Worst experience, not enough staff 1 guy behind the bar and 1 on tables. Had to wait for 25 minutes for a pint. Shite DJ and food is average. Must say the guy behind the bar Dean was very patient and professional although customers were arguing shouting. Deserves a medal for that bravery 🏅 😂

Complete tourist trap. Without doubt the worst service I've ever received in a restaurant, ever, anywhere in the world. The staff are completely clueless. Food was also poor and tasteless when it eventually arrived. Stay well clear.

Went in for dinner tonight. Was served by Zeina - food was amazing and so was her service!

Food was delicious however it got really busy all of a sudden and the poor chap behind the bar upstairs got backed up to the point that we waited for 45mins for drinks. We gave up in the end and then I went up to cancel the order and get the bill which took a further 20mins to get processed which wasn't ideal. However, I'd still recommend a visit as we all really enjoyed our food and had a great time up until the point things got too busy for the staff.

Donald and sirena were fab at the bar! Defo recommend coming to see them! They recommend the best drinks and shots!

Expensive and low standards food.... Service was good specially DEAN, we changed our order a couple of times still he had a smiley face and very kind attitude. 2 welcoming Guards on both doors. Highly recommended

We booked a table for new years and waited 20 mins before anyone came to take our drinks order. They only came to take our order because I asked them to, and when I did all three waitresses tried to ignore me at first before acting annoyed when I politely asked them to come to the table. The drinks took 15 mins to arrive because they only had one person making drinks for the entire upstairs. Again nobody came to take our glasses or next drinks orders. When the staff came to the table they were a lot more polite but we were there for 2 hr and only manage to get two drinks after resorting to queuing for 15 mins at the bar. All things and the drinks are pretty expensive for what they are.

Lovely open space. Great food. Excellent choice of beers. Service could be better but only 2 staff on.

I was told about this place by one of the locals as we wanted to grab food and a drink quite late on a Sunday night; very chilled out bar where a lot of the night workers from across Edinburgh go to after their shifts end. Only minor downside was the food was a wee bit pricey however the choice of drinks was good.

Very poorly served, despite an almost empty establishment. The music (recorded) was good but that's the only positive point. No opinion on the cuisine because we were unable to order, the waiter never came back. Maybe he didn't dare after spilling a lot of Redbull on my wife's phone, without apologizing, cleaning up, or even just providing us with napkins. The said Redbull was supposed to be accompanied by vodka, which we did not smell. What we did notice was the bill, almost 10 pounds for half a Redbull in a glass that was too small and a trace of vodka (not even sure). Would not recommend.

A dead bar, a waiter who never came to order meals, who spilled our glass (too small) on the phone without apologizing and without cleaning up and a vodka (?) redbull was close to 10 £. So deplorable service and a hefty bill, we do not recommend this place. FYI it was a Sunday evening just before Christmas, clearly no crowd in this bar/restaurant.

Huge pub with small private venue upstairs. Received lots of attention and great service. Basic menu but the food was good. Delegates enjoyed the selection of beers on tap. Definitely worth a visit. Thank you to Mason and the team.

Very good sandwich, hamburger with exceptional meat, they had cooked it wrong for me and so they made it again... and since they made me wait an hour, due to the mix-up they practically offered it to me. Very kind. Plus, which is very useful, they are open until very late, when all the other pubs only serve drinks.

Good burgers and many beers to try. Good place to go for lunch or dinner with friends or students. Reduced prices for them. Good burger with many varieties. tap and draft beer and bottles

Young atmosphere, it seems that it is a place designed for students above all. The food was good, nothing to write home about. The service was very friendly and fast. Luckily we went at a time when there were very few people so the atmosphere was pretty good, but I don't even want to imagine it on a Friday night 😅

Beautiful pub on two floors, with nice decor. It has the right light, which creates atmosphere. Open until late, with the kitchen following the opening hours, which is not at all a given in Scotland. Good burgers and beers too. Good service, with ordering at the table.

Dinner with the group at this place. Don’t get the nachos if you are used to getting them in the United States. Chips are a pass. I had the cheese and jalapeño on a flat bread that was very good. Even came with a small salad and fries with a chipotle sauce. I would order this again for sure.

The food was GREAT! When we went there was a lovely worker who spoke Spanish, so she made our stay a lot easier. We also had some very good cocktails, the truth is that they do everything well!

We visited here for a drink during the Fringe. Very nice bar inside, and service was nice and friendly. Great selection of beers, and prices what you would expect for the area. Food also looked good. Would recommend for some nice beers in nice surroundings.

I am the concierge of a 5 star hotel in Edinburgh and I send my guests to dinner at the OX184 restaurant I was told during breakfast that the restaurant is very nice, the food is not bad, but it took more than an hour to serve the drinks and food. I understand that during the festival we are very busy, but that seems like too long to wait. They had to eat poorly and quickly because they had a show that they arrived late for and that ruined their night. Unfortunately, I will not recommend this place again.

The food was great and my friends and I were really appreciative having their kitchen opener later than most. But the service was atrocious. 10+ minutes to get a quick draft pint. No one took our food order despite sitting at an empty table for 15 minutes, and different bartenders gave us different answers on how to order food.

Food was fine. Service was none existent. Was seated upstairs. Plenty staff behind the bar, but no one serving. Plenty empty tables.

We went here as a family party of 14 people. On account of the number of people, we had made our booking a week ahead. We had stressed the need for accessible seating as we had gran in a wheelchair. Imagine our surprise when a place was set upstairs. I don’t know who flubbed our reservation. They made up seating for us downstairs which worked well for the teenagers as they got their own table separate from the parents. The music selection was superb and at a good volume. The food was exquisite; the cocktails were great; the service was excellent. I think because we were 14, the 3 steak orders got messed up. They all asked for medium well, but we were only served 1 medium well, and 2 well done. We had lamb, steak, mac n cheese, sweet potato chips, fries, salad, haggis balls, nachos…and that was only at the adults’ table.

OX184 is a great find! We happened up on it one day and went back the next for dinner and drinks! Pub food and drink with a modern vibe. Very large seating capacity, friendly service, great food.

Food is very basic. Stuff is not very welcoming. Far better places around

Fries were great, mac and cheese was fantastic. However the burger was very poor (especially considering the gaff specialises in burgers). It was dry and the burger patty was far far too chargriled where all it had was that dry chargrilled smokey taste. But not at all in a pleasant way. Me and my partner both thought the exact same thing and we were very disappointed with it. But all of the other food as I say was very nice.

Great spot for drinks and late night food. We booked here for our post-wedding drinks with about a 20-person party. The place is very spacious with benches. Was great to be able to order food until late (2 am) and a great selection of Scottish beers washed it down. Appreciate the plant based burger option! Only complaint is the toilets, which were a fair walk away upstairs on the opposite end of the place!

Lots of places were booked up with reservations. Hostess at a full restaurant suggested trying OX184. It fit the bill. Great tap selection, varied casual menu. Everyone in the party was able to what they wanted. Service was attentive.

From the most beautiful places to have fun and enjoy a nice atmosphere with excellent bartenders and waitress staff.

Small menu of cocktails but you can go to the bar and ask for a specific cocktail. My husband wanted a white russian and the bartender was happy to mix it for him. We only ordered some fries and they were ok.

The chicken thigh sandwich was amazing! The sauce was great, and the thighs were cooked perfectly! We also had the lamb kabob, it was called something else, but it was very tasty as well.

Great late night bar. I've been there a couple of times after finishing working an event. Busy, but everyone is chill in their own space at their tables. Definitely want to try late night eats next time.

Rich! Very! The spacious, modern atmosphere. It is one of the few places where you can dine after 10 p.m.

Unfortunately, I was throwing up your meal in the morning with shivers and fever. Apart from that I had one drink, felt good entire day/week. I was the only person eating that night and the only person getting sick next say. Everyone else in there group has been and is still fine 🤮

went for a couple anniversary drinks with my partner and was meant to be only a stop by but ended up spending almost 2 hours there although the drinks and atmosphere were amazing what made us stick around was the great customer service we spoke to matt and he made the night so enjoyable sharing with us his favourites and other cocktails we might like he was kind and friendly and made it certain that i will return and soon!!

Only popped in for a drink before a gig at La. Belle Angel. Nice bar, lots of space. Lots of beers on tap and we were served efficiency.

Nice place to eat something and have a drink. Large open space. The food may only be good because the hamburgers were dry as chips, but I could eat it.

We were looking for some late night food at 9pm and all the pubs were booked up or not serving food. We were told to visit OX184 as they serve food really late. The service was great and so was the food! The vibe is clubby so if you’re looking for something quiet this isn’t it, it is a vibe though and still allows you to have convo. We enjoyed it!

They treated us very well, since dinner time there is quite early and we went a little late. We ate 2 burgers with fries and they were very good. The best the attention.

Staff member was very rude, ruined my experience as up to that point I was really enjoying myself and had a inclusive vibe.

It was the only restaurant in central Edinburgh that served food after 9:00 pm. Whether you’re a night owl, or in need of a midnight snack, OX186 is the place to be. Kudos to waiting staff for an excellent service!

A nice bar and eatery all round, but just feels a bit stale and noisy, with uncomfortable seats.

Service was very slow and the floor staff didn't know the menu. Whiskey sour was awful. Left after one drink.

Order delivery time was pushed back twice. Driver was lost on the wrong street so I had to go find him. Food was stone cold. Very disappointed. Wasted money.

Place located a few steps from Royal Mile, very large and spacious, friendly staff, especially Jaime, good delicacies, and good sandwiches, wide choice of beer and what's more it is one of the few places to serve food until late. The restaurant closes at 3.00 AM

Worst service ever. On a slow Sunday night we got ignored by the waitress for 20 minutes straight. Didn’t even have the chance to order. She was more interested in her own drinks and her smartphone.

Vegetarian options are great, everything is full of flavours, nicely prepared, fries are super crispy just as I like. Been there 2 times in a last month, every time service was perfect, waitress was super nice and polite. It could be bit warmer during the winter. Big windows doing the job, whole place has a nice vibe and cool decor.

Visited with a group of friends for drinks initially but ended up getting food as well. There’s lots to choose from on the menu, and everyone I was with said they thoroughly enjoyed theirs. The drinks service was fast and the friendly staff were always floating around to take drinks orders. Would recommend!

easily the worst restaurant i've ever been to. group booking of 13 people, in restaurant 90minutes at least, 50% of food came out and only 2 of these were actually warm. total disgrace.

Good late night pub food…altho very expensive for the quality itself. Asked for a meyo on the side, only to be served a small tub of something that looked like dense white paint? Ketchup also didn’t taste like anything from a store. Atlest chips did taste like chips.

They actually can have great food, but the "bouncer" at the door can be incredibly rude. No idea why, but if it stays that way I wouldn't come back.

I eat here at least once every time I'm in Edinburgh. The food and mocktails always been great. The staff have always been down to earth and friendly.

The mocktail was delicious, best I had so far. The loaded mac & cheese fries were nice. Haggis bon bons were delicious. My chicken salad was a bit disappointing as the chicken’s batter was all burnt and it didn’t have much flavour.

Didn't really get any photos I do apologise but these shots were gorgeous - Baby Guiness I have had elsewhere but the Rhubarb and Custard were a new thing for me and my partner - we loved them!!

Preguntamos en un pub y nos dijeron que el OX184 tenían la cocina abierta hasta tarde, así que como no estábamos muy lejos nos dirigimos allí. Subimos a la segunda planta y no nos complicamos, pedimos dos cervezas y dos hamburguesas. Las hamburguesas bien, pero tampoco es que fueran de las mejores que hemos probado. La atención por parte de los camareros muy acertada, eran amables y simpáticos. El local muy chulo con buena música. Gracias al OX184 pudimos cenar tarde.., nos salvó la vida.

The food was amazing and presentable, the place has a nice atmosphere overall. However, i did not have a pleasant experience with the service on Saturday night as my food arrived 10-15 minutes after the rest of my group got their meals. I understand that there can be errors on the way and my order was missed out for some reason, but during that time no one checked back with me or gave an update on my food, i had to check with two members of staff to finally get it as the first one never got back to me. The staff were not very apologetic or communicating overall and didn't keep up with the standards of the place in my opinion.

Ox184 is one of those is it a restaurant or a bar.....well its both it has a beautiful food menu not too complicated. they have a large selection of draught beers and a.decent but small selection of bottled/ can beers pineapple stofferhofer German ale is my favourite here a must try 😋 The staff are very helpful and super friendly......

Great staff, delicious burger, best chips in a long time, and pleasantly surprised with a delicious glass of wine. We will return. The atmosphere is simple; we enjoyed it.

Nice gastro bar with plenty of space and plenty of quality beers. Menu is a bit limited but the burger was top notch.

Don't go here, almost got scammed by an employee who invited us to have some drinks upstairs (they had a 'private' booth there, upstairs was completely empty). We left on time, otherwise they would give us the bill of the drinks with way higher prices.

Fairly empty on a Saturday lunchtime so lovely for a few friends to enjoy a cocktail! Service was a bit slow considering the small number of clientele but the drinks were worth the wait!

£30 steak came cold & £15 burger the same. The truffle cheese fries weren’t cold but had no hint of truffle…

Can't comment on atmosphere as we arrived on lunch opening, however, I suspect it'll be great when it's busy. Only wanted a couple of starters, really good quality and value. Good selection of beers and whisky flights.
