2 for £12 doubles during the week which is a steal - lovely views when you’re sat outside and accessible loos. They have crabbies strawberry which I’ve never seen elsewhere ✨ and there were non alc options.

Quiet night for this one as it was a Thursday, so we sat outside for a spot of people watching. Great selection of rums and other spirits, good decor, and customer service.

Just walking around Liverpool, we came across this bar. It was a hot sunny day and unfortunately this place was in the shade but we went in for a drink. Bar man was friendly, gave us the drinks menu and we ordered. We sat outside while our drinks were prepared and brought to us. Great drinks, great place.

Wanting to use up a little time before going for an early meal, we popped in for a quick drink to the Black Barrel Rum Bar. Nice little place that just needs a few customers to create an atmosphere which will make it into a great little place. Appreciate the "January blues" and people reigning it in a little after the Festive period. Very helpful staff who advised on rum types held and it was a "no brainer" when we were told they had a Dom Papa (one of our son's favorites). After a chat with the staff we decided to call in after the meal and have a favorite of ours, a "rumspresso". Very nicely presented and a wonderful flavour. Castle Street is not a usual place for us to drink or eat but I can see our habits changing with a return visit this this place on the cards when business gets back up and running. Looked like it may have served food but did not try hence the Not Sure marking and terrible food below.

My boyfriend and I had walked past a few times and thought we would stop in for a drink. Best decision ever. The staff are super friendly and the drinks are delicious, the variety won’t disappoint you.

Had a few great nights here. Great staff and a good range of beers and spirits. Will definitely be back.

Visited with friends and had DELICIOUS tiki cocktails! The staff are really helpful and can offer great recommendations. 2 for £12 cocktails too Sunday to Thursday. We will definitely be back!

Dead Man’s Fingers Fan!! This place was great. Tiki cocktail list as long as my arm and 2 for £12 midweek. We tried a Zombie and a Rum Runner, both were delicious. Staff were helpful when we asked for a vodka cocktail for my wife and even included it on the deal. Will definitely be back, top afternoon!!

Lovely little bar on Castle Street, perfect place to sit in the sun, visited and had 2 rum and cokes, v reasonably priced for the area and staff friendly and attentive

Mental prices in here and staff who look totally disengaged from society. About as captivating as a ball of plasticine charging a load of money for two drinks. It’s not London, love.

With Benfica fans in town it was a great atmosphere on Castle street and this bar does some of the best (and strongest) cocktails in town !

Been in Liverpool over the weekend with my girlfriend for our anniversary. This place is the best place we’ve been. Staff are so friendly and hospitable. Banging boozer.

The 12th of April saw some of the coronavirus lockdown restrictions lifted for the hard hit hospitality sector with pubs being allowed to reopen with outside service only and with this in mind my twin brother Stephen and I decided to jump the train down from Kirkby to Liverpool City Centre and visit some of the great pubs and bars our city possesses and walking down Castle Street we decided to drop into Black Barrel and what a great visit.This is a wonderful looking bar,nice decor and furnishings, exposed brickwork, a cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Castle Street, ideal as outside service is the order of the day till the 17th of May when inside and outside service is permitted. We were here on a Monday afternoon, the whole of Castle Street was busy with a great atmosphere, we got a table were we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system on our N.H.S covid app and then ordered a real ale each, we chose Hawkshead Brewery pale ale ,these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular bar .My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced, full bodied pale ale with a big hit of hops, very easy to drink, a pale ale style that is a particular favourite of ours,it was just so good being out and about again, enjoying a cold ale ,socialising and getting back to some semblance of normality. We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Black Barrel is easy to locate along Castle Street, a street and area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants. Opening hours are;Monday to Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A great bar ,if your in the area most definitely well worth checking out.

Black Barrel (Rum bar) is a superb bar that offers a great range of drinks and a superb food menu.Opened in 2019 Black Barrel is named after the method of aging the rums in a charred barrel to Intensify the taste of the rums. Black Barrel has a fantastic interior with a chic/shabby look with great seating areas and excellent lighting and a great bar area and an excellent outside seating area.We went here on the 12th of April and due to the Covid-19 restrictions there was only outside seating.This is ideal here since all of the Castle street area is pedestrianised now and all the bars and restaurants have superb outside seating areas.Once we gave our details for the track and trace we were led to a table and were then given a menu.The specifically in here is an excellent range of rums and cocktail's and a good range of beers and when we visited here we opted to have a real ale each from the Hawkshead brewery which was served in perfect condition and well priced for this area of the city centre. Black Barrel is a superb bar and is a bar we have visited numerous times and is one of the many bars and restaurants that can be found in the Castle street area.A bar which is worth going to especially if you like rum and cocktails and is a bar I will visit on my next visit to the city centre. So easy to locate from James Street train station turn left on James street and walk along then take a left onto Castle street Its a five minute walk.(This is my first review of the Black Barrel).Opening Hours. Amazing cocktails and good atmosphere, will certainly go again

Came here last night as it always seems lively and I hear good reviews about it. Really let down by a properly bad waitress. Who was rude, she claimed there were no menus available but couldnt be bothered telling us what drinks were available. She got one of my mates order wrong but we didn’t raise an issue, still charged us 32 quid for a beer, 1 rum and soda and 2 vodka lemonades, which yeah it’s a posh area but still seems ridiculous. Real shame that, nice location and everything but the waitress sucked all vibe out of that place and even other tables discussed it with us that she was bringing everything down.

Good atmosphere waited along time to be served though 1 bartender 1 server for a busy bar is well understaffed for this environment

Very good selection of Drinks. Can sit outside, even in the rain under the huge umbrellas ! Very attentive staff, and clean establishment keeping to the guidelines. Would recommend and will visit again!

Came here for a cocktail drinks were average price for the area, castle street looks good as no traffic is allowed there from early morning to 11pm, so a nice atmosphere with people sitting outside the cocktails were nice, staff were friendly, my only complaints were should have been another waiter as it was busy and more needs to be done about the beggers coming up to you but this isn't the restaurants or bars fault but it can be annoying and some may find it intimidating

This is a neat little place to grab a drink. The woman at the bar was so very helpful and made an amazing drink. They are overpriced for sure, but I still recommend coming in for a drink. Very relaxed vibe and wide selection of good drinks.

My twin brother Stephen and I decided to have a day out in Liverpool city centre hitting some of the great real ale pubs and bars our great city has to offer ,we noticed this bar ,hadn't been here before so gave it a look and what a very pleasant time we had.Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, the interior is cool,exposed brickwork, neon lit decorative features including a superb skull ,nice decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar, a very cool place indeed. We were here on a Saturday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff, we noticed they had real ales from Hawkshead Brewery and we tried their pale ale style beer,these were served in excellent condition and were absolutely delicious. My real ale was exceptional, a light,hoppy and unpretentious pale ale with a big hit of hops, very easy to drink, a classic pale ale .We both really enjoyed our pale ales in here and for a first time visit we were totally impressed with this bar. Black Barrel is easy to locate along Castle Street. Opening hours are;Monday to Sunday, 11am till Midnight. A great bar,well worth checking out if your in the area.

Really friendly staff and good cocktails

Completely disagree with the poor reviews. Me and my closest friend are regulars and are both uni students- the drinks are still affordable. New food menu is to die for (I personally recommend the IPA fries!) Food is cheap and tastes amazing. The bar staff are the most welcoming with the ability to do both- provide a professional service and banter amongst the clientele- chilled environment! Only issue is how small the place is and on a Saturday can get very busy! First come first serve I guess!

Drinks are incredibly overpriced for what you recieve. The skull glass is cool though.

Called in for a cocktail on the way back to our apartment round the corner. Bartender was lovely and took time explaining the cocktails and offers and took his time making them. Nice chilled out ambience and good value (2 for £10). Totally disagree with negative comments. Will return when we are in Liverpool for sure

We were visiting Liverpool for a birthday trip and were staying a stones throw away from this great little bar. As soon as we stepped through the doors we were greeted by a friendly staff member and great festive music.The place was immaculate, warm and very inviting. Superb range of cocktails and great details. The bartender (whose name I didn’t get sorry) was very knowledgable and answered any queries we had.Fab place - I can’t believe the negative reviews. Definitely be back the next time we’re visiting.

Llegamos antes de las 12 de la noche y había un camarero que estaba almorzando. Se puso de pie de inmediato y nos recibió. Dijimos que solo estábamos mirando el menú de cócteles y nos lo mostró y dijo con una sonrisa "no abrimos por 10 minutos pero estoy feliz de servirle", lo que pensé que era bonito. Es un lugar encantador y tuvimos un cóctel Tropic Thunder que estaba en forma. Fue muy educado y nos hizo sentir realmente relajados. Sin duda volvería.

Great rum bar with a really good selection

Bar tender was incredibly rude, too busy flirting with drunk girl to acknowlege any other customers! Also offensive language and gestures before any word was spoken by us!

6 of us visited late afternoon on saturday 2nd november 2019. The menu wasn't great but we decided to take the plunge. The cocktails were very mediocre, we ordered 2 which contained prosecco, you couldn't taste anything but Prosecco. The other 4 cocktails didn't taste that good either. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Amazing small plates and even better cocktails, me and a friend popped in on a shopping trip this week and were looked after by the amazing Danielle! Thank you, can’t wait to come back for drinks of a weekend :)

Small friendly bar right by the town hall with outdoor seating. A fine range of cocktails and rums available. Nice ambience but was a little quiet when we visited. If you like your rums and gins this is the place to come. Also a mexican/ carribean food menu.

It’s the second time we’ve visited here, the first time we came by it by accident, loved the atmosphere so much when we came back to Liverpool we hunted this place out again, very friendly staff, relaxed, and clean, already made plans to return with friends, if you like rum oh and gin.. it’s the perfect place xx

Visited this lovely looking bar twice in the last couple of weeks but the last visit will be my last.

Whilst the bar is a great location with good music, one of the bar men is particularly rude and obnoxious. He has little banter and did not make our friends from outside the city welcome. Very disappointed!

Great atmosphere, lots of friendly patrons. The staff were great. My girlfriend had the 3 for £10 taster cocktails - all were enjoyed! I had a simple, satisfying pint. Really great place, staff were a great laugh too! Nice little venue.

It was such a pleasant surprise to stumble across this modern comfortable rum bar. It had a good selection of rums, both dark and light and enjoyed our trio of rum cocktails. 10 out of 10 to our very knowledgeable and attentive bar man Antony. They do serve food however we had not long eaten so didn’t order any therefore cannot comment. There isnt any free parking as this bar is in central Liverpool, just facing Liverpool Town Hall and a short walk from Moorefields and also James street train stations.
