The Ashgrove in Redbridge

This pub used to be called the ashgrove , its now called the central.it's not a pub anymore ,its solely an Indian restaurant. You have to book according to one the waiters. One of the waiters was very rude and abrupt he's name was kertan , he didn't have a name badge on which he should.ordered drinks and the order was incorrect. The coke had the syrup missing from the machine. The food was too too hot and the nan breads too dry. It's expensive for what it is . If the owner is reading this turn one side back into a pub and leave the other side into a restaurant. The food was to o hot and the customer should be asked if they'd prefer there food hot medium or home style. This place isn't BYOB which let's itself down too. Better customer focus from the waiters is needed and from the chef.

Rubbish food. We ordered mix grill alongside our normal beers while watching our match. The platter food was all cold and on top the price asked for it £18 was ridiculous. We had to leave the food as it ut and didn't even enjoy it atall. I will never recommend this place to any one. Definitely not returning.

This is by far the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Upon arrival we were told there was dress code. However, when I booked the table I was not made aware of the dress code on Friday and Saturday evenings. The food took ages to arrive I was waiting approx an hour for my main meal. Before I ordered my main meal I specifically asked the waitress if the curry I was ordering was spicy/ had any spice init. I ordered the butter chicken. She informed me it was not. When my food arrived I was unable to eat it, due to the excessive spice. My friends ordered the chicken tia masala this also had an excessive amount of spice in. The food was not enjoyable due to the ridiculous amount of spice in it. Please note i made it very clear to the waitress when taking my order i did not want any spice in my curry. The food is ridiculously over priced for the portions you get! The most expensive curry restaurant I have ever been to. The food is completely average. I could not get over the price of the total bill. My friend found 2 beard hairs in his meal in the starter and main meal curry. I was absolutely disgusted. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant. I was very disappointed with the food and I will most definitely not be returning or recommending.

Wow, the food here is amazing, the chilli paneer, indo paneer, samosas, dhal, naan and chicken curry it so amazing. The restaurant is spacious and suited our family in the private area at the back. Well done it’s so good to taste traditional flavours like this!!! It’s a must you have to try this!!

Real authentic flavoursome food, the waitress was informative and knowledgeable and advised us on spice levels (hotter the better ) and we had a great meal,decor wise it's not the most attractive place and looks a little tired but dont let that put you off

did a take away some time ago, the staff was rude, would not accept a debit card payment as the card is registered elsewhere and not the house the food was being delivered to. The order came late with food missing and it was cold. management did not care

We've heard nice things about this restaurant pub from a friend and they were correct. Tasty food, freshly prepared, generous portions and reasonably priced. The service was also friendly. We've found our new local Indian and will definitely visit again.

Everything about the food is amazing. Takes long because they are busy, not quite, like like a pub with tablets for the eating area. You order at table, they bring bill so not like a weatherspoons. But man, this beats all Indian restaurants. Halal too so my friend is happy whilst I eat and have a pint! Love you guys, my new found place 😍

Lovely food with great taste, it still feels like your in a pub even though the restaurant is separated away to the corner, so it’s okay on quite times but Friday and Weekends can be rather loud, and you have the noise of the drunks at the bar who can get quite loud. for a quite meal I recommend quite day times, if your not fussed and prefer the pub style with great tasting Indian food, you’ll love it. We visited with our 9 month old and to be honest wasn’t great with all that noise in the background. So I wouldn’t come with my child again unless it’s a quite day time visit.

Me and my family have been regular customers here for ages! After not going for around 5 months we decided to go back to celebrate my dads new job. We were extremely disappointed to find that the portion sizes had decreased drastically but were still the same price. The meat mixed grilled was nearly £18, which is the same as what it was before but it had hardly anything on the plate! Not only that, all of the curries were small and had weird after tastes! The aubergine curry had a bitter taste and the food was appaulling. Clearly they are trying to cut costs and make money! The staff have all changed and were pretty much useless as they continued to get our drinks wrong. The food took ages and we were just so unhappy with the whole experience. Considering we were regular customers we won’t be going back here again. No way! RIP OFF!!!

I had always heard good things about this restaurant and was keen to try it out. I was on a bit of a flying visit, so only had time to order a few starters. I went for the flat tandoori chicken wings and lamb chilli dry-fry, both dishes were phenomenal. I only wish I had time to indulge in other options from the menu.

I live in Ilford and we’ve always struggled to find good indian restaurants with good quality indo Chinese Indian food. Ashgrove was just what I have been looking for, loved the mushrooms, paneer, mogo...similar to the kind which is readily available in north west London, now in east London! Thank you to Himanshu, who was super attentive and friendly and catered to our large group that was ordering more dishes throughout the meal!

I ordered take away today and the food was exceptionally good. It was tasty, pipping hot and it arrived within half hour. Lynish the manager was very helpful. I would like to thank ashgrove staff for wonderful service. I will definitely order food from ashgrove again. Nisha

Great place, good value and food is always consistently tasy. It can range from a nice formal meal to casual nibbles at the bar. Offers the residents in the area a great place to go.

This has now become our family favourite and we are slowly becoming regularly faces to the team at Ashgrove! The food is outstanding and the service is bespoke to each individual. They add a personal touch each and every time and the guys like Sanj, Gaurav and Manish really know how to look after their guests!

It is advisable to book a table to avoid disappointment, the atmosphere is good with friendly staff. All major sports shown currently "World Cup Football". If you are looking for quiet place for a meal then this place is not for you. If you don't like too spicy or hot food specify when ordering that you like to have your food mild. there is a large selection of Veg & Non Veg. Recommend for starters their chilly chicken; kebabs; chicken tikka & Jeera chicken. There is a large selection of main courses but specify if like it hot or mild!

Good environment, good staff and lovely food. The food is well cooked and they have a variety of different choices.

The food was generally okay. There are some dishes that are absolutely amazing in terms of flavours and others that just aren't worth being put on the menu in the first place. The service was good and the waitress was attentive but it was the kitchen that took far too long to get the food out. It wasn't even that busy on a Sunday evening anyways...but my cousin and I don't drink so we ordered some mocktails and they were a bit vile if you ask me. I then wanted to order a mocha and when I asked the waiter he simply said no we don't do mochas when it CLEARLY says on the menu that they provide it as a hot drink. I then asked the other waitress yes we can...? Generally, I would only come here again to eat the foods I liked...not a good place for mocktails/cocktails..only for beers/wines.

Visited as a group of 5. It's not too far from Seven Kings station and there is ample parking for those who drive. The menu is varied enough to provide plenty of options for vegetarians. We had a mixture of starters and I would recommend the Indo Chinese Paneer, and Chilli Garlic Mushrooms. The bullet naan is really good if you like chillies. During our visit we accidentally spilt a whole pint of beer, and staff were excellent at dealing with it. The mess was cleared up and pint replaced within a few minutes, it was like a F1 pit stop crew! Really good experience all round.

One of many fabulous places to eat in London Essex, this place is perfect for afternoon drinks and delicious food for family and friends very busy so do book for large groups. Children friendly and if you want to watch football then this place has that too.

Took a take away out one evening, a few months ago and enjoyed every single item we ordered. Their veg biryani is moist and full of flavours. In fact it's the best in town.

I haven't been to TA for over 5 years and it has changed dramatically from my last visit. From what was an old, dated local pub, it has changed into a clean, modern and bright venue. We went to watch the big Boxing match and it was extremely busy. With lots of men circulating around tables and tv screens. We were sat at a table, which now offers food and table service, which is completely new and nice to see. We ordered lots of different items from the menu, which is Indian. A good selection of grills, naans and curries. The food looked good and service was good considering it was so busy and difficult to move. I would come back again, as I'd like to experience it without the big sporting event. Generally an average-good experience.

The Ashgrove is a nice pub with a restaurant attached. We decided to try this place on a Friday night. Plenty of parking at or near this place. First when we went in we were greeted and seated. That was nice. We ordered several dishes and drinks over two hours. Food was average, however service was good, and always attentive. Most of the clientele were men in the pub and restaurant, not sure if that is the norm. Overall I think this place is worth a visit, It is not cheap over several hours of food and drink.

If you want to watch the cricket or football with your mates,this it. food is good and fresh and a full bar is on hand.we watched all the champions league matches here.excellent family atmosphere.

we had a girls night out for birthday/Christmas.The food was excellent (as always) the service was good and the staff lovely it is a bit of a mans bar but we did not feel uncomfortable at being the only all ladies table, there were a few families there also and the boxing was on the Telly!! lovely that the owner came and checked in on us and the prices are so good here there were 5 of us having starters mains and drinks including a round of cocktails and a bottle of Fizzy worked out at £30 per head including generous tip I would highly recommend The Ash Grove

Had a very enjoyable evening at this place. There were 5 of us and one was a veggie. We ordered the veggie and meat platters for starters, to be honest We didn't enjoy the lamb pieces in the platter (Personal choice). All the other bits incl the veg starters were delicious. For main we had methi chicken and Lamb curry which was lovely.

This is one of the best places around Ilford I have been so far. Service is always good. Food is very good and spicy. I am South Indian from Andhra . This is a restaurant where I don't need to ask them to make it spicy , so you can imagine . They make it damn good

The food is really good and is reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. It was served piping hot and in a timely manner. Every detail and request were gladly met with. The service was great as well and even though they were short handed, they gave us no reason at all to complain. Would definitely go again and would gladly recommend them!

My little 1 turned 1 and we thought we will try this place our. My friends recommended it and the reviews are very flattering. From arrival it was a really nice experience, they served our food and took orders efficiently. I'd recommend the mixed grill starter very mouth watering. As you can imagine with little 1s we weren't the most quiet of tables but the waiters didn't mind but instead brought out complimentary ice cream for my niece who was having a tantrum. At the end the bull was reasonable and the waiters brought out a complimentary cake for my baby which was a nice touch. Very family friendly and will be visiting again

We booked at The Ashgrove for family Diwali celebration for 30 people. Absolutely brilliant service we had from Manish and team from arranging the menu to excellent service when we all got there. Everybody enjoyed the food, veg and non-veg dishes all lovely...plus we had live music together with fireworks (being lit by someone on the streets).. Everybody enjoyed thoroughly and will be definitely going again.. Simply Excellent ....

i am a vegetarian and the food is absolutely delicious especially the paneer dishes. every dish that was put into my mouth i couldn't even think of one complaint that could have been made. every dish was at Michelin star quality and for everyday normal prices. it also has a magnificent atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. it is now my absolute favourite restaurant and i am looking forward to taking my friends, family, work colleagues and doing special events there. thank you for the brilliant food and the brilliant experience.

I am a VEGETARIAN, for RELIGIOUS purposes. Today I accidentally put meat into my mouth because I was told that it was Paneer (indian cheese type dish). I asked the waiter twice and he confirmed it was vegetarian. It's only when I chewed it, I knew it wasn't. I spat it out, washed out my mouth and asked to speak to the manager. After telling what had happened, he simply apologised and responded 'it's a human error, what can I do'. What kind of a response is that!....A STUPID ONE. I had to leave as I felt I may do something which I would later regret.I will never go to your restaurant again!

Came back to this wonderful establishment for an unexpected visit with friends and was definitely not disappointed, from the fabulous service to the mouth watering delights presented to us. We were made very welcome, even though it has been some time since we visited ( wish we lived nearer). As you know I have to becareful with spice in my diet however nothing was a problem as my dishes were made to perfection and presented beautifully. Would like to thank the chefs and all the staff for the fabulous evening, as myself and my friends had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning soon.

Went there with a couple of friends and had a great time. Nice clean restaurant with lovely, friendly staff and excellent attentive service. The food was brilliant. Being a vegetarian I had no problems with the menu as there was a good selection. I loved their Indo-Chinese Chilli Paneer and mogo. My friends who were non-veg loved their food as well. Finally they also do Kingfisher on tap!! Will be going again for sure.

I have watched a good number of matches here this season. The atmosphere is always good, big screens, loud enough to hear the commentary and decent food and drink too. Prices are good and there are deals whenever there is a Premier League match showing. Watched Chelsea V Spurs, when it was confirmed that Leicester were the champions, what a cracking night. A few ecstatic Leicester fans made it even better. I have watched most Champions League games and a few West Ham matches too. A family pub with restaurant quality food. If you like Indian food with a beer and the football, give it a try.

I have visited ashgrove a few times now. Always happy to go back!Pros- great staff. Always on point to ask if everything is ok. We complained about a side dish and it was rectified pronto! Love all the beers on draught. Lovely chill out spot that is in a convenient location for me.Cons - when it gets busy bathrooms are usually not clean or maintained.Decor could be uplifted a little bit to make it a bit more family friendly and cosey.

Came back to Ilford after a long while away and heard a lot about ash Grove since the takeover. We decided to have starters first then order mains but luckily we didn't stay for mains. Chilli chips were shocking bad. Just a ready made chilli paste dolloped onto the chips. No taste no presentation. The indo Chinese paneer was burnt and dry. Not impressed whatsoever. The non veg mains were nothing spectacular. The only reason why I'm giving a review of 2 is because the manager had the decency to acknowledge the poor food and offered desserts on the house. Difficult to spoil a ready made dessert.All in all a bad experience. Won't recommend to others

It’s a great venue in terms of ambience and screens for watching sports etc. However, the food was not that great. We (group of 5 lads) pretty much sampled all the starters, and consistently they were poor.

I used to visit Ashgrove when it was a proper pub however, after renovation its more like a small restaurant.food is really nice however, in a few occasions it was not even close to its usual deliveries thus be ready for unexpected.It is very quiet however, sitting space is limited and at times (especially weekends) it does get crowded thus reservation in advance would be ideal for weekend family dinner planning.Average experience altogether and definitely could be tried ta least onece,

Nice evening here with friends, not quite what i had expected from the #1 Indian in Ilford. Its a refurbished bar, very clean looking lots of TV's and a football match playing everywhere as we arrived, you go through the bar to get to the food area at the back, the menu had loads of starters and a bit lacking in main choices but there was enough to get something that was recognisable. Good service and the food wasn't bad at all. I would suggest warmed plates maybe...

I would not recommend this restaurant at all due to the lack of cleanliness and hygiene issues. There were flies on the food and drinks around the table, some of which even went inside the food and no solution was offered to this problem. I am extremely dissatisfied with the experience despite all the positive reviews I had read. Would definitely not go there again.

This is a place I decided to go to have dinner after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor. The restaurant was close by and seemed to have a decent menu, so I thought I'd try it outThe Food:I went with my family to the restaurant and we ordered 5 starters consisting of the papdi chat, chilli panneer, spiced mogo chips, spring rolls and crispy potato bhajia. The food is great, one of the better indian places I have eaten in the area. Price is also appropriate.the environment is not amazing, sometimes it just feels like you are sitting in a hall with tables and chairs.

was lovely food delicious made freshly but I still found the atmosphere to much lice a pub that it used to be not quite a restaurant atmosphere as you could still just have a starter and drinks.Although meat is halal the amount of alcohol is off putting so wil miss out on that clientele

We had the mixed grill. Portion size was good but the other than the chicken tikka it was ok. Lamb wasn't as tender as should have been including the lamb chops which was disappointing.

Lovely fresh food. The flavours are authentic and staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant is newly furbished and clean.Make sure yo try Chilli Paneer, Masala Mogo, Chilli Mushrooms and Dal Makhani. The chef is great and will prepare dishes to suit your palate, not too spicy for me!This part of London has been calling out for this sort of restaurant!

Food top class, service top class, portions big. PLEASE PLEASE get rid of the ganster rap playing loudly on the TVs. I looked around and really could not see anyone in there that this would appeal to, families with young children and people chatting at the bar, it really spoils everything and to be honest it would put me off of coming back. There were a group 16, 8 adults and 8 children.First impression's from the outside, it could do with a lick of paint.On the plus side it had it's own parking.Inside..... It's in need of a refurb, looks a bit tatty. Nevertheless, I'm here for the food.We ordered 3 mixed grills and the Indo Chinese chicken starters.The grills had plenty of meat, the kebabs were similar to home made kebabs without the fat and had good flavours, tandoori chicken was also good but some pieces were slightly undercooked. Chicken tikka, this was on the bone, it was fantastic. Lamb, was very good although slightly tough. The Indo Chinese chicken was very good with plenty of garlic.For mains we had Desi chicken which is on the bone, this was fantastic. lamb karahi, this too was good but lamb was slightly dry. We had a few vegetation dishes that didn't go down to well for the vegetations in the group.I didn't try them so I can't comment.Service was spot on, very fast. I think it's value for money and you also get the Kenyan larger Tusker there too.Keep an eye on your glasses for water marks.Can easily become 4 rating if they were to sort out some of tiny issues.I will be back in a few months!

So after waiting to visit the new look ashgrove I wasn't disappointed... My children were happily welcomed, we were seated immediately and were fed and watered perfectly!!! You cannot visit without trying their garlic mushrooms.And the staff... 2 stood out to me Kareem and Batu (maybe wrong spelling), nothing was too much for them and everything was served with a smile, Kareem spent some good time talking to us and kept us entertained thanks guys and see you again soon

Went here for the first time last week monday and have been here 4 times since! Cant get over the indo-chinese chicken and paneer! Highly recommended

Been here a couple of times, was recommended by friends. The food is spot on and doesn't disappoint. With many signature dishes to choose from, salt & pepper prawns are my fave. Love the laid back atmosphere, great place for families and couple alike. And the beer garden is an added bonus.

Great selection of food for veggies and non-veggies. Not your usual curry house. There are many options, some with a indo-chinese twist. The food is rich in flavour and the ingredients noticeably better quality than other restaurants in the area. Great Bar and a Good atmosphere, also family friendly with great service. A much needed boost for culinary standards within the area! Keep up the good work !

I went with family by looking at reviews on trip adviser and recommendation from friend hoping for good dinner, but it turn out a big disappointment from begining to end. You need to arrange dishesh on your own. They cant change mocktale not to have ice. Oil they used is horrible. i fail to understand why does it is rated as number one in ilford when you can find much better ambience, tasty food and good service. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone not even for takeaway

We visited this restaurant as it came up as the number one restaurant in Ilford. We visited at around 7pm as a family and the place was quiet but was starting to warm up, as we were very hungry we ordered a couple of starters and mains. The chilli paneer was not to my liking and was very red and sticky. Having lived in Wembley for many years i do understand what good chilli panner is. The chat we has was also ok nut nothing great. The main meal was much better and when we ordered another nan it did come to our table rather quickly. My little girl felt the main food was a bit hot and we asked for a tablespoon of yogurt to help her eat her food, we were told that this was not possible and we would have to order a portion. We did so and a very very small bowl with about 2 tablespoons was bought out, I'm not sure if this is their regular serving but it was rather small if we wanted to share the yogurt at the table. The place i found was not that clean, the glasses all had water marks on them and there were two dead flies on the window sil where we were sitting.I was really looking forward to having a meal here but not impressed at all and we do eat out frequently.

lovely curry starter was too hot for the kids to eat but loved the rest.excellent food and friendly service.

Really good value for money, good quality home made curry, great selection and food options. Staff are a little cold and quite miserable but worth putting up with it for the food.

Last night it was our first visit. Came to know about the place from TripAdvisor. Saw high rates from others so expecting good quality food in affordable price. And the place met our expectations. The food was very good, the ambience was cozy, the staffs were friendly, price were at the low side, food were halal as well and last but not the least, the place is kids friendly. You can have a great family time without spending a fortune. Highly recommended.

From start to Finnish the food is great. Prices good and drinks are the same staff where friendly and if you don't eat it all they are quick to say they will box it up for u to take home. A true indian meal

Excellent meat and veggie dishes some with a twist of indo Chinese. Food had that authentic taste and smell. Great family friendly venue - parking was easy and the service was polite, friendly and helpful. Highly highly recommended

We went to ashgrove with the family around 18 people in total. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Every dish vegetarian or meat,from start to finish. The whole place has a lovely fresh look and the beer actually tastes fresh not stale like before the new owners came in. Would recommend this place to all family and friends. A must visit for all whether you're in the area or you have to drive in. Better than any north west Resteraunt by far.

I visited The Ashgrove on a Saturday Evening for a meal with friends. The food was absolutely delicious - thoroughly enjoyed every dish that we ordered especially the salt n' pepper prawns! Drinks prices very reasonable & all in all a great night out. Do not hesitate to visit The Ashgrove, don't forget to book tho as it gets busy!

Finally there's a restaurant that is as good or even better than the popular Indian restaurants in NW London. Great service and well refurbished. The food is amazing from the starters to the main.

Been looking forward to this place opening and visitied last Saturday night for a bite. Nicely done up, bright open plan, big windows letting in plenty light. Nice to see a great family atmosphere with kids, mums, dads, uncles, grandads!.Service was great. The staff on point - even though it was an unofficial opening and things were still very new - they managed to do well.Food was very good. Had a mixture of veg and non veg and all we had was good. One thing I would say is that some of the food once cooked by kitchen needs to come out asap to get the best out of it. Was presented very well but above all was very well made and tasted great. Great place to go with families to enjoy some good Indian/Kenyan/Chinese style food. I don't think you will be dissapointed. Just what the area needed. Wish the team and management there all the success. Please keep up the standard and don't let it drop );

A great night out food was excellent ! And surprisingly great vege options as well. Will definitely recommend to anyone reading this . You may want to book as it gets busy very quickly.

Haven't been to Ash Grove for year as the food was not up to any standard I'm used to.I got persuaded to go there last Saturday as my friend told me they had new management, a refurb and most importantly new chefs.I must be honest and say I was really impressed by the refurb and couldn't believe how busy it was in there.Due to my previous visit I was really eager to find out if the quality of the food and dishes had really changed.WOW...I must be honest and say what a difference. The food was fresh and authentic tasting and some of the best I've had in East London.I never thought I would say this but folks get down to the new and improved Ash Grove you will not be disappointed.

Been to the Ash Grove before under the old management, my my under the new management this place has completely been over hauled. We sat for a Sunday lunch and from the start we noticed how well the service and attention of the staff were from ordering our first drinks. Next came out the starters which i kid you not are the best I've ever eaten at a restaurant. The main dishes were to die for with such great flavours and tender meat i even took some away to eat later! overall im really pleased we came here to eat and will definitely be back again! Keep up the good work guys!

We went on Friday, the service was amazing the bartender Gary was exceptional. The best bartender that I have met. The food is amazing would rate 10/10.

Had been to this place before the refurb and didn't think much of it really but drove past a couple of times while it was being refurbed and thought 'WOW' it looks different!! So thought I'd try it out myself and see what all the fuss was about... Have to say, was pleasantly surprised by the new look and feel of the place and the food was equally sumptuous! A far better experience of drinking and dining out with the family than I anticipated with the overly helpful staff and service a far cry from what I imagined! Defo will be going back...!

Recently went to the Ash Grove for a few drinks and ended up staying for the entire Day. Immensely enjoyed there Lunch Menu and followed on by having Dinner there with the family in the evening. A nice clean and modern atmosphere, great refurbishment - a much needed change for the locals and a menu that suits all Palettes - Will be coming again very soon! Very attentive Waiters and Service.

Great food, atmostphere and staff! We definately be returning soon! Highly recommendable for anyone with kids
