The Ark in Glasgow City

Don't bother... and won't go back, terrible service. Got my food order wrong and when asked for a replacement the waiter snapped at me saying no unless you want a 20 min wait, 'we are busy'. No cutlery or sauces came with food had to ask couple of times. All on top on a long wait for food even though had been pre-ordered!! Manner of the bouncer was rude and aggressive who needs more customer communication training. His attitude was terrible. Only 1 star as can not give 0.

Large city centre bar with large beer garden. Mainly a student crowd but not exclusively. Good range of drinks and shows sport on TV. Good atmosphere for big games. Has a bar snack menu too. The beer garden is a gem in the summer..

Amazing craft beer selection, we had a hot bartender and she explained all of the craft beers very well. It’s a great place. They’re doing great stuff over there, they’ve got great people working on the craft beers, aislinn was great. She was our bartender. They’re doing great stuff here, sampled some great Scottish whiskey.

The music was good and the place itself was nice but unfortunately one of the staff members was very rude and shouted in the face of one of my friends. This reaction was very unwarranted and I understand it is hard working in a busy bar setting but anger shouldn’t be taken out on customers. As someone who doesn’t drink and never really goes out, this experience has definitely put me off ever going back which is a shame because we spent a lot of money.

Our first visit to Ark. First impression when we walked inside. Very nice and clean. Very spacious. It was 12pm we went and it was quiet but we liked it. Cameron is a lovely girl. Very helpful and friendly too. We ordered one portion of skin potatoes chips (very small portion) I must say. Two portions of chicken wings. One Hot n honey buffalo sauce and sour cream and Korean sweet siracha sauce. We preferred hot and honey buffalo sauce better. One pot of tea and one cup of hot water with two slices of lemon. We will definitely coming back again and would recommend friends to come here.

Popped in when in town and was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the pub. How refreshing to be served by the lovely Sophie behind the bar who made my day!

Decent place for a tennents and to watch the football. Would return

Used to be our go to place for pre-drinks. Was always a really good vibe and plenty of space to get seated, but it was always busy, which is a testament to the place. It used to just be downstairs and a beer garden, with a bookable upstairs area. Which was always great, but coming back after a few years, they seem to have expanded the upstairs and made it free access, too, as well as expanding the beer garden into a raised area as well. More spaces and even better than the last time i was here. A definite reccomendation from me

I went in to watch the Six Nations, was served by Sophie who was an absolute delight! Made the experience 10x better with her positive attitude, always made time for us when needed. She made some great drink recommendations. A lovely experience!

Went in for the craft and cocktail night and was very suprised at the value for money. Had a great overall atmosphere, Sophie who was serving us was very friendly and always had a smile on her face. This only made the atmosphere better.

My friend and I popped in to the Ark yesterday afternoon before the rugby began. Bustling, lively and a really friendly atmosphere. Sophie at the bar reflected that lovely atmosphere with her smiles and helpful advice when we couldn’t decide what we wanted to drink. This is a bar I’d definitely go to again and suggest to other friends.

The Ark is a great place in the city centre to watch sports. Yesterday we went to watch the 6 Nations and the atmosphere was brilliant! Sophie worked her socks off and was a brilliant server. Her tireless work only enhanced our feeling of satisfaction!

Had a great couple of hours here. Very nice food and a nice selection of beers. This was my first time here, but I'll be back there when I'm back in Glasgow. Highly recommend

The Ark is a wonderful place to enjoy an after work drink or a boozy brunch with friends! Huge drink selection, I was served by Aislinn the bartender at my boozy brunch and I didn’t have an empty glass for the full time I was there because of her attentiveness. Decent food, and plenty of vegan options.

Having reflected on a previous review I really should amend it. This was without a doubt the worst food I have purchased at any eating establishment for decades. A frozen food fest badly cooked and horribly presented.

The place is really nice but they ID you constantly. Got checked twice before I’d even sat down and I was only ordering wings. My mate got sent away for not having ID even though he’d only ordered food and wasn’t getting a drink. Absolute joke

Used to be a solid 4-5 star when we went previously. Not been in a good while but unfortunately it really lost what the Ark always was. Food was mediocre and booze decent but just as you would be expect. Gone are the awesome burgers and munch down dishes. Still allows dogs which is cool but sad it's not what it used to be.... A mediocre bar now with a decent 3 and probably low 4 on a good day.

This is one of the first bars I visited as a resident of Glasgow and it never disappoints. Wonderful central location, not too expensive considering the location and the service is always amazing.

Great pub! Had a good time. We came to grab a bite and watch the soccer match between Greece and The Netherlands. We had to sit outside since there was a pub quiz, but there where headlights so it wasn't that cold. Great atmosphere.

I had a really good night in here with some friends on Friday. The food was minted, great atmosphere the entire night, and the staff could not have been more welcoming. Not the cheapest pub I've been to like but for what they offer it's deffo a good deal.

Great pub 2 minutes from George square and queen street station. Great place to stop for a quick one while waiting for the train. Service is typically pretty fast and the prices are very reasonable. There’s a great outdoor area/beer garden which also has heating etc.

Pretty decent pub. Good mix of people there. Not too loud. Didn't get anything to eat but what I saw looked nice.

Aislinn was very hospitable and friendly, really made the experience visiting there unique and special. Amazing service, will definitely be back!

Great venue, which has two good bars. The upstairs bar had less but was still decent. Main bar was great with a wide variety of drinks. Staff were friendly enough. 1 girl upstairs was a bit cranky but everyone else was great. Bar service was pretty good, served everyone relatively fast. Thanks guys

The place and staff are lovely I found a man who was robbed and after it took police at the time of taken the man in 2 hours nd 15 minutes when I took the man in The staff treated him with care and respect and gave him food and soft drinks to help him when I had to leave, they were amazing, I came in the today (11th august 2023) to thank one person and staff, I couldn’t recommend it enough. I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me and the man. The staff are lovely as I mentioned, I may not have ate but I can’t thank the staff on the 10th august 2023 for helping the man who was robbed, to the workers if you see this, genuinely thank you, you all are worth so much more in this world and we need more people like you. To anyone who reads this and wants to go there. Do it, I’ll always thank workers and staff, but the people who helped are amazing, thank you

Great place to go before an evening out. It's reasonably priced. Has TV's for the sports fans. Quite a mixed vibe and age group with beer garden at the rear.

The Ark has always been a great pub but visited this weekend after they’ve refurbished it and it’s even better. Food was really tasty, they had a nice craft selection including Cranachan Killer (raspberry IPA) which was very good. And staff were really friendly and helpful :)

First time visiting since the refurbishment and it was fantastic, the food was fab and so many beers on tap. I love the new decor with all the plants! The staff are some of the friendliest around ESPECIALLY Mr. Rob Tennant who was 100/10 <3

After hearing the Ark had a recent investment we decided to see what was new and couldn’t believe the difference. We were seated in the revamped beer garden and it didn’t disappoint. There was plenty of seating and even if the weather wasn’t great there is plenty of covered seating, easily the best beer garden in the city centre. The food was excellent and served in a timely fashion, plenty of sharing options for our group. The drinks range was extensive especially the craft range which gave us plenty of options to sample something different. We only walked through the interior but could see there is plenty of TVs for a true sporting experience and we will definitely look to book here for the upcoming euros. The staff were so friendly and genuinely seemed like they we’re having fun engaging with us which just added to our superb experience. Thoroughly look forward to visiting again and taking advantage of the brilliant beer garden!

El servicio que recibimos fue impactante y nos sentimos totalmente avergonzados por cómo nos trató el personal. Lo haremos 100% no vuelvo y no recomiendo este lugar a nadie era mi noche de cumpleaños y tuve que caminar bajo la lluvia, qué broma: (no volveré para nada tan molesto y avergonzado

Pagué 10 libras para reservar una mesa aquí anoche, lo que ni siquiera fue compensado a través de pedidos de bebidas. Nuestra mesa estaba justo enfrente de las puertas, lo que hizo que el área se congelara. Les preguntamos si podían cerrar la puerta a lo que dijeron que no, ya que todos tendrían que desinfectarse las manos, lo que realmente debería hacerse independientemente. Luego preguntamos si podíamos mover los asientos, pero nos dijeron que estaban completamente reservados, lo cual es comprensible que dijimos si hay alguna forma de que obtengamos algún tipo de calor a lo que la descarada camarera respondió 'sí, vete a casa'

Glasgow para ver el fútbol ordenó picarTeníamos 4 aros de cebolla y 4 piezas de pollo que debían tener semillas de granada y sésamo solo tenían 5 semillas de granadaEl pollo tenía media cucharadita de salsa picante dulce si tenía suerte. No nos dieron cubiertos ni servilletas, así que esperábamos comer esto con los dedos.Cargado casi 9. ¡Por esta broma absoluta! ! ! ! !Honestamente disgustado, no esperaría que nadie comiera esto sin cubiertos y el precio que cobraron por esto es un robo, al personal no le importó

Me encantó este lugar desde mis días de universidad (2016)Siempre mi primer puerto de escala en Glasgow. Fue bueno estar de vuelta. El jardín de la cerveza es fantástico. El personal es increíble como siempre. La cerveza también es épica. Gran selección de artesanía también. No puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficiente. Uno de los mejores bares de Glasgow.

Las pintas son planas, el ambiente era bastante podrido y el personal del bar nos hizo sentir muy incómodos, sin saber si era porque éramos un grupo de hombres jóvenes o si así era como estaban con todos, obtuvimos comida que era muy normal. No volveré

My mates and I were in on Monday for the pub quiz which we regularly attend. We always have a great night and Fraser is class! This pub is my local and favourite pub in Glasgow since moving here for uni and I come in a few times a week. Never had a bad experience before and I'm always telling people to go to the Ark for a good night! This changed on Monday though, I'm not one for reviews but felt I had to on this occasion as it hasn't been the first time. We were served by a guy, I'm not sure what his name was. He was quite tall and smelt of BO which straight away put us off. He was very rude to me when I tried paying for a pint with a £20 note, he repeatedly told me and another one of my pals how hungover he was and how he couldn't wait to get home for a pint while on shift. At first we laughed but then after about the 6th time it wasn't funny. The worst part though was that he started slagging off one of his colleagues who I've come to know from being a regular (Blonde girl, she is great, proffesional, a good laugh and always remembers your drinks order, it's hard to get that kind of service in such a busy city so this is one of the reasons we come here so frequently)I won't say on here the things he was saying but he was very insulting ! This was an uncomfortable situation to be in and we avoided being served by him for the rest of the night.Dissapointed as I've always loved the Ark as all the other staff are so friendly, great prices and a good atmosphere. I hope something is done about this guy because if he carries on acting this way then I won't be the only customer you lose.I hope something is done as he is turning a great bar into a bad one.

No under 18 allowed. Should be on hythe website to save people travelling there to be turned away. It had a horrible smell so wouldn't have eaten anyway.

Tomé una hamburguesa, estaba buena pero seca y pusieron unos cuantos kons de salsa de soya en las cuerdas suaves. Mi esposa pidió los nachos y fue comprado en la tienda chips de tortilla y aguacate posiblemente enlatado así que sabía más insípido. Mi hijo tomó panqueques y estos eran buenos, ligeros y esponjosos.

I arrived at The Ark on 29.6.19 at about 6pm. I asked bouncer - wee boy wi bum fluff beard- to allow me in to see my work colleagues who were inside. He said that he needed a name . I said I didnt know who had organised it but said the name of my work. He said that he needed a name and I was to stand in the queue. A colleague arrived and said the name he required to get in. He waved us to go in and as I was about to enter I noticed he had an earpiece. I said, Could you not have asked someone inside if my work party group were in? He said he didn't like my attitude and he was barring me. I said Ok and walked away. Imoudent wee nyaff!!I spoke to a couple of colleagues yesterday about what happened and they were surprised at the bouncer's attitude. They both remarked about not only poor service but lack of staff on. Both commented on the stench and floor of the toilets swimming in urine. One sink had paper towels stuffed in it, and another was full of water and sick!!I think this bouncer did me a favour. I would never go back and certainly wouldn't recommend.

Mis amigos y yo elegimos The Ark para tomar una copa hoy, ya que el clima era estupendo y su jardín de cerveza está destinado a ser bueno. El lugar es excelente, sin embargo, el trato del personal fue completamente inaceptable. En primer lugar, mientras estaba de pie en el bar, esperando que me sirvieran, una alta miembro del personal que traía unas gafas derramó accidentalmente una gran cantidad de bebidas sobre mí, mientras que esto sucedió, no se dio ninguna disculpa ni siquiera una oferta de una servilleta. Luego, mientras esperaba que me sirvieran en el bar, estaba parado detrás de una pareja que estaba siendo atendida; una vez que habían sido servidos, me acerqué al bar, el camarero, un hombre que llevaba un pañuelo con estrellas en la cabeza, gritó rudamente que Él no me serviría, ya que estaba en un área sin servicio. Esta manera despectiva, grosera y poco profesional fue totalmente inesperada, ya que no había hecho nada y de ninguna manera nadie debería ser tratado de esta manera, podría haberme informado educadamente de que no podía ser atendida allí, pero como literalmente solo había servido par delante de mí me había imaginado que estaba bien. En general, cuando pedí ayuda a algún miembro del personal, todos fueron desdeñosos y sin disculpas. Era justo que estuviera ocupado, pero eso no significa que pueda tratar a sus clientes como basura.

We went there recently and I was SHOCKED at how rude and disrespectful this one bartender was, her name was "Megan F" and I can tell you we will NOT be going back there anytime soon!!!

Despite it saying on all online websites that The Ark shuts at midnight, I have been in a few times recently and the staff have told everyone to leave at 11pm. They are often very rude and threaten to take drinks off of people - particularly the small female manager. it seems their rudeness and eagerness to shut early is just so they can get home and finish their shift earlier. They should update online sources to be more realistic of when they actually close rather than forcing people out an hour before closing time.

As an exchange student, I went as often as i can in this pub. Many places, snooker tables, places to drink inside and outside, and really great athmosphere. Beside the slow employees (maybe because of their low number) prices are interesting with daily reductions for many products. If you want to discover a typical but not touristical pub, go to the Ark.

Usually when visiting Glasgow, this is my first haunt. Visited before a gig with a lot of friends on 2nd March and the service was top as always. Great atmosphere, great beer. Happy days.

Fuimos a almorzar después de las críticas de Tripadvisor y el rugby (Escocia - Gales) hasta el tope con admiradores escoceses / galeses, comida excelente, gran desayuno? morir por. Gran ambiente, absolutamente agitado, pero Callum todavía recordaba mi pedido de bebidas. Excelente servicio aunque perdimos el rugby? ?

El personal del bar era muy amable y el pub tenía un buen ambiente. Estaba muy ocupado debido a las Seis Naciones, pero eso es de esperar y solo se agrega a la atmósfera. No comimos aquí, pero la comida se veía bien. Me hubiera gustado ver a más personal del bar trabajando en una tarde tan ocupada, ya que a veces la espera para las bebidas era un poco larga.

Estábamos visitando Glasgow en un fin de semana de seis naciones y acampamos aquí en dos partidos. Habíamos reservado una mesa grande y nos quedamos encantados de tener ya que estaba muy ocupado. La calidad de las pantallas fue increíble (y enorme!). Las bebidas eran un buen precio y la comida era de gran calidad también. Realmente por favor con el hallazgo y lo recomendaría.

Una gran noche hasta que el 'manager' me negó una ronda de tragos para mi amigo después de que me malinterpretó ponerme de pie para ir al bar como 'borracho' cuando mi taburete quedó atrapado en otro taburete vacío. Realmente no profesionalmente manejado; Estaba teniendo una gran noche hasta que este tipo intervino. Fui a pedir una ronda de bebidas para mis amigos una hora más tarde y (sin previo aviso) este tipo pidió al personal del bar que me negara el servicio.

Cheap pub great atmosphere didn’t eat on this occasion but have done plenty of times before and food is always great. Staff are lovely bar queue kept moving even when busy. Highly recommend if looking for somewhere centre of town but low priced.

We had our team meal here - food was so greasy and there were flies in the pub which were surrounding our food. The seating was dirty and ripped. Staff were so abrupt and rude. Would not recommend going here even for a drink.

Vino al bar a tomar unas copas con amigos y fue recibido por un barman muy extraño que era muy grosero y un poco espeluznante. Le dio a mi amigo una pajita de plástico junto con un detalle sobre cómo mata a las tortugas y sobre cómo incendiar el océano, lo cual no creo que sea posible porque está muy mojado.

My friends used to go to the Ark basically all the time, so I went too each time I was visiting Glasgow. It is a great place for cheap dinner and drinks, they have very good cocktails - 9£ pitchers! Nice pub food too - I liked the wings and sweet potato fries. The burgers are tasty as well. The beer garden is lovely but a few more heaters would be appreciated for the people not used to the cold ... :)
