Burger was very nice. The frozen chips tasted really bad unfortunately.

Staff were friendly and quick to seat and serve us. The burger was good, although the hand cuts didn't seem cooked enough. Reasonably priced. Overall nice visit

Food tasted crazy amazing, by far the best burger ive ever had. I had the Filly cheesesteak and filly fries. Was dream worthy. My partner had the buttermilk chicken burger. She loved it too! Beer on tap too which is a winner. Sever was Hannah G - she was lovely and polite. Definitely an asset to FatHippo ☺️. Give her a pay rise!

Delicious burger, this place was recommended to me and it was worth it. Not too busy, easy to get a seat . Staff seemed a bit preoccupied, but not an issue really. I had veggie burger,my friend had chicken, both with the slaw as a side, which I'd definitely recommend. Very filling.

Visited for the first time Wednesday 7th August around lunchtime. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies and the waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive to this. She could have pretty much everything on the menu which is really rare and makes the whole experience much more pleasurable for us all. The food was absolutely delicious. My 9 year old is a big lad but stuck to the kids menu and it was plenty for him. The waiter was fantastic (I think his name was Jack) very friendly and professional. Really couldn’t fault the place at all and even given the amount of choice down Bold Street we will definitely be back!

Three of us had dinner here, the food was disappointing in a word, for starters we had cheese balls and onion rings. They were fine, nothing exciting but tasted good. I had a beef burger & fries I only managed to eat a few bites of my burger before biting into cartilage, I understand there may be nothing staff or the kitchen can do about that but personally I couldn’t carry on eating it afterwards. My two friends had ‘The hangover 3’ chicken burger and one was lovely but the other was a bit pink and being sceptical it didn’t get eaten. Staff were all lovely! The restaurant has a call look, I love the exposed brick but it’s just so dark and the walls are painted black. All in all probably won’t come back, won’t recommend. Edit : 7/8/24 the day after our visit. We habe not felt right since our meal, I have been ill and my two friends are not feeling well either. We will not be returning.

Always love Fat Hippo, been going for three years and is my favourite restaurant. Been served by brummy Jack twice in our most recent visits and he makes you feel so welcome. The food is amazing and can not fault it at all!

Having been to London and Leeds branches we had good expectations but this franchise needs a review. Service was slow and disinterested, the cold chips we asked to be replaced we're replaced by the same chips being refried to inedible crispiness, from entry to departure we were an hour and a half in an empty restaurant. We won't be back and I feel sorry for the owners of the brand.

Finally a burger worth mentioning! The kraken edition was very tasty, even overly seasoned, the fried mozzarella was really an extra. Nice atmosphere with air conditioning too cold. Only one beer on tap. Friendly staff. Burger prices include fries.

Really lovely food (highly recommend the Swiss Tony burger), and the staff were amazing. Hit the spot after watching England finally win on penalties. The food was tasty, took a bit longer than expected which was the only reason it was not a 5 and a good vibe.

I was a bit worried about some of the bad reviews, but the service was quick, the burger and fries actually really good and the staff friendly.

We came for lunch on a Saturday, we were advised that it would be a 30 min wait. The food didn’t arrive for another 55 minutes, and it came to us barely warm like it’s been sat on a hotplate so not sure if they forgot something. Other tables that had arrived well after us got the food well before we did. The food was mediocre, perhaps would have been better if it was hot. All the fried items like chicken or onion rings needed seasoning on the batter as it was quite bland. Overall a disappointing experience, we paid £70 for 3 people and it made us late for the rest of us our plans

Second time eating at Fat Hippo and had the exact same experience. On both occasions had made reservations in advance and on both occasions waited nearly 2 hours for our food to arrive. After the first visit we attributed it to having been a very busy time of the day and the burgers were worth it in the end. But the second time around we were one of two tables seated upstairs when we placed our order. We then saw multiple other parties arrive, eat and leave before receiving our food! There was no sense of emergency from the hostess/floor manager who hardly made eye contact when we tried to inquire about our order. This was very frustrating considering we had planned on spending about an hour there prior to attending an event. After 1 hour and 45 minutes we received our food which we had to scoff down in minutes. Burgers were tasty! But unfortunately we'll likely be visiting a different burger establishment next time.

Food was amazing the only bad thing was had to pay £1 for a little tiny tub of BBQ sauce which I did not no when the waitress asks if would like any sauce to go with my lunch

Love this place had visited to get the at the time limited edition waco taco burger, staff are awesome foods great highly recommend going.

Fat Hippo in Liverpool serves up delicious, flavorful burgers. We got the set 2 course food and the burgers were amazing. No regrets. A must-visit spot on Bold Street for the best burgers in town. Definitely trying the chicken burgers next time they look soo crisp and amazing in person.

Waited almost 30 minutes for our drinks. Recieved one 30mins later, then didn’t get the other drink until seconds before our food came. The place had 6 people in there, was absolutely dead and still couldn’t serve a drink. Disgusting.

Chicken burger seemed raw in the middle… we mentioned this to our waitress and was told ‘it’s normal for it to be a little pink’ but it seemed more than a ‘little pink’ to me. She kindly offered to send it back & and have another free of charge but I was put off by that point. we received a discount of £2 off the burger 😬 not impressed, will not be returning.

Came here as it has such a great hype online (instagram). We reserved in advanced and we’re really looking forward to an indulgent meal. The were seated as soon as we came in staff were absolutely wonderful and helpful I wish I could give it 5 stars based on the service. But food let it down massively the food was very mediocre and the wings didn’t seem cooked enough! Even two ladies next to us complained about their chicken being pink. I did mention it to the waiter and he did apologise and took it well. Overall this place was a massive disappointment

The Bar and Grill is a very mundane and boring name for what is a really superb venue. I have rechristened it The WAGS Bar because it looks like the sort of place you would find a lot of WAGS. It's a big, open plan venue dominated by a rectangular cocktail bar where waiters will make you all sorts of different cocktails with a flourish and never a care for a sticky floor, as you perch on a stool at the bar or one of the bench seats. It's great for people-watching as the denizens of Liverpool and Merseyside put on their glad rags and killer heels and pose about. If you ever wondered who buys all that make up in department stores, here you will find the answer. There are plenty of loud beats too, but particularly tasteful ones, to get your night pumping. The music isn't so loud as to make conversation impossible, as it is at The Alchemist across the street, but loud enough to ignite a party atmosphere. The décor is cool and grandiose, in keeping with whatever that building must have once contained. When you've had enough cocktails, you can dine at the tables (and private dining rooms) in the two wings. I did on one occasion and had steak, which was very pleasant. There are plenty of different ones to choose from. But you can find many restaurants in Liverpool and the B&G stands out essentially for its cocktails and atmosphere rather than its dining experience as far as I am concerned. Probably a great place to book for a celebration.

First time eating here was today. Had a walk up bold street and decided to take my son in for a burger as always wanted to try the place. Food was seriously amazing! Staff were super friendly and the Irish woman got us a table whilst super busy. Waiting time was only 20 mins and considering the place was heaving I think that’s great. Place is grand 👍

Food was spot on as always, tater tots should be your go to side for that, that's without a doubt. Second time in a row we have waited well over an hour from ordering to receiving food. It's worth the wait but make sure you allow that kind of time so that you're not put behind for other plans

Im not sure I was given a real burger. Unless I got given a vegan by mistake but that was inedible. Everyone at the table agreed. It’s a shame too as staff were very friendly. So I may have just had a one off.

Amazing food at a very reasonable price!!! Portion sizing is very decent for a foodie like me! We had a lovely Irish waiter, he was so friendly and attentive. Just gutted we couldn't fit in a dessert after starter and main. As a heavily pregnant woman, the FRICKLES were honestly one of the best thing I've eaten, absolutely delicious!!!!! The onion rings were deffo the best I've ever had also. Will be returning again ASAP.

I'm not sure they could have taken my order could have been more wrong. I ordered for takeaway inside the restaurant. I ordered the vegan dirty tater tots, I got undercooked regular fries. Ordered the hand cut chips with my burger, got regular fries again, both so undercooked. Ordered and paid for an extra sauce and never got it. I didn't realise ant of this until I'd gotten home so couldn't even do anything about it. I've worked in plenty of kitchens in the past and used your exact fries before, Stealth fries, and how you're managing to undercook them as a burger & fries restaurant is astounding. Lastly, I'm sure you dont make them in house but the vegan burger patties are absolutely awful. Pucks of rubber that would be impossible to make taste good, no matter what you garnish them with. The restaurant wasn't even particularly busy otherwise I might understand, but there were still plenty of extra tables unused and you took a few walk-ins during the 30+ minutes I stood waiting for my food. This place needs a shake up because there are multiple way better burger places within a 5 minute walk, honestly couldn't have been more let down.

No music no atmosphere and ugly overhead spotlights waited 90 minutes for our food which was burnt and not what we ordered. Not so much as a sorry for your wait was given to us. Many people around us were complaining and having the same issue as us. I never leave negative reviews but this was an awful experience for the price.

Food was out of this world. I'm going to have to come back and double check but possibly the best burger I've ever had, and I've had a few.

Brew Dog, Black Heart is, £6 per can. Its £4 for 4 cans in tesco and Sainsbury's, which is a massive difference between £1 and £6 per can. And, I had to pour it myself to add insult to injury. I hate being ripped off. Food was OK and fairly priced for town. Service was OK, as I said, had to pour my own beer and waited for mustard that arrived as we finished our meal. However our server was pleasant.

Went yesterday, had big expectations of this place, was sat upstairs in a room with no music on at first was a bit of a strange atmosphere, people who were sat down after us got served before us first, the server did eventually realise and apologised, had the cheeseballs to start they were excellent, super tasty and filling, and that was the highlight, i went for the new Glasgow kiss burger and it was bland, the burger was a bit tasteless and wasn't juicy at all, the flavour overpowered by the pickles which strangely smelt and tasted of cabbage??? The waffles were ok if a little undercooked, the gravy was the highlight. My girlfriend had the fat hippo with handcooked chips, and same again the burger was bland, lacking in flavour. And the chips were barely warm, and floppy, undercooked. The burgers do look good and sound good, but they don't have the wow factor taste, to go with it, there's not a lot of flavours, and the pattys seem to lack seasoning, compared to let's say almost famous, which I've had recently and was mouthwateringly tasty. Overall Slow service, The starters are amazing, but the burgers are average.
