Excellent home cooked beef Sunday roast. Best I have eaten out. Informal and pleasant service. Friendly locals great to watch football.

On the promenade it was deffo Pimms O'clock. Served with strawberries orange and mint. Perfect! Low prices and friendly staff. Drank as we wat hef the sea wave 🌊

Stopped here for a drink with my partner, he ordered a pint of estrella and me a soda water and they £9. They charged £3 for a soda water which is ridiculous. The gentleman clearly made it up as he went along as even the lady bar tender didnt think they charged for a soda water. Trying their luck and over charging people. Make sure you check your Bill's!

Popped there for a random Covid rules lunch on a bit of a chilly day. Understandably simple menu due to the current times but tasty, fresh and well presented. Most of all though, the staff were fantastic. They gave us lovely warm, clean blankets for the kids and made sure the heaters were all set up properly and working. Kept checking we were ok and didn’t need anything else. To keep being this positive, friendly and hospitable in really difficult circumstances deserves a real pat on the back. Thank you so much and I hope times get easier for you all soon xxx

Very racist staff and even the owner. She thinks that I want to mug her because I have sent her a message on messenger explain to her how her racist staff treat me and my family. I will advice coloured people not to go there especially with your kids. It will be a bad experience for the kids. She been in touch with me and very apologetic and the next day she was like a proper brat for £83. I told her to keep her money and I will do everything in my power to let people know what kind of treatment you will receive when you go in this crap place. Food is yuck and expensive . When you call someone the answer is WHAT DO YOU WANT. Cheap and racist staff,very very racist. Thanks

Warm friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices and great roast dinners - what's not to like I would definitely recommend this establishment and will be coming again.

First return to (Bognor and) The aviator after five years. Little change, perhaps a light makeover but a vast upgrade to the toilets. Very good and clean, well done. Quiet when we visited on a cold January weekday afternoon, so no vibe.

Popped in for a pint which soon turned into a few. Great atmosphere and the food looked really good. If you stay here make sure you visit.

Don't be put off by slightly dingy Bar area, the restaurant is light and airy with a good Selection of very well prepared food

Last night of our holiday we thought we would have fish and chips on the seafront at bognor. We were the only couple in the restaurant. The pub was very quiet. We ordered our meal. We were kept waiting, but thought at least our food would be cooked fresh. How wrong can you be! The batter on the fish was overcooked and hard, and chips were overcooked as well. The person who took our order asked if everything ok and I said the batter was very hard. The waitress came over at the end and asked, I said again it was all hard and overcooked and I left most of it. Unfortunately you pay for your meals before you get them or I would have just sent meal back and not paid.

Fantastic a great place to eat and drink I'm great position on the sea front and even have live music well sorted .

Always seem to go here on our annual Bognor visit. Food is great, reasonably priced and adds little twists into the menu. We had a sharing fish platter with extras was good and lots of it. Super location right on the seafront

My wife and I fancied fish and chips on the seafront so tried this pub.The barmaid was polite and friendly and we ordered fish and chips with samphire which we found out is a sea grass.when the food arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The fish seemed very fresh and flaky and was accompanied by a good portion of chips. The samphire was tasty also. Prices were about average for a pub thesedays. The ambience was fine all in all I would recommend.

My father and I spent the afternoon watching football here, there isn't much choice in Bognor now for watching football. We had a really good relaxed time and chatted to some nice people. The service at the bar was great and the whole atmosphere very relaxed. A good range of beer and I especially liked the aviation theme throughout the pub. Lots of people eating, which is a positive sign but I have no experience of apart from the beer and great atmosphere. Thanks we will return.

From the outside this appears at first to be two separate places but is in fact one with two different patios for some reason. Inside , there are several separate spaces including a restaurant and there are various aeronautical objects on display including the whole nose cone of an aircraft above the bar. Right opposite the esplanade and near the pier, they do decent food and real ales and a table outside in the sun can be a good place to be. This was a sunny Monday in May, what its like in the middle of August with the crowds in town might well be another thing.

For a seafront family feedbag pub, this isn't bad at all. Reasonable beer choice, pretty decent food at a good price, very friendly staff and a great location.

We ate here as we were staying in the hotel above the restaurant. It is very much a pub with food, but the food is just a bit better than you find in most pubs. The staff are friendly and if you are looking for somewhere to get good food with no fuss then look no further.

Thank goodness the Brewers Fayre was queueing out the door - otherwise we'd have never walked down the Esplanade to the Aviator.

It was a special birthday weekend for me, myself including friends and relations had Sunday roast at the Aviator, the Manager, Denise and staff looked after us very well. As there were 17 of us we were advised to pre book our roasts and im so glad we did as all our meals arrived together and they were able to sit us all on one long table. The food was lovely and reasonably priced as was the wine.Thank you for looking after us we will be back xx

What a little gem. We stumbled upon this place and used this as a base for our weekend. Great beer, great food all wrapped up with a warm atmosphere. Staff were brilliant!! Really good to find. Thanks so much for the special memories!

An average British pub in a tired seaside resort. Nothing unpleasant but nothing that makes for unforgettable memories.

We stayed for lunch as it was across the road from the beach and it was a lovely day!

We went to the Aviator for a full English breakfast one morning and for drinks on a different evening. The breakfast was great, however, because we were not guests at the hotel, we found it to be a little on the expensive side (no coffee refills!). Their selection of beers was great and we loved the old, nautical decor and general feel of the place. The service was great both times we were there -friendly and professional. Highly recommended for a late English breakfast before heading to the beach or drinks after the beach (it is literally across the road from the beach!).

Poor ordering, then had a long black hair in my meal when I showed the waitress she took my plate away but never came back with any sort of apology or would I like anything else.

This place is great in the summer, out side watching the tourists and locals on the promenade and the activities on the sea, but I was disappointed when I went to order food, it had a very small and boring menu so we got up and tried somewhere ells.

We had the beef and chicken roasts and they were both fantastic. Highly recommended! Friendly staff too.

Had a great St. Patrick's at The Aviator. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were supplied with a very tasty and free mug of Irish stew, delicious. The band were very entertaining and the atmosphere was welcoming and a fun time was had by all. Will be back.

Whole family was at nearby Butlins for weekend and wanted a Sunday roast when we walked past the aviator and saw that they were serving sunday lunch we decided to go in glad we did the food was suberb all locally sourced fresh not frozen veg and lovely thickcut beef and pork there was party of eleven of us and they quickly arranged tables to suit very polite and friendly staff would definitely recommend and when back in Bognor visit again thanks guys for a lovely meal and great service and compliments to the chef matt

Probably one of the worst meals for a long time. Started with soup and a roll... thought you only served melted butter with aspargus or lobster? Basic serving error for not using a side plate and no seperate cutlery for the wife's prawn cocktail. Tastless damp beef slices and a weird flat Yorkshire pud covering a mix of overcooked veg and so I didn't eat all of it. Wife's lamb wasn't much better. Sad thing it was Mother's day and I suppose for some it was meant to be a special meal. Bet the Mum's were to polite to say anything and perhaps the chef was having a bad day.

We are just amazed at our meal today. Beef bourgogne was stunning, with offer of chips or pasta. I cannot fault the food, nor staff. Just real food... And I mean real... From their hearts.

We (my Wife and I) went to Bognor seafront having been in a Dog Show all morning. After a brisk walk along the front we noticed 'The Aviator Bar and Grill' on the opposite of the road, and being lunchtime seemed a good place to pop into. (First we had to return the Dogs to the car.)

Really really poor. Such a shame as gents were so friendly but rude surly woman (with long blond hair) ruined the experience. No idea why this woman is front of house as she clearly is irritated by customers. Will never go back there !!

Well, how had this little gem escaped my attention being just a few minutes walk from home? I read an advert for steak night on a local community facebook page and though I'd cheer myself and hubby up with a meal on a cold dark January night.

I popped in here for lunch with my mum on 2 December and was pleasantly surprised. The barman was friendly and helpful. The wine was nice and reasonably priced. We asked to see the menu which was very limited but it was explained to us that they were between menus and if we wanted something which wasn't on there and they had the ingredients they would be more than happy to accommodate. In the end I had the steak, salad and chips. The steak was perfectly cooked and of very good quality, the salad was crisp and fresh and the chips, well they were chips! Although my mum only opted for a cheese and tomato sandwich the bread was fresh and there was plenty of filling. Nothing was too much trouble for either the waitress or the chef who was genuinely eager that we enjoyed his food and had a good experience. A very pleasant experience and great views from the front windows. They even charged my phone up for me while I ate. I would definitely recommend.

Great place to eat .fish and chips were excellent and the freshly prepared burger was also very very good. Friendly atmosphere with fabulous 1to1 service would highly recommend.

Would like to have reviewed this restaurant having eat there in the past and enjoyed the rump steak. However we were not allowed into the NO SMOKING terrace with our dog. When I informed a member of staff that we do not smoke and did not want to sit in the SMOKING terrace, we were told we could not access the terrace through the bar and as you can't access the NO Smoking terrace from the street for some unknown reason, we had no choice but to go elsewhere, Very disappointing.

Had a good couple drinks in here staff were very friendly. Loved the plane above the bar did it really crash or did it not visit to find out for yourself and have a good pint while you are there and sit out on the patio if weather permitting

Went here for lunch after a cold and breezy walk along Bognor Regis seafront. The interior was pretty quirky, a plane that crashed into the bar is still visible on the inside! ;) ;) Food was ok, we had fish and chips - which was absolutely fine, staff were pretty friendly. Worth popping your head in if you're exploring the unforgettable delights of Bognor.

Listen up! Bognor is not the major seaside resort town it once was and a lot of it is well past its sell by date. Where do you eat and/or refresh yourself. Well, believe me when I say you should head straight for the Aviator Bar and Grill on the sea front, near the pier. What a delight this place is! Forget the decor, furniture and fittings. They too are long past their best. But here is food choice that will both excite you and satisfy you. Beautifully prepared. Extraordinarily reasonably prices. Served by staff who are so obviously pleased to be there, pleased to help you enjoy your soujourn. Staff who are knowledgeable about the food they serve, the allergies that some of us suffer from and how to work the menu around them. I live about 90 minutes drive from Bognor, but this place just makes me want to go back again and again until I've exhausted the whole menu.Brilliant.

Basic pub, cheap and (maybe) cheerful. Might be better in the summer months but rather drab in the winter.

Excellent place to eat and relax , food is great and plenty of it . The staff are polite and friendly , the prices are competitive and with views of the front what more could you want . Oh and it is better than Wetherspoons !

Me and 2 friends had been looking around the town for something too eat, after we were appalled by the wetherspoons in town we looked elsewhere,we stumbled across the aviator bar and grill and were welcomed by a gentlemen and immediately felt comfortable, we were shown too a seating area that was lay out beautifully, we ordered drinks and food then took a little stroll through the venue which was immaculate. The food had arrived 2 plates of fajitas and a hunters chicken for myself. It was the nicest meal I've had since moving too the area. The gentlemen were both very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Overall my favourite place too visit!

we arranged drinks here after my Dads funeral, Staff were amazing they went above and beyond and made this sad occasion stress free and very professional. I was pleased to hear upon arrival at around 1430, that food was served all day. In the past I have had some really nice food here, by myself or with friends. The service was really good from the outset and I looked at the varied lunchtime and Pizza menu with genuine interest. I went for the Chicken Fajita option. It arrived with good service and very prompt..perhaps a bit too prompt in hindsight. The plate was huge! A massive pile of chicken, peppers and onion together, then a portion of cheese, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos and of course some wraps.I contemplated calling my partner and asking her to come and help me out,as the portions were so generous. The plate looked really nice, but as soon as I had a piece of the chicken, all i could taste was salt. I thought perhaps, when I balanced it all out in the wrap it would work, sadly it did not. After a single wrap, I just realised It was not going to happen. By the presentation, the staff here clearly have cooking skills, so i was at a bit of a loss. I was just going to leave, but was asked by a helpful member of staff and upon being told, he investigated it for me. After being told that there had been no salt added into the mix and that the kitchen staff felt it was well cooked, I was offered a full refund, which i declined. The reason I declined, is because I wanted the staff to know how disappointed I was after such lovely visits in the past. I think the Chef, just put too much Fajita seasoning in and did not cook it through properly.I might go again, but not before I see friends have done here recently, in the interim if asked I will have to share my experience.

Came for lunch, took a while to order as the bar-tender assumed I wasn't ordering food for a good ten minutes despite asking for it, waited an average time for food however when it came out (fish pie and veg) the veg was dry and overcooked, I asked for gravy but wasn't given any as it was only 'given on Sundays' despite them having it in. Overall, overpriced for the service and food provided.

Turned up Sunday at 7:30, met by very friendly staff, offered us the the Friday steak special, and offered to change the drinks package with our meal. Great menu choices, food came out after 10 minutes and everyone's meal in the party of 6 came out cooked to perfection, chips came out separate, very nice staff. Can't fault anything about the place, would defiantly return. Keep up the good work.

Came here with a group of 16 people ranging from4 to 70+ years old.Good range of food and it was all delivered in a reasonable time considering the amount in our group. Including drinks bill came to around £180 so at just over £11 represents good value. Good portions and nice flavours to all meals. The outdoor non smoking terrace was great as was the service. Excellent views across to the beach and horizon beyond.

Very good fresh food. Staff very busy and conscientious, but some of them a bit busy to even have a conversation with you. popular place with the drinkers and good if you're just there to eat and drink, but don't let them talk you into staying in the rooms upstairs unless your standards are low.. .

On the 24th July my wife and I were in Bognor Regis and we came across the Aviator bar & Grill. We decided to have a Sunday lunch and so my wife ordered the Roast Beef and I had the Roast Pork. The place had a few people inside and a few out on the terrace.Not many eating though. It then appeared that there were only three people working front of house and that included the Bar staff. We sat and waited for half an hour then asked about the meal. All very polite and then it suddenly appeared. The pork was very good and although I do not like hard veg, it was quite nice. My wife mentioned the the beef was a bit chewy , the gravy was cool and lumpy. For dessert we ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding for £4.95p which was excellent and nicely laid out on the dish. The whole dinner cost £25.00 plus the pudding. I do think that they should try to get more staff as it does not seem right to have to serve on the bar and do the waiting too. If it gets really busy then how can they cope. Summary:Price wise quite good value for moneyQuality of food : Medium to good.Service: Could be improved . But we still had a nice meal and we pass our thanks to the hardworking staff & owners.

We visited this pub as we had been told of its history involving an alleged emergency landing by someone who mistook Bognor Pier for Goodwood airfield......hmmmmmm! No evidence that this is true!

6 of us have just been here, had a mix of meals, roast dinner, fish and chips, ham, egg and chips, spaghetti bolognaise and a sandwich. Each meal was lovely! Roast was to die for. Shame we found it on the last day of our holiday otherwise definitely would of eaten here everyday. Would definitely recommend!

Visited a lot of times over the last couple of years. Food was always good pleasant bar staff. Good outside terrace overlooking the sea. visited friday 17th june. was dissapointed. Food wasn,t as good pizza slightly burnt. Barman told the four of us that they would be closing soon this was 21.50. My partner asked politely why they were closing so early? The reply was they had been a bit quite today. There were other people in the bar not many i admit. As we left i believe there was resident guests being served & some young guys playing pool. It put us off visiting on saturday night. We returned sunday lunchtime the food was excellent. If i ran the bar the person that closed it early on friday night would get a serious talking too. There may not have been many of us but we would have spent at least another £40. We would have returned saturday & spent more. Not a good way to run a bar especially with so many closing permanently. We were not badly behaved or drunk we are all in our late forties. I will return just thought that needed mentioning.

On a cold March day, when the sun came out we sat outside on the seafront terrace with a pint, but going inside for a very good Sunday roast. Quirky venue with different areas, we sat in the bar area near the aircraft. The food took about 30 mins to arrive but was very good when it did.

Attended over the bank holiday weekend.. when asked about the range of Rosé wine, there was one and when asked if a small sample can be tasted, from the look of incredulity you'd have thought we'd asked for an elephants ear in a bun, what is common if our local seems unheard of here. When I paid with card and happy to pay the £10 minimum for the two drinks, the muttering from one member of staff seemed bearly concealed contempt. That said, the location is good and some ingenuity in the decor.. but come on Bognor you can be so much better than this.

Thought I'd give it another try, since new people seem to be running it. Most impressed. Stunning food, very friendly staff. Made incredibly welcome, and didn't feel like was being hurried, even though it was quite busy. Would definitely recommend a visit, and I will certainly be returning.

Mislead by the board advertising Sunday Lunches we headed inside to order.In fact at 12:15 on a Sunday they only had pork (run out of beef and chicken apparently) and our enquiry about a vegetarian option was met with "we only cook enough to accompany the meat". Staff didn't seem too concerned either.Obviously can't comment on the food as, understandably, we left.

Went in there for its publicised "nice roasts". Turned up at 12:20 and there was only pork on offer. We asked about a veg option and was told that the only veg was for the meat dishes. Lots of people had the same reaction to us, we walked out.

We visited today sunday and had a roast dinner, the food was fresh and well cooked, the place is friendly and staff very nice. We were there 3 hours and felt so comfortable. And the bonus my little dog was welcome and given sausages. Well worth a visit.with a view of the sea

We came in here to eat and recover from our hangovers. Lovely and clean with welcoming staff. We had the fish and chips. The fish was out of this world with a lovely,tasty light batter.

On a recent trip to Butlins , found this pub along the seafront popped in for a drink and an evening meal , Nice friendly atmosphere and approachable staff , good selection of largers and the menu had a good choice something for everyone . I had the burger and chips and my friend opted for the lasagne both came out without much delay not many people eating in the resturant though but it was early . Didn't really stay that long as had to be somewhere else but the pub was filling up when we left . They did have a large tv in the corner which I remember watching a football game there the year before . Would recommend this pub if your looking for a quiet drink and a nice meal

Hotel rooms are nice and if you want sea front it is in an excellent spot. 2 nice patios to sit outside in nice weather! Good food and interesting decor! Always enjoy being here!

I've been going to the Aviator Bar and Grill for around 5 years, with new management who have transformed the bar with a great refurbishment and new staff I can safely say it's my favourite bar.Landlord and lady are very friendly and interesting to talk with, staff are also friendly, I've frequented the bar in the evening with friends (4 blokes mid 20-30s) and had a good and trouble free night, they show sports events when on too.The atmosphere there is very pleasant and I'd take a date there quite confidently.Also during the day it is a lovely place, situated on the sea front overlooking the pier and sea it's delightful in summer.Food is great, very well made burgers with good meat and nice chips.Overall a very well rounded bar and café which I easily rate 5⭐

We had dinner here and although dinner was really nice one of us found a piece of plastic in the food this was reported to the waiter and what was said was it must have flown in there or something not really the thing you want to here after just eating the meal, nothing was offered like complimentary drink, which would be normal to do as I come from a restaurant background myself, the matter was simply ignored, it took for myself to go and find the waiter before leaving at the end of are meal to ask if there was any thing they could do, I was told the manager said you could have a free drink but they knew we where about to pay the bill and leave I thought this was not really up to it as we had been ignored about the situation, I went to find the waiter that had reported it to, as I was waiting to speak to her a lady from the bar come over and snapped at her to come and talk to her about it, when I got to the bar she had been rude to my friend and was very snappy, they were asking me what sort of plastic was it etc I see no need for that, if there was plastic in the food what does it matter! I got the impression they where trying to say we had put it in there or making it up, even though the waiter saw it. I feel they had very poor customer service and were very rude about the situation.

Eight of us popped in here, just for a drink on Saturday lunch time. Plently of room in the garden, just would have been nice if the hedge was a little lower. Got chatting over another drink and ended up having lunch, just sandwiches and another drink in the sunshine - but most enjoyable thank you

Whilst in Bognor last week, my wife and I called here for a beer and a snack, and after a very warm welcome we were shown the menu. Having ordered our drinks, soon after the food arrived, well presented and very tasty and good value for money. I had prawn sandwiches and my wife had salmon, both generous sized portions well presented.

We came in early for dinner but were politely welcomed by the nice-looking girls at the bar. We decided to sit inside because of the cool weather. The kitchen started for us and then we were served with a copious portion of deep-fried and battered cod, cooked just right.The restaurant is supposed to be decorated with early aviation years memorabilia, but it is far from looking like a museum. Real aviators may be disappointed, but anyway that's not the purpose of this place.

Went for lunch with the family (2a, 1x3yo and 1 x pensioner) and had an enjoyable lunch with a sea view in an aviation themed diner.Ordered 2 x fresh fish and chips, tuna sandwich and fries and a children's meal.The fish lunches were huge and fresh and served on pretend newspaper for effect, the side fries for the sandwich were served in a mini chip fryer and the lunch was enjoyable.3 adults plus 1 child's meal, juices and hot drinks = £35.Friendly service, great view and fresh fish.

The Aviator bar and grill over looks the seafront at Bognor Regis.. my wife and i took my Brother in law and his wife for a meal there. It was very good indeed, the staff were great, friendly, and polite.The meal was outstanding. well cooked and the presentation was like something out of a topLondon Restaurant. For a small bar and Grill I recommend you try it if you are ever in Bognor.

Stayed one night in hotel. Good room with brilliant sea views. Shower was great. It was a really cold night but room was really warm. Had a lovely meal in restaurant, chef makes excellent sauces. We met up with friends after dinner, the pub had a band playing who were good. Had a good evening. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Rob and Lisa are very attentive and make sure that you are happy with everything. Had breakfast in morning, best eggs benedict ever. Will definately stay again.

We were visiting Bognor on business and we were looking for a nice place for lunch prior to an appointment we had in the area. We chose The Aviator based on the comments we read on Trip Advisor. Sadly we don't agree with them. We arrived promptly at 12:00 and were the first people in the restaurant. We gave our order to the waitress who insisted on addressing us as "me lovlies" throughout! I ordered plaice on the bone with vegetables and wedges. My partner ordered beefburger with salad and chips. The meal took 40 minutes to arrive. My plaice was dry and overcooked - it certainly didn't taste like a freshly cooked piece of fish, the wedges were also overcooked and the vegetables were absolutely terrible, watery, cooked almost to nothing and obviously microwaved. The beefburger was ok, but it was served with a pretty basic salad which lacked any form of dressing.We didn't find the place particularly relaxing. The decor was very "busy" with notices pinned everywhere advertising wine, offers on food, etc. So many different notices it was difficult to take it all in!Despite the good view this is not a place we would choose to visit again and it certainly did not merit the ratings we had read about.

Great looking pub with stunning views! Perfect for a Sunday lunch with a nice chilled atmosphere! They have really paid attention to detail here and you can tell the chef really puts effort into the food! It's a good place to spend an evening with a good selection of wine, the house White was the nicest I've had and the glasses were sparkling!!

We visited this place for desserts and coffee. I has sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which was lovely and my husband and daughters had the fudge cake. Was a nice place. Would go back for the roast which looked lovely.

Welcoming and friendly staff greet you in arrival. Bar and restaurant are relaxed and well decorated. Food is great and well presented too, with a choice of 2 menus plus a specials board. Mini Prosecco bottles are a must!

Two companions and I had lunch here on Sunday 26th October; can only say that it was excellent. It was well cooked, tasty, with large portions at a reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the decor pleasant. Couldn't fault it in any way. Will definitely come here again if in the area.

This was are second choice due to the first restaurant wouldn't let us have a child's meal.Anyway it turns out this bar/grill was a much better choice fast friendly service, good hot food and reasonably priced

My husband and I have popped into the Aviator bar and grill a number of times now for lunch. The pizzas are superb. I haven't ordered anything else yet, as I love the pizzas so much, the food on other peoples plates always looks good though. One are of the terrace is undercover and has glass screens so it's nice to be able to sit out on those cold spring or autumn days. A friend of mine stayed at the hotel (Carlton) and I had a look at the rooms before including details with my wedding invites and they were spotless. The owners have put a lot of effort into refurbishing the place over the last few years and the new planting this year is lovely
