Excelente comida y servicio. En el lado positivo, habíamos reservado be & be.

I came here initially to eat but decided against it after waiting ages to be served at the bar for a drink. Which by the way is extortionate! There was no atmosphere and the staff seemed bored and not bothered! Funny place!

We decided to go for the three course and bottle of house wine menu which was £59 per couple. As I don't eat meat I asked for a salad for a main course which was very average (and great value for money for the restaurant). The other dish was a very large piece of steak but apparently this was tough and tasteless. We waited half an hour for our desserts - even though the place was not particularly busy, so asked for them to be delivered to our room where they turned up after another half an hour. My meringues were the rock hard, white shop-bought variety. Disappointing.

We were staying at sprowston manor and we're planning on having a meal with my parents who still live in Norwich, so rather than going out we decided to eat in, I'm glad we did. The staff were delightful, friendly and helpful. I had the scallops with black pudding bonbons which is always a good test of the chef and I have to say they were cooked perfectly, melt in the mouth. The norfolk pork combo was superb with perfectly cooked local carrots. My partner had the salmon with samphire (a Norfolk delicacy and rarity) and again it was perfectly cooked. We rarely have dessert but the menu sounded great. I actually had the chessboard with 3 huge chunks of fantastic cheeses the mousse like quality of the goats cheese was amazing. Highly recommend this place.

We ordered a bottle of Marlborough Riesling which was delicious. We ordered the slow cooked Feathered Blade Steak and the Norfolk Pork Belly and Cheek. Both meals were fantastic. We then ordered desert to be delivered to our room. We had the chocolate Orange Fondant with vanilla bean ice cream and a cream brûlée. Again both were scrumptious. The service in the restaurant was perfect until the end of our meal when we wanted to leave to go to our room and it took nearly 30 minutes to get the bill....actually I gave up and went back to our room and left my husband to deal with it. Disappointing. I will review the accommodation after our stay.

I visited sprowston manor over the weekend and was so impressed with my evening dining experience. I enjoyed 3 courses and every one of those courses was absolutely gorgeous. The waiter who looked after me and my family was so attentive and professional and I couldn't possibly have found any faults with my experience!

We arrived and waited to be seated, unfortunately there wasn't anyone available to help. After a quite a few minutes one of our party went to the bar to ask when a lady arrived and said she would show us to our table. A while later we were told that we had been seated at the wrong table and had to move. We were then told the food available was a Carvery only. Pointed in the direction of the food and left to get on with it. We decided to skip starter and go straight to main course. the carvery was hot and tasty but nothing special. The service was minimal. Plates cleared we mDe our way back to the dessert area. Choosing apple crumble found the custard jug was empty, this took quite a few minutes to sort out as there was no one around to help. Custard arrived, a well known branded type, however warmed and placed in attractive jug. The meal was pleasant but the information given was limited. Perhaps a menu giving an idea of options available, prices, etc would have been very useful. Perhaps more staff to be sure you felt comfortable with your choices?

We dined at the resturaunt 1559, on the first day of our post Engagement Celebration weekend, at Sprowston Manor. Set within the manor with nice views of the grounds, the ambience seems suitable for smart casual or formal occasions. For dinner, each night we were served primarily, by a really nice waitress Emelie and a waiter, Mauro, from Italy, who allowed us to practice our Italian. The service from the staff, was excellent as was the food and the prices seemed reasonable too. We also had breakfast here, where they offer a really good range of fruits, particularly grapes.. my favourite, a small selection of cereals, plus a hot buffet. I had an omelette each morning, where chefs Bantun made a very tasty omlette on Sunday and Darryl a perfect white veggie omelette on Monday morning. Both making the effort to include items not on the counter. One of the breakfast staff Kelly, was extremely welcoming, friendly and very accommodating, ensuring we were seated in a good location each morning and had everything we required for breakfast. Despite several requests, nothing seemed a problem for Kelly. Perfect service with a genuine smile, from the moment we arrived until we left. With such good service and food, we would definitely recommend this resturaunt and return, when visiting Norwich again.

I visited yesterday evening . If u want to dress up and dine this would be the ideal place . I tried scallop as started and cod as main meal .Wonderful food . For some reason serving took time we were there fro 19.15 to 2200. My in laws didn't enjoy the desert since the sauce was strong but I thoroughly enjoyed it . As a goodwill gesture they removed the service charge . For 4 adult and a kid , including the drink it cost £164.

Stayed at sprowston manor hotel for the night and can't fault it in service and the breakfast but I'm sad to say that the evening meal was a different matter! When my husband and I got to the desk to be seated we gave a lady our name and said we had booked for eight o'clock she turned to her colleague who's job it was to check us in but he completely blanked her and walked away she apologised and found our booking and took us to our table. We were hoping for a nice quite dinner together but where sat in and around three large very loud groups (I'm not against people being loud and happy but don't seat a couple on their own in amongst then!!) Then we found our favourite wine on the wine list only to be amazed that it was £26 I understand that a profit has to be made but don't put a wine on a wine list that a customer is going to know that they can buy two bottles for £10 in the supermarket!! I'm sad to say that buy this time we felt quite down about the time we were having we could hardly hear each other speak and our nice romantic weekend seemed to be fading fast!! The food was ok rather dry and I must say the lunch we had for £10 a head in a local pub on the broads was better!! Sorry 1559 you didn't do well!!!

I suppose some cultural differences are to be expected when travelling across the Atlantic but when I hear the term Surf and Turf I am envisioning a large Steak and Lobster. What I got was a teenie tiny steak and 1 shrimp or Prawn as they call them here - yes 1 shrimp not a half dozen or even a pair but just one lousy shrimp - and that's apparently how 1559 defines Surf and Turf. The steak was also small, if I had to guess I would say that it was maybe 4 oz. Now while we Texans eat larger cuts of meat 4 oz is small by anybody's standard. While the steak was good, it wasn't exceptional and at £24.50 it was very expensive. The fries while cooked 3 times were OK but my first one was under cooked in the middle. For dessert I had the Panna Cotta which was the best part of the meal. The service was very good and that's why I gave it 3 stars.

Very occasionally we go to Sprowston Manor for a couple of nights away. In recent years the whole hotel has been refurbished, it's one of the best examples of the Marriott Golf Resort in the U.K.The restaurant, which now delights under its new name, has been patchy in the past, although it has usually been on the good rather than the poor side. So we had booked into it for one of our evenings on this visit, and were eager to see what it was like.I am delighted to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our evening there, from start to finish the reception by the staff was good, service was efficient but very friendly, and the food was pretty good. This restaurant used to have two AA Red Rosettes, I don't know if they still have them but on the evidence of our visit it deserves them.We started with broccoli soup, and a confection of black pudding and belly pork with apple sauce. Then for mains we had sea bass fillet with Lyonnaise potatoes, and turbot fillet on lentils. To finish we had chocolate pannacotta and flourless chocolate cake with frozen berries. None of these dishes was lacking in any way. We are big fish fans, both the sea bass and particularly the turbot were delicious. Presentation of the dishes was elegant without being too fussy. This may be a hotel restaurant, but then it's a really nice hotel and the restaurant reflects this. There appear to have been some poor reviews but our experience was exactly the opposite. They have had glitches in the past but this time the experience was pretty good. Try it.

We were not intending to dine at 1559 because of the poor reviews, but decided to give it a try, after a busy day sightseeing. We were not disappointed. The service was very attentive, the staff could not have been more helpful. The food was good, and was complemented by a reasonably priced bottle of Malbec. If you are going to dine here, make sure you get a table in the room overlooking the gardens.

A strange experience, bar staff cleaning the carpet noisily with a hand carpet cleaner at peak lunchtime period with customers both in the restaurant and bar area, the bar food not quite as described on the menu with mediocre alternative, a very long wait for the food and then when it arrived it was luke warm. Really not very good. We chose 1559 rather than Sprowston Manor Zest cafe as it had more atmosphere - wish we hadn't bothered.

We had booked Sunday lunch at 2pm for a party of 6. We arrived at the restaurant to find 1 gentleman having coffee and no one else in sight (including staff). After a few minutes we were led to our table and given the menus. A young man then came to take our order for drinks and, on being asked a question, said he didn't know as he had only just arrived on duty. Surely the correct response would have been to say that he would find out the answer to our question? We then waited for at least a further 10 minutes for our order to be taken and then a further 20 minutes for our starters to be served. Considering there was just us and a couple with a baby in the restaurant this seemed excessive especially as there was no actual cooking involved with any of the starters ordered.Once our plates were cleared we waited a further 30 minutes for the main course and I think we would still have been waiting had not one of our party disappeared in search of a member of staff. When asked what had happened to our meal and what was being done about it, the aforementioned young man was surly, shrugged and said “what do you want me to do about it?”On reflection we should have left at that point as the main course was disappointing to say the least. The roast sirloin of beef was tough and the Yorkshire puddings would have rendered anyone unconscious had they been used in a fight….The boiled potatoes served with the salmon were undercooked and the vegetables underwhelming.A different young man then came out to apologise and agreed that the service and meal had been unacceptable therefore we were not expected to pay for the food. We would much rather have paid in full (with a generous tip) and enjoyed a decent meal however we have learned from our experience and will not be in a hurry to return.Sprowston Manor is a 4 star hotel but I’m afraid the food and service were nothing short of a disgrace

My Family & I had the misfortune to sample the lamb at a Wedding Breakfast at Sprowston Manor in August. It was suppose to be medium rare but was almost uncooked with a rubbery texture. As it was totally inedible we sent back the meal and asked for the lamb to be cooked "well done" but after a 20 minute wait it came back just as uncooked. By this time the plates were being cleared up for the sweets so we just went hungry. When my wife spoke to the Wedding co-ordinator she just said they 'had words' with the chef. I have NEVER in my life encountered such poor service and rubbish food.

My Partner and I stayed here recently and have to say on the website the hotel looked lovely, and as it was a birthday break away we chose the Marriot Sprowston Manor for what we thought would be a lovely relaxing break how wrong were we!!!! after arriving we soon found out that this is a predominantly GOLFING hotel and if you dont play golf then tough they cater all their service and attention to GOLFERS only!!!! we had booked the spa package and were shocked to say the least when we were ushered into what i would call the 19th hole!! bar to have our lunch!!!!!! which was extorionate prices but if your happy to pay £9.00 for a basic sandwich then I am sure that you will love it. I would suggest that you pop to sainsbury's down the road and grab a sandwich as they have more life in them more variety and a snip of the price!!!! we then went into the spa which had a lovely pool steam and sauna and a whirlpool with not many bubbles!!!!! we both opted for a wonderful massage and when we were done we were both extremley relaxed we went to our room and got ready and were looking forward to the A La Carte fine dining (FORMAL ONLY) Restaurant in the hotel. The food was ok , not much choice on the menu at all and quite plain simlar service and choice that you might well experience in your local beefeater really!!!!! but triple the price... we had just got through our main course when a group of midddle aged mouthed yobs (golfers) dressed in Jeans T-shirts one even had shorts and flip flops on entered the STRICTLY FORMAL ONLY (what a joke) restaurant and I have to say that the next 15 mins that we remained there were the worst that I have ever experienced a string of not just bad language but extreme language! [--] [--] [--] and all the rest!! they were so loud that we couldnt even here our selves speak we got up and left the table as did others dining there and waited for the so called restaurant manager to tell him of our grievance he did nothing and the deputy hotel manager arrived he did nothing and then the Director of Room Operations came and finally gave some compensation and words of apology for the fact that our evening had been ruined and that the relaxing massage was a distant memory as now our backs were well and truely up! the YOBS stayed in the bar and the language still continued well into the night and the staff did NOTHING! all of this could of been avoided had they been refused into the restaurant or if a member of staff had approached them to talk to them on behalf of everyone else to stop swearing. So i guess the moral of the story is if you like all this and consider it ENTERTAINMENT then you will have a wonderful experience I am just glad that no children were there to listen to their foul mouths that belonged in either a local spit and sawdust pub or more so in the GUTTER! safe as to say we wont be staying there again! oh I forgot to mention it is also a DOG FREINDLY HOTEL so if you dont mind being kept up all night by yapping dogs then your fine!!!!

Stopped here for a quick bite in the evening whilst passing through. Limited menu, I had pie and chips. It was hot and tasty so no complaints. I sat at a small corner table and when I went to put my bag on the floor my elbow got caught up in a whole nest of cobwebs that ran floor to ceiling. Moved to a different table and when I looked at the carpet it was glistening with slug slime! Yes you read that right!! Trails and trails of slug slime all over the carpet. I went to put my bag on the chair next to me. The chairs are covered with faded pink felt like fabric that would have been all the rage in the 70s but it was thick with long hairs all trapped in the fabric. The window sills were covered with dead flies. The bar man - am I allowed to say man in these politically correct times?? The bar person / server was however very friendly, welcoming and polite. Very depressing place, definitely needs a clean and makeover.
