The loveliest staff I've ever experienced. Situated on a lovely country road this is what I would consider a quintessential English pub. The food was better than great and I can only say that the staff went above and beyond. Highly recommend this pub if you are in Herefordshire. Miss it and you miss out !!

Lively atmosphere on Thursday evening, food was delicious. Friends loved their duck main course, I had the homemade Kiev ... highly recommend.

Just the best country pub. Awesome locals who enjoy visitors. The best burgers in the West.

Very friendly. Went at a quiet time frequented by locals. They were excellent at adapting almost anything to my gluten free requirements. I will use again next time I am in the area.

They do a grand Sunday lunch here, not much choice but good old fashioned British cooking. And good service. £16.95 for a roast dinner.

As always, a stunning lunchtime treat. The ales are always good and that's an important factor to add to a lovely lunch. Keep up the great work you guys...

Good selection of beer, lagers, and ciders. The menu is balanced and the food is good. I found Dom to be welcoming and helpful. That can't be said for all the staff. It must have been a shock to the management that people might want to watch the Euro's in a pub.

Lovely home cooked food and great portions. Excellent service as I always appreciate when staff check and ask how is the food. It was a midweek lunch time so probably not as much atmosphere as a busier evening could be .But will definitely return

Great pub, opposite village green. Food always good, service with a smile and a chat. Reccomend the Sunday lunch and love the lunch time food for other days - visit the local church opposite when u go, very interesting.

This was a lovely surprise find. The Angel is situated in a beautiful village. The food, drink and service were excellent. We sat outside and the view outside was so peaceful. We'll definitely return now that we have discovered it.

Wonderful friendly pub! Went here for Sunday dinner with family and friends. Service was very friendly and we were kept updated on when our meal would arrive. The vegetable tart that went with the roast was a very nice vegetarian option and flavourful. Vegetable sides were also very tasty. Others on the table really enjoyed the pork option as well. Portion sizes were excellent, flavourful and good value for money and the pudding selection was excellent. The cheesecake was very rich and indulgent. Will definitely be back again!

Four of us came for Sunday dinner for my brother's birthday, starters one had the deep fried brie, a good portion, she loved it, three of us had prawn and charitzo with a side of crusty warm bread, the prawns were large and beautifully cooked in charitzo oil, I wish I had known they were served in the shell as misunderstood from the description, but were very tasty 😋. The roast was a choice of beef and pork with boiled and roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding with beef and stuffing with pork, veg, coliflower cheese, red cabbage and carrots, plenty to go around and happily provided more gravy, one was vegetarian, who just wanted veg and got stuffing and Yorkshire pudding too, they did have Mediterranean tart as an option. We all will happily be here again. Very friendly and helpful staff, even under the stress of being short of staff and having a new baby ☺️.

Relaxed and enjoyable. Butty Bach was in excellent condition. Very good selection of gins. The candles added ambience. Sadly we were too late to eat but the food looked and smelt delicious.

Before having Sunday lunch it would have been 5 stars. Have now visited here 3 times, first and second time really enjoyed, but third time for Sunday lunch was disappointing - a meal of 2 halves. The meat, Yorkshire pud, potatoes and gravy were lukewarm at best and served on cold plates. The veg was brought out separately hot and steaming. Door regularly left open so you could smell people smoking which made our last visit particularly unpleasant. Lovely place to visit for a drink though.

Lovely village pub , homely with a roaring fire and helpful, friendly amd accommodating staff. Nothing too much trouble. Steak cooked perfectly. Will definitely return when visiting again.

Lovely pub and location. Quiet on this Saturday visit, yet speed of food service was slow which was a surprise. Whitebait was very good! Staff friendly, good good but the wait for the food spoiled a meal. Nevertheless, I would go back again....

Great fish and chips. Sounds like an easy meal to get right . It's not. This one was excellent. Fish chunky, batter crisp but not greasy. Nice little salad to go with it. Service was quick and attentive. We will be back and can recommend the Angel. Lynden & David

Very nice pub, good selection of drinks excellent pint of Butty Bach. Cannot comment on food, a bag of crisps does not really count.

Stopped here for pre camping beer. The staff were brilliant. Will definitely go there again and hopefully try the food too next time.

Really enjoyed the meal out. Good food, service was good, friendly and welcoming, calamari starters were particularly good, fish and tartare sauce excellent. Thanks for an enjoyable early evening event !!

4 of us really liked this pub, it is superb. The pub building is very old and oak timbered. All the furniture and fittings are very suitable and comfortable. The food is very good indeed, of good size and very pleasantly served. Drinks choice was good with Buty Bach and Robinson's Flagon available. There is a huge car park to the right-hand side of the pub. The pub is set in a lovely little village with green spaces which add to the ambience. A must visit pub, stay a few hours! Update 11th Sept 2023: We visited for a meal again this evening. We had a very pleasant young lady serving us who did very well, a good start. We did not want a starter so just went straight to the main course. Every one of us was very pleased with our main course all of which were different. Of note although this was a Monday evening meal, it was still quite busy restaurant which shows how popular a place it is. So to recap, another good evening was had with everything being very good.

Had a meal here this evening. Staff were more than helpful in sorting us some great vegetarian dishes that weren't even on the menu. Thank you ❤️

I liked it. Perhaps not my favorite lunch ever, but decent food and a good atmosphere

Freshly prepared chicken kiev, succullent gammon and a melt-in-the-mouth fillet steak, all cooked perfectly. The sweets were fab too. Staff were efficient, friendly and attentive and the atmosphere pleasant and relaxed. Couldn't fault this place and will definitely be returning when in the area. Miss the Angel and you'll be missing a treat.

A quite remarkable village pub. Clearly very popular with locals, it is an equally welcoming place for those from further afield. Good menu, with all the usual pub food dishes, plus a decent selection of less obvious items. I had a sirloin steak, and it was probably one of the best I've ever had - and I have had streaks all over the world! Truly outstanding. Really helpful staff, just the right level of service. We'll definitely be back!

Only had scampi & chips at lunch, so hard to tell what the food is really like . Tartar sauce was homemade, & nice though. Seemed busy & in a nice village.

Lovely pub with great well priced food.

Staying in airbnb locally ,passed in the morning and booked lunch. The lady who served us was very pleasant . We both enjoyed the homemade chicken Kiev. If you're in the area it's a must. I would say one of the better pubs.

Had food at The Angel for the second time - it's still great ! Recommended !

Ordered the creamy garlic mushrooms. Some of the mushrooms were nearly raw, there was so much garlic that I could still taste it 3 hours later. This meant I couldn't eat most of it and there was balsamic vinegar on the bottom of the bowl so sometimes it was like eating sugar. The music was very intrusive but the staff seemed pleasant. I won't be going again.

Nice selection of local ales and a varied menu. Burger and chips was excellent.

A great welcome, followed by a delicious lunch. A warm, welcoming pub with a friendly team, who were kind enough to share a potted history of this historic and characterful building, too! Highly recommended!

My partner and I have visited The Angel on three occasions now and I gotta say we have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. The Sunday Lunches we’ve had have been so lovely.Vegetables are so fresh and food is plentiful.The Red Pepper Soup we had yesterday was nothing short of outstanding!!Service is spot on also. I must say a special mention to Lucy the Manager-she makes you feel so welcome and can’t do enough for you,nothing is too much trouble! I’m very sure I will be returning again in the next few weeks as I really really like this place!! Keep up the good work and I’ll see you soon!!

Great little gem of a pub popped in for a swift half stayed for a few. Great selection of current beers and spirits great friendly atmosphere. Biased as they serve Doom Bar👍😊🍺

Lovely pub, but some of the food was disappointing, i.e. veggies which came with the (excellent) pies - potatoes and broccoli were cold and the broccoli was raw. A staff member said that the broccoli was cooked 'al dente' (how we would expect it to be cooked!!) - but it was definitely raw as it was almost impossible to cut it with a knife. Also, the lasagna had been heated for too long, and was so dried out that the pasta had stuck to the bottom of the dish. When we mentioned this, the response was more one of irritation for saying anything rather than apologetic for the problems with the food. Such a pity, as this was our first meal out with friends for more than two years due to Covid/health issues, and we had been looking forward to it for a long time.

Stopped in for a cracking Sunday roast. Made very welcome and accommodating of my young dog too. Good food and very friendly and accommodating staff. Recommended.

We had a meal and drink at this lively local village pub. As visitors we found the experience a bit crowded and noisey, but generally the food and service was reasonable, as was the price paid. It was great to see they catered for diverse users and everyone was enjoying their evening.

Great pub, cosy and warm inside with nice atmosphere, good welcome, run by nice people. Nice range of beers available, delicious food. Out door seating and green opposite, so great for summer drinks too

Our foood was hot and well prepared, at a reasonable price. However, the pub was cold and the service slow. The Ladies was apparently fine, but there was something wrong with the ventilation in the Gents, which made it almost unusable. To sum up: good in parts.

Just had lunch here but not the first time we’ve been! Lovely food, log fires (love) good kids menu…what else could you ask for!! Oh yeah…great Ales on tap and staff who know how to pour a decent pint! 10/10 by my records!!

First time visit for me, went with a couple of friends. Good Wye Valley beers and very tasty lunchtime food. Very pleasant staff both behind bar and at table. Definitely be visiting again.

Grabbed a few days away in this most beautiful part of Wales ,and came across The Angel and had a very good lunch plus a pint of BUTTY BACH beer wonderful .Well worth a visit .

One star and that’s generous packet or food from a tube and didn’t get that right. Never again

Ate outside in garden. Beautiful gammon. Waiting staff young, attentive ( but not too much so), friendly and helpful.

Wonderful meal at The Angel, I chose Mediterranean Tart with new potatoes and salad. Couldn't fault it, so very tasty with crisp herby pastry. Husband's fish and chips also very good. Polite, welcoming staff and a nice quiet atmosphere with several busy tables of customers. Recommended. Ate half the meal before remembering to take photos!

It’s such a lovely pub, and much loved by locals, but we found food (at least on our visit) quite below par. We ordered nachos as a starter. It had been undercooked - half of the cheese did not melt, onion and peppers were hard and bitter, and there were neither jalapeños nor alternative substitutes (that one always has in loaded nachos) But the biggest disappointment was a vegetarian burger. I ordered it as a “healthier” option as I was promised a veggie-mix patty. In reality it was a deep fried combination of flour, butter and ridiculously small amount of corn and peas. I had to throw it away and just had a bun with chutney on its own. The worst dinner I have ever had in countryside English pub. I am going to bed with a bad stomach ache. My husband had a regular burger which he described as “just okay, nothing special, but greasier than usual”. In a nutshell, be very careful with what you order and stick to safe options like steaks / grills etc. and specify that you prefer your food “not greasy”

Great food and service in garden under covid rules

Fairly typical pub mains but more adventurous starters and desserts on the specials menu. Well cooked, very hot and good quality. You're unlikely to leave hungry! Service was friendly and welcoming, prices were sensible. All covid restrictions are being adhered to. Good pub well worth a visit.
