Visiting the Touchstones Art Gallery we stopped for drinks and snacks. Good selection of teas, iced mocha was great and came in an interesting mason jar with a handle. Single use plastic straws were out of sync with a vegetarian menu. Good soup and bread and other dishes on other peoples tables looked good.

Lovely looking place, lovely looking menu but neither the food nor service matched up. My tea was a teabag left in a mug of hot water. No teapot, no pot of hot water. My lunch was overmicrowaved , dry and rock hard. Salad accompaniment was dry and full of green pepper. Coleslaw was nice though. The cafe was almost empty and the two staff, who need lessons in smiling, sat in armchairs on their mobile phones throughout our time there!

We called in for a quick snack. Cumpets with butter slapped on. Coffee delivered and slopped onto saucer. We felt like we were an inconvenience.A smile goes a long way. Service with no interaction. Not a nice feeling. We enjoyed the museum..Good exhibition about Gracie Fields.

Ten thirty visit and the staff are taking it easy, the tables and chairs are covered in what looks like yesterday's food. Coffee is good. But prices are expensive. Don't think four pound for a kids milkshake is good value!

About 5 mins from the centre of town but well worth a detour. Liked the great choice on the board although on a Saturday this meant that not everything was available. Service was very friendly with manager keen to ensure our food was acceptable. Waits were 10 to 15 minutes which, with our order, was fine. I ordered a burrito. While it came looking like a lasagne it neverless was great. Definitely worth the walk out of town especially if you are visiting the art gallery.

After a wander round the excellent Touchstones Museum and Art Gallery I can thoroughly recommend the Art Cafe, situated on the ground floor. The food is first class and there are a wide range of options, including vegetarian and gluten free. The service is excellent and the staff are friendly and attentive.

In town for the day, I visited the excellent Touchstones Museum and gravitated to The Art Cafe for lunch. Comfortable seating, a wide range of options both hot and cold at fair prices, plus friendly and welcoming staff. A very good experience.

Lovely staff, great lunches and the best coffee that I have had for months. The toasted sandwiches are fantastic and come with a large salad.

I am an occasional visitor to the Art Café, and somehow managed to visit 3 times in the last week, plus again for a takeaway scone! This is definitely a place to relax and enjoy a coffee or lunch. The staff are friendly, the food is great and it's one of the very few places where I trust the staff to deliver a proper cappuccino. It's only a few minutes walk from the town centre, definitely worth a visit!

This pub has fantastic views and warm and inviting inside ... it gets 3 stars just because it's dog friendly.. I decided to have the famous cheese & onion pie meal and wow that was a let down it was so soggy obviously just heated in a microwave I only ate it as not to offend my guest ... shame really as the pub it's self is nice n cosy .. and dog friendly thats always a plus .. the gravey was tasty tho..

This is a lovely pub that serves great food. The pub is cosy and not pretentious in any way. We love the fish and chip supper on a Friday evening - great quality flaky fish in batter, superb chips, mushy peas and bread and butter - all for £19 for 2 people - what’s not to like? A great end to the working week.

A delicious coffee, smooth and more than strong enough, served in a big mug was just the start I needed. Some usual choices on the Breakfast menu, from Bacon barms and toasted teacakes, through to some specials. I had the Petit Café scrambled egg special. This was eggs tossed with mushrooms, ham (or salmon), 3 types of onions and spinach, alongside a slice of toast. Healthy and delicious, and only £5.50. The Petit Café has Polish roots, as seen from the lovely, friendly lady behind the counter, cooking up a dream of a breakfast, through to the delicious Pierogi dumplings in 3 flavours. For us, these are a reminder of a lovely holiday in Krakow, and we will be back to enjoy. Add in their loyalty card and good prices, and it should ensure big things for this little café.

I was one of a group of walkers who popped into the Hopwood Arms for drinks after a 4 mile walk around the Slattocks area of Middleton. We were welcomed and served with a smile.
