I attended a workshop in Beaminster and at lunch time and although we were given many options for food outlets, me and 2 other participants decided on the Trading Post and I am so pleased we did. All 3 of us had soup and it possibly was the most delicious soup I have ever had the pleasure to taste. I would go back to Beaminster just to go to this cafe. It was an absolute joy from start to finish, the service, the food and the venue were all delightful. Thank you Trading post I will be back x

Amazing salads, freshly cooked veggie food, and dog friendly. Popped in for lunch after a rainy walk nearby. Coffee was good, my partner chose the cheese souffle which he said was really good and I had the salad bowl with falafel which had a great selection of different salads...pea, giant couscous, coleslaw, cauli rice. The place is quirky antique shop like, very friendly and welcoming owners and staff. Seemed to be lots of locals/regulars eating there, which is also the sign of a very good place. Overall, I would highly recommend it.

A refreshing change from standard cafe and pub menus. Lunch was an explosion of brilliant flavours and tastes. Avoid bringing diehard meat eaters who won’t be satisfied with a beautiful, healthy vegetarian offering. Service was absolutely fantastic and friendly especially towards our rough collie who was given a special treat too.

I’d seen reviews for the Trading Post and so rang to book a last minute table for lunch today with my elderly mum. 50 minute journey from Weymouth and arrived to a warm welcome and an amazing menu to choose from. As a vegan I’m used to very little choice in many eateries, so this was my food heaven. Mum had the homemade sweet potato and coconut soup with fabulous bread from nearby Evershot and I had an open falafel and hummus sandwich with leaves and chilli sauce. Delicious homemade cakes too and a coffee. Nicely stuffed now The atmosphere was lovely and the staff friendly and attentive. We’re looking forward to going back with friends. Having various allergies and dietary requirements makes it very challenging to eat out with confidence, however, the variation on the vegan breakfast which the owner/chef concocts for us caters to our requirements and is absolutely divine. It is seriously good vegan food at a very reasonable price. We've now been back on 3 occasions and will miss being able to head here for breakfast/brunch once we've returned to whence we came.Staff are friendly, the atmosphere is light and eclectic and locals clearly love it.Highly recommended.

Super tasty homemade falafel burger, excellently spiced and seasoned and without unnecessary additives that usually mean I can't eat anywhere. Would be 5 stars if not for the initial difficulty and slight abruptly dismissive response when asking for details of ingredients due to allergies, but ultimately a very positive experience and I wish they made more of their own food because they are obviously very good at it! Perhaps it was simply to protect the wonderful recipes as they're certainly worthy of protecting, or simply because no one has ever asked before. So good, we stayed for lunch after such a good breakfast. Highly recommended for vegans and folks with allergies, along with folk who like an eclectic comfy cafe clearly filled with adoring food fans.

The facade is not that inspiring as I have walked past this several times and never noticed its existence before! But wow! How lovely is it to eat there!Lovely relaxing ambience, large comfy sofas and mix n match tables & chairs. Waitress service was very friendly and prompt & the place immaculate.Friends had rarebit with extra salad, prawn salad and I had the homemade minestrone soup followed by Leek & Stilton Gratin, (deal of the day for £8.95) with a token side salad. All beautifully presented with lots of lovely salad items with different colours, textures & tastes which was pleasing on the eye and the stomach. The portion size was plenty filling enough for larger appetites too. Care was taken with the fresh coffees, nothing was bitter and a pleasing temperature all served in big pottery cups. There are salads to take away and yummy home made cakes and puddings. The take away trade seemed very popular for a Saturday lunchtime in a quite large village. Signage revealed that during the summer months this cafe becomes a popup restaurant for the evenings and then the menu contains meat. Breads baked here also have a gluten free option for those requiring it. I shall be returning to this with others as soon as possible to try as much from its menu as I can. Bring your own bottles in the evening too. I couldn't find one single thing to fault this place on. So fresh, so friendly and simple very tasty food.

Sometimes, but rarely, you chance upon somewhere that's an absolute gem, faultless in every respect. This is one such place. Wonderfully relaxing atmosphere, lovely decor, with newspapers and magazines to read on comfy sofas. Sometimes you order a toasted teacake and get something tepid and flaccid with too few little packs of butter straight from the fridge...not here, a huge fruit-packed teacake, hot with butter a-plenty. Sometimes you order an Americano and get dishwater with a vague flavour of weak coffee...not here....a proper, full-bodies Americano. And Dorset apple cake the best we've found anywhere so far. And wonderfully friendly service. Superb all round.

I have found that the menu is always consistently excellent with specials (The Fish pie is a must, this coming from someone who was not keen on other Fish pies I've had in the past) and I've also enjoyed many of the seasonal specials offering both fish and vegetarian and gluten free options. The food and the ingredients are always fresh and of high quality. There are an exhilarating range of flavours across the recipes used and the salad bar I have to say is the best I have encountered. The soups are also homemade and equally delicious. What I love is the uniqueness of taste which I haven't experienced anywhere else. The staff are always friendly and courteous in my experience. In fact, I am disappointed when we have to dine out on our travels as we are always comparing both value, taste and flavour by the Cafe@Ann Day benchmark for lunch. We feel very lucky to have this a short drive away from us.The Cafe also offers a take away service and help your own salad box option.

Visiting the area and stopped off here for lunch. Excellent service, food, and ambience. Reasonably priced. Friendly, helpful staff working as a real team. Comfortable seating and relaxing music in the background at just the right decibel level. The fish pie that we both had was beautifully presented as well as being tasty and the accompanying salad was quite a bit above the ordinary. We didn't have room for the apple cake but will be back for that soon!

Stopped here for lunch and it was lovely, fresh salads with different toppings, I had mackerel and it was really nice. I took some Apple cake away, not to be missed! it was amazing. I would definitely return worth a stop if you're in Beaminster.

It's been a couple of years since we visited Beaminster. On our last stay we discovered the Ann Day Arts Deco Cafe. Sometimes it is disappointing going back to a place only to discover that it was not as good as you remembered. BUT NOT IN THIS CASE. It was even better. The food was delicious as ever, tasty gluten free homemade cakes, coffee wonderful and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a new salad bar . Plus, it had been tastefully 'redecorated in a fresh and unique way. The nice owners ,who are there every day were so helpful telling us about interesting local information and places. We finished up eating there every day the cafe was open during our week break. Sometimes morning coffee and cake, other times lunch. Without fail it was consistently superb. Excellent all round.

I don't drink, smoke or gamble so need a naughty pleasure in life...and mine is going out for a coffee and cake. I have to say that I am a bit of a connoisseur, especially when it comes to cake ! Therefore the Art Deco Cafe is high on my list for mid-morning indulgence. I have been to the cafe several times...with my dog who is always made most welcome...and have always found the cakes to be delicious. They are often quite unusual and always tasty. The decor is fresh and there is a friendly atmosphere . Top marks.

I eat at this cafe in Beaminster often and I have to say that i don't recognise it from the negative comments on here!! The food is great, very competitively priced and sooooo yummy! They have a fab salad bar where you can serve yourself ....which is great as it comprises of more than the usual boring salad stuff that gets served up in many eateries......and lovely home made soups too... and their fish pie is famous and loved by the locals! The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating and welcome my dog with open arms!!!! If you are in beaminster go try it out for yourself ..... You won't be disappointed!!!

We visited this cafe twice. I loved the fresh crab salad, my husband had mackerel salad. (The waitress did use her hands a lot to break up sale & mackerel, we watched her! ) but it all tasted nice, not much room there, staff were very nice.

Well, what a lovely place! Recommended by a pal. Went for coffee and cake. This place is unique like going into yourGran’s front room. So cosy, friendly. Hand written bigmenu. Our cake was amazing, the waitress was lovely, friendly with humour. Wish that we lived closer. Great value. Many thanks

We have visited the Abbey House a few years ago and drive especially with a detour to revisit. Since my wife uses a wheelchair I asked to be seated on the lawns just a few steps from the terrace to make an accessible place available (we had been seated there during our prvfious visit). The waiter answered: we only put tables there duiding a wedding. So no other option for us then just leave the place since which is NOT accesible for a wheelchair. We were very disappionted and felt unwelcomed.

Great service, delicious food and an intimate dining experience. This is what eating out should be. Well worth a visit. Excellent customer focus and a lovely atmosphere. We have made this our yearly Christmas meal venue and it never disappoints. I cannot wait for our Christmas visit this year!!!
