Sat in the semi private dining area for a pre wedding get together, it was perfect exactly what what we needed, relaxed atmosphere with good food and drink. Everyone had a great time.

Lovely arts and crafts interior. The staff are really great: Welcoming, polite, helpful, and fast. The food is good but if the place is very crowded you may need to wait . If you are visiting Bath this is one of the places you should see if you are interested in interior design.

10 of us for Sunday lunch. Roasts were amazing including smaller portions available. Not everyone wants a roast and there was plenty of other amazing dishes to chose from. Environment is equally wonderful and the staff are all so friendly and there when you need them. Could not recommend more highly for groups or couples

Had a family lunch for an 85th birthday. Staff were warm and welcoming from start to finish.Busy day as were some graduations locally but service and food were great. They even produced a candle lit desert and sang happy birthday.

The architect was an amazing lunch spot for us on our trip to Bath! We loved the venue, atmosphere and the food was delicious! Extra bonus points for the amazing gluten free options, and you wouldn’t even know it is gluten free. Will be looking forward to coming back here my next time in Bath.

Great location and a wonderful place to relax . The building is very old and still has the original decor and design inside giving it an authentic feel . Drinks and food were excellent .

My family and I came here for Mother's Day so it was super busy which made the service very slow - this would have been fine, but we did have a hungry toddler and we had to follow up our toddler's food a couple of times. And unfortunately when it came, it wasn't until half way through we discovered a hair in it... this was swiftly rectified by the maitre d. I also requested to be seated where we wouldn't disturb anyone with a wondering small child but the seat we were sat at was too high for a highchair - a bit of a faux par in seating allocations, but the place was fully booked to be moved last minute. Other than the issue with the our toddler's mac and cheese, the starters were just quite standard. I had the king prawn and squid and I had about 2 prawns and only 3 little battered squid on the plate. My husband had the leek and potato soup with sourdough bread which was okay. But from the underwhelming starters, the roast made up for it all. I had the lamb and it was cooked beautifully - tender, moist and marinated well. My husband had the nut roast which was seasoned well. My parents both had the mixed roast and they enjoyed every element of it. My sister in-law had the chicken, served with two large chicken legs, and my brother had the pork and again this was generously portioned with the right level of crunch in the crackling (those were his words). The desserts were your classic, sticky toffee pudding, warm chocolate brownie, cheesecake etc. those were also executed well for very busy venue. The maitre d, Rain, worked tirelessly to make sure we still had a wonderful dinning experience considering we had a bumpy start. We would absolutely come back here again but maybe skipping out the starters and making sure we order as soon as we sit down. The venue was well decorated, and had a lovely view of Bath - I think this venue is perfect for special occasions.

A lovely building on approach and the interior is also so nice!! The food was amazing - Mothers Day set menu was excellent with plenty to choose from and the roast dinner was right up there as a top contender. Service was excellent and well tended to by all.

With a large party for a birthday celebration. Staff were polite and attentive. The venue is very relaxed and in keeping with the city. Really enjoyed the food which was reasonably priced and a great selection of ales on tap.

One of my very favourite places in Bath. Great staff, amazing decor and style, and organising great events (eg. Morning walks). Clearly a business that cares about its custom and customers, and staff. Overall, probably the best all rounder in Bath, for coffees/drinks/meals. Highly recommend, especially compared to The Boater and other nearby pubs that are not great.

Amazing Sunday lunch . The best thing about the lunch was the service we received from Chris . I am a local of Bath and have stopped going out due to the service in restaurants which is a shame . Chris is an absolute asset to this establishment.

Burger was waaaay over seasoned the sheer volume of salt was just too much. Burger was cooked well, food was fine, but the chef put way too much on. Really wasn’t pleasant.

Belated Valentine’s dinner with my wife, nearly cancelled as the weather was vile tonight but glad we didn’t overall. Was seated at a table in the main dining room, would request one of the sumptuous booths if we come back. Service was quick and efficient, crispy chilli squid and Halloumi starters were very good and good sized portions. The main course came a little too quickly afterwards but that seems standard for restaurants these days. My Venison, mushroom suet crust pie with Colcannon was divine and a huge portion, highly recommended! Wife had fish cake with poached egg and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Most importantly for me, everything was served on an actual plate, not a pretentious plank, chopping board or slate in sight, hallelujah! Only slight negatives was it was a touch too bright in there in a Weatherspoons kinda way (knock the lighting down 20% and the ambience would have been doubled). There was a raucous hen do at the back of the room but hey, it’s Bath on a Saturday so to be expected and they were having fun. Could have done with a 20 minute break between starter and main but again the fast pace is normal these days sadly. I’m a northern cheapskate and I cringed at the prices before I went but have to say the quality of food did not disappoint and a bill of £88 for two including two cocktails, a Guinness and 12.5% obligatory service was good value in even my book. Would definitely go again.

Lovely restaurant set within the beautiful Empire building. Welcomed and presented with a glass of champagne. The restaurant has admirable decor and furnishings and a great ambience. The menu is plenty and food presented very well. Vast selection of tasty cocktails to enjoy. We dined the evening of valentines. Service was amazing and all staff friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be dining here again soon.

Sadly the service lets this pub down. After literally no service at all how interesting that they slam 12.5% service charge on the bill and never even let you know.

As residents of Bath we are trying to make an effort to explore more local restaurants and our visit to The Architect was fantastic. Our server Jimmy was excellent - he was perfectly attentive and more than happy to engage in friendly conversation despite the restaurant being fairly busy and him obviously working very hard. The Manager was also fantastic and even came to personally ask how our meal was at the end. We thoroughly enjoyed all three courses we had, particularly our mains of venison pie and sausage and mash. We were too full for a 'proper' pudding but even the ice cream and affogato we had were excellent! We are already looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu!

Popped in here for a well deserved drink after shopping! Lovely comfortable seats and great atmosphere. Service was good and drinks reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend.

First time but certainly not the last. Had a fantastic Sunday lunch with the family. More than just roasts which suits us. The squid with dip was an amazing start. Roast beef and pork was my choice and it was perfect. Lots of crispy roast potatoes and the veggies were well cooked and tasty. Hubby had the Hake fish cake and can’t wait to come back and have it again! The burger disappeared quickly and the other roasts had huge Yorkshire pudding and loads of extra gravy. No pudding sadly as we had birthday cake at home. Good wine and beer list. Staff were outstanding including Ava . Thank you

Been for drinks several times, but today took my parents for lunch. And The Architect didn't disappoint! Service was perfectly pitched by Nic, and her colleague, who were incredibly welcoming and attentive from walking in to leaving. As a celiac, I couldn't have felt more reassured! And the food was absolutely delicious. Will certainly be back! Sure to become a Bath favourite!

First visit today for lunch. We were impressed by all the choices on offer, including a small plate option. The food was delicious and there were so many other dishes we wanted to try we went back for dinner later on. Again, really delicious. Very attentive service too. If we lived closer, we would be very regular customers. Couldn’t fault anything.

Pies could have been improved in terms of filling and quality. Pork rib eye is enjoyable. Dining room has nice decor and atmosphere is lively.

We booked this for a family meet up, having searched for gluten free in Bath. The food was fantastic (especially the pork belly) and it was no problem to split a steak between my kids as they can't usually eat the kids menu food in pubs. it was such a wonderful treat to be handed a full menu of puddings instead of being fobbed off with a brownie or ice cream again. I had a delicious sticky toffee pudding and Mum,as white chocolate and cranberry cheesecake was also gorgeous. We'll definitely be back soon.

Beautiful location, superb service, but the food missed the mark. Ordered small plates and while the présentation of each was lovely, the substance did not match.

Elegant setting in the Architect Restaurant but not pretentious elegant, staff were efficient and friendly, the prices very good and the food was excellent.

Lovely settings, good cocktails and great service. Unfortunately the Sunday Roast (Beef) was inedible, chewy and didn't seem fresh. The veg/potatoes were poor and reheated. We were expecting food of highest quality for that price, very disappointed will not be back for food.

Delicious food and atmosphere. We had a Christmas Eve dinner there and the lamb was one of the best portions I've had in the UK. The atmosphere, while packed, was quite fun. Beautiful decor and nice views next to the Abbey. I would recommend a reservation on weekend nights as it was quite busy while we were there. Prices are very reasonable and service was overall decent. Dog friendly as well which is a plus!

I come here two or three times a year and last visited on the first Saturday of the Christmas markets. The front of house staff were friendly, informative and kind, bar tenders were incredible and the food I had was superb (venison pie and colcannon mash). Big shout out to the whole team at The Architect, you're always top notch and make my visits special.

Very busy bar area (well, it was Saturday night during the Christmas market, so to be expected) but the restaurant was much calmer. Really nice ambience and decor with great service from the friendly staff. Food was delicious - nicely presented with good sized portions. This was our first visit but we'll be looking to come back the next time we're in Bath.

Had a fantastic time at our work Christmas lunch, food was delicious, staff were very friendly and helpful and service was good. It was a bonus that I was able to cancel some of the meals at short notice and have the money put towards drinks instead - this was a welcome surprise! The only thing was being out in the orangery it did get a little drafty for those at the end of our table when people went in and out of the door, however that was a minor thing given the rest of it was wonderful. Excellent value for money with a really nice ambience. Would definitely return.

My first experience at The Architect and I will definitely be back! We had a lovely time! The service was fantastic, quick but not rushed, friendly staff who offered to go above and beyond and we had a very relaxed experience. The food was amazing, the quality was great. The steak burger was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten, everyone went home well fed and content. The venue itself is beautiful, we could see the Abbey lit up from the window, the Christmas décor in the dining area was lovely. Everything about it had such a nice feel. I would definitely recommend to others and hopefully will be back again soon! Thank you.

Here as part of a works Christmas do. It was OK but if it was me paying then I would not be so forgiving. Smoked haddock, mussel and clam chowder had no evidence of sea life whatsoever; tasted good as a bowl of hot cream would. There were other issues but overall, the meal was pleasant, the atmosphere lovely, and the company was excellent. However, as with all Bath restaurants, with so many alternatives this place really needs to up its game if it is to survive (and it's the sort of place I would like to see keep going) .

Before our guests arrived a male member of staff brought two customers into the restaurant and told us that he needed our table in a rather hostile and assumptive manner that inferred he thought we hadn't booked the table. He later apologised but this should never have happened and was very unprofessional. Worse still was the interaction with our waitress when our guest, after over 30 minutes of waiting, enquired about the progress of our main courses and was told in a very rude and abrupt manner that 'we're very busy'. I was staggered and incredibly embarrassed by how my guest was spoken to and it immediately soured the atmosphere and our enjoyment of our lunch experience. There can be no justification for the above under any circumstances and we felt very disappointed by the experience. Regrettably, on this basis (and purely from this one experience) I could not recommend The Architect to friends.

A group of 14 of us came here for our Christmas Dinner and had an excellent meal. We were very well looked after by Charlie and other staff.

Just popped in for a drink with friends. Very nice bar with plenty of seating space. Decent wine list (just needs an Alsace Gewürztraminer to round it out). Ambiance is perfect - upmarket but relaxed.

A bitterly cold day visiting Bath for the Christmas Market, was made more bearable by our visit to The Architect. The staff were attentive and very welcoming as was the ambience. Most enjoyable.

Booked a table for two on their inside terrace. Had a drink first while we waited. The place was absolutely freezing and that’s the way you were expected to eat your food. They were even giving people blankets to keep warm. The place needs heating...

Cannot praise this restaurant enough! The food, service and decor are outstanding! A couple of us enjoyed their special Thanksgiving menu, complete with some creative and tasty vegetarian options. All of the food was fabulous (soups, tortellini, lentil Wellington, etc).

Everything was perfect. Charlie was the host with the most, as ever (I have to admit to having an favourite, but everyone is nice)! The food was spectacular, highly recommend the chicken with gnocchi and gorgonzola! Also their Sunday lunch is next level. The setting of The Architect is superb (as is the central location) and the whole team of staff are super friendly and nice. We never have a bad experience.

Although we had a table booked in the bar/orangery area for lunch we asked to sit on the terrace for some festive atmosphere - it was perfect with the best view of the Abbey! Having been to Bath many times this was the first time we had visited the Architect but it will not be the last. Brilliant comfortable bar area for pre-drinks followed by a lovely setting for dinner. Food was very good, with plenty of options for all, including gluten free and nut allergy sufferers! Am sure this is also a delightful place to visit when the weather is nicer and you can also sit on the terrace.

This spot is great for a midday meal! Our server, Nicole, was attentive and very engaging. The fish and chips were just right!! All in all a great meal.

We ate here on Sunday around 4pm, it was pretty quiet but amazing interior. Husband asked for an Old Fashioned, which was not on the cocktail menu but the bar staff were able to make him one, much appreciated. I had the black garlic and rosemary pork belly, black garlic paste..what a revelation! Husband had the boar, pork, parsnip and cider pie, he was very happy. Only down points are that we witnessed a chef stroking a couple of dogs in the main dining room and then going back into the kitchen, you cannot help but wonder did he wash his hands and change his clothes before going back to handling / being around food. Also, the door between the kitchen and the main dining room was left propped open so the heavy metal music pouring out of the kitchen into the dining room was a little jarring. Apart from those issues, had a delicious meal and would definitely return.
