Ragga's Caribbean Take Away in Liverpool

Super delicious chicken wings, curry, stew. It's all soooooo delicious 😋 I tried most thing's on da menu and was delighted. I can't wait to go back!!

I visited the restaurant yesterday and was really looking forward to a great meal. However, I was served chicken that was burnt and unfortunately inedible. This was quite disappointing and disrespectful if you just look at the picture. I believe that with a bit more attention to cooking, the restaurant could greatly improve. I hope my feedback helps you in the future!

Really gone down hill. Food was bland and portions would just about fill a child. Stew chicken , well having had many of stew chicken in my life non ever tasted ever looked like their stew chicken. Total disappointment ! Has this place not heard of spice and seasoning. Whoever is doing the cooking ain't good.

Was up for the night went in was greeted by a very kind lady who helped my friend decide what he wanted 😂 food was great and delicious, great price for what was presented well done guys keep up the great work 👍🏼

Raggas has fully went down hill no flavour to the curry’s at all taste like water literally haven’t had a curry meal from there for over a year now fully went down hill.. if you want proper soul food liverpool go to MAHOE BLUE ON AIGBURTH ROAD 10X BETTER

Shocking food an portion size, overpriced an the food is warmed up in the microwave, if you want authentic Jamaican food try Mo'Bay Shack down the road you wont be disappointed...

Really tasty food, love the atmosphere in here, I think the food needs to be a little more spicier but other than that it was nice, it is halal too so a nice place to go after jummah, I'd recommend the oxtail, the prices are also really good.

After living in Liverpool for 15 years I finally got to Raggas! It was soo good I went back two days later

It used to be nice and good. Now portions aren't fit for a kid and prices have increased and flavour isn't really there

Went first time today on the way back from the office, I will be going back. Wow 🤩

Been going for about 7-8 years and always get a tasty meal. The meals are always seasoned well and although spicy they never blow your head off The West Indian style curry is mega as Is the oxtail and stewed steak and sweet potatoes. All the meats are tender and melt in your mouth. The saltfish fritters are a lovely little snack to eat on the way home and also the Jamaican patties . The lamb pattie is my favourite with all the flavours coming thru , especially the thyme. But they do beef and chicken also. The fried chicken is juicy and don't forget to get a couple of festival which are like donuts but not sweet and you can mop up all the spicy sauces. The coleslaw is fresh and crunchy and really helps to balance all the spices and flavours. Everything on the menu is really tasty and it's hard to stop eating it even when you are full. Also any leftovers mixed and heated together the next day is a perfect reminder of the fantastic flavours. The stewed lamb chops had a good bit of meat and they was in a rich gravy .wil defo get them again.

(It's that good 👌) *******Update 07.03.2024****** Welcomed by @scouseghettogourmet, I stopped by after work and ordered takeaway for 2: 2 x Rice and Pea 2 x Chicken wings 1 x Plantain 1 x Jerk gravy 2 x Ka Grape Soda £8.98 for both of us to eat a great, tasty meal, which was plentiful👌 Raggas 🙌

Got the chicken curry and its one of the nicest things iv ever eaten - also v reasonably priced

Visited this weekend, my partner had the brown stew chops with rice and peas. He’s very fussy and said the chops were the best he’d ever had! High praise coming from him. I had the veggie curry with white rice and a salt fish fritter. Highly recommend both. We’ll be back soon.

Mutton was delicious. Much better than Turtle Bay and half the price. If you like West Indian food, this is the place.

Just some seriously good food! Only problem is that we just want more of it. Mutton was cooked perfectly for us and most of the menu is gluten free, win win. Delicious very satisfying 🫶🏼.

I’m Jamaican myself and this is the worst jerk chicken I’ve had in my life, watery, no jerk literally just peri peri chicken, literally 1/10 would not recommend. The curry goat was awful too but not as watery at the jerk, honestly shocking experience

Always come here but today was a bad raggas order 2 large curry muttons was like water no spice at all meat testing like it had been boiled no flavour at all

Travel from Widnes to come here but would travel further if need be. Keep trying to steer from the jerk chicken but can’t pull myself away from it. It’s truly delicious, moorish with all the right spice for me. Also tried the chicken soup today which is why I went for a small jerk. Soup also on another level. If this food was served in a high end establishment it would not disappoint. Staff amazing and always ready to help/advise. Do yourself a favour and try some Ragga Flava.

Nice little shop to serve Jamaican cuisine. Customer services is good and very friendly. I bought a small portion of jerk chicken and rice which was nice but not enough. Next time will try the large portion. PS. see attached updated menu

Never really eaten Caribbean food, was please with my choice of Brown Stew Chicken and Rice with peas. Thought it would be spicy, but wasn't. Think next time I'd ask for something with jerk. Defo would go back, reasonably price and very quick service

First time here ordered jerk chicken and rice for my son he absolutely loved it said it was delicious. We will definitely be back and try something else .

Very skimpy on portions, 4 prawns in jerk prawns, and about 7 tiny pieces of mutton in curry not really value for money 😕. Taste and spices were lovely but im afraid I won't be returning to this establishment

Terrible customer service. We are a Family of 11 that drove 4 hours to visit Liverpool for the first time. This restaurant came highly recommended but sadly we didn’t get the try the food. We called up at 2:30 and spoke to a lady that told us they close at 9pm so we need to be there before 8:30pm as we couldn’t reserve a table. We walked for 40 mins arrived at 8pm to be told they didn’t have space. I asked if some could sit on a table even though it was for 6 people we could put the 8 children on there she said yes and then we was going to use the sitting at window also. After we got the children seated we asked how you order she reply that there is no food and they are closing 8:30pm. I told her what the lady told me on the phone but she started her shift after we called and didn’t know anything about us calling. Very poor organisation and communication. The child as you can think was very upset and hungry as we then had to walk 45 mins to the city centre to find food for children to eat. Terrible start to are holiday here, Especially with us coming to celebrate Jamaican independence.

Food was on point. Fresh, tasty, great portions for an affordable price. I ordered the curried mutton, curried chicken, homemade coleslaw, dumplings, jerk chicken, steamed veg and extra rice & peas for 5 of us and we couldn't finish it. Yum!!! Looking forward to going back when I'm in Liverpool again.

Visiting from Edmonton Alberta CANADA🇨🇦, & I have to admit I have had better by thousand's of miles! First of the young lad at the front could be a little more friendly when it comes to service. Secondly your table surfaces are all very sticky which leaves a lot to be desired. Then the food is served I had a small oxtail rice & peas. You place my cutlery directly onto your sticky surface table...how gross is that??? Then you don't offer me any napkins or at the very least a paper towel, nor do you wrap your cutlery in a paper napkin of paper towel..furthermore there was no enquiry about whether I wanted water or even a juice!!!! Overall the oxtail was cooked to perfection ...but you have a long way to go to improve your service!

Chicken wings were good and dumpling was decent. But curry goat and rice tasted weird. I have been eating curry goat from birth and I’ve never tasted them flavours before. Portion size was good and the staff were nice. However they claim to close at 9 but I got there at 8.40 and they were closed saying they don’t take orders after half 8, which again was strange I’ve brought food from Carribean shops all over the country and have never heard of them not taking orders half hour before they close.

Very good portion sizes but the food was lacklustre and as a Grenadian who has grown up with amazing Caribbean food this was disappointing. Whilst the lamb chops were the star of the show they still weren’t a patch on my Yorkshire born and bred boyfriend’s take on the dish and like the jerk chicken and curry chicken (the latter strangely boneless which dents the flavour) were marooned like islands surrounded by a sea of watery sauce which diluted the taste and made everything lack ‘oomph’. The rice and peas were bland and substandard but the plantain and festivals looked and tasted the part. Not sure who is cooking the food or running the place but more authenticity and attention to detail needed. The search for a good Merseyside Caribbean food eatery continues…

Shhhhhit....feel sorry for ragga his food was much better,its went down hill since he was deported, the curry goat was water down,and that salt fish fritter was all burned and looked like no fritter iv seen before, feel ashamed this is eating out in Liverpool, I think I'll stay in next time,waste of time and money...absolutely shittttt...... ..!

The portions are really small. Was shocked when i got home . I have been to a lot of Caribbean restaurants in london, leeds and manchester but this is ridiculously small . Does the owner know this i wonder ?

Have been to this raggas a while ago I got my order home and was shocked to find 2 table spoons of my food and another tub of rice and peas I am shocked and feel I’ve been robbed I wonder if the person who owns this place knows what is leaving the kitchen I think not! This place will soon go down if it carry’s on serving portions of food this measly size . Stop robbing your customers and give them the food and portion size they pay for . I had to go elsewhere to eat and I definitely will not be going back here.

If your going to eat out in Liverpool weather it’s lunch or tea then you deffo have to try a raggas, eat here nearly every week in work for lunch and various times for tea, really clean gaff, lovely friendly employees who help a lot and help the other customers in store, brown stewed chicken is a must try with rice and pea! Also them festivals and salt fish fritters are best in the country hands down, will always scran from here if I’m passing by.

Lovely friendly staff, I had the chicken curry and I was happy with my meal. I also had a beef pattie and fried dumpling again I was happy with what I got, I'll definitely be returning again in the future.

Original and the best Carribbean in Liverpool. The jerk chicken always distracts me from the rest of the menu. Get a festival to mop up that sweet sweet sauce too.

First ever visit for taieaway during lockdown. So glad we gave it a try. Absolutely gorgeous boneless chicken jerk with rice and peas for myself, husband had the curried chicken with rice and peas, a side or chicken wings, dumplings and a festival. It was all delicious, helpful, smiley staff too who were happy to advise. Will be returning when next in Liverpool.

We only went in for patties but have decided we'll try jerk Chicken and Indian chicken curry as well! What a great decision we made by stopping by! There foods always been amazing over the years but I still need to know the secret to how they get there curry mutton so nice.

Food was amazing. Sadly was disappointed with the covid measures in place. Too many people in the shop, half had no masks on.. the staff didn't say one word control the situation.

Portions are tiny in comparison to other such take aways I visited. They need to visit ones in Greater Manchester to get a comparison

Just had the nicest takeaway ever from here. West Indian chicken curry, jerk chicken & jerk chips. Was really amazing! Definitely recommend
