken, John Dory, Chicken Nuggets and a Burger. eveything was top quality and cheap in my opnion. lots of different steaks and many tyopes of fish as well as a standrad pub menu servcing typical meals and also a kids menu. Only thing that let's it down is communication. No webwite and phone doesn't work. It's on Facebook and we booked it through Messenger. This will put new customers off. You can't even see the menu in advance. But we perserved based upon other peoples feedback and it so glad we did! MAKE SURE YOU BOOK IN ADVANCE!

Very welcoming and polite service. Food was absolutely delicious - sweet and sour chicken, pie of the day, sea bass and salmon specials. Great to be able to eat with a sea view. We all loved it.

Very nice food that does not cost the earth and a relaxed atmosphere on the beach. Added bonus, the car park on the beach front is also free of charge. 1 x lasagne with cheesey garlic bread 2 x rib eye steaks Plus super quick from order to service.

We always visit for a drink when visiting and always commented on the lovely looking food. For this reason, we decided to have a ride out on my birthday and call at the Beach Bar for lunch. We had 2 Scampi, 1 Gammon and 1 fish & chips. All meals were served with wedges not chips which we absolutely awful. The cod and gammon was cooked well. The scampi was so tiny and overcooked. We would have complained but didn’t fancy standing in the 20 deep queue again to get the bar. The whole visit was unorganised chaos. We would definitely not return for food. Left £80 out of pocket and felt completely ripped off and definitely ruined by birthday!!

I was a bit surprised by two double gins we was charged £17.40 we had a fab day on Sutton fields as it was residents party day & something for everyone, unfortunately it was a bitter taste at the end of the day

Every time we're in the area, we always make a concerted effort to visit the Bear Bar for food. Having known Tina (head chef) from her days working at the Grange & Links, means that you're going to be eating some of the finest food, made with the most freshest and local ingredients, sprinkled with a touch of love! All dishes are delightful - make sure you take advantage of ordering from the 'Specials Board' - there's some really innovative and tasty dishes on there! The waiting on staff are always prompt and friendly - you're guaranteed service with a smile! Thanks Tina & co!

My wife and I went to The Beach Bar yesterday evening for dinner. We had a pleasant greeting, we got drinks and told our table was ready even though we were 30 minutes early. Menus were provided and the specials board pointed out. We were given adequate time to make our choices. My wife ordered from the normal menu and I had something from the specials board. My wife’s food was excellent and mine was outstanding, as good as anywhere I’ve been recently. Service was also very good and we have booked again, next time taking friends. Highly recommended and definitely worth a visit.

Good food and good staff. Entrance from car park is via a number of concrete steps. Once inside there is a great view of the sea. Dog friendly areas inside.

Another great night at the Beach Bar. Wife & I went with a friend & Food & Drink as wonderful as ever. Ordered from the specials board - curried mussels & prawns for us & Katsu prawns for our friend - followed by Tounedos Rossini (perfect m rare for me !!!), lamb rump & black pudding mash for our friend & my wife had pan fried duck breast with honey soy sauce - all perfectly presented & delicious. Just about room for puds - wife & I homemade cherry cheesecake & friend strawberry waffles. New rum range in so tried a 65% banana rum to finish. Fantastic evening & many thanks to top chef Tina & her wonderful (long standing) staff !!! Will def be back soon…

We tried to get in on Thurs night only to find that they were fully booked, we managed to get a table for the Friday evening. We're glad we did. We had meals from the specials board; fillet of sea bass with prawn thermidor sauce and a beef stroganoff. Both of these meals were delicious and the portion size fair. Nicely cooked and great flavours. These were both under £20 and the drinks were also reasonable. I had a sticky toffee pudding to follow and had to admit defeat. My only criticism would be that the beef stroganoff came with rice AND chips. It really didn't need both and some veg would have replaced either. This place doesn't look like it's going to be good, but the food is excellent. I'd definitely come again. Thanks

Another lovely meal, king prawn and smoked salmon pasta followed by hot fudge cake and ice cream and key lime pie, absolutely superb, plus friendly and punctual service.

Ordered drinks at 3.30 asked if they are serving food she replied Yes not until 5. At around 4 I went back for more drinks and asked can we have a table outside she replied No we’re fully booked I don’t know why she couldn’t have told me this when I asked previously. Rude sullen staff you need people that actually smile.

Another lovely meal at The Beach Bar to celebrate our anniversary. A good selection from the menu but we usually go for the specials board. This time I had the lovely sea bass with king prawns, cooked just right so still moist and flaky fish and juicy prawns in a nice creamy hollandaise sauce (I could have eaten it again) My partner had the duck in a wine sauce, I had a taste it was nice and tender, full of flavour. For sweet we both had home made apple pie which was full of apple encased in a lovely pastry crust. A lovely meal and a walk along the prom after. I would recommend booking in good time as this popular restaurant gets busy so avoid disappointment and reserve a table.

We had booked a table in the Beach Bar on 12 August, after many months of lockdown. We have eaten there in the past and although service was never that great, the food was always good. We arrived a little early and were shown to our table by a young lad who told us that someone would be with us soon to take our drinks order. After 15 minutes of being conspicuously ignored by waiting staff we were able to stop a waitress and ask if we could order a drink and see a menu. At first she told us that we would have to bear with her as she was taking payments. She then told us that there was no queue at the bar and we could get our own drinks. This we did. After another five minutes the waitress came back to take our order. It wasn’t until then that she gave us a menu but before we could take a look at it she began to reel off all the items that were not available - no crab, no mussels, no pie and that there was only one rib eye steak left. This was at two o’clock and nowhere near the end of service. As the sea food was what we came for, we decided to just leave. From the time we entered the bar we felt like we were just in the way. We felt we were not welcome and were totally ignored. We won’t be coming again and won’t be recommending it to anyone who asks.

We visited the beach bar for a meal on a Thursday at 6.00p.m where they advertised food being served until 7p.m. We had to wait for 10 minutes until we were finally attended and was told that they were no longer serving food. The whole staff atmosphere in the place was very sullen. We will definitely not recommend this place as we were greatly disappointed with our experience.

Considering its a miserable Thursday afternoon and his pub is empty we called in to have our tea, ordered drinks while looking at the menu and was told is was unacceptable to have the two children finish their ice cream in their outdoor / indoor picnic bench as its food from elsewhere. Would he have kicked us out into the bad weather if the kids were eating a chuupa chup lolly? So 4 meals and drinks lost due to not being friendly to kids especially in this Covid-19 world where we are trying our best to support local business. Avoid!!!

We have visited the beach bar on several occasions and have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Staff are friendly and polite, you are made to feel very welcome. We try to visit at least once a week.

I'm probably being a bit snobby, but I didn't expect much from this place. You know what they say about flat roof pubs But the food was very good and everyone enjoyed their meals. The huge crispy home made chips were a highlight. The staff were friendly too. Good covid measures in place, one way system etc.

Arrived for a weekend away popped in here to get a drink (9:05pm Friday night) noticed some people sat outside with full drinks - made my way inside - hand gel on etc bar person was at the bar busying himself with whatever (nobody else even there) he could see me so I just stood waiting politely until he finished he finally looked at me after what seemed like ages to tell me the bar was closed! That’s fair enough but at least tell me when you noticed me come through the door - oh and there was no warm welcome like “sorry were closed now hope you can come back another time!!” Something remotely hospitable would do!!! First impressions mean a lot!! So inevitably we didn’t bother going back again they don’t deserve or look like they want the business!! Plenty of other places to go to, the place didn’t even look up to much either so don’t think we missed out!!

We were looking forward to returning to the beach bar after the 3 month lockdown. The welcoming we recieved after being regular customers for several years was nothing but appalling, ignorant and rude.... and it wasn't even busy (no surprise there).The bar staff couldn't even say 'hello' to us let alone welcome back, pleased to see you again. All we got from an incredibly ignorant woman was 'what can I get you?' Only thing in her mind was how much money can we get out of these people so I can save my job..... The only staff that did appear to appreciate our custom were the waiter and waitress.... they were niceWhat a shame the beach bar staff/management don't appreciate their regular customers maybe they would get a lot more business if they did.Disgusted and angry regular customers, not sure if we'll be returning again. Tina’s restaurant in the Beach Bar is great. The menu is varied and the food is superb. And reasonably priced too.

Delicious hone made lamb and pea pie and chips followed by yummy brownie! We were in a room with the pool table, the footie and a number of dogs which might not be to everyone’s taste but if you can look past that then the food was fab!

We often eat at The Beach Bar and always recommend it to guests staying at our Bed and Breakfast Manor Farm Stay in Sutton on Sea. The quality and presentation of the meals is excellent and the waiting staff are polite and friendly. We usually pick from the Specials Board and the fish dishes (we are pescatarian) are perfectly cooked and delicious. Friends have also enjoyed the wide range of meat dishes. The restaurant is in a great location on the seafront. There is also a separate area where you can eat with your dog. The only issue we find is that it's often fully booked!

We go to the beach bar regularly for Sunday lunch. Always very good food and great service. Very popular, have to book early. Good price for quality food. Many visits, never a problem.

Called in on a quick trip to the area. We found that the staff were very friendly and didn't have to wait very long to be served. We sat outside with our drinks and enjoyed the views of the beach, before long our paninis were served to us. They tasted delicious and full of filling. We will definitely be calling again when in the area.
