The Beach at Bude in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

This is our 2nd visit this year, Hotel and staff very friendly nice to see familiar faces always have a lovely welcome, room 6 has fab view of the beach and see.

A nice hotel overlooking the beach. We had a sea view which was lovely. The room was well appointed with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. We dined there for both evenings we stayed and the food was excellent, as was breakfast in the morning. My partner and I would recommend the overnight oats. They’re served cold but were delicious. We would mark it down for the very limited off street parking (only 3 slots) for the number of rooms. There was free parking outside, but getting a space was difficult and we had to park in the beach car park a couple of times. We thought it overpriced for what was on offer but guessed calling it boutique (whatever that means) raises the price.

After a comfortable night's rest, a well balanced delicious breakfast with good selection to choose from, with pleasant attentive waiting staff

Lovely little hotel , nice location. Free on street parking outside . We stayed one night, and had dinner in the evening which was really good. The breakfast was very nice aswell. Room was pleasant, comfy bed, large bathroom, a fridge and safe in your room along with dressing gowns. The hotel is clean. Small points in the room, there was signs of a water leak / damp on one of the walls, and the bathroom floor grout was a little worse for wear, that being said it didn’t effect our stay in the slightest. Would certainly Recommend this hotel for a night away

We stayed at the hotel for two nights The food was lovely but the staff were very attentive friendly and had magnificent customer services , remembering your room number and what you had consumed It was a busy time they hosted a wedding party and also a birthday party on the same night . I can not fault the hotel on service just wished we were able to have been able to book a sea view . I managed to cut my finger and the receptionist dealt with this for me . Lovely ambience. Amazing what the chef did with Beetroot and Chickpea Ragu! Venison carpaccio also very good. And excellent service.

Why do you go to a restaurant? I go to a restaurant because I like to be fed and leave not hungry. Unfortunately if you buy Mussels as a main dish there you will most definitely be hungry by the time you leave. One single handful of mussels you’ll get. The manager is someone who thinks they know it all if you have a complaint about your food also. I’ve been there before and the burger is to absolutely die for so go there for the burger!

Nice cocktails. Lovely staff My chicken saltimbocca was nice but lacked any sage taste and the sauce that came with it was plain white and bland. A touch of tarragon would have been nice in the sauce. Cheeseboard was lovely but too much! Overall a lovely place

Romantic anniversary dinner for 2. Faultless, amazing, interesting, fresh food, impeccable service. Great cocktail menu!

I booked a room for 2 nights through booking.com and I had mentioned we are 2 adults and a child. I specifically selected a large double bed room instead of the normal double bed room, as that is what we do for the 3 of us ever since my son was born. I received a confirmation from the hotel saying 2 Adults and 0 Child. I went back to correct them that our 4 year old son will be there too. They amended the booking to add an 'extra bed' for my 4 year old and said I have to pay £100 for the extra bed, when I hadn't even requested for one (a large double bed was enough for us). They then responded saying that I have to pay £100 for the child even if I dont want an extra bed. I can understand them charging extra for the child's breakfast, if that is what was concerning them. But charging £100 for a 4 year old, I thought was ridiculous!!! I cancelled the booking now. A total rip-off! Please take note of this if you are booking a room with kids to stay with you. The food was presented well and tasted great. How ever the service was poor. Had to weight over 20 mins after we had finished our main before the plates were cleared away and then another eternity before we could order a dessert !!! Real shame.

Lovely lunch on the terrace in the sunshine .We hadn’t booked but arrived early and got a wonderful table looking out over the sea and Bude. Catch of the day was Bream and it was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back .

We stayed here for 2 nights on our recent holiday on Cornwall. We had a great stay in a lovely room overlooking the beach and bay with balcony and outdoor seating. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable with additional indoor seating . The bathroom had huge freestanding bath and large walk in shower. Great tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary bottles of water. The staff were all amazing so friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed two great breakfasts qnd dinners there. Its in a great location and we will definitely go back.

We recently spent two lovely nights at The Beach at Bude. From my first encounter with Bridget, when I called to make the booking, I just knew this was what we were looking for ! Bridget was charming and professional as she shared the attributes of the various rooms available. We settled on one with a beach view and it was definitely worth it. Upon entering the room we knew we had found a special place. The room was modern, immaculate and decorated in soft relaxing colors. There was a Juliette balcony , so we could open the doors and enjoy the ocean breeze with our glass of wine. The staff were all warm and friendly. Jayne at the reception desk, would always cheerily welcome us back when we returned from the beach. We had dinner both nights in the hotel restaurant. The food and service were excellent. It was crowded with locals and guests, so we were glad we had made reservations when booking. The gentleman tending to guests at breakfast went out of his way to make sure everyone was pleased. Unfortunately I do not remember his name (Mike?). When I heard a guest ask for an item not offered, I heard him reply “ I’ll have it for you tomorrow” ! Couldn’t have asked for more from our two day escape.

We have enjoyed, what can only be described as, an excellent lunch today. We live in Devon and regularly pop over to Bude and have passed here a number of times but have never been in. But on a glorious New Year Bank Holiday Monday it seemed rude not to take advantage of the last couple of seats on the outside terrace with far reaching views of the Atlantic. Jackie was our main waitress and she was attentive, friendly and efficient. We opted for the “Two courses for £18”, picking a main each but sharing a starter and pud to take full advantage. The food was sublime, hot and plentiful. I always take it as a good sign when cloths are needed to bring out hot plates. Nothing irks me more than hot food served on cold plates. The terrace was full of diners and people having drinks but we didn’t have to wait any longer than would be normal when it’s so busy (and it was 1.15pm when we arrived). In fact it was a pleasure to sit in the sunshine and not feel rushed. We may have walked by many times but will definitely visit again as long as it’s warm enough to sit outside as dogs aren’t welcome inside. That aside, we would both thoroughly recommend eating here. One of the best meals out we’ve had in a very long time and excellent value for money. We ate Tempura Prawns and chilli dip (shared) Fish and chips / Chicken Saltimbocca Passion Fruit and Mango Cheesecake 1.5 pints coke/1.5 pint drought cider Total £50.60 plus tip Couldn’t fault it!

Popped in on our arrival day after a long journey just after 2pm and the kindly fitted three of us in for lunch. Really enjoyed the food, Capra pizza was 10/10 and kids loved their options too including the best fries ever! Service was spot on and all at a reasonable price. Hope we can come back again

We unfortunately had to reschedule our trip due to illness and the hotel couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. The rooms were beautiful and felt so homely. Staff were lovely. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were delicious. We also had drinks in the bar. Cocktails were great! There was live music too which was a lovely surprise. Really hope to return one day. And have told friends and family about our stay already!

We went to The Beach at Bude on Christmas Eve with family and friends. Excellent meal in a warm cosy environment. Would highly recommend the goats cheese salad. It was all table service which was brilliant as it meant none of us had to move! Staff highly attentive.

This is an excellent hotel. Our room was good sized, as was the shower room. Plenty of towels, etc. The bed was comfortable, but the duvet was a little heavy, which was changed promptly. The food was absolutely fine; rather better than the expensive establishment...

I have mixed feelings about The Beach House but would like go again to try and improve my experience. Food was excellent. We are a family of 6, all different ages including children and everyone enjoyed their food. Perfectly cooked and portions were perfect. However, I booked here due to the beach vibe it gave off on the website and for me this was disappointing. The beach bar was closed and it seemed that eating outside or having a beach view were not an option which was a shame. We were sat by an amazing book shelf with a huge selection of book but again this was disappointing as we were not allowed to explore them or touch any of the very tempting titles. Our main course was served reasonably quickly and was very tasty, however we did have to wait 45 mins for our pudding which spoiled the mood slightly, particularly with younger members if the family who were keen to have their ice cream. Our dog was made very welcome which was great and the waiter took the time to chat with us and talk to our youngest member of the family about some fun stuff which was nice. As I said, mixed experience but would like to try again and would hope for a more relaxed beachy vibe.

Went in to the beach for drinks and the staff that worked on the 11 June 2021 were fab 1 women and 2 men they were so polite and had a joke on which always makes us locals feel better :) love it here and come all the time. My parents got married here 2 years ago and it’s still as great as it was then .

Spent the morning on the beach and really fancied a sit in the sun /shade with drinks and some snacks. This was the perfect place! We were lucky and went straight to a table on the terrace with a whole menu of drinks. Although they weren’t really doing food at lunchtime they had a mixed meat and cheese platter on offer which was just right. A generous portion of salami and ham with cheeses , pickles , olives and delicious bread and biscuits. The cocktails are great too!

Superb service, food and drink. Enjoyed a lovely evening on Tue 1st June at the Break Bar. Server was Calla who was very helful and polite and I also dealt with Bethany beforehand about the booking and when checking in. She was fantastic throughout. 5 star from me and we will definitely return soon. Keep up the great work

We had an overnight stay here in May, what a lovely place. We couldn't fault it at all. Great spacious room, clean and tidy, everything you needed in there. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We would definitely return. You are 2 mins from watching the best sunsets go down.

We spent a lovely evening at The Beach outside bar with a group of friends for drinks and ordered food from next door at The Deck via the QR code. It is a perfect spot to watch the sun go down over Summerleaze Beach. Despite the wind we were warm as it’s sheltered and they have heaters. The service was excellent and the staff are really friendly. I look forward to returning post covid when the hotel is fully up and running

Only came here for drinks but that was enough to persuade us that we should come back for more at a later date. Great views of the sea from the front of the bar and would be even better sat outside in the warmer weather. Nice ambience, the place looks great, the service was excellent, staff very friendly, prices not cheap but you would expect that and it's good value nonetheless, we will be back.

So after a long anticipated wait for The Beach at Bude to extend their opening from only staying guests to serving locals in their lovely bar area our visit didn’t go to plan. When we first arrived my eager husband walked straight past the ‘wait to be seated sign’ and walked straight to the bar. A disgruntled barman said ‘reservations only’ to which my husband replied we have a reservation, to which the barman said ‘well back of the queue then’. Bare in mind, it was only myself waiting there. My husband hasn’t been out since the COVID restrictions and it was all a little new for him. After spending 1.5hrs at a table, waited on by a fab member of staff (grey haired chap and lady with dark hair), we settled our bill and were on our way out for a meal, ready to return for our drinks reservation at The Beach at 9:30pm. As I was leaving, I asked the disgruntled, and fairly brash barman if we could change our reservation to 9pm instead of 9:30pm to which his reply was ‘9:45pm’. I showed my Facebook reservation to him and his response ‘I don’t deal with Facebook’. I said it doesn’t give us much time and if I knew this was going to be the situation I would have organised a reservation somewhere else. His response was ‘you get 15 minutes’. His attitude was awful and he did upset me. My husband then was rude to him, which I don’t/or didn’t condone or agree with so I ask him to leave, apologised for his behaviour and the bar man said ‘you aren’t welcome back’. We left and I returned to get the bottle of wine I’d put back, to find the owner talking to the bar man. I explained the situation to him. He didn’t seem at all bothered, which is absolutely fine by me. We run a local business and support local businesses to the best we can before and throughout COVID. We will, however, never step foot back in to The Beach at Bude. For a situation to spiral and us as customers being made to feel unimportant is just disgusting. Never will I return!

Have just returned from a 2 night stay in Room 16 at The Beach. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was beautiful with a Juliette balcony overlooking the beach, extremely spacious with a large bathroom with free standing bath, huge shower and his and hers sink. Large screen TV, Coffee machine and mini bar fridge. Seating area overlooking the view was brilliant for afternoon tea and pre-dinner drinks. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice including smashed avocado and sour dough with poached eggs as well as the more traditionial full Cornish breakfast. The restaurant wasn't open but they gave us lots of different alternatives all within a minute or so's walk from our room. Thoroughly recommend this hotel - couldn't have asked for more comfort during our wet and windy 2 day stay by the coast.

Really enjoyed our one night stay here. Very comfortable beds, great shower and superb breakfast. Great room decor. No view but we knew that before we booked and no problem fir one night. Only reason for 4 stars is that their restaurant isn’t open. But give it a try. We loved it.

Each time we return the service and food quality seem to diminish a little further. We waited a very long time for starters and ended up not wanting dessert. Cocktails were very poor. Wine and the view always reliable!

We stayed three nights in room 5 and had a lovely stay. Comfortable bed, very quiet, we slept so well. Breakfast was lovely. It felt very safe with all the precautions in place. We have also eaten at the restaurant previously and that has also been great. Hopefully it reopens soon.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Limited parking but we was lucky to get on the road at the front of the hotel.The hotel is in a great location right on summerleaze beach. Quite modern inside and our room matched the impression we got when we walked in the hotel.All staff were friendly. The breakfast was really nice.The only real niggle is 80% of the draft drinks were unavailable on our stay and it is a shame the restaurant has remained closed.

Our bedroom was gorgeous. It was very stylish, large, and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also beautiful - contemporary, elegant and on trend. I think we may have got one of the nicest rooms, with a view to the front and beach. The public areas were also very modern and of a high standard. Sadly the restaurant wasn't open when we were there but the staff gave us some local recommendations. The staff were smart and friendly and looked good. This was my first time at this hotel (and first time in Bude) but I will definitely be back.

I've never seen so many dogs in my life. They was everywhere. They was fighting and doing there business all over the beach.

Having returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel, we will not be returning. I was shocked and stunned that during our visit no members of staff wore any face masks or visors at any point, not at reception, or the cleaners, the bar staff or the restaurant staff. None of the other guests wore face coverings either.The hotel advertises "free parking" however there are actually only 3 parking spaces for the whole hotel. You can park on the road, but again, soaces are very limited so you will have to be lucky to get a,soace anywhere near the hotel.At no point during booking, or speaking to staff prior to our stay did anyone mention that the hotel waa currently only offering Bed and Breakfast. This information isn't obvious on its website either. Because of this, we has real problems finding somewhere to eat in the evenings, everywhere was full, we struggled to order a takeaway, so ended up buying food from the Sainsbury's around the corner. The room itself was lovely and the hotel is in a good location for the beach, however this was not the luxury boutique hotel it sells itself to be. On one evening we were sat in the bar and couldn't enjoy our drink, as it felt more like a youth club, even though it was gone 9pm, there were kids coming and going with their takeaways, moving furniture and just being generally raucous with no respect for other guests. All in all, very disappointing and overpriced, a waste of our hard earned money!

Had a delicious meal, staff are extra friendly and they even have fun board games to play while you wait.

So for our first holiday since lockdown we ventured to Bude and stayed here for 3 nights.Great location high up on the cliff overlooking Summerleaze beach. Parking was limited, 3 spaces at the front, but they have extra round the back and let you block their garages.Covid 19 restrictions were in place so only residents were allowed in the hotel bar. The restaurant was closed but they were more than happy with you getting takeaways and bringing them back to eat.The room was lovely, we had one at the front with the view. No house cleaning whilst you are there (due to restrictions) but that was fine.Breakfast was tasty and the Staff were friendly and very attentive.Great stay and would stay again!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Usually if we book a long weekend we eat in the hotel for one night, then eat elsewhere for the rest of the stay. We ended up not only eating here every evening, but returning from long walks chose to eat late lunch here every day as well - and were warmly welcomed though the restaurant was very busy. The food was excellent, there were good choices, and it was reasonably priced.All the staff throughout the hotel were wonderful, and our room was superb - this hotel is a great find.

Three of us ate lunch here and the views are amazing. Good choice from the lunch menu with 2 for £12 specials. Drinks reasonably priced. All in all a good place to visit and will return again when in the area.

Visited twice this week food excellent, staff efficient and helpful, beautiful, tasteful surroundings and stunnning views what a treasure.

We had read about the Beach in the Times a while ago and as we visit the area a few times each year, we thought we would try lunch here for my birthday. We were surprised that the place wasn't closer to the sea, as the Times and the hotel website seemed to suggest. We had trouble finding anywhere to park and had to use a pay and display, then walk a few hundred yards in pouring rain - the Hotel did no appear to have a car park. We were happily surprised at the lunch time menu, very good value at £12 for 2 courses. For starters, the Cornish new potato soup was very good, the Mushroom pasta just OK - nice parmesan sauce, but the pasta was a little thick and chewy. For mains, the Pork belly was good, but unfortunately I chose the Scampi and Fries. There was a really good portion of breaded scampi, however, it needed cooking a bit more - one piece in particular was not cooked in the middle. The Fries were just a frozen chip fried; I always find frozen chips a great disappointment, especially in what seemed to be a "higher end" establishment. I really should have gone for the Salmon, which I saw another guest having and which looked very nice (I don't eat meat). On the plus side, the selection of wines was good and reasonably priced. The "Proper Job" beer was good too. The staff were also very friendly, professional and attentive, although I did point out the scampi issue and just got a "sorry".

Stayed here for 3 nights and had a fabulous time. Our room was lovely, during our stay we met so many members of staff in different roles and each and everyone was lovely, very friendly and made us feel very welcome....we ate in the restaurant for the 3 nights, the food was lovely and service very good. Beach at Bude would be our first choice when back in the area. Thank you to all the staff for a fabulous weekend.

We arrived for a 3 night stay on 28th February....from the minute we walked in we loved it!! We met Jayne on reception who made us feel so welcome....her warmth and professionalism top class!! We were shown to our room which we loved....we had early drinks and dinner ....staff in the bar were lovely, very friendly ....dinner was delicious! Looking forward to the rest of our weekend. Definitely recommend....we will be back.

An empty restaurant, the staff were slow and ill informed. The menus were dog eared and grubby, no specials.We were a group of four celebrating a 60th birthday, none of us enjoyed our starters or the main course. On line the restaurant sounded great, the real life experience was dreadful.Three of us has upset stomachs the following day.

Went to the beach today for our mums 60th birthday! Amazing value for money and the food was totally delicious and the staff were ever so nice! We had our two little children with us and everyone was very kind and attentive! Would highly recommend

What a wonderful place! My Husband & I spent the afternoon enjoying Summerleaze beach and wanted to watch the sunset. Having previously spotted The Beach, we decided to head there for dinner & drinks. We had drinks outside on the decking to watch the sun setting and then moved Into the restaurant once it was too chilly, and ordered our meal. For us the food was outstanding and incredibly good value. We were shocked at how little we had to pay once we got our bill! The staff are attentive without intruding and the Menu is fantastic. If we lived locally this would be a regular place to visit for us. Shame we were on holiday!! Thank you for a lovely meal and evening.

Excellent vegetarian and vegan food. Had a lovely evening here Saturday 08/02/2020 and were amazed at how good the veggie food was. Good quality tasty food beautifully presented. Loved the crispy tofu starter and the lentil dhal with cauliflower and fabulous sauce. Service was good; friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will return.

Not many options for dining out at the moment but this is a popular favourite. Really good value lunch menu and good quality too.

A sunny, blue-skied January day took us to Bude. Lovely walk along the beach and we then decided to give The Beach a go for lunch. Sooo glad that we did. Great menu - not just the usual stuff - lovely setting, friendly service, and wonderful food. Heartily recommend the whitebait and salmon. A great value from the special menu. We'll be back.

Came across this restaurant by coincidence. The service was very good, friendly staff, quick and attentive. Food was even better, we had the rump steak and the pork. The portion was perfect, we are not big eaters so therefore we didn’t order any sides. Well recommended, we will definitely go back!

Four of us went for lunch the week just after new year. Both the restaurant and bar were about half full which made it comfortable for atmosphere and service. There was a set lunch menu with about 5 or 6 choices for each course, and was really good value. The service was excellent and the food fantastic. One of my absolute favourites skate wing was on the menu. Couldn’t fault anything. We have eaten here a couple of times before and they were great experiences too. Thank you.

We found this restaurant on a flying visit to Bude - the menu looked great and we were not disappointed. The bar area is decorated beautifully and the restaurant is modern, chic and stylish but not intimidating. The young girl who served us was lovely - really nice to have such nice service as well. The potato soup was gorgeous. All the food was great- we couldn’t fault it. We managed to squeeze in a pudding and they were awesome. I had tonka bean brûlée and it was the best texture brûlée I’ve had. Everything was tasty, well presented ( loved the crockery)and the lunch deal was amazing value. Will look forward to going again as soon as possible!

We visited the Beach while staying with family who live in Bude. Six of us had starters and main courses all of which were well received. Service was good and prices were reasonable. We will definitely return when back in Bude.

Our second stay in this boutique style hotel. Loved it again. Lovely staff - especially all the ladies on reception. Best views in Bude to enjoy from the decking and restaurant. I have now booked a special birthday lunch for 15 of us in May.

Because of my very disappointing evening at the beach last time l was truly hoping this was to be an improvement Booked a table after Christmas for my family when we arrived the bar staff were very disinterested didn’t even have the manners to say good evening too busy talking to each other .On our second round of drinks we asked for a menu which was promptly given to us unfortunately it was only a bar menu not the normal menu l wanted to take my family out for a special meal not a bar meal We decided not to stay when leaving my husband had a word with the receptionist that the evening had been spoilt and would not be staying.We said that on booking at no time was it mentioned that it would not be a ala carte menu and she said it is Christmas and they had a private party the next day that s why it was what it was .I have no problem with that but let people knew don’t treat customers with disrespect if l had wanted a bar meal there are lots of places to go in Bude At this time the chef was at reception and he agreed we should have been told .Its a shame all the staff were just hanging around waiting for any food customers who seemed to be visibly absent.This place needs to get its act together staff training first priority Will not be going back there is only so many times you can be disappointed

On a very wet Christmas Eve lunchtime we were warmly welcomed at The Beach. A party of 10 accomadated even though we had not booked. Reduced menu but a good choice with gluten free options. All very happy with our meals. Excellent cocktails too.

Our third choice as other restaurants were full, though we weren't disappointed.

went for a birthday celebration, we were not told that we would be seated next to a couple of christmas parties, so it was very noisy...

Great bar area and well situated to the beach. Good food although portions are quite small and side dishes are not included in the main cost and are an extra £5 each which made the main course quite expensive.

Stunning location with friendly staff. Excellent room very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Food of a high standard. The hotel was buzzing with atmosphere I would recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

Went late summer was not impressed but went last week and it was excellent my husband had the venison which could not have been bettered and there was enough meat on the plate to well satisfy the most discerning of dinners again service excellent we enjoyed it so much we are going back next week with the family

Enjoyed an autumn mid week break at this gem of a beach hotel. It is literally on the beach so you can walk from your room through the hotel and their garden onto Widemouth Bay. It was stormy but that didn't bother us as we had a beach walk almost to ourselves. Followed by yummy Pad Thai (generous portion) and Seafood curry which was outstanding. Comfy bed and clean attractive room - with great sea views so we could watch the storm come in. The staff were really friendly and the subtle boho decor made it really cosy and relaxing. A really lovely stay. Highly recommended. The photo was taken from our room the next morning when the storm had passed.

Warm enough to enjoy our drinks on the outside terrace to enjoy the great view of Summerleaze beach. Good choice of drinks and excellent service. Went back later for a meal in the restaurant and was pleased with menu choices and the service. Reasonably priced for a very enjoyable meal.

My wife and I spent a few days at The Beach a couple of weeks ago. On entering we were greeted cheerfully and enthusiastically by Jane. She booked us in and took us to our beautiful room with views across the river end beach. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She answered and gave us good information. The food was great and Michael in charge of the restaurant was very helpful and knowledgeable giving great recommendations for bot food and wine. Overall a great stay .

Visited mid week during half term. The food is reasonably priced and was extremely tasty. The only downside was during the dessert course. A coffee arrived very quickly but it took 20 minutes to bring a simple plate of cheese and biscuits. Other than that a really good experience.

Lovely hotel, beautiful rooms very friendly staff. Just a few points which I think could improve your stay there. You cant get into your room until 3pm which if your only staying one or two days is very inconvenient especially the fact that when you leave you have to vacate by 10am ( a 5 hour window for the hotel) Food was very good but a full english breakfast was lacking especially for the price. One small egg, one small sausage, 2 small rashers of streaky bacon a mushroom and a tomato and toast, not what I call a hearty breakfast. It may seem pickie but at £150 a night could be so much better.

Couldn’t have asked for more for a treat night away x lovely room, comfy bed, wonderful reception staff, divine food, friendly bar and restaurant staff,fab breakfast x all wonderful xxx this hotel makes you feel welcome and at home x well done x

Booked a table for 1230 and, due to an emergency, one party member was delayed by an hour. The manager appeared totally unphased and went out of his way to make us welcome despite the disruption. He staggered to food service to ensure we all ate together with excellent food from a varied menu.
