The place was freezing, the service was slow and the food was nothing to write home about - on top of this it was raining and the tiles in the entrance were incredibly slippery (I fell over on them) and there was no wet floor sign out - very disappointed for what many have claimed is the 'best burger in Liverpool' ontop of this having told the initial server that showed us to our table that I have a nut allergy this was not considered when my order was taken and the server that took our order knew nothing about the ingredients of the menu items

Ordered food with a delivery time of 17.50-18.10, delivery didn't arrive and when I attempted to call the restaurant it just rung out. Eventually I had to cancel my order at 19.30. Would not recommend anybody take the risk.

Came for lunch here. It wasn't particularly busy, waited 45 minutes for the food and it still didn't arrive. I asked to cancel the order and just pay for the drinks, the supervisor was argumentitive insisting it would be ready shortly and i should continue to wait. I refused.the supervisor then printed off the bill and handed it to me (for 2 drinks) then wondered off for almost 10 minutes before coming back to take payment. I have never been treated so poorly . Went to McDonalds and got served and recieved better. Avoid!

No respect for the delivery Riders 8:39 PM 5th of November, As usual, I went to pick up my order inside the restaurant. Some customers inside and 2 restaurant staff One staff asked me for the order number. I told him my order number then he said one was ready and the next one would be ready within 5 minutes. After waiting 9 minutes other restaurant staff came from the Bar with one order. I asked him if I should get both orders now as the previous guy told me. He said I don't know anything. If you want to wait then wait otherwise cancel. He was shouting at me in front of 2 more riders. My questions to the management team: 1) As a rider, do you think we are doing slavery? 2) The rider has no right to speak up? 3) the rider does not deserve the respect from the shop? 4) riders are not part of your business growth? 5) 95% time why do riders have to wait for a long time? 6) why do you guys hold the racist staff in your shop? I apologise for any mistakes I made.

Usually love it here, but service very delayed. 10 minutes to get a drinks order in, that then took over 10 minutes to arrive "cos the order didn't go through to the bar". Food took 40 minutes to arrive. Fries were lukewarm and cold. These were replaced, but were still only lukewarm.

It was a tasty burger. And Stephanie was a fantastic hostess. Love & best wishes ❤️

One of the best meals I've had out for a while

Seen this chain before in a few places – York, Liverpool. The Liverpool one looked at bit off-putting previously as it seemed to just be big communal benches when you look in from outside. Anyway, thought I’d check it out and was pleasantly surprised to find they have normal tables as well further back – it’s a low and narrow space, but big enough. I think the kitchen must be on another floor, as the food arrives in a tiny lift to the left as you enter. The menu, on closer inspection ,looked decent – burgers ,chips and fried things. Perfect. The portions are big, so I massively overordered.. 😃 Opted for the cheese balls to starts – these are deep fried lumps of cheese, hot from the fryer and coated in a spicy sauce. To follow, the ‘Swiss Tony’, a burger with bacon, Swiss cheese and mushrooms – this was decent, it wasn’t ridiculously tall and had good flavours. The burger came with chips, and I got an onion rings on the side – the chips were forgettable but the onion rings were huge – massive crispy rings with fluffy bits. Beautiful onion rings but so very big. Couldn’t finish them. A couple of German lads at the table next to me ordered burgers that had onion rings inside. Now those were very tall… There was some sort of Halloween promotion going on with a burger in a green bun. No to that! The pudding options were limited to three different things with cookie dough. Cookie dough is a modern scourge and a lazy, no-effort, choice to offer for pudding. As you’d therefore imagine, no pudding this time – but that was fine, as I have overordered.. 😃 The beer choices were varied – the main draught was that Camden Hells lager which I find to be way too heavy, so I opted for a Pacifico. I like a Pacifico, decent and crisp. Overall a decent choice for a place to eat – food is quick, tasty and good value. It’s not that original, but it is a good take on the American classics and I wasn’t disappointed with anything I ordered. Seated without a booking – the place was busy on a Thursday night, but not too bad and didn’t see anyone having to wait too long to be seated or for their food. There was a staircase, so possibly there’s some more tables up there as well. Or possibly it’s just where the food is coming from. Not sure.

Seen some hype on social.media saying how good this place is, it didn't disappoint. Burgers are fab. Good selection of sides and drinks and great service. Would highly recommend anyone to visit.

Visited on a busy Saturday night but we got seated quickly, food and drink service was fast and convenient & the food came piping hot. The quality of the food was 10/10, we will definitely be back again!

So disappointed with this place, we were looking forward to dining here as we heard all good things about the food. The food did live up to the hype but the service was absolutely shocking. We waited 1hour 15 minutes for food and tables seated before us had eaten and left. People around us were getting up to leave as they had Also been waiting a fair while for food. The annoying part of this whole ordeal was the fact they were still seating people… if you’re that busy then people without reservations should be turned away in my opinion. The staff were pleasant but we got different updates from different people. One person said it was next to come another said it was still cooking… the manger I believe was nice and gave us a 50% discount for the inconvenience but I won’t be returning.

Nightmarish. People waiting over an hour for their food to come all started to walk out and Fat Hippo were still taking in people and giving tables! Even though they hadn’t sorted out anyone’s food! The staff were nice but in the end we gave up and left. Thankfully we didn’t have to pay for our drinks. Since found out they have a 1 for Hygiene Rating! Kind of glad the food didn’t come :(

if i could put zero stars i would’ve ordered a simple burger n chips the burger was hard to bite and pink.obviously not cooked i felt sick to my stomach and called staff members over to check they agreed it wasn’t cooked and some one else earlier the same day had an uncooked burger supervisor woman with long grey hair glasses and a face like a slapped ass was fuming that my burger wasn’t cooked as if it was my fault and could her hear chatting shit about me not even 2 meters away from me I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN only good thing was charles newest staff member in there and knew better than the supervisor absolute joke !

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED! Supervisor with the long grey hair has terrible communication. Gave me raw chicken that had abit of flesh in it, even staff memebers agreed the chicken was uncooked and she refused to take it off the bill and said thats what chicken thighs come like! LOL! Staff Charles is absolutely amazing he checked on us throughout, even offered water cause we was feeling ill off the sight of chicken burger. Never again unless Charles runs the place!

I ordered through uber eats paid over £35 for 2 burgers and side of loaded fries it came cold dry no sauce to speak of when I rung the restaurant got nothing just a sad sorry I would not order here again vile the portion was disgusting

I ordered "wild bill", it was good. The place is clean and well organized. Staffs are friendly.

We weren’t impressed that we had to wait nearly 30 minutes for our drinks, which we saw on the side ready to bring over for about 10 minutes before they came. There were 3 waiters but the restaurant only had 5 occupied tables so wasn’t overly busy. Two of the waiters were happier to have a chat between themselves but the two other waiters were okay. We also had to ask for them to take our order as we had been sat down for 10 minutes already. Once the food arrived after a 45 minute wait, one of our orders was wrong so had to be sent back. All in all, the food was nice but the service was terrible.

Raw Food - I’m not a person to ever complain about anything but this should be brought to attention. I ordered food from here on a Monday night at 8pm. Waiting 1h50 for the food to eventually get here. When the food arrived my girlfriend took a bite of her burger and pointed out it was completely pink inside. I was extremely let down, not only waiting nearly 2 hours on what I thought was a high quality meal but also the beef burger arriving being completely pink inside. All the food was cold upon delivery also. Our entire order has gone to the bin. I didn’t trust the chicken burger I had ordered for myself. I spoke to a staff member on the phone who was very understanding and apologetic. None the less for £35 this is nowhere near good enough. I sincerely hope FatHippo take this as constructive feed back and strive to improve

Food after the races. We always enjoy The Bar & Grill and this was the perfect choice after a day at Haydock. The plus was we are Individual members and the offer this week was a free bottle of Prosecco for members. Lovely. Food was excellent as always.

Food was very decent. However with a half full restaurant it took a while for anyone to come to us once we arrive. Was hoping it was a glitch, but the shoddy service continued. Once ordered, it took over 40 mins for the food to arrive. After which we had no other contact from the staff to even try to get another round of drinks as we had drank all of our drinks before the food arrived. I’m always looking for positives, thankfully the food was decent the service, no so much

Food was delicious. The portion size is big. We have to get our leftovers to takeaway. Staff are polite, friendly and conversations just flowed. The service is brilliant. When we're back in Liverpool we'll definitely come back.

Came here as part of a stag party. One of the best burgers I have ever eaten. I bought the hangover burger full of flavour the chips were seasoned and delicious as well. Worth every penny if I come to Liverpool again I'm definetley visiting here again. Really busy restaurant and it's not hard to see why. The staff were really friendly as well thankyou for a good dining experience ❤️👍

The highlight of this was the ‘Crack’ wings. They didn’t look much but the coating was perfect and the sweet/ Parmesan combo worked. The ‘born slippy’ burger was also really good. Only downside was I ordered the dirty fries and they delivered plain but overall good experience.

They served the 2nd best burger, it’s limited one with peanut and sweetener chicken burger, the second one honey with chilli burger they come with fires with the same flavour

Great service friendly waiters. Dirty waffles were amazing. But the Semi-parmed life was disappointing. Chicken was nog fresh and wrongly baked flavourless. We left half of the burger because it was inedible.

Absolutely amazing service and fantastic food, this is my 2nd time coming now and the quality of the food is definitely worth the prices they're charging, everything come super hot to the table. The only downside to this place is not many lights were on when I visited, now I dont know if it's just because they dont work but it just makes it it a little bit dull besides from the lighting the overall quality of the restaurant was super well kept, will be coming here again, the portion size is very big as well btw so make sure you come here on an empty stomach. 😊😊

Good place for a dinner outing. Food is seriously good if you are looking for burger-style food. You certainly won't leave hungry. Can personally recommend the Dat Hippo burger.

Food tasted crazy amazing, by far the best burger ive ever had. I had the Filly cheesesteak and filly fries. Was dream worthy. My partner had the buttermilk chicken burger. She loved it too! Beer on tap too which is a winner. Sever was Hannah G - she was lovely and polite. Definitely an asset to FatHippo ☺️. Give her a pay rise!

Delicious burger, this place was recommended to me and it was worth it. Not too busy, easy to get a seat . Staff seemed a bit preoccupied, but not an issue really. I had veggie burger,my friend had chicken, both with the slaw as a side, which I'd definitely recommend. Very filling.

Three of us had dinner here, the food was disappointing in a word, for starters we had cheese balls and onion rings. They were fine, nothing exciting but tasted good. I had a beef burger & fries I only managed to eat a few bites of my burger before biting into cartilage, I understand there may be nothing staff or the kitchen can do about that but personally I couldn’t carry on eating it afterwards. My two friends had ‘The hangover 3’ chicken burger and one was lovely but the other was a bit pink and being sceptical it didn’t get eaten. Staff were all lovely! The restaurant has a call look, I love the exposed brick but it’s just so dark and the walls are painted black. All in all probably won’t come back, won’t recommend. Edit : 7/8/24 the day after our visit. We habe not felt right since our meal, I have been ill and my two friends are not feeling well either. We will not be returning.

Visited for the first time Wednesday 7th August around lunchtime. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies and the waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive to this. She could have pretty much everything on the menu which is really rare and makes the whole experience much more pleasurable for us all. The food was absolutely delicious. My 9 year old is a big lad but stuck to the kids menu and it was plenty for him. The waiter was fantastic (I think his name was Jack) very friendly and professional. Really couldn’t fault the place at all and even given the amount of choice down Bold Street we will definitely be back!

Always love Fat Hippo, been going for three years and is my favourite restaurant. Been served by brummy Jack twice in our most recent visits and he makes you feel so welcome. The food is amazing and can not fault it at all!

Having been to London and Leeds branches we had good expectations but this franchise needs a review. Service was slow and disinterested, the cold chips we asked to be replaced we're replaced by the same chips being refried to inedible crispiness, from entry to departure we were an hour and a half in an empty restaurant. We won't be back and I feel sorry for the owners of the brand.

Finally a burger worth mentioning! The kraken edition was very tasty, even overly seasoned, the fried mozzarella was really an extra. Nice atmosphere with air conditioning too cold. Only one beer on tap. Friendly staff. Burger prices include fries.

Hit the spot after watching England finally win on penalties. The food was tasty, took a bit longer than expected which was the only reason it was not a 5 and a good vibe.

Second time eating at Fat Hippo and had the exact same experience. On both occasions had made reservations in advance and on both occasions waited nearly 2 hours for our food to arrive. After the first visit we attributed it to having been a very busy time of the day and the burgers were worth it in the end. But the second time around we were one of two tables seated upstairs when we placed our order. We then saw multiple other parties arrive, eat and leave before receiving our food! There was no sense of emergency from the hostess/floor manager who hardly made eye contact when we tried to inquire about our order. This was very frustrating considering we had planned on spending about an hour there prior to attending an event. After 1 hour and 45 minutes we received our food which we had to scoff down in minutes. Burgers were tasty! But unfortunately we'll likely be visiting a different burger establishment next time.

We came for lunch on a Saturday, we were advised that it would be a 30 min wait. The food didn’t arrive for another 55 minutes, and it came to us barely warm like it’s been sat on a hotplate so not sure if they forgot something. Other tables that had arrived well after us got the food well before we did. The food was mediocre, perhaps would have been better if it was hot. All the fried items like chicken or onion rings needed seasoning on the batter as it was quite bland. Overall a disappointing experience, we paid £70 for 3 people and it made us late for the rest of us our plans

Food was amazing the only bad thing was had to pay £1 for a little tiny tub of BBQ sauce which I did not no when the waitress asks if would like any sauce to go with my lunch

Fat Hippo in Liverpool serves up delicious, flavorful burgers. We got the set 2 course food and the burgers were amazing. No regrets. A must-visit spot on Bold Street for the best burgers in town. Definitely trying the chicken burgers next time they look soo crisp and amazing in person.

Waited almost 30 minutes for our drinks. Recieved one 30mins later, then didn’t get the other drink until seconds before our food came. The place had 6 people in there, was absolutely dead and still couldn’t serve a drink. Disgusting.

Chicken burger seemed raw in the middle… we mentioned this to our waitress and was told ‘it’s normal for it to be a little pink’ but it seemed more than a ‘little pink’ to me. She kindly offered to send it back & and have another free of charge but I was put off by that point. we received a discount of £2 off the burger 😬 not impressed, will not be returning.
