Enjoyable meal as part of Murder Mystery event. Not the best meal I've ever had but great value. Breakfast was substantial and excellent

Slightly strange place. Restaurant still making chilli con carne, and will take an hour, so we had vegetarian lasagna, which was ok. Service basic. Toilets down a long corridor but clean

Incorrect allergen listing on menu (no dairy in cheese salad, hhmmm?!) and staff not very helpful when you try and discuss specific ingredients. Head waitress / manageress was simply the rudest person I have ever witnessed in hospitality - she shouted across the table when we didn't give our order quickly enough and sighed LOUDLY several times. Of the 3 courses, starter was godawful, main was average, dessert was godawful - oh and the glasses and table itself were filthy. McD's would have been better value for money.

Paid for a 3 course meal as part of our booking, but the food that was served to us was inedible. Breakfast was OK.

I have seen better service in residential homes, bread is served in an ice bucket, drinks are given unopen, and left you to serve yourself, food looks stail.

Lousy service and poor quality of food, had to pre order but still had to wait 25 minutes for starters

The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean but tired. Breakfast is just about passable but don’t bother eating in the restaurant for dinner. The menu is something out of the seventies and the food is bland. We had dinner / Lunch included but only used the restaurant once. We ate elsewhere after the first night. If you can get a deal then bed a breakfast would be ok if you want to visit this area. But don’t eat in the restaurant or bar it’s mass catering and you have to pre order your food earlier in the day nothing is freshly cooked to order. You would be better off walk-in app the road to the Thorpe’s pub - good freshly cooked food - but book in advance as it get very busy.

Dined as part of a hotel deal on the first night and so good that we chose to pay for the three course meal on the second night.

The room needs an update, service was hidden but the worst factor was that the food had been cooked earlier & placed under lamps to try to keep it warm.

We had booked for a festive lunch for the family who all live miles apart so this was central for us. Although the restaurant was quiet, the staff worked hard to make sure it was a nice atmosphere for us and found the right balance between giving us space and making sure we had everything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who genuinely seemed to want to ensure we had a good time. In particular, one of our group is disabled and staff went out of their way to make sure they were comfortable even changing the furniture around to help. Really appreciated this as not all places are so willing to be adaptable. The food itself was chosen in advance from the festive menu and was excellent. It was served piping hot which is always a bonus and all of it was high quality. Even the coffee and chocolates were special. Genuinely felt like everyone went out of their way to make our day special and at just £14.95 each the value was ridiculously good. Thank you and have a fabulous Christmas.

Needs a better menu but reasonably priced at £19.95 for three courses. Very basic food with not much flavour a little boring but hotel is ok

There was enough on offer to cater for everyone's needs for breakfast which was the only meal that we ate during our stay in the hotel.

We ate in the hotel on both nights of our stay and the food was really good. The breakfast is also amazing. The staff are so helpful and friendly.

We thought the food was great. Good choice of 3 courses and a pretty standard wine list. We had the dining room to ourselves as there was a Murder mystery thing going on so we enjoyed the very personal service. A bonus as it was my husband's birthday. The breakfast was very nice. Good choice of cooked, Cereals, pastries, toast and fruits and yogurts.

Was Surprised by the Quality of the Food as it was so reasonably priced - Quality produce well presented and the staff were very friendly and efficient at their job which made the meal more enjoyable - Compliments to the Chefs and the Hotel owners for supplying Quality at a good price - rare when there is little alternative in the area! Breakfast was included in our overnight stay and was a buffet which we enjoyed being able to choose the items we wanted - the Sausages are excellent - so much flavour :-) !

After being traumatised by a visit to a Harvester the nice food in my restaurant put my faith back in eating out again. Very nice food and staff

Have eaten here on 6 occasions when staying at the hotel and can honestly say all meals were very good

I used a two night getaway experience package voucher for a two night stay with my boyfriend.The staff were friendly and approachable.The pub/bar was okay but they only did basic drinks, no cocktails, and the menu of drinks was on a A4 bit of paper stuck to the wall. The starters were very small, but tasty.I ordered Brie wedges in cranberry Compote, there were only 3 little cubes of cheese, there was more cranberry than cheese!The bar food waiting staff could be trained better as the waitress barely kept all the soup on the plate when our starter was delivered. There was two vegetarian starter options and one vegetarian main option, which change in the restaurant each day.The bar food is the same menu regardless of say (but serves different items to what are served in the restaurant).The room service is ridiculously over priced, with a £5.95 charge for breakfast to be delivered to your room, on top of the charge for breakfast itself (I think it was around £10 just for the breakfast for one person?).The breakfast was nice, and they had Linda McCartney’s veggie sausages which they cooked upon request. The hash browns were a little over cooked and the mushrooms were thick with oil, but tasted nice!Would of liked a choice of egg, but there was only fried. The coffee was just filter coffee in a metal dispenser, no coffee machine, and it tasted horrible.The pastries were not great for nut allergy suffers and I wanted a croissant, but as it was placed on the same tray and touching, what I believe was an almond pastry, I couldn’t eat this.

Not a very good weekend was had by all.Very,very poor in all aspects.In the middle of nowhere,with nothing nearby to walk to either.

Very good food with good choice both in the restaurant and in the bar. Very reasonably priced and excellent service from the friendly staff

Disgusting all food sent back, they couldn't cook a slice of toast! Staff are totally incompetent including the management!

The food was good staff really friendly polite and helpful was lovely and clean Have certainly told my friends and family

We ate there last as part of the room deal at the hotel.

Had dinner here. Service was slapdash with each staff member assuming that someone else had offered bread rolls, drinks menu etc. Food was slow in coming to table and was carried uncovered across a public passage from kitchen, vegetables arrived 7 mins after meal were cold and with a hair across dish. Pudding was inedible defrosted badly and soggy, sent it back. Staff were mostly very nice but lacked training Uniforms were untidy. The restaurant has seen better days and needs a coat of paint. Had breakfast next day food was poor, 2 members of staff with hair long hair hanging loose very unhygienic. Tomatoes cold, bacon hard, fried egg solid and fatty.

Had a three course evening meal with our stay, absolutely hit the spot. Also had breakfast here, by the way, it was more varied than some five star hotels we've been to.

popped in for a cup of leaf tea & cake. Tasty carrot cake, delicious fruity scones & warmed fruit loaf in a lovely old building whilst the piano tinkled.

Great time at the murder mystery all 14 of us great food great breakfast a big thank you to the chef Lukasz and all the staff making our stay very enjoyable room lovely and clean will be back very soon

La comida es decente y no demasiado caro para lo que es, pero debe haber mejores lugares alrededor. El personal es agradable, pero tienes que limpian la uniforme. El restaurante está un poco anticuado, pero está limpio, gente que generalmente sólo comer aquí se alojen en el hotel.

Tuvimos esta experiencia culinaria como un regalo, y aunque marcado como 'romántico bien comedor para dos, sin duda no fue como se ha descrito. El único punto positivo de la cena era la botella de vino que lo acompaña. Una pena, ya que era para celebrar nuestro aniversario de boda.
