We booked for lunch in Margate and definitely were not disappointed. The restaurant is located above an old (lovely pub) in part of The Old Town . Warm greetings from host and food was served promptly. Excellent flavour and good value for money. Would definitely return next we are in Margate and please try this for yourself.. you won't be disappointed.

Bow's is located upstairs from the bar. It is not the kind of typical thai layout you would expect. The food is good but not very traditional.

Food was beyond excellent, make sure you try the crispy pork belly. Staff fantastic, food and drinks brought out extremely promptly. The decor is lovely but it was very empty despite it being a saturday - if you want a quiet meal with brilliant food, eat here

Have visited here last 2 visits to Margate and excellent all round. Enjoyed table by the window Sunday lunchtime with great service from chap with spectacles. Food / value is fantastic. Highly recommended. Plus they bring drinks up from the pub downstairs (Guinness with a Thai - superb).

A Thai hidden gem in Margate (as it is on the second floor of a pub, and it is not clearly indicated how to get in, or even if it exists).

We were in Margate's old town and decided on Bow's Kitchen after seeing the menu outside The Wig & Pen. The restaurant is situated above the actual pub. We ordered our food, with a bit of helpful advice and it was delicious. We had Kuay Teow Kua Gai, Gaeng Massaman, amongst other items. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, the decor pleasant but the food, as said earlier, delicious!

We went to Bow's Kitchen early on a Saturday evening before going to a gig at Dreamland. It's above a pub (Wig & Pen) and although we hadn't booked we were given a table but politely told when they needed it back so booking may be advisable! The service was friendly and prompt. We shared steamed dumplings to start followed by sweet and sour prawns and stir fried prawns with cashew nuts, all of which were very good. We shared a portion of rice and both had a medium glass of wine and the bill was approximately £45. We would happily return if we were in the area.

Delicious hidden gem, packs a punch of authentic flavours that keep you coming back for more.

We had “Kuay Teow Pad Kee-Mao” with beef and “Gaeng Kiew Wan”(curry), egg fried rice, and mango sticky rice as dessert. The food was tasty and flavorful and it had the suitable amount of spiciness that invited you to have one bite after another, instead of burning your sense of tasting. Special shoutout to the egg fried rice. Such simple elements were combined so well and the Wok hei from stir-frying was on point. Mango sticky rice was average compared to our other orders, but could be worth trying if you haven’t tasted this thai dessert before.

We used Bow's Kitchen for shoot catering for a group of 40 of us. It was an all round favourite and everyone was saying how delicious it was. Tim was really accommodating and reassuring with all of our dietary requirements as well. I would highly recommend!

We were looking for somewhere to eat and someone recommended it here. It is easy to miss and above the pub.We were lucky to get a table. The restaurant is separate to the pub, but use they take drink orders for you and bring them to you. The restaurant is rather small and has a lovely atmosphere, Staff are all very attentive and know the menu and are really helpful.The food was fantastic and you can tell it's fresh and homemade..It was great value and would definitely visit again and would recommend you do too X x 10/10 well done Bow and all the staff

On our New Year break we dined twice at this fab restaurant. The food is delicious, fresh and plenty of choice. We would also like to complement the lovely team who are really friendly and helpful. I left my hat on the first visit so just had to go back to pick it up, any excuse 😉 Definitely recommend

This is an upstairs room above a pub not many tables but certainly large enough for small to larger groups, went there for a joint birthday meal with my partners youngest son. The one thing that stops this being excellent is portion sizes. The mixed starters we had two servings of this before the main course. The food was very tasty and the staff were very pleasant.

Super tasty Thai food and very friendly staff. We booked a later table of 830pm, if we were to go again(which we would) we would booked earlier so we could take time in between courses.

After reading all the good reviews I booked a table. We’re we greeted politely by a member of staff and was shown to our table. 20minutes later no one came to ask if we would like a drink. The older Thai lady I presume is the owner slammed down the cutlery on the table in pile and left. I sorted the cutlery and placed it for me and my husband neatly. 30 minutes later she came back, still no drinks order was asked. “ What do you want” with pad and pen in hand. I started to order and a member of staff came up to her and she walked off. I looked at her gob smacked as she walked away. By this time I was fed up with her attitude and just got up and left. Appalling service by her I wasn’t going to spend my money there.

The taste is so good but not the service. The waitress told us to order everything at once not to order again and again. We can’t order for everyone as we don’t know the taste or the portions. There is no reason to tell the customer like that. I understand if the whole restaurant is busy but there was only 3 tables. She should’ve known before start working.

We have had our dinner tonight at this busy restaurant. Situated at the heart of Margate old town it is one of the most popular thai restaurant at Thanet. Sumptuous food was served with cordial service. (Thanks to hardworking Jane her colleagues).

Our food was freshly cooked to order and the flavours were sensational. We were transported back to Thailand, a country we've often visited (not in the last 3 years). Mango and sticky rice sounds, easy to prepare but everything has to be just right, especially of course the mango. Bow's versión was wonderful. I wish we lived in Margate just so we could visit Bow's as a, weekly treat!

Every time I go I’m absolute devastated that it has to come to an end! I have eaten at many Thai restaurants it never once has one come close to Bow’s! She and her team are worlds apart from the competition. I’ve had take away as well as dining in and honestly it doesn’t get better than this! Sensational flavours accompanied with unbelievable service! I could live here!

Although one has to access the restaurant through the Wig & Pen pub in the Old Town, and it is on the first floor (stairs a bit steep) , it is well worth seeking out this charming restaurant. One of the best Thai meals I have ever had! We received a warm welcome. In fact, service was friendly, attentive and efficient throughout. The menu is varied and the prices reasonable. We chose the Mixed Starter - delicious! I enjoyed the Gaeng Massaman with beef. There are plenty of vegetarian options, too. Portion size is just right, in my opinion. I can highly recommend this restaurant . Unfortunately, we don't live near enough to visit often, but I look forward to returning to Margate one day and enjoying another dinner here.

Firstly, ignore the “fake news” review below this one - it’s clearly made up. I’ve been coming here for years and it’s our favourite Thai restaurant in Kent. The owner is Thai and the head chef is Thai, utilising only the freshest local ingredients with each dish cooked to order. Our favourite starters are the marinated grilled prawn, salt and chilli squid and spare ribs. This is also the only Thai restaurant I know of that offers halloumi as an alternate to the traditional chicken, prawns and beef curries. The location is at the heart of the old town, the reception always warm and welcoming from the owner Bow and it truly is authentic Thai cuisine at it’s best. There is a full and comprehensive drinks list which is sourced from the pub below meaning you have access to the full array of beers, wines and spirits , all of which are served to your table by the restaurant. Carlsberg don’t do Thai restaurants but if they did, this would be the best Thai restaurant in the world….probably!

The most terrible food experience ever. Avoid if you don't want to end up in the nearest toilet. No idea how they earned 4.5 star, most probably by writing the reviews themselves. Food was simply awful, Pad Thai - overcooked noodles mixed with burnt oil. Spring rolls- overlooked cabbage or smth unrecognisable wrapped in dry and overheated rice paper. Tea cups and pots were dirty, table sticky. Don’t even want to mention the service. They don't have a drink menu at all and simply bringing the beer and drinks from the pub below. BTW the “restaurant” is located on the first floor of an old pub so don't expect any special design or Thai vibe. Eating the “Thai” food in pub is so ridiculous like watching Monthy Python but without funny factor. Don't waste your money and time, find some better place.

I don't know how it's possible to recommend this place. Ditry table, very poor interior (only adapted old pub and that's it) small bowl of soup, which I had to add spices, cheap bag tea and noodles made on the old oil. I love Thai food and I was dissatisfied by this place and food. Not recommended.

Amazing Thai food, lovely quick service and good sized portions! I would recommend booking because it was full on the Friday night we went A bit of a funny set up above the pub but lovely to be able to have a few drinks afterwards downstairs! Also i would hope they get a few more waoting staff as the two who were there were rushed off their feet! But this didnt impact the service at all

Wonderful food. The owner is extremely friendly and runs the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to in the uk. I’m amazed how many Thai restaurants I’ve been to in London and Bow’s Kitchen wipes the floor with them all. My friend and I tried about 14 dishes while we were in Margate and each was superb, everything down to the banana fritta desserts where delicious. A gem and an example of classic dishes done flawlessly.

Came here for the 2nd time today, even better than the first. Super warm and welcoming staff, and the food was absolutely great. I had sweetcorn cakes as a starter, and the pad kee mao with halloumi for mains. On the main - no Thai place does Halloumi, its normally just veg or tofu, neither of which I like. Was surprised to see the option, but absolutely loved it. Overall, great meal. Will be eating here every time I come to Margate without fail.

Gorgeous balance of flavours, sweet, sour, spice with heat to your level. Totally recommend a visit and we will be returning. Its a come as you are and relax sort of vibe. Just loose yourself in the taste flavours of Thailand.

Pretty authentic Thai food, good portions and tastes good too. Ordered the seafood salad to start and green curry with rice for mains, and was happy with both (although waitress sent the wrong dish — red curry instead of green). While the food is decent, service could definitely be improved. We ordered two Chang beers, one of which was definitely spoilt (tasted different to the other one) and which we sent back, but the waitress insisted on charging us for it anyway. Bill was also delivered before we finished our meal, and of course the wrong main was not ideal. Would come again but hope for better service next time..

Food was quite good. Seafood salad (can't remember the actual name): generous seafood portions and great sauce, although I wish there had been more veggies to round it out. Pad Kee mao: tasty but had too little noodles. Mango sticky rice: very nice, would recommend.

Wow. We were recommended this place by two locals and they were absolutely right. Situated above a pub, Bow's Kitchen is a thai restaurant that serves the tastiest thai food. The waiting staff are hard working and lovely, and I really recommend the special, 'Weeping Tiger' (steak) if it is on offer when you visit. Definitely some of the best food we had in Margate.

Food was delicious, green and red curry and pad thai all amazing. Would like to say the young waitress managing the floor was outstanding, having to serve multiple tables on her own and running downstairs to grab the drinks for customers. Really impressed, I hope she receives our tip!

Staff dress was unprofessional two short very rule to customers on the phone about are they coming in when booked a table. Could not relax before they are in your face.

The restaurant is accessed through the pub. Once upstairs we have the most amazing tasting food supported by great staff. If you are in the area you have to try it you will not be disappointed.

Our first visit to Bow's to meet friends not seen since last year so there was plenty of talking and not much concentrating on the menu but our hostess didn't mind and was very patient while we chose our dishes. Plenty to choose from to...

Struggled to find anywhere for lunch in Margate when we visited and happened to stumble upon Bow's when walking around the centre of town. Really did not expect to find such a gem of a place above a pub! We luckily managed to get a table when it became available and we were quickly taken to a table on arrival. Honestly the best thing about the place, other than the awesome food, is the hostess her self. She was giving amazing table service and cracking jokes all the time with us. We really felt welcome and appreciated as customers and we couldn't fault it. She was teasing the members of our group that couldn't handle the heat which I personally found hilarious.We had the sharing platter selection for starters which was great for 5 people. I had the Thai Red curry which was hot but a really good level and the flavours were immense. Overall, I would say it was good value for money and probably the best Thai curry I have had in the UK. The service was great so I couldn't fault it. I would recommend to anyone visiting Margate.

Went out last week with a pal to Bow's and my goodness the standard of the food is simply outstanding. We had the mixed starter which was really delicious, yet not too big that you were stuffed - it left you wanting more. Mains were chicken, vegetables and noodles - mine very spicy and my friend's mild. Again truly delicious. To finish, banana fritters and ice cream while I had sticky toffee pudding. All washed down with an absolutely gorgeous chenin blanc. I can't praise this place highly enough! The food is amazing, the staff lovely and it's reasonably priced too!

Have missed this during lockdown as Bow’s is one of our favourite restaurants. Being above a pub it is unpretentious but it is the food we go for and am never disappointed. The Thai red curry is so flavoursome and all food cooked to order.

We turned up on the off chance and was asked if we could return in about half and hour. This was no problem as the restaurant is above a pub. I asked if they could accommodate my restrictions on food types, mainly gluten, onion and garlic. She said that she would speak to the chef and it would not be a problem. I could only have a stir fry but that was fine with me, considering I was asking them to cook without onions and garlic!! Our food was delicious, my stir fry was so tasty. The service was excellent and friendly.

This is a little hidden gem in Margate. Set above a pub you wouldn't know this was here. Lovely food and friendly welcoming staff nothing was too much. Really enjoyed our meal will be back again soon.

Bow's Kitchen was recommended to us by a couple whom we met at a restaurant.We made a reservation for Sunday Lunch (23rd Feb 2020) parking was not a problem as there is a pay and display v close to the restaurant and also free parking for an hour along the Sq. On a Sunday. The restaurant is on top of a lovely cosy pub, The Wig and Pen. The Bow's Kitchen is nice and cosy with wood panelling and a bar. Bow (the owner) welcomed us warmly. We ordered the 2 soups that were on the menu Tom Yum and Tom kha, and 3 Pad Thai noodle dishes with pork/prawn and ice cream for dessert.there were other interesting desserts on the menu too. The meal was amazing it was all made freshly and tasted divine. The best Thai food we have tasted around here. The portions were quite generous too. We will definitely return to taste the other dishes on the menu!

I came here with my husband on Valentines day for lunch. I booked ahead and warned them that I'm gluten-free. The restaurant was quiet but the decor is nice and the sun was shining through the windows. The waitress was really nice and told me that the green thai curry and rice I ordered were gluten-free. We both had curries and absolutely loved them. They were so tasty and the portion size was perfect. The service was also really quick and I assume that's because of the style of food, it was fresh and hot and tasty. I had ice cream for dessert and my husband had a waffle. It was also really reasonably priced. We cant wait to come back and will be recommending to everyone!

Having previously lived in Thailand several years ago I am happy to confirm that is the most authentic Thai cooking outside of Thailand. Everything is freshly prepared and cooked to order and always served hot. The quality of the food is excellent. Bow and her team provide a wonderful service in a relaxed, warm and welcoming environment.Looking forwards to lots more delicious delights from Bow next year
