The Bach in Hackney

Very neighbourhood-y vibe. Good, extensive menu with lots of gluten-free options. The corn fritters are great, as are the eggs benedict. Service can be so-so, hence four out of five stars. They do have a garden and outdoor seating area which they could definitely advertise more (during the summer, at least).

I was quite shocked with the team at this company Thursday 10th March 2022. I had a warm friendly invite at the door whilst glancing at the menu which made me welcome to come in and take a seat. I found a Gulten free diary option of French toast on the menu which made me go ok well I haven’t had French toast in a while so to have some. I asked where to sit. The waiters were friendly and kind and showed me a nice spot to sit in. Then they asked for my order, I asked for a cuppa of tea with a coconut milk alternative and to try French toast as a gulten free option. I also asked the staff not to put any butter or diary on my food. My topping was banana, maple sauce and bacon. I asked for the bacon not to be well done. Shockingly when my food arrived the bacon was over cooked and the bread had apparently been whipped with whipped cream and normal milk. I notice the bacon burnt so asked before I touched it for them to correct this. They did then during trying my breakfast I noticed the diary on the bread so pulled them up on that to. Then I had to approached them again and correct them again. A diff ent chef spoke to me and asked if they could remake the whole thing with soya milk and I agreed since I’d sat there and gone through 3 cups of tea and the tea being cold and waiting and being there. The chef cooked the food and brought it over. It was quite yummy however the experience was spoilt, and I was scared to touch the base still. Because I ask for the service prior and because I m not seeing them make it, somehow it always gets altered to something else when I’m not looking and a problem occurs. I was charged £4.40 for the items to be dairy free and gulten free, waited longer in the restaurant and received the correct food on the third plate after and had to repeat it twice , which by then the approach to the sale of the experience and service was ruined. I sat there whilst they spoke in there home language the whole time quietly observing and didn’t complain nor was rude considering what I had gone through prior. I paid and left but I wouldn’t recommend these small private companies to people who have a preference in their foods because they do slip up a lot although they can adjust a menu to what you want more I think it’s better to stick to companies like pret, leon, and more for example. Unfortunately they cannot alter the ingredients as there menus are set and pre packed. I can suffer severely with diary because of server health issues. I’ve found that since I’ve cut out diary there’s a great improve in my health pains and digestion. I experienced a little difference in something later in the day and I don’t think it’s fair on me to be treated this way and for money to be wasted.

I went to this place as the menu had lots of Gf options, however the food is not gluten free. I made sure to say that I was a coeliac and needed gluten free. However when my food arrived I noticed the bread was the same as the normal bread and turns out my food was not gluten free. This was very upsetting especially after the chef had told me about the low risk of cross contamination while staring at my plate of gluten bread. I would give this place 0 stars if I could.

Its been a few times that I have not been impressed. Either the oat milk is watery or I have been given cows milk instead oat milk. If I had an allergy this would have been a serious issue.

Alright atmosphere here, and always good to support independent coffee shops over mega chains. Coffee is pretty average,but alright. Latte served in a drinking glass on a saucer is not cool, just weird. What's wrong with coffee in a cup?

Staff are helpful and friendly. Drinks arrived swiftly and tasted good. Coffees are a good price, but smoothies are almost £5. Very limited selection of cakes/ pastries. Free mini biscuit would go down well with a coffee. Just a thought to stand out from the other cafes in the market. Clean seating area with a very wooden, organic feel - cosy and relaxing.

Francesco and his team were extremely welcoming and the food was divine! There are plenty of options for all types of diners, whether you're vegan, veggie or love yourself some delicious bacon. I'll be back very soon for more. :)

Found this gem of a place in Broadway market. Immediately impressed by the delicious range of breakfast/brunch options, especially for vegans and veggies. We had the sourdough scrambled eggs one day, and the Bach butty the next day, great portion size for the price. Both delicious and healthy. Very cute outside dining patio, secluded and quiet. The staff clearly work really hard and are super lovely and accommodating. Coffee was delicious, great range of alternate milks. Will definitely be returning, next time may be tempted by the delicious looking baked goods on show!

I'm really surprised to have observed the blatant disregard for Social Distancing and Lockdown regulations today, by allowing several groups of customers to dine-in at your shop today, consuming drinks out of non-takeaway cups, without wearing masks, being less than 2m apart. Being new to the Hackney area, I would definitely avoid trying this shop in the future, as clearly this is irresponsibly managed.

I popped in for a lockdown takeaway of some carb-based comfort. Macaroni cheese was delicious, as was a veggie frittata and the bread pudding was absolutely divine. The staff were really friendly. My first visit but definitely not my last!

Myself and my boyfriend visited The Bach today for a takeaway lunch, having never been before and obviously not being able to sit in currently it was such a lovely experience and the food was delicious...the Vegan toastie was the best I have had. The staff were so lovely also. We will definitely be coming back :)

When living in London I used to come to The Bach all the time for their great coffee and friendly service. This little charmer also offers great full meals, pastries, and their baked goods really rise to the occasion, haha. The airy setting, solid tables and scattered electricity sockets make this a great place to get some work done, host a meeting or just have coffee with a friend. All in all, a great little spot on Broadway Market!

We caught up with our son who lives nearby and the cafe looked interesting and was doing a brisk busy trade, as we just scored somewhere to sit. We ordered the Blueberry Pancakes, Smashed Avo Toast with extra poached eggs, Banana Bread and a variety of coffee. All arrived quickly to our table and were enjoyed. I didn't need to tip, as there was a 12.5% service charge included on the bill which I could pay in cash, not like a nearby cafe that only takes payment by card.

Was going to give this place a good review as nice atmosphere and food looked good. However my food didn’t arrive and they didn’t seem that bothered . No apology offered. Fortunately I wasn’t very hungry so just cancelled my order.

3 of us went here and only two meals arrived. The waitress then said “here’s your missing food” after everyone had finished (25mins after). Insulting to say the least. No service, no apology, no attention to detail, dirty toilets; poor value for money. I won’t...

It was a beautiful morning so we thought we would give The Bach a try. Based on the New Zealand beach houses, staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere relaxed. We sat outside and enjoyed brunch. Gluten free was no problem, so I opted for their signature gf granola, berries and yogurt while my companion chose the corn fritters and halloumi. Both were good, so we would happily return.

We stumbled across this cute cafe by accident. Extremely friendly Canadian barista and amazing cappuccinos (and we are from Australia). Banana bread is also delicious (coffee comes free if you order the banana bread). Great vibes!

We bumped into this wonderful place while walking down broadway market and had a scrumptious, very fresh and crispy lunch! Stayed for a coffee.. and anther one.. and another one...! Had a good laugh with the staff and can't wait to go back again.

Lovely coffee shop with friendly staff. They have a reward card which is handy though you cannot tell what u have on it. Bonus though every now & then, they tell u you can get a free coffee which is a nice surprise :)
