Fish tasted awful and not fresh. It's batter was thick and tasted of flour and the batter seemed undercooked. Previous time we visited we found a label on the fish beneath the batter / it has been battered and cooked with a label on. It used to be good but now the food is bad.

Absolutely spot on we had the fish supper and it was mmmmmm. Fish was huge ,staff super friendly looked like a great team working there like a conveyor belt quick service and wrapped in brown paper no bags in site wish we had gone again can understand the queues out side and it's open till after ten many thanks for great food

Very poor fish, far too crispy and cold. Complaint made by phone, but manager not interested, saying he had sold over 100 fish this evening, and nobody ever complains about their fish. The family has been going here since the business opened, but unlikely to be back.

This was previously our favourite for fish & chips, not anymore. Fish batter was greasy, fish was dry, chips were like underdone frozen ones.

An absolute waste of money....wrong order and freezing cold....this is second time this has happened...used to be a great chippy but now went badly down hill ...won't be ordering again!!

Decent portions. Tasty. Hamburger supper. Roll n chips. Could not complain. All warm and fresh. Would use again

This is seemingly a large chips and a portion of curry sauce?? Very questionable even the lass at the counter questioned it but done nothing about it this cost £7.50 I definitely will not be using this chippy again

Ordered a Chicken Kebab, Donner & chicken kebab and a portion of chips, Order came and we received a Donner Kebab and a Donner & Chicken Kebab and the chips were half cooked and covered in chip shop sauce despite us asking for salt and vinegar, No problem I hear you say well yes if you like sort of thing but my partner only eats chicken and vegetables and we don’t like chip shop sauce, half the order is now in the bin, What a waste and all because the shop was busy and they couldn’t keep up and flapping like a fish out of water, food is always usually top drawer aswell

Really poor food and really bad customer service. Probably worse chips that I ever had. Poor customer service! Avoid - please avoid

Just had possibly the worst takeaway I’ve ever had. Ordered a mixed kebab, it was freshly cooked whilst I was waiting so I thought it would be good. The chicken and lamb were dry as a bone and the doner meat was dripping with grease... The two pitta breads were rock hard, the whole thing was totally inedible. I couldn’t even give it to my dogs. I live in West Lothian so wasn’t taking it back but at £14, I could have had a nice meal in a restaurant for that price. I won’t be returning.

The worsts meal I’ve had from the BBQ the chicken pakora has always been good! Tonight I got chicken pakora that were burnt and one had green mould in it the chicken was grey ! When I called the guy didn’t believe me and wasn’t interested, he told me to keep them and he’d send a replacement? Why would you not want to see the pakora in question very uninterested and flippant , replacement sent and the guy delivering says it’s mint ! I have the pictures and completely disgusting and not mint am not stupid! This completely put me off my meal £16:60 for nothing no apology no refund terrible customer service, one of the best chip shops in Edinburgh has just gone down in my estimations !

A regular at this chip shop and each time we go we give them the benefit of the doubt after only asking for a small amount of sauce, food is dripping in sauce I’d love to know what they think a regular amount is. Adds to the amount already soggy food. Change of chippy needed.

When the food is good it’s excellent, but when it’s bad, it’s really bad!!! We ordered a burger with no salad (it arrived with salad). I ordered a plain roll, it arrived with a battered burger in it. I ordered no salad on the kebab and it arrived with salad. The fritters were burnt, soggy and bitter. It feels like they need to change the oil more often. Hugely disappointing this time.

Visited just over a week ago, ordered a pizza and had severe food poisoning and was violently sick within minutes and am just out of hospital, I lost 2 stone due to the whole ordeal. Will be taking the issue further with trading standards and a solicitor.

Had heard this was a good chipper, picked up 2 x fish suppers @£7.50 each, I truly wish I hadn’t bothered, the fish was awful, dry and soggy. And the chips were cold and inedible. Definitely won’t return.

Ordered for 18:40 and it arrived one hour early so were caught by surprise. Better early than late I suppose. Everything was COLD had to re-heat whole order in microwave. Certainly would not pass health & safety food standards if served in a restaurant. Chips were disgusting. Used this take away a lot several years ago. Will not be back!

Well, let's start with the good thing. Delivery was superfast, so well done on that at least! Of course perhaps that's because no one else orders as they already know how bad the food is. I ordered a hamburger supper. It was vile. The hamburger was soggy and not cooked properly, and the chips were cold. The chip rolls my husband had were dry and stale and the chips also cold. Most of the food went in the food recycling bin! I used this establishment as the one I usually use was closed. In future, I would rather do without than use this place again. Goodness knows how it gets such a good name??

Best fish ever great staff got it well sorted been going there for years and years to come can never drive past without going in

For years there has always been a queue as I passed this chip shop on one of the major roads on the outskirts of the capital. I decided to try it and was not disappointed. Decent portions, superb chips and loads of options to go with the chips. Mince pie was my choice and I was very impressed. They also make their own pizzas which looked very tasty.

Nos detuvimos en el camino a casa desde fuera de la ciudad y como era justo después de la hora de apertura, pensamos que todo estaría recién preparado. Había mucha comida en las bandejas calientes. Vacilé, pero elegí el pescado y cuando llegué a casa me di cuenta de que había sido recalentado. No muy apetecible. Por el precio que pagamos me esperaba mucho mejor. No se apresurará a volver por desgracia.

We have used this chippy regularly for years. Never had any reason to be other than entirely satisfied. Highly recommended.

La segunda vez que olvidaron la sal y la salsa en las cenas / papas fritas, la carne de kebab donner era horrible, pequeños trozos secos de hueso, el pan pitta estaba duro. Sin salsa en la carne y papas Donner a pesar de agregarlas en el cuadro de solicitudes especiales. Las pizzas estaban grasientas con queso como el caucho. Total desperdicio de dinero y trato familiar arruinado.

Best chippy this side of town, love the pizza suppers and great choice of dinners available. Good portions too.

Food is great, good portions, pizzas are amazing and kebabs are to die for💕home delivery quick and friendly.

We quite often visit when passing but this is our no. 1 choice for our delivery order. I love their sausage suppers, but would also recommend the haggis. My husband and daughter like their fish and my husband also loves their kebabs.

Really fancied a fish supper for lunch yesterday. Was so so disappointed with what I got. Fish was really dry and obviously from the night before, will make sure not to go in at lunchtime in future .

Half cooked hard chips - fish supper but no actual fish inside soggy batter - this place is a distance - tiny portions and now I feel like I have licked a year old block of lard - please do not spend your hard earned cash in this absolute disgusting horrid place!

The Barbeque use to be in my opinion one of the best places for Fish and Chips in Edinburgh. However after my last couple of visits I would now just put it as average and not outstanding as it use to be.

Patatas fritas deliciosas, la combinación de suaves y crujientes. También hay problemas para llegar ketchup o salsa todos parte del servicio amable y eficiente. Una gran opción si usted está conduciendo al oeste del centro de la ciudad de Edimburgo o después de una visita al Zoo.

La comida es fabulosa, servicio de entrega rápido. Pizzas y kebabs son encantadoras, buenas porciones. Todo fresco y de excelente calidad.

Used to use this chippy when we lived in Corstorphine and anytime we come back for a visit to Edinburgh a pilgrimage is made here for their mince pie suppers - simply the best north of East Anglia! Friendly efficient staff great food good meal deal offers fantastic pies and puddings, do not pass by, stop go in and enjoy.

Our family all love The Barbecue, the men go for their special pizzas and the women the special fish (coated in breadcrumbs) Staff are always pleasant and their delivery service is first class. They have a large take away menu , something to suit everyone.

This is one of the best chippys I have been to. Good choice of traditional chippy, plus kebab and pizza. Service is extremely quick and efficient. A regular place to go when in the area

I have been using the Bar-B-Que in Corstorphine for a good number of years, to the point where when I moved away to Fife I still made the effort to make the trip as the home made Pizza's here were the best I've had anywhere. Last night was extremely disappointing however as My wife and I bought a King rib supper and a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Clearly there has been a change of ownership here as the quality of the food last night was in my opinion, and based on what we've been served in the past, awful!. The chips had clearly been cooked in oil that had not been changed in a good while as they were all soggy, greasy and limp which again in the past would have been unheard of. The pizza dough, tomato base and toppings were of the same standard and quality as the past, but they now seem to be using a different inferior cheese, which is like no cheese on a pizza I've tasted before. Firstly there wasn't the usual amount of cheese on the pizza, with big patched of the tomato base still showing through. Secondly the cheese itself wasn't the usual plentiful stringy mozzarella of the past, it's been changed for a very sub standard cheap cheese that was more akin to what you would get on a cheap frozen pizza. All in all a very disappointing experience. I only usually give good reviews where I get excellent food and service, whilst choosing to not leave negative feedback for a business, but rather vote with my feet. However after a long history of buying food from here I thought that the owners need to understand why I have chosen not to return. I would have gone back to the shop to discuss in person, but as in other reviews the staff aren't that welcoming and don't seem that approachable, Issues that we've over looked in the past as the food was of a standard that these small issues didn't matter.

Went in at 4.30 Saturday. No fish ready then rushed. Too much batter which was hard. chips were undercooked and although asked for salt and sauce none when opened at home.Overall really disappointed and usually go to Longstone so will always go there in the future as it does not disappoint.Used to be good with queues out the door. Now I know why no queues so will not be back. Give it a miss.

Great fish, could do with a bit less batter, and the chips were just right, not greasy at all. We have been going to The Barbecue for years and after some staff turnover it seems the original owner is back and so is the quality.

Amongst the best fish and chips in Edinburgh. You don't have long queues on a Friday teatime for nothing. Been going here for many years and no complaints.Staff are efficient.

Best Fish and Chips quick and efficient service busy shop well liked by locals and visitors alike. Great menu plenty of choice.

Poor. 4 meals bought last night one of which was a sausage supper. Unfortunately my wife was up all night vomitting. Even without that incident we started using this shop 3 months ago (on the back of recommendation) and have not been overly impressed. Maybe 8pm on a Sunday night is not the best time to visit as most of the food appears to have been sitting for a long time.

I have been to this chippy a number of times as I live in the area. I have no complaints about the food I have always found what is on offer really good and not too expensive, my problem is the staff. The staff don't smile they look uphappy and I get the impression they look down there noses at some customers, not the kind of service I appreciate but one of the reasons I return is the food. If I had a preference I would go to another local chippy purely because I don't like the staff atmosphere. Things need to improve on the staffing level if this is to get more customers.

My friend, who is originally from Scotland, brought me here after raving about this place for years! He hadn't been back here in 10 years and could not wait to return. It exceeded our lofty expectations. After telling the staff his story, they all took pictures with him and allowed me to take photos around the shop. My friend and I ordered fish, chicken, burger and chips with curry sauce. In addition, he bought 2 bottles of their amazing brown sauce to bring back to the States. What a fun experience and a delicious meal.

Years ago my husband used to regularly stop off at this take away on his way home from work. We were visiting Edinburgh and he decided he wanted a black pudding supper (typical Scot!!) so I went in and ordered to take away a Haggis supper and a black pudding supper. We decided we would eat it in the car. I am glad we never drove away because I have to say that I have never tasted rubbish like we got here! The haggis was so peppery it was inedible. The chips were so dry they wer just horrible. my husbands black pudding was, in his words, "not nice". I went in and complained about this and was verbally abused for being English by an elderly lady working in there. I was also verbally abused by a younger man who possibly owned the place and the assistants were rude. The elderly lady gave me the money back for part of the meal and when I insisted she gave me back the rest of the money she became abusive again. It was dreadful. By the time I got back to the car I was shaking.

Always been a favorite spot for fish and chips in Edinburgh. Spent 11 days in Edinburgh and had to make two visits to this chippy! Friendly staff and great food make this worth the trip.
