Wished we'd grabbed a takeaway instead of eating in. Food okay but place not too clean.

Just been for a meal with 7 family members for a significant birthday.. Great dishes for all of us. Good quality and tasty food and drink all round.

We had the roast beef and pork, absolutely gorgeous! The puddings are divine too, the staff are very attentive without being too much. We were only visiting for the day otherwise we'd definitely return! Highly recommend, I'd book to be sure of a table. Dog friendly, well worth a visit, clean toilets. I guarantee you won't be disappointed! Thanks for an all round lovely experience much appreciated! X

Popped in here a couple of Sundays ago on the off chance that there might be a table available for Sunday Lunch. We had our dog with us and they managed to accommodate us in the bar area. The pub itself is a lovely, traditional pub and really well kept. The staff are all friendly and attentive. Our Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious and also served on hot plates which we do like. This is a family run pub with son at front of house doing a superb job (sorry, forgot your name!) and parents in the kitchen turning out quality food. Highly recommended and we will be back soon.

Called in with two friends for a pint and a snack yesterday. Great welcome from the staff, clean and nice looking pub/ restaurant with lots of out door seating. Good hand pumped cask beer 3 choices and plenty of lager etc. sandwiches with chips and salad were great. When passing will definitely call in again.

We decided to give the Bay Horse a try after reading the reviews regarding their fish Dishes. The Cod loin with prawns from the specials Board was delicious and well worth the wait. The service was very good although the wait was a bit too long considering the pub wasn't particularly busy. However we would definitely return as the food is very good.

The Bay Horse is a nice traditional two roomed pub. The bar is dog friendly. There is a good choice of beers lager and cider including three very reasonably priced hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The real ale was in excellent condition when I called in. I didn't have anything to eat, but the menu did look very tempting. I would like to come back and try the food. It's a great pub for real ale drinkers.

We had Sunday lunch, it was very tasty, the staff were friendly and helpful, it was a lovely atmosphere, nice beer garden and dog friendly, perfect!

If you want to eat,book it far well in advance. Very difficult to find a table available 😞

The food was excellent, really good steak, kidney and smoked oyster pudding; and the chips were grade A.

We had the scallops to start which where perfect and so fresh. The mussels for the main with fries where just to die for. Service was perfect and the landlord was so knowable about the menu the young lady was lovely too and checked back on use. All washed down with the best smoothest sauvonour wine I can say iv ever had. Perfect atmosphere just right for 2 ladies to put the world to right. Thank you We had a wonderful time, see you soon 😊

A great place to spend Sunday Lunch.

Went with family the Saturday before mother's Day, to celebrate. I had the sea bass, with chips and vegetables. This was the best I have had for a long time. 2 large pieces of sea bass with mussels and prawns, served with an array of green beans, samphire and broccoli, cooked to perfection. Very very good.

Real good, first time I had the burger which was excellent but on my second visit had roast duck that was incredible! Also had scallops on both visits as they were awesome!

Great Place for a drink, lunch or dinner . Best place in MW for food . Staff are very friendly and helpful and would definitely make a pit stop here if you’re looking for a good place to eat at reasonable prices .

Sunday dinner. Can't go wrong with a roast. Service was a little slow, but not annoyingly so, and when the food did arrive it was fantastic, great roast dinners all round. We will be back.

The food here is wonderful, the service a little erratic. Well worth the money. Definitely going back.

Great food and drinks all at a fair price. Cosy feel to the place. Need to book if you want to eat here in the restaurant, the bar offers a great place for drinks and has a great atmosphere. Plenty of seating outside if the weather is ok, and some parking to the rear.

Absolutely recomend, great food , service on the ball . We had a wonderful Xmas dinner. Very reasonable price's.

First time in the Bay Horse after living within walking distance for 5 months. 4 of us Sunday lunchtime, 2 roast beef and 2 beef pies. The food was excellent, nicely cooked, hot and plentiful. The only problem we had was choosing from the extensive menu. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were always nearby if you wanted anything without rushing you or hovering. Good selection of drinks from the bar. Our first time here but certainly not our last.

An absolute hidden gem. We’ve eaten at many restaurants over the last couple of years including Michelin star establishments and this was top of the pile. And it’s on our doorstep!! The food was beautifully presented and superbly cooked and the service was friendly. The only down side was the fact that because we’d booked early due to the restaurant being booked up later there was no one else in so it lacked atmosphere but I imagine later in the evening it would be much better. Can’t wait to go back!!!

We were 4 walkers on the Yorkshire Wolds Way and ate dinner here after a day’s walking. We all loved the food as well as the friendly and helpful service. Gluten free options were readily available.

I’ve been here probably 10 times or more now. I usually order something from the specials board. I often go with a friend and our children and I like the fact that they do food children actually like. The restaurant itself is very charmingly rustic with candles on the table. I like the feeling of this place it’s very relaxing and the food is delicious. Try the steak pie it’s lush

Food exceptional, staff attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Dog friendly, with a calm and relaxed interior. One of the best pub meals we have ever had, every item of food had been treated with care and respect and it really showed. The ribeye steak was tremendous as was the lemon tart! Thank you to all the staff.

We visited this small restaurant on a very chilly Saturday night and were impressed with by the unusual choice of food available. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Service was good but not outstanding, with quite acceptable amount of time between ordering and food delivery (just). Pricing was relatively expensive but food was good. Good choice of wine, even low alcohol ones (not to my taste though!)

This is an excellent pub and restaurant. The quality of the beer and the food is outstanding - fresh fish is a speciality and the menu options are varied and creative. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and the food and drink are very good value for money.

Absolutely fantastic meal at the Bay Horse. The quality of the food was phenomenal and my husband had a dish (mussel and prawn chowder) that he said was the best thing he’d tasted in years. We had 3 courses each and the bill, including drinks, was £70. Brilliant value for excellent food. We’ll be back.

Having eaten all over the world in many wonderful restaurants - I can wholeheartedly say that this is nothing short of perfection. The ambiance and service are first class and as for the food, this knocks spots of many a Michelin starred restaurant, the quality and skill in which dishes are created and presented must be experienced to be appreciated. This is an absolute gem. Thank you.

Never been to this pub before and went on the recommendation of a friend. It was excellent - the best pub food that I have tasted for a very long time. My only criticism was that the service was a bit slow but we weren't in a hurry and it was certainly worth waiting for.

Good pub well looked after, friendly staff,excellent quality of food and good value, only had sandwiches but well worth the 8.50.

Wow ! Is all I have to say. I’d been recommended this place to eat and especially for the fish. A couple of us went to eat and from setting foot in the door felt very welcome. The ambiance and feeling of the place is warm and friendly. The food is in a class of it’s own. I had the Fish Pie and was excited the moment I tucked in. A perfect balance of fish and sauce to potato. Utterly gorgeous. Lovely veg and salad too. And I don’t think I’ve yet eaten a chip anywhere on earth and had to ask When paying the bill if they could tell me how they cooked them. Their chips make you stop eating and question their lushness after your brain gets excited. Honestly ! These are the best chips anywhere. This means this now has to be my goto place locally to eat as the food is fantastic. If you haven’t ever been to the Bay Horse, and I hadn’t; you must go. You’ll enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Lovely staff and comfortable surroundings. Well done to the team that work there for making the visit a perfect experience.

We went for lunch earlier today. The sandwiches we had were packed full of filling and the chips were so tasty. Very friendly staff & helped every time we needed anything. I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone in the area.

Quick drink with friends on the way home

Before I get stuck in I will say the staff here are fantastic. Super friendly and nothing is too much trouble, atmosphere is nice (although can be a bit tricky to navigate with a pram). Unfortunately the food here just hasn't lived up to expectation (or price) on the three times I've visited. Most recently a bacon cheeseburger and chips. Chips were "fine" nothing special but nothing to complain about, however the burger was overcooked by my standards (prefer a medium rare, wasn't asked), was VERY greasy leaving a puddle on the plate and had a strange aftertaste reminiscent of liver. The other order on my table was a cheese sandwich and chips, and there were two other tables (totalling 6 of us) eating. With that in mind almost an hour wait for food was a bit of a surprise. I'd recommend going here for a drink 100%, but I don't think I would return for food. That said, some people absolutely rate the meals here so please consider this a case of "not to my taste"

It was a family gathering on Easter Sunday, the service and food was excellent, well worth a visit but I understand you need to book well in advance as it is extremely popular. Will definately go again very soon.

This is a lovely little pub, friendly welcoming staff, child and pet friendly, very cosy and traditional interior, great atmosphere. We went for Sunday lunch and so glad we did, the food is of excellent quality, all home made using fresh ingredients, price is very reasonable, some of the best food we have ever had, the garlic mushroom bruschetta with Chorizo and the chocolate brownie with ice cream were particular favourites, we will definitely be returning, a real jewel right on our doorstep, I can't recommend this place enough. Fantastic!
