The Auld Mill House Hotel Bar & Restaurant in Fife

This is a lovely clean, quiet hotel set in a quiet area off the main road. Walking distance from Train Station and about 40 minute train journey to centre of Edinburgh. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Owner very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful helpful. Our room was very nice, bed comfy. Slept well. Ensuite really nice too. All in all a great find

Had a fantastic weekend at the Auld Mill. Beautiful accommodation, excellent and friendly host, great bar prices. The breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be going again. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you Allan and Brent

was here a while back service and food were terrible, toilets were flithy, some staff not nice which turned out to be the owners, wouldn't let my dog go there

Stayed for 1 night. Hosts were delightful and very hospitable. Hearty big breakfast and reasonable bar prices. Close walking distance to shops and eateries. Would stay again

Im ganzen Gebäude war es sehr kalt. Das Fenster ist total undicht. Der Frühstücksraum hat 0 Ambiente. Das Personal ist bemüht, kommt aber etwas lumpig daher.

My husband and I stayed at the Auld mill thinking there was a restaurant as advertised. We had a 5 hour drive to get there from our home only to find there was no restaurant we were very disappointed because we then had to find somewhere to eat. The room was small but clean nice comfy bed breakfast was ok.

Clean and tidy hotel room, the staff were also very nice and welcoming. The only down side is the walls are quite thin and could hear a lot of what was going on outside or in the rooms beside. The shower was awful, definitely need to do something about that. Such a bad design. Overall you get what you pay for, so it’s not so bad if you think of that. Definitely room for improvements.

Stayed two nights here, very comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly, tea/coffee in room. Continental breakfast, good selection of cereals, cooked breakfast available if required. Lovely setting away from busy main road.

Stayed one night and price was really cheap so I suppose I did get value for money but didn't return on second work trip and instead decided to pay nearly twice the amount somewhere else. I didn't like the quiet road down to the hotel and on arriving there deserted. The person on reception was however very friendly and professional. I was shown to my room which was adequate and appeared clean with towels on bed in a nice display. My door didn't feel very safe and I ended up placing one of the single beds across the door. The television control did not work and I managed to reach up to switch onto standby but couldn't get any channels. I didn't really want to venture out of my room so instead did without the TV. Shower room was in need of a refurbished as some broken tiles and very tired looking. I didn't have breakfast but think this was o my continental as had been to!d the restaurant was closed. I could hear people walking to rooms later at night and even heard someone snoring through the walls. I think the hotel is up for sale and perhaps the reason that no restaurant was open and no atmosphere to the p!ace. It was certainly value for money and nothing awful about it but I personally wouldn't return.

Se trata de una casa rural, discreta en sus instalaciones, aunque la cama es grande, amplia y muy confortable. Desayuno inglés completo, que se elabora una vez sentados en la mesa, y donde se puede repetir sin problema alguno. Propietarios muy amables. Recomendable si se viaja sin prisas, pues está un poco a trasmano de las vías más usuales. Precio medio.

After another recent stay we can't recommend this hotel enough, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the rooms were spotlessly clean and the breakfast fresh and cooked to order. Fantastic! We will be back soon.

I cannot believe some of the negative reviews of this perfectly quaint, well positioned, well run establishment. It was a short walk from the Train Station which you could easily reach Edinburgh from and not too far from the bars and restaurants of Dunfermline. The Hotel itself was clean, well decorated, well kept and very comfortable. It is managed by somebody who clearly cares about the business and its guests. The gentleman seems to run it completely by himself aside from a few other members of staff and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay......

I have stayed here a few times and there hasn't been an evening menu to be seen. I believe they no longer cook in the evenings.

Stayed here one night on arriving expected to see lovely hanging baskets and flower beds. As advertised on web site no flowers or plants in sight supposed to be a restraunt ask if any food at 6 30 girl said I will go see came back and said we could have toastie. Or sandwich we got 3 toasties 2 small bowls of chips 25 pounds day light robbery will not be going back

Had made a reservation for the restaurant. Arrived just before the booked time to be told, very causually, that the restaurant still wasn't set up for us. Not acceptable when we had booked (and arranged baby sitters). Ended up having meal in the bar area as the 'hostess' didn't seam too bothered to get the restaurant area ready for dinners. Food arrived after a resonable wait and was ... ok. It certainly did not match the price. Expensive for the simplistic food they served! Staff seam ready to pick a fight with guests and do not make you feel at all comfortable. A very spoilt birthday.

Fui con un grupo de 4 amigos y todos estábamos de acuerdo con esta crítica. La carretera hacia el lugar real era horrible caídas con árboles, enormes baches y dejar muy peligrosa que no estaba vallado. El comedor estaba vacío y ya había establecido para el desayuno! La comida estaba muy bien preparada, sin embargo esperamos bien más de media hora antes de ser servido. Entiendo que estaba recién preparados, pero como no había mucha variedad en el menú creo que podría salir más rápido. Nos hicieron sentir el plato de pollo era preciosa, pero con sólo una cucharada de vegetales y unas patatas fritas al lado del plato parecía un poco vacío. Los dulces eran bonitas pero de nuevo significa porción tamaño. No había pan y mantequilla en la mesa aunque una jarra de agua helada. No había nada de ambiente. una vieja cinta de Los escarabajos tocaba de fondo y nunca vimos un alma durante nuestra comida que nos llevó más de 2 horas para un plato principal y un dulce. Nos costó £11,00 por supuesto main y £5.00 por dulce que está bien, pero hemos cenado en muchos lugares con mejor comida por menos dinero.

Was in for a meal everything was exceptional and great value. Will be back, the food was homemade comforts and me and my partner had an enjoyable evening shall be back very soon thats all that needs to be said

We went here one Saturday evening 4 adults and 2 children there was no kids menu so asked if they could even do a sausage for a wee boy this was met with bad attitude. Fillet steaks were £23 we ordered 3 meals of these there was to be 1 medium and 2 med rare they all came out well done. The kitchen staff approached the table very argumentative raising her voice saying they were cooked by her prob but our complaint was they were all well done why ask how you want a steak if they are going to be the same. We were seated just outside the kitchen the cook was arguing about our complaint and being aggresive inside kitchen to which my children could here. She then had my daughter in tears by saying she was going to call the police the attitude towards our party was unexeptable and once we were leaving the cook again approached us at the door and argued. I personally was very dissapointed by the professionalism of this badly run establishment and will never go back i feel very cheated at having to pay over £100 for a meal that went in the bin and upset children in the process.
