Amazing service at this cute lil restaurant!! Tina managed to squeeze us in on a busy Saturday night and even ensured our food was prepared in time for us to rush off for a gig. They were very accommodating to dietary requirements and everything was delicious - I look forward to visiting again next time I’m in Margate!

Wow! What an amazing little place!! The flavours were like no other I have had before and I really love Thai food. They were fully booked but squeezed us in and it felt so homely. They really look after you and made sure my dietary requirements were for filled. I can’t wait to go back and book this time!

Starving when we arrived in Cliftonville, we stumbled into this place and were definitely not disappointed. Green curry, pad thai and garlic veg -- all first rate. Be warned: cash only.

Looks a little scruffy from the outside. The food, service and ambiance are excellent. You need to take your own alcohol and there is a handy off licence round the corner.

One of the best Thai meals I've had! The massaman I had was delicious, and we got a selection of starters that were really tasty too. The food took a while to come, but we were advised of that when we arrived, and we had a lovely table outside. They have free corkage on BYOB so we went to one of the bottle shops on Northdown Rd to get some wine to enjoy in the sunny evening. The waitress we had was so lovely, and everything was lovely, the crockery, the food, the place. Definitely do not miss this one!

Phenomenal. One of the best restaurants in the whole of Kent. Very intimate, fantastic food, served steaming hot, and very reasonably priced. Everything we had tasted sensational. Could not recommend this place enough. Bring own alcoholic beverages. You will not be disappointed. X

Consistently excellent service and superb food . While other restaurants are falling apart locally with bad service and overpricing - Mai and her team with Sue and Alice always have superb food and a smile ready . Great food and great service. We’re on a short break and came across this place. The reviews were really good so thought we’d give it a try. Bette than expected and the staff so friendly. My youngest enjoyed it so much he went and thanked the chef who in return gave him a load of sweets. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area

Terrific home cooked restaurant. Always fresh and beautifully cooked. Happy staff, friendly atmosphere. It is a small restaurant so maybe best to book and its take your own alcohol if desired.

I run a Airbnb locally in my home and my guests always love a Thai meal. The options can be vegetarian too . So everyone is happy . They are always busy and spring rolls and mains food is made fresh that day. They always fit the guests in if they can . Superior service . I don’t go anywhere else for meals now in Cliftonville . Very reasonable price for the home cooked food that is offered . I commend them. I try all the restaurants locally and most overcharge for nothing especially on Cliftonville High Street .

Visited the Bangkok Thai with friends on a Sat evening in Nov. Was greeted by a friendly waitress. We all enjoyed our curries very much. Generous portions and we were even given complimentary homemade coconut ice-cream and fresh fruit. The lovely lady owner chatted to us. We took our own wine and a fabulous evening was had by all.

Absolutely outstanding! A restaurant that makes Margate worth a visit again. Delicious food and the greatest service I've ever had. It was a pleasure to eat there, can't wait to come back.

By far the best Thai restaurant in Margate! Food is always amazing and good portion sizes. The management and staff are so friendly and welcoming makes the dining out experience even better! Take your own drink which helps keep the cost of the night down. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!!

We managed to get a table for last Saturday it’s Avery popular restaurant with the locals. We weren’t and a Thai red both were so fresh and tasty. My little boy loved the multi colored crackers. The service was amazing we will definitely return next time we are in margate

I've been in Margate since 2019, lived in Perth Australia, Koh Samui and Parma Italy and this place is one of the loveliest cosy regular restaurants I've ever visited. We are saved!! Honestly Mai is a marvellous cook... I've lived in Thailand and know a good one... and this one is a great great kitchen. It's pure Thai home cooked food. Great just great!!! My great little restaurant is open for Takeaway, just phone place your order and tell them what time you like to collect and they will try to accommodate the time. Brilliant.

The food in the place is outstanding, the staff are delightful and you may even get to meet Charlie! It is a tiny tucked away restaurant but the food is some of the best I've had, a real authentic flavour.

I will keep this review short and sweet, as much as I'd love to wax lyrical about how much I enjoyed my experience at The Bangkok. I came to this unassuming little restaurant in Cliftonville on recommendation from my older brother. Now, he is someone who I trust the tastebuds of, so I knew I was most likely to be in for a treat. I have lived round the corner from this joint for a while now, yet have only just hit it up for some grub. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely staff who gave us the options of either eating indoors or out. We decided to eat outdoors, as it was rather a hot day and both of us felt pretty over-heated at this point. Upon being seated, a member of the lovely staff talked me through the "rules" - 1-cash only 2-they don't serve alcohol but you can bring your own without being charged corkage! 3-everything is strictly cooked fresh and therefore substitutions in the recipes can be easily made (to suit your dietry requirements). Now, when I entered the establishment I have to say, I already predicted the quality of the food, just from the aromas from the kitchen that were making friends with my nostrils. Once the flavors of the garlic, chili, lemongrass, and other wonderful herbs hit my nose, I knew for sure that there would be no cheap take-away flavours here - this is going to be real authentic thai food. When I was being told the "rules", I could tell by the lady's voice and assuredness, that she had confidence in the quality of the food - something I always respect in restaurant staff. The aromas from the kitchen, plus speaking to the very kind and accommodating staff members, had me feeling very excited by this point. Let's get into, I suppose, the most important part of this review - the food! I ordered a Tom Yum soup with shrimp (classic) and a duck curry, with egg fried rice, and my dearest ordered a Tom Yum with chicken and egg fried rice. We also shared some deep-fried vegetables - incredible, with bags of flavour and wonderfully cripsy bite! However, like any 5 star restaurant would, they brought us amuse-bouche in the form of crackers and sauce, which actually turned out to be one of the higlights for me. The chili sauce was beautiful and obviously freshly made, and when I asked the chef for the recipe, she openly shared her secrets! I will now endeavour (and most likely fail) to recreate this fiery, flavoursome sauce in my own kitchen. As you can probably tell, I was very impressed by this restaurant and I probably don't need to tell you that the Tom Yum soup was 10/10 and the duck curry was beautiful - my dining partner and I agreed that this dish in particular was creamy home-cooked goodness - a breath of fresh air from the red-curry-paste, takeaway style that unfortunately plagues many so-called "Thai" restaurants today. In fact I have just finished this duck curry off at home, since I was too full to finish at the restaurant, and believe me - the flavours are just as strong cold from the fridge as they were piping hot from the kitchen! Now let me talk about the service. Unfortunately I did not get their names, however the ladies who served us our food were all equal in their excellent, friendly, personable service. I always find it heartwarming to experience restaurants such as these - genuine food, cooked by genuine people who love and care about what they do. My dining partner and I were able to speak to the chefs who cooked our food and they willingly shared the secrets of their gorgeous recipes. In fact they came out, without prompting, to ask what we thought of the food - a sign of a passionate chef who cares about the service that they are providing. In all, I think that Bangkok is sure to become a firm local favourite of mine, and I really look forward to trying what else their exotic and exciting menu has to offer. The Bangkok - a perfect marriage of excellent authentic food, and wonderful heartwarming service. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience real food with real hospitality. Lovely quaint Thai Restaurant with delicious servings. Ambient cosy atmosphere and welcoming owner. The food was really tasty. Would definitely recommend.

A little gem about a mile from Margate. Staff really nice. Make sure to book a table as it gets busy at weekends. Not open Sunday to Tuesday. Bring your own alcohol. Cash only. There are cash points close by but some are now charging per transaction.

Wonderful night . Best Thai food in Thanet we are sure. It's a bring your own drink place so that kept the prices down too. The prices are extremely reasonable and portions a good size. Service was fantastic with all food cooked fresh . We were also served free tasters and sorbet/ fruits as a thank you. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxed . It's pretty small so booking is advisable although walk ins are possible for smaller groups. We also use the place for takeaways too. The boss makes us feel very valued and we chatted to other customers like we knew them . Looking forward to trying lots of new food next time !

This was second time, we had booked but they didn't know. We were looking forward to it as our parents were told how good it was. I was very disappointed and the food was not as good. I am afraid we wont be going back.

I went to this lovely Thai restaurant last night for my birthday, I was treated to a table with happy birthday confetti and a happy birthday balloon, mai the owner had done this of her own back after my partner had told mai when he booked it was my birthday, after the starter and main which was perfect mai came out with a homemade cake with fresh berries and strawberries and coconut icecream with candles on top singing happy birthday, with all the other customers joining in, all I can say is I can not recommend this little restaurant enough, if you want a very special evening with fantastic food please try this hidden little gem, thankyou to mai and the staff for a wonderful birthday. I have been coming here for over two years but due to the bliss felt by my visits I have always forgotten to leave a review. After speaking with my partner I find myself here again and yet again, it's like coming home after a long time away. As soon as you enter you are greeted with a smile and friendly decor, a small but warm seating area with a fantastic fragrance of thai cooking. We always have the fish cakes for starters, truly sublime flavours, beef penang and sticky rice as its unlike anything ever served before and we have tried every thai restaurant in thanet, please do not take my word for it for it is out of this word delicious!!! After a few visits here we were lucky enough to meet the owner and chef, Mai, a truly wonderful woman with a heart of gold and culinary skills that match her smile, simply a phenomal human. It took so long to write this review as I am afraid it will become too popular and getting a table here will become more difficult, as hard as it is to do though, it is unfair to not let the world know of this marvellous little wonder that is the Bangkok Thai, the best thai food in thanet. We will always be back if this little gem stays the same.

I came here with friends who had heard a lot about it. We loved it, small, intimate and friendly. The owners and staff gave us a lovely welcome, we were lucky to have arrived when it had just opened as l understand it gets busy. The food is cooked from fresh and was delicious. What a way to end our weekend in Margate. Defiently a must return visit when next in the area.

over the last 9 years we have been going to The Bangkok Thai RestaurantMaybe a little small but its worth it for some great fresh Thai food cooked to orderand if you like a drink its take your own,always clean and tidy,But if i where you i would ring up and make a bookingi think if needed you could get a wheelchair in but it maybe a bit tight

I absolutely adore everything about this little restaurant. Not only is the place so quaint and intimate, but the food is absolutely incredible. Truly authentic Thai which is nice from all the other fake Thai restaurants. Mai is an absolute treasure and just tops of the experience. Thank you will be back again many times.

Regular visitor to the Bangkok Thai and it always never disappoints. Yes, the place is smaller than usual, but the atmosphere is greater than any others. there’s a great sense of connection between you and Mai (the owner) as she always comes out to check it everything is okay.

I have eaten in Thailand often. This is the nearest I've found to an authentic Thai dining experience in Kent. Real Thai ingredients cooked properly. Small space but a great atmosphere created by friendly staff and happy customers. (Take cash and a bottle). Superb value for money.

Despite all the good reviews my husband and I were not impressed. It's very dark, dated and dingy. Does not feel fresh and clean and the food was dreadful. Too salty and overdosed in fish sauce. The staff were very friendly though.

A visit to this charming restaurant made our dreary January, wonderful atmosphere and each dish an absolute delight. We will be regulars now!

Delicious food that is freshly cooked with the right size portions. Inexpensive as there is no over priced drinks as ypu take your own. Excellent evening out.

If you’ve got all night visit this restaurant, went with my partner and her family, we waited an hr for starters and 2 hrs 30 mins for the mains, terrible service, I’d never visit this restaurant again unless you got 3 to 4 hrs to wait, we arrived at 7 and got out about 11

There is so much to say that's great about this little restaurant. Fish cakes for starters were amazing, as was the Penang curry for a main, I sadly chose the lamb and mango curry as I like to try new things, which wasn't to my pallet, but the portions were so good that my partner shared her parang curry, and with the sticky rice and the most tasty pad Thai noodles, we could not finish everything. The prices are reasonable for the portions sizes and no corkage charge is a real bonus! The waitress was very accommodating for every need and very knowledgeable of all things served, don't be afraid to ask for anything. No card payments only cash but the cash machine is over the road so it's not a big problem. The final treat was a sorbet and fruit which was free! Overall it was the best dining experience I have had in a Thai restaurant in Thanet, and I have eaten in most, highly recommended by two very fussy eaters, in fact, why are you reading this still? You should be booking right now!!!

Outstanding! Food unbelievably fresh and tasty. Amazing chef working in tiny kitchen producing delicious food. The chicken, beef, Thai sausages,spring rolls are all fantastic. Restaurant is small but quirky, traditional decoration and setup. Friendly staff and service. They don't serve alcohol but you can take yours or buy at next door spirit shop and no corkage charge. Have been eating at this restaurant for years and there really is nothing that can beat it. The food is fresh, homemade and beyond delicious - especially the Thai curries which are an absolute must. Having known Mai for so long I can honestly say she is one of the most lovely, kind and welcoming people you could ever meet - and her charming personality is expressed so wonderfully in her food. A true must for anybody local or visiting the area.

Bloody brilliant! Excellent take out service, squid cooked fresh once we’d arrived to collect. Absolutely delicious. Extremely good value. We are new to the area but this will become a regular restaurant.

As we were staying locally we thought we would give this a try despite some average reviews. Very pleased we did because the food was excellent. We had a Penang curry and a Massaman curry plus a noodles dish and coconut rice for £30. They have dont have a licence so we took our own wine. The service was very good but it was a quiet Wednesday evening so no real pressure. The premises is small and the tables tightly packed so I imagine it would be hectic at the weekend. Overall it was good value for the money.

The balance of flavours in the food is incredible, really well done. S taff were friendly and welcoming too. The restaurant is very small (although bigger inside than it looks from outside), you definitely need to book in advance. Highly recommended.

We booked a table here. It's very, very small and difficult to get around this restaurant so they appear to be more popular than they actually deserve. As others have said the food is no more than average Thai food, although I guess many patrons haven't eaten real Thai food outside of Margate.

The food is very good and also gluten free, so people allergic to gluten can eat each kind of meal. The location is very nice and particular!

After reading the mixed reviews we weren't sure what to expect. However we had a lovely meal. Although it was fully booked for the evening they found a table for the two of us. The food is excellent. Cooked with care and the flavours subtle. It's a tiny restaurant so not much elbow room. Don't forget to take your wine/beer with you. Can't fault the wonderful service or the excellent value. £30 for a chicken curry, fish curry, pad Thai noodles, egg fried rice and the complementary pawn crackers. We're looking forward to going again (we'll book next time) 10 out of 10.

Open the door to be greeted by a dog! Which was running in and out of the kitchen! Staff were nice and friendly and the food wasn't horrible but also not amazing. Far best Thai restaurants within 5 minutes. Each to their own but I won't be going back.

Mi opinión personal es que la comida está bien, pero nada especial. Me he encontrado hasta ahora, restaurantes tailandeses mucho mejor en la zona. Sólo habla de la comida, el primer curso básico para cualquier lugar y parecía comercialmente comprado. Plato principal con bastante soso, cuencos de arroz que no sobras congeladas separada.
