The Barrels in Herefordshire, County of

I'd like to give no stars and a scathing review to keep the riff-raff out. BUT that would be unfair. Fabulous place, fabulous beer and fabulous people. I go roughly every month or two to meet friends from Shropshire and mid Wales (I live in Gloucester) it's the mid point between us and we love it there. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Toilets being refurbished so they have portoloos.

A solid pint pub. Wye valley beers on tap.

My friends and I enjoyed an excellent at the Barrels. Fine ales and malt whiskey plenty of seats. It was a very welcoming atmosphere from staff and other customers Should you be around Hereford do make sure to stop by there.

Nice pub with a good selection of draft beers. No food which is a nice change as it has more of an atmosphere.

Lovely pint. Bar staff were kind and helpful. Fantastic beer garden with heaters for those feeling the cold. Nice range of Ales, larger, ciders and spirits. Atmosphere very good, with quizzes and a real sense of community

Friendly warm pub. Staff are knowledgeable obout their own products and always willing to give advice. Bloody good beers help make it not only my local but one for everyone.

Friday lunchtime.. No food, miserable staff, lack of atmosphere.. Place needs some love and attention.

Nice pub with a big outdoor seating area to the rear. I feel it’s had a refurb as didn’t look like other pictures we’d seen on reviews. Tv screens around showing sport including F1 which is good to know for future visits! Good beers and prices.

A friendly, traditional pub, owned by the Wye Valley brewery, so, serving local beer. Pleasant atmosphere - I guess mostly regulars- who erre happy to stop and chat with a visitor to the area

decent pub. good selection of beers, but not particularly much to be said for the atmosphere or decoration of the pub, so only four stars.

Wye Valley Brewery - the best beer in Hereford, served in the best ale pub. Always worth popping in.

Great beer and service, 1st found this pub 4yrs ago whilst house hunting, I try to fet back there when visiting Hereford

Didn't eat so can't comment on food but excellent selection of ales and a great atmosphere, especially when a live band is playing out back. Called in for random drinks while visiting Hereford for a wedding and had a great time. Very affordable too!

Popped in while in Hereford to watch Wales v Australia Game was a bit disappointing as a Welsh supporter but the pub was fantastic Great beer Friendly staff Brilliant atmosphere

Love the Barrels, especially the beer garden they even sell low alcohol Stowfords press which is rather nice. Would I recommend, hell yes its a big thumbs up from me 👍

A great pub for socialising. This is a place where people from all walks of life meet to drink and chat. Some great beers and ciders too. Just be prepared to jostle your way to the bar on Friday and Saturday nights.

The barrels is one of my local hangouts, always a brilliant atmosphere and fantastic, friendly service. I've gotten to know a few of the staff members, and they're always lovely and wonderful to chat to. It's one of the most reasonably priced pubs, too! They have a large outside area for the hot summer nights, and it's covered over in winter to keep you dry with plenty of heaters to keep you warm. The barrels is an all year favourite of mine.

Good service good bunch of people and most of all are really good point and still a lot cheaper than most pubs

Had a meeting in the back room but did get to sample a pint of Butty Bach. The clientele covers all ages from 18 to 80. Staff are pleasant and alert. Can get a bit noisy especially in the outside undercover area. Beer is excellent which might explain this pub's popularity.

Staff are lovely, but the clientele are more rowdy than usual 😞😞😞 people offering me 'powder' In the toilet... Never used to be like this. Sad times 😞😞😞

The Barrels never fails to supply great beer, service atmosphere, and conversation. It is a pleasure to go there every time. If you're visiting Hereford The Barrels should be on your list of places to visit.

great pub with immaculately cask ales, local or visiting, this place is a great find

Had a couple of pints with a pal tonight. Barmaid was lovely and so was the gent clearing the bar at the end of the evening. I was drinking Butty Bach which is a lovely beer. Couldve sat there for hours and drank many more if thered been more time!

Just appalling inflexible jobsworth attitude from two individuals at this pub. My near 19 yr old son travelled from near malvern, as designated driver, with his friends to watch the rugby cup final last night and was thrown out just before kick off. On being asked to prove ID at the bar (he looks early 20s) he realised he'd not put his driving license into the case of a new phone. Obtained a message from his mom (!) with a picture of both his license and his passport but refused service. Was happy to forgo the one beer he'd have as driving and went to to sit with friends (who all look younger but had ID) but was then approached and told to leave. Watched 1st half of the game on phone in car on his own. Honestly some people in this country - I dispair and certainly would not recommend this pub.

Best beers in the world, can't rate the food as it only serves standard snack Fayre, definitely order the butty Bach you won't be disappointed

Proper pub! Went in the daytime on a Monday so was quiet but played a few games of pool and a cracking juke box. Cheap quality drinks as well. Shame was no food other than crisps etc but can't believe I've not been here before. Will be back!!!

Excellent Wye Valley ale. Quite busy especially the large covered outdoor area.

A fine pour of Butty Bach enjoyed by all. Friendly atmosphere and dog friendly. Cozy rooms from which to sip our brews. We'll be back later in the week for the beer festival. Look forward to tasting the well reviewed meals

What a great traditional pub. Perfect beer. Great company, chat and snacks. If you like good beer, do not miss this place out on your Hereford visit. Great pint as usual, chatted with the locals and dog lovers outside. I wouldn't want to drink anywhere else in Hereford.

It's always a pleasure going to the barrels. A fantastic and consistent pub I've been frequenting for many a year now. Great ales that are always as they should be, a very friendly atmosphere (I've never seen any trouble there), great staff and a fantastic looking pub overall. Easily one of the best pubs in the country.

If you're not a local, you will wait to be served a lot longer. Rude locals push in and the barstaff just as bad for serving them first. Probably interbreeding going on as well.

Great pub with nice drinks, great music and a brilliant atmosphere. Called here for some drinks one evening and it was a really good time. The staff were friendly and efficient, the drinks were good, not too expensive and we didn't have to wait to be served despite it being quite busy here. Great atmosphere and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Visited at the end of a day trip from Brum. Glad we chose this from the many pubs on offer. Great beers friendly staff (and locals), looks were spotless. Recommended.

Best pub in Hereford! 🥰🥰🥰 Always worth a visit from the Wye Valley beers to the spacious beer garden and the friendly welcoming staff.

If you are within the Hereford City Area, just GO ! Haven't rate 'food' as they don't do it. Fabulous staff! Very knowledgeable about their ales, Larger etc, and very, very, helpful & Knowledgeable about other pubs in the area. Hereford bars don't see it as a competition! They see it as 'their' area! A sort of, 'one for all, & all for one' sort of thing...... I highly recommend, The Barrel, & The Orange Tree, for beer/ale etc & the Rose & Crown for food ! ( sadly....you can walk between them all ! What a terrible way to spend a day..... week ...... 🤣🤣🤣)

What a lovely traditional pub, great service & a lovely atmosphere 10/10 .

Great local, with local craft beer. Brilliant social area out back, and car park situated very close by. Restaurants in the immediate area and beautiful park and duck pond close by too.

The barrels is one of the best pubs in Hereford for its atmosphere and outside space especially. Also i can take my dog there! Winning!

Been here a few times when visiting Hereford. Good beers and nice atmosphere. Courtyard outside is great 👍 Was buzzing with activity during the Summer months last year.

The very definition of what a pub should be. Welcoming, great drinks, great staff, a pool room and a really lovely outdoor area. Lots of local drinks and a brilliant vibe in the day and evening. Its a local institution!!!

The Barrels is your typical "old man's pub" but the beer was very good. It's like a tardis with rooms to the left and right and outside space.

Pool table, great outdoor space, big venue, well priced pints!

Great pub. Hasn't been messed up by trendy makeovers. Busy with a range of rooms/ nooks to settle in to. Doesn't serve food but the beer is good.

If Nirvana was a pub, along with being seminal Seattle grungers and some Buddhist stuff, it would be the Barrels. At least 35 years of personal awesome there. HPA recommended. And new Nightjar. Anything Dorothy Goodbody's. Damn fine pub. Just wish the jukebox was still there.
