Great food. Fantastic service surprisingly accommodating of kids. But the customer service of a high class restaurant. Friendly and inviting. Great choice of foods. Some parts of the menu wasn't available such as pizza but the alternatives were actually amazing. Highly recommend the duck and the pistachio tiramisu. Great portion sizes and medium to high price.

Excellent Italian with plenty of choices and very helpful staff. Enjoyed our pre-theatre meal, all in good time.

Me and my boyfriend visited on our first date,then went back for a second and now looking forward to a third time! The food was spectacular both times,the service is quick and elegant,but i’m happy to say i didn’t pay for the meal so i wouldn’t know about the prices!🤣 The music could use a little touch up,but then again you don’t go to a restaurant for its music.Everything seems to be in order with the cleanliness,and i’m glad to hear my language is spoken and the staff are italian,i think that’s a bonus point. Definitely worth a monthly visit!Love you Riva🙏

The service was so slow that we waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for a pasta. Also, I don't know if they were in a hurry or if their pasta was like this, but the pasta seemed not fully cooked. San Carlo right next door is a better place for 100% food. The prices of the food they make are very, very high for this taste and speed, and the portions are not that filling.

We waited 1.5 hours for our dinner. The restaurant was busy with many groups, but the service was poorly organized. If you can’t manage a high volume of customers properly, you shouldn’t accept more than you can handle. It was my first time dining with my friend, and the experience completely ruined our meal. This level of service is unacceptable, especially at this price point.

Pre booked and pre ordered, waited 2 hours for food, with no apology or explanation. When we complained we got it will be 2 mins every half an hour absolute joke

Went for lunch today at Riva with my friend, and we had a lovely time, I was served by a manager and and he helped me to a Download the app to get 25% off which is a great deal, honestly service was great, the food was also amazing I had the arancini and the tagliatelle bolognese that was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised with the great service provided, the attention and atmosphere, thank you for a great lunch will definitely be coming back.

We had a terrible experience at Riva Blu Italian on Castle street, Liverpool. We definitely won’t be wasting our time or money there again! We ordered the seafood pasta, but there were only a few clams and they forgot to add the calamari. What we ended up with was just a plate of thick, bland pasta, which wasn’t good at all. When we mentioned the issue to the assistant manager and manager, their responses were dismissive and unprofessional. This place fails to deliver on both food and service. There are far better Italian restaurants in the city. Save your money and go somewhere else!

Called in here for a takeaway. I ordered a truffle risotto and a small beer Moretti, for while I waited. Food was ready in under 10 minutes. Service was nice and friendly from Callum. Under £20. Food was nice and I would order again. I would recommend that they consider a couple of things. 1st to have some form of a bag to carry your food away in. 2nd to consider offering a flat 20% discount on takeaway food. I would say that this is common place for restaurants, to have this discount for takeaway customers.

Took advantage of young girls out for 17th birthday meal, tiny portions for the price charged. Then refused to remove service charge. £158 for 5 people added service charge to £174

Went New Year’s Day for evening meal had a table booked .. heard a lot nice things about this place was are first time for us and experience was bad … everything was very slow .. took an hour get a starter and 2 hours for main.. had remind staff countless times as we just sat about waiting to be served .. when the food finally came was tasteless was big-big shame as we was expecting top experience was looking forward to this as we love Italian ..

All I can say is woowww. Why doesn’t google not go to 10 stars as 5 isn’t enough! From the moment I walked in to the minute I left. I eat out nearly everyday and by far the best tasting food I possibly had. They came with the bill and there was no need to look at the price ! Worth every penny. I will see yous again for sure highly recommended!!! 12/10.

There is no email address for the restaurant so I put this through on the enquiry form a week ago. As I have not received a reply, I am putting this review on here. Re booking on 7 December 2024 at 20.45 I wish to let you know of my complete dismay at your level of service on Saturday. I booked a table for myself and 3 friends (four ladies in our sixties) as we were in Liverpool for the weekend. We have eaten there before and also in our local Birmingham restaurant. We had had a lovely meal with you on Thursday (and spent a fair amount of money) and because it was so nice, I re-booked for Saturday at 20.45. However, as you will recall, the weather was absolutely atrocious with Storm Darragh and so we decided it was best to remain in our hotel to eat. I rang your restaurant in advance of 20.45 but the phone was not answered. So my friend braved the elements and went to your restaurant to advise that we would not be attending. You can imagine my disbelief to receive an email at 20.53 to inform me that the restaurant had cancelled my booking and that you have charged me £40. I appreciate your terms and conditions but I do believe these were extenuating circumstances. The whole of the West coast was told not to venture out unless absolutely necessary and to be perfectly honest, I don’t believe a table booking was classed as that. Like I say, we had enjoyed a meal with you two days previously, we had tried two ways to cancel in advance of the booking slot and you still debited my account with £40.

Good service, delicious food, good mood awesome restaurant

Visited middle of the day for a christmas meal with work colleagues. So disappointed with everything. We booked some time ago for 7 and the table had been set for 6. Waited over an hour from ordering to receiving starter. No explanation why just a free bowl of olives which half of us did nit like anyway. Starter was nice but main course was very disappointing. Steak was overcooked and so fatty and tough and the peppercorn sauce tasted like instant gravy. 4 of us chose steak and all had the same experience. To be fair ive had better steak in pub grub!! Dessert was nice but you can't really go wrong with ice cream. There appeared to be a function om somewhere else in the restaurant and that was where the chef and rest of the staffs focus was, leaving us with a less than satisfactory experience. Such a shame and if I was paying I would certainly have complained !!

We had reserved. It was clearly communicated that we would have the table for a maximum of 1.5 hours. After an hour we want the dessert menu which we were denied. The plates were cleared while my mother was still eating. Her plate was taken away from her as soon as she had the last slice of pizza in her hand. She had to stuff the piece in very quickly and we were very rudely asked to finally make room. That's why never again even though the food is very good. The ambience is ok, the plastic plants seem dusty and the noise level is too high for the price range.

Visited Riva Blu Italian for a drink before dinner. Amazing venue and awesome atmosphere. Great service. Drinks were good too. Even it was quick visit but had super cool time there. Sure will be back when in Liverpool again.

Umberto gave me and my girlfriend the BEST spiced mango margarita cocktail and he made his own spiced margarita for her also and she was very very happy. Food was also amazing like always but Umberto gave us the best bar service amazing guy thanks very much you made me and my girl very happy, we will be coming back because of him, thanks again! 💯💯👌🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Amazing! Umberto was an absolute gem. He made me a spicy mango margarita and then made me a spicy margarita without mango which was his own style and it was lovely!!! Had to come back to the bar after my meal for another round of drinks! The food was gorgeous as usual but Umberto made the night extra lovely! Will be back!!!

Excellent food. We were served by a very friendly waiter from Zaragoza and the place is beautiful. The pomodoro pizza and risotto were very good. Highly recommended to spend a good evening in company.

An excellent evening, this was our third visit to Riva Blu, gets better each time.

2 meals were served luke warm. Service was slow and music was too loud.

I am not one to write reviews ever, but the situation and experience we had today warrants such an effort. There was an abysmal lack of communication from staff to inform us that there was over an hour delay for our table (and an additional 40 minutes to be served at the table as informed by the waiting staff 20 minutes after arriving at our 6 O’Clock booking). In future my advice to the staffing team would be to inform customers via email or phone call to confirm they will still be coming after informing them there is such a delay, so you can save all of our time and money (travel, parking, drinks) instead of hoping we just take this on the chin. What a disappointment. Luckily there were more accommodating Italian restaurants in the local area.

Awful experience. Booked a table for 6pm, arrived on time and was told there would be a 15 minute wait, so we waited at the bar and ordered a drink. 20 minutes later we asked how much longer the wait would be and we were told we wouldn't likely be sat down until 7:15pm. Not surprisingly we decided to leave. The staff should have called to inform us of the delay before we arrived. Massive waste of time and ruined our whole night. Will not be going back.

Food with soul! I loved the burrata and they also customised green pesto pasta.. however I love to see more vegetarian options on the menu. The staff is lovely. PS the pistachio tiramisu has no tiramisu.. please change the name to pistachio indulgence!

My husband and I went here when we visited liverpool for a weekend away in October. It was amazing! The food was absolutely delicious (and filling) and great value for what we had. Also the cocktails were out of this world! We would come back here without a doubt!

Went here for dinner, was 15 minutes late due to traffic was told the booking was automatically cancelled wasn’t sure about this. Waiter was very nice although our food took over an hour to come out and no communication to say it was delayed when asked. Food was very nice and at least worth a bit of waiting. Probably wouldn’t go back again.

The service was excellent! My friend and I ordered two mojitos made by a bar man named Angel! A real Angel for sure, a really funny guy with positive energy! We'll surely go back for a few more rounds of mojitos

I had my birthday meal here with a party of 17 people. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food and drinks. Our server was Victoria and she was very helpful especially with a table of so many. They were able to provide for my gluten free and vegetarian guests, the menu had so many options of these requirements,10/10 would recommend

Starters of the truffle risotto balls and potato croquettes were lovely and really enjoyed them. Really set me up for high standards for main. I tried the garlic bread with cheese someone else got on the table and was shocked at how bland it was. Next time they should just order it from Rudy's next time. It had no flavour whatsoever and didn't even taste of garlic. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my sausage gnocchi. It was unpleasant to eat and far too chewy. I think next time I'll stick to somewhere with a potato gnocchi for a lighter taste and better flavour. £16 for it as well was a kick in the teeth. I ate a couple of bites and left the rest. No one even asked me if there was any problem they just took the dish when collecting everyones plates at the end. Found that very odd... It was also unbearably cold in there and made me severely uncomfortable. I had to put my partners coat on in the end. I was still freezing. Again, no one asked me if I was alright even thought I was wearing a full coat at the table and and shivering. About 45 minutes later the heating kicked in. Thank the lord. But wasn't enough time to enjoy it as we were leaving 5 minutes later. Unfortunately wouldn't return which I find a shame because the starters were really decent. But paying the amount I had to pay for a mostly unenjoyable experience knocked me for six.

People are nice and very pleasant, the food wasn't great. A baby carbonara had so much pepper that not even I could of eat it. The sea food linguine was way too spicy and not edible.

Lovely meatballs also the wine was half price due to it being Wednesday.

We had dinner there, the food & wine were very good with a wide choice with a nice buzzy atmosphere. The staff were excellent, very attentive & looked after us really well, it's a restaurant we shall visit again on our next visit.

I booked a table for 16 to celebrate my birthday. From the first enquiry to leaving the restaurant I could not fault the service, the food and the communication I had with them beforehand. The table was upstairs so we could enjoy the atmosphere in the restaurant but at the same time there was a degree of privacy. I would certainly recommend it.

Stopped in on a rainy Saturday evening for a couple of cocktails and shared a pizza and gnocchi which were deliciousiously authentic. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely cocktails. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. Reservations recommended.

Really nice place and all the staff were lovely, ordered a margarita pizza and bruschetta as a starter, they were both amazing. Only thing Id say is my partner ordered a diavalo pizza which we’ve had before, however this time it was extremely spicy compared to how we’ve had it before. Other then that it was all amazing 😊

Went here for my 5 year anniversary and everything was perfect. The food was gorgeous, the service was the best I've had in liverpool so far, the cocktail menu was small but tasteful and delicious. To top the evening off they gave us a free dessert with happy anniversary written on the plate as a special celebration. Everything was amazing and I'll definitely be back for special occasions!

Really nice spot, been here many times as Riva or formerly as Gino’s. The food is always spot on, I would highly recommend the bruschetta gamberino, you will not be dissapointed. Really friendly staff who are very welcoming and accommodating. Great atmosphere for a restaurant, music at the right volume and distinct chatter in the background from other visitors. Food was delicious, steak really well cooked and seasoned. Look forward to my next visit.

I celebrated my birthday at Riva Blue, and I can't express how wonderful the experience was! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make the evening special for me and my family. The manager was kind and attentive, making sure every detail was perfect. They took the time to ensure we were comfortable. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was just right for our celebration. I can't thank Rae and her team enough for making my birthday so emorable. We'll definitely be returning and recommending Riva Blue to everyone we know!

Aggressive and sanctimonious attitude from the husky blond girl from the moment we were seated. The pasta was undercooked and portions are pathetic, my wife was severely sick from her meal as well. This was the worst service we've had in a long time, the two colleagues stared at us the whole time we was there smirking at us. The blond girl was extremely irate when I asked to take the service charge from the bill and raised her voice infront of other guests, she then proceeds to complain about us behind our back to a the poorly dressed italian colleague in the ill fitting suite (I mean literally behind our back, merely 3 ft away at most) This was meant to be a birthday meal with the family but frankly it was ruined and we felt nothing but uncomfortable the whole time. We will not be returning again.

Lovely Italian restaurant with a fabulously extensive, varied and authentic Italian menu! Service can be a little slow, however it's absolutely worth the wait ☺️ Friendly staff, and if it's a sunny day, sitting outside is beautiful! If you go inside the building, down to the toilets, you'll find opposite the old bank vault which is a really cool hidden secret (see video) 😎

Very nice place! I will certainly come back again. The menu is rich and makes me want to try everything. The interior is absolutely gorgeous! Absolutely my taste on decoration. I was just a little disappointed about the waitress who left me and forgot about me while I asked her to clean my chair so I could sit. I had to wait like 10 minutes up to finally have a very nice person to help me.

Rival Blu has good Italian dishes. They offer special events and discounts for Club IR, I'm in the club but I didn't get it, disappointed. Waitress - nice friend person. My order was wrong but I was too hungry to complain and wait again for so long. 2 people's lunch is like £100, we have 2 starters, 2 main, 2 drinks and water

That is the only restaurant that I would rather say. No comments. I am extremely disappointed, the food , the lack of coordination. The whole experience was rather traumatic. We waited for our food for 2:30 mins, everyone had a complaint. Absolutely not the best quality Italian as they claim. The only authenticityqqaaq are the few waiters who are Italian...

Noisy, slow, and indifferent food

Visiting from America, this set the bar far higher than a large majority of restaurants there or in the area. Some of the best food I have ever had.

I went to this restaurant twice. The first time I was very well attended to and the food was great. On the second time (June 1, 2024), I was extremely humiliated, without any exaggeration. I had a bottle of wine and then ordered my dish, which took forever to arrive. I didn't bother to complain and ordered another glass of wine while I continued to wait. I went to the bathroom and when I came back, the manager (maybe) came with the bill and told me that I had already been served and that they had even removed the dish when I went to the bathroom. At first, I thought it was some mistake until the scoundrel had the nerve to tell me that he had served me himself and that he had the camera footage, which he still hasn't sent me and never will. At the time, I shouldn't have paid for everything, just for what they served me, but I was so shocked that I ended up paying and didn't even punch him in the face, which is what he deserved because I would never do that in any establishment. To this day, I don't understand why he did that to me. It couldn't have been a mistake. I imagine he doesn't like Brazilians. I am Brazilian and I am learning English. I really don't understand, I was extremely humiliated and to this day I hold myself back from going there and smashing his face in. I hope for some feedback. I left my phone number and my email with him and he still hasn't returned my call.

The restaurant has a large capacity with an inviting cocktail bar at the entrance. The staff is courtious and attentive. It serves well prepared Italian food, so avoid ordering Caesar salad like I did, which I ate only because I was hungry. The focaccia and the mixed appetizer platter were very good, as well as the pasta and gnocchi that my friends ordered. Finally, we ordered varied desserts, all really good. The wine was overpriced.
