The Back Road Pub & Restaurant in South Lanarkshire

June 2024 please note that they no longer serve food on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Revisited today March 2022. Had a meal and was delighted. Best fish I have had in ages. Cooked to perfection. Great, friendly service. Highly recommend. Last pub left in Stonehouse. 25 years ago there were at least 4 others. I am not a pub goer so cannot comment on the bar. I do occasionally go for lunch in what must be the lounge. Comfortable place to go for a meal. Always good, friendly service.

We popped in for a late lunch, wow what a lovely meal we had started with loaded nachos to share loads of cheese and salsa. The wife had scampi chips side salad, I had a lovely large haddock in batter with chips peas coleslaw great fresh food what a meal great value for the money.

Don’t let first impressions stop you! This is a lovely cute pub with very friendly and welcoming staff and locals. Our dog was made at home and the food was delicious. And to top it off, they poured an excellent pint of Guinness!

Nice place called in for drink very friendly staff and locals. Did want food but they weren't doing any can't remember if it was just that day or it was to late or they have stopped do food altogether so if your after food call first, if you just want a drink and chat great place to call.

Great wee bar and lounge. Updated review 18Aug22. Glad to see it reopen after Covid and new owners are making a decent go of it including decent food at lunchtimes. Always a friendly welcome and good service. Reasonable priced menu two course £11.99. Great beer battered fish, and steak pie was bursting with filling. Will gladly be back again (Dec 2022, just been in for lunch again. Still fantastic , steak pie was great!)

The pub pub has just recently started serving food an with a young service staff still learning their job very enthusiastic and helpful. The food was enjoyable and value for money. Will visit again

Ordered southern fried chicken burger and chips and wife ordered chilli con carne and rice. Chicken was a half sized deep fried fillet fried in batter..no southern fried coating at all..batter was quite greasy..chilli was watery and tasteless..wont be back.

Went out there way to make us a light snacks at 10pm pakora n chips n cheese and tattie skins love the place great pub great grub !!

Poppped in here for a bite to eat. Sadly they weren’t doing food. However the ladies behind the bar and the locals were extremely helpful with other places for us to eat nearby Very friendly warm and welcoming 👍

Fantastic service top notch. Roast beef was lovely, loads of it and tasty. Would have liked roast potatoes with it and veg was a little under cooked. Pudding umm not so fab. But ice cream was lovely .
