Booked in Oct for 7 people at 3pm, Not enough notice to have chips , cheese and onion pie? Goodness know what the people tonight have a choice off. 2 People ordered a burger from the lunch menu, turns out the burger on the lunch menu is only 1 burger cut into two ? So half a beef Pattie each… shocking Don’t order cheese as an extra, £2 for a teaspoon of grated cheese.. terrible. Bun was dry, hard and burnt. Fries were cold Prawn pasta charge was supposed to be £8.95 what a joke, a hand full of pasta in tomato sauce, a small piece of garlic bread and 5 prawns… then they tried to charge £15.95 4 lots of fish and chips ordered @ £8.50 mashed peas were tinned garden peas squashed ? Fries were cold, fish not bad. Bottle of house wine £28……. Try the Crooked Billet across the road for pie and peas at least you won’t be disappointed.

Having visited the Bay Horse on a few occasions and enjoyed the food our visit yesterday was disappointing. On ordering I was told the fish pie did not contain prawns (after consultation with the chef) . On arrival it did . The waitress just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. It's a good job I don't have an allergy to prawns. My husbands gammon on the bone was overcooked and grandsons chips looked as though they had been dipped in the fryer. I can only think there is a different chef. Will be reluctant to return.

I came with a friend & ordered a lamb dinner. Big mistake, I had oil separated gravy poured over the entire meal, overcooked veg & 2 tiny roast potatoes that had been kept warm far to long & you couldn't cut them. On top of that we were charged £4 for the smallest pot of mint sauce I've ever seen. Will I return definitely not.

Been twice before had a bit of a dried up steak pie and cold mash but it was a few days after its refurb opening day didnt go back for many many mths then thought give it a go again on 21st june2022 Beautiful food so came again with a friend on SUNDAY 17TH JULY 2022 we both had lamb roast dinner OMG what a complete failure teaspoon of sweed&carrots 4 limp snap peas and 3 pieces of soggy broccoli 🥦 but it was 1 stalk cut into 4 pieces roast potatoe again cut in quarters got 2 of those in effect half roast 🥔 but had been kept warm far to long struggled cutting into it but the fanfare of the dish was the minted gravy which was poured all over the meal obviously made with Far,Far to much juices of the lamb as the waitresses put the plate down we watched with horror the fat separate from gravy all round the plate LAMB GRAVY IS LOVELY MADE RIGHT NOT LIKE THAT and we paid £39.99 😡 I know people will say dont pay but not one to cause a fuss just wont ever go back again there loss maybe that why there wernt many customers in people become wise and also want more than a child potion sorry to say this but theses so called chefs need proper training or your business will go BUST. oh while we were there 2 other lamb dinners from other tables were sent back.bye 👋

For the price the quality wasn't great, I had a Buddha bowl which as mainly leaves and a sprinkle of every else. To add chicken was £5 which is OK if the chicken didn't taste like spoons chicken, dry and completely unseasoned. The flat bread was nice and so was the sticky toffee pudding. Probably wouldn't return.

Poor service from the start, had to wait far to long while staff stood talking and poor lazy cooking. The burger was dry and the brisket was just slice roast beef.

Have been to this restaurant on a number of previous occasions and enjoyed the food. A most recent visit resulted in two complaints with regard to the Phili cheese, steak, toasted sandwiches .The steak was mostly fat on both of the plates and reminiscent that steak scraps had been used in the preparation of the sandwiches. Will consider if we should return to the restaurant at some time in the future.

Lovely restaurant, pleasant atmosphere, easy booking experience online. Service was good, very attentive and polite from all staff. The food/breakfast was ok, nothing really wrong with it just ok, well presented. My husband is a vegetarian and there was no vegetarian breakfast option available so had to settle for scrabbled egg on toast which again was ok. Don’t think we will be rushing back anytime soon which is a shame as it’s a lovely pub.

We ate here last week and everything was perfect from start to finish. All of the staff were really attentive, keen and kind. The food was delicious and didn't take long to arrive, drinks were great and the premises look fantastic. Would highly recommend!

We were recommended to eat here and we were not disappointed. The new refurbishment is very well done with some witty additions - the back seat cushions are held on by leather straps with bridle bits, love that attention to detail. The service was prompt, very friendly and there was a real sense of pride in the whole offering of the Bay Horse. Now, the food - absolutely delicious! I believe it is a new chef and he is a treasure and cooks with great skill and flair. We started with a chicken liver pate then had the local lamb rump. It was perfectly cooked and very tender. The accompanying vegetables were stars in their own right so every mouthful was a treat. Dessert was one of the best sticky toffee puddings I have eaten - I hate to say it but I think it at least equalled my. favourite recipe at home. I will have to test it on his lordship this weekend to see what he thinks. Overall, a superb addition to the local restaurant scene and, although there as a visitor to the area, I wish I were a local. Amy, as the manager, has a real passion for everything the Bay Horse stands for - keep on, you are doing a magnificent job!

Booked in on 13/08/21,not a warm or friendly welcome from the Young Lady(long black hair)just a have you booked.Starter of prawn cocktail was just left in the middle of the table and not put in front of me ? Why? Hardly any prawn sauce or a spoon to eat with had to ask, other starters were nice.We were asked if we had finished with our starters to which we replied yes then the young man waiter took away our salt & pepper to a table outside, which was weird like they were short of salt & pepper,Very odd,I mentioned this too him when he came back for our plates he just said Oh sorry, never brought any back I had to ask one of the young girls and she just rolled her eyes when I told her,she was nice and apologised and brought us more.Main courses the burger was pink in the middle and the chips on all our meals were hard and scraps, mentioned this and chef said sorry, where has this chef come from he cannot cook chips properly, lovely steak pie lean meat and tasty but no extra gravy very dry and a pathetic portion of kale no other veg.Mentioned the the waitress when they eventually came to clear our plates that we hadn’t enjoyed our experience here and would she mention this to the manager whom was clearly visible too us,but unconcerned and obviously inexperienced and does not know how to deal with customer complaints.we were appalled really that she hadn’t bothered to come over and discuss this with us. They are only interested in getting there money back from the refurbishment and not providing an excellent dining experience.I recommend that the management and staff book a meal at the New Waggoners or Bertrams whom provide excellent customer service from start to finish from there front of house to the waiting on staff as last night was very poor here in several areas. The bill came and had drinks on from the table of two behind us so that needed to be rectified. This was a celebratory meal which was ruined. Also another table complaining about there meal so if you are thinking of booking think again.

We have eaten in here a few times before and always found the food to be very good, if not a little slow in service. The last couple of times however I noticed the menu had changed drastically - I assume a change in management or chef. The choices are limited and the service extremely slow, despite the pub being quiet. The food is very average and not very well presented - no side salad or extras, which given the price (£9 - £11 per main) you would expect. The menu also has numerous appalling spelling mistakes; not a good first impression. At our most recent visit the table next to ours returned their food twice due to the poor quality. I won't be back nor would I recommend it to others - shame as it's a well kept pub in a good location.

Upon my arrival I was welcomed by a friendly man I believe to be the manager who was very sociable and welcoming. The new management and food are amazing assets to the pub since it has changed hands and I would highly recommend this to a friend or family member. Also love the fantastic selection of reasonably priced beers! X

It wasn’t a great experience because I got kicked out for entering the pool area when I was underage but I didn’t see why we couldn’t play pool but some guy shouted at me for it but in my opinion what is more dangerous , drinking alcohol or playing pool?
