Beautiful food in a lovely setting

We visited on 9 May - all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! I am grateful that Brunning & Price make ordering with allergies/intolerances straightforward - it's not the norm at all and it's much appreciated (the QR code, the allergy filter plus that magic option of selecting 'may contain'). We'll be back again.

Sunday Roast objectively incredible. It's crazy how they can do these numbers (the place is large and well frequented) while maintaining enviable quality. Great catering lesson. I recommend it.

It's special but not overly expensive. Very Bath.

Came here on Good Friday with friends. The contrails were delicious, the atmosphere was lovely and it was busy but not crowded. A lovely place for a drink.

We went to this place on Sunday afternoon without any reservation, and when we asked the waiters about a table, they were almost trying to get rid of us. Eventually, we settle down on large tables in front of the bar. The bartender, however, made our day. He was kind and patient and recommended the best drinks. The order of some food and salad. The salad looked beautiful, though the portion was quite small. Overall, the vibe was nice.

Awesome pub with a lot of dark wood, leather chairs and pictures hanging on the walls. Personable staff but my sirloin had a lot of gristle.

Beautiful place, efficient service, food of unpredictable and very heterogeneous quality - you eat better in Paris for 1.5 times less at lunchtime in a comparable setting. Not a place I would return to.

Excellent visit. Lovely table overlooking the city. Food was both delicious and excellent value with a varied menu offering some really different options. Would definitely recommend

Front-of-House and Kitchen staff were so welcoming and attentive. They made our celebration even more special. HUGE thanks to you all for making our day so happy! We look forward to our next visit.

Service could have been better and a 12.5% service charge

Really good service, and no rushing us away after we had finished. Food was great, except could have been a little warmer, but then we could have asked to have it heated up and didnt, so thats on us. Definitely would recommend and go again.

It was a buzzing Saturday late afternoon when we first visited here, it was crazy busy with loads of groups of people. It’s relaxed and comfortable with plenty of comfortable seating areas as well as standing areas with poser tables and high seats.

Awesome venue for drinks and eata

Met here for a family celebration. Lovely setting and beautiful decor. Comfortable areas to sit and dog friendly. Food was tasty and we were able to enjoy a long leisurely lunch and coffees in the lounge. We liked it so much, we went back later for another drink as it suited us all. Highly recommend

We had heard great things about this restaurant from friends, but we left disappointed. Service was not great, there is no area to check in with a host so we stood near the bar waiting to be seated while multiple servers walked by. Once seated we never saw the same server twice so we had no idea who to flag down. The food was also just okay, not impressed for the price we paid.

We are big fans of Brunning and Price pubs, and this one is just another level of brilliance! They always choose nice buildings! This one has amazing high ceilings and an amazing restaurant. The food was top notch, only bettered by the staff who were all fantastic.

Ambience, service & food 5* We enjoyed our anniversary evening meal. We ouldn't fault it & would highly recommend. Centrally located comfortable & reasonably priced.

A few good things: good vibe in a beautiful dining room. Some of the dishes worked well. The beef feather was perfectly cooked and brimming with flavour. The pork porchetta also very well done. However, braised lamb shoulder was undercooked, the meat should fall off the bone, but it needed a knife to cut it free. The pork rib eye was slightly overcooked and dry, and not juicy as it should be. Service was efficient but not friendly. Overall £200 for four felt a little too much for the quality.

We visited the Architect for a birthday meal whilst visiting Bath for a few days and it was lovely. The dining room is full of traditional features, a huge room full of cosy booths, beautiful lighting and tucked away tables. The bar area is equally as nice but a bit smaller and they have a nice conservatory that runs along the front where we sat and had drinks afterwards. The menu isn't huge in comparison to some places we've been too, but I felt there was enough choice for our party. When it came, it was beautifully presented and all the meals we had tasted lovely. It was very reasonable in price for the size of the dish around £16 to £20,unless you have the steak which was a bit more i believe, but we've paid a lot more for a lot less in a lot of restaurants. After, we moved into the conservatory and had some cocktails which again were competitively priced. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would definitely return.

Had the Sunday roast. Both our beefs was incredibly tough and sinewy. Took an inordinate amount of chewing to the point where we had to drink water to get it down. The roast potatoes were very dry as well. We ordered a starter to share which was forgotten and we had to remind them about it when the mains arrived. It's very, very substandard food for the price. To be honest, I'd have expected better even from a carvery.

Service was great from being greeted with a smile through to when we left. Food was lovely I had then chicken while friends had the honey and chilli flatbread and fillet steak sandwich and chips. All our meals were fantastic and the dining area was really to enjoy lunch with a glass of wine

Great bar in centre of town, delicious merlot and great choice of draft! Not cheap but great value given quality of environment, highly recommend!

Avoid - we certainly will! This was intended to be a pleasant experience but instead we experienced a long wait, poor cooking and a breath taking level of rudeness from the young waitress. I hesitated a little before choosing the haddock fish cake which arrived after a wait of at least 30 minutes. On first sight I expressed surprise at the very dark colouration of the crumb and considered very carefully before asking that it be returned to the kitchen. It should not have been a difficult decision to make as I had determined that I would have stopped the cooking before it reached dark rather than golden brown. I asked my husband if he agreed with me and as he did I said that it would need to go back to the kitchen. The waitress responded by saying ‘there’s no need to be rude!’ I was completely taken aback- any criticism in that situation is feedback for the kitchen not the waitress unless she cooked it herself. My only interaction with her was to ask earlier if the colouration was standard for the dish? I found a more senior waitress to express my concern about the rudeness of the waitress and she seemed quite shocked. We received no further clarification however about the outcome until my husband found the same senior waitress who told us replacement fish cakes were on their way but there were 15 orders ahead of us. This information lead us to conclude we had to leave due to time constraints . At no stage were we offered an apology for the rudeness of the young waitresses rather we were treated in a very off hand way by the senior waitress who failed to up date us after my complaint. All interactions on our part were conducted in a neutral tone and we can only assume some ‘spin’ which resulted in a very poor experience for us. I can only hope that this experience falls below the normal standard for your business but for us, the first and last visit I think.

Mi experiencia en el Arquitecto fue de 10 / 10. No solo era la comida increíble, sino que fue hecho mejor por el personal, especialmente Joe - él era muy atento e hizo que mi amigo y yo nos sintiéramos muy bienvenidos. Realmente recomiendo el pollo asado el domingo y el gofre de la selva negra.

This restaurant has an amazing atmosphere. It is beautiful and comfortable inside. The service was also very good but I would consider the food adequate.

I had the pleasure of being served by Chanelle during my visit to The Architect, and I must say she made the experience truly exceptional. Chanelle is an absolute gem—hardworking, attentive, and with a personality that radiates warmth and positivity. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. Not only was Chanelle amazing, but the food was absolutely outstanding as well. Every dish was beautifully prepared and packed with flavor—it truly elevated the dining experience. From start to finish, everything was just perfect. I can’t recommend Chanelle and The Architect enough. Her dedication to great service, combined with the incredible food, made for an unforgettable visit. I’ll definitely be back!

A lovely experience all round. We were so impressed with the service from Isabelle, who was so knowledgeable and helpful about allergens. And Jimmy, who very quickly dealt with a small issue we had in a great manner. The restaurant should be very proud to have these guys representing them. Great gluten free options, we will be back! Visité con mis padres para la cena de mi padre temprano 50 cumpleaños el martes y debo decir que el personal es muy amable, cálido y servicial. El interior del restaurante es muy clásico, elegante y ambiente. La comida era muy buena! ¡Tenía sopa de tomate y albahaca para empezar y debo decir 10/10! La textura, el sabor; combinado con el pan mantequilla crujiente, todo perfecto. Para mi principal tenía la pluma de res estofada y era agradable. La carne de res pasó la prueba del tenedor, muy tierna, y sabrosa. Toda la comida se combinó bien. Tomé un brownie clásico con helado para mi pudín y no pude fallarlo. Muy rico. Mi padre estaba muy contento con sus comidas. Me alegró que sus gambas vinieran cortadas y des-cagadas. Mi madre estaba contenta con sus decisiones también. La costilla de cerdo no estaba seca, estaba húmeda con una ligera salinidad. En general, tuvimos una experiencia increíble y sin duda recomendaría visitar. ¡La sopa realmente me sorprendió!

Not a great choice but liked what we had,

Visited here on Sunday 16th, welcomed and seated, all was well until the food was served ? My partners Very fatty lamb.. which was kindly taken away and exchanged …. Eventually it was returned minus the extras we had paid for, after I had finished my warm roast! Very disappointed. They did take money off paying the bill but it was very over priced for what was served anyway,

We stopped for dinner, not knowing Bath , as I liked the look of the place. Great decision. What a find. It was beautiful inside, with a great atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and friendly, in spite of being busy. The wines were absolutely superb and the food was beyond expectation. I had a spiced lentil & cauliflower pie with tender broccoli and Bombay potatoes, which was wonderful and my partner enjoyed a succulent rack of lamb. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here and would highly recommend it.

Stunning interior! A fresh, modern take on gorgeous period features. Armchair seating in the front room is very cozy and there is beautiful views of the city. There is also substantial dining space and a lovely conservatory.

What a lovely place, the service was impeccable, haven't had a meal that good in ages. Thank you! We'll definitely stop off at The Architect for a spot of lunch next time we visit Bath.

Great vibes and an interesting selection of regional wines, ciders, and gins. Several rooms and a conservatory with a mixture of Georgian and 1920s atmosphere. Somewhat questionable service ;-)

Fantastic food, service and setting. I ordered a Bloody Mary by way of a starter, asked for it to be "very spicy" and received the BEST Bloody Mary I have ever tasted, anywhere in the world. Bearing in mind that you have such skilled barstaff, might it be an idea to offer a few different appetisers?

We had a wonderful lunch with family to celebrate my son’s graduation, a lovely table in beautiful surroundings. Food was fresh, hot and delicious. Lovely friendly service. Whole heartedly recommend.

First time eating here after having been taken over, great large rooms, really lovely staff and the food was great as well. We were impressed.

I’m afraid it was one of the worst roasts we’ve ever had. Overcooked, bland meat - hard potatoes and hardly any vegetables. Service was slow and they didn’t even ask how our meal was, or check if everything was fine. Wouldn’t recommend I’m afraid.

Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, great service. Couldn’t fault it. The triple chocolate brownie was phenomenal. It’s a good thing we don’t live in Bath or I’d be enormous.

Visited for dinner on a couple of occasions and the food was very good and the staff very friendly and attentive. It's an interesting building with lots of character. The food was served quickly, but I didnt feel I was being rushed. Some of the tables are a little cramped and it's a popular location, but you can choose when booking online which part of the restaurant you want to be in.

We had a wonderful meal in this magnificent setting and our host Nicola could not have been more helpful. My mother was in a wheelchair and every effort was made to make her visit as comfortable as possible, nothing was too much trouble. The food and drink were excellent! Nicola was extremely friendly, giving us a full review of the history of the building, including giving us information pamphlets and made sure that ur stay was a treat. We would highly recommend a visit!

Beautiful place from the outside and well located which explains why we tried the place without any recommendation. Service good but the food was average for the price we pay.

Work night out, but still great service and lovely food. Will come back for another visit without work !

Great place, a weirdo or two though

I have only used the restaurant and have been quite a few times with small and larger groups. The welcome, table service and food has always been excellent. It's out go to place in Bath when we want somewhere fancy, but you can be yourself. Beautiful inside with plenty of space between the tables.

Party of four and baby wandering around Bath wondering where best to have a pub lunch - chose the architect for reasons of exhaustion more than design and glad we did. They were great accomodating the pram and baby, put us in the orangery which is a lovely space. The interior is nicely decorated and the food was generous of portion and really great quality - we all really enjoyed our lunch - I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for a hearty, good quality meal in Bath.

1st rate. Cracking menu and very able to manage large work parties without thr normal deadly delays. The watering staff were all over it. Very impressive!

Great atmosphere and great food and beer in a characterful building, ideally situated in the centre of bath.

Having first eaten in the restaurant here at lunchtime a couple of times in 2023, I hadn’t been that impressed with the food. However on two recent visits where I’ve dined in the bar area, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the improvement in the menu and food. Today I came for Sunday lunch and both the food and service was top notch. The roast turkey was fabulous as was the banoffee trifle.

We called for drinks and ended up ordering from the light bites menu. Food was delicious, as were the drinks. A huge thanks to Will for keeping us a lovely table and for the fantastic service. Beautiful setting enhanced by the lovely Christmas decorations. Would absolutely recommend.

Whilst staying in Bath, I popped into The Architect lovely atmosphere, they also had some nice Ales on tap, staff were very friendly & helpful

This place wasn't very good the second time around. Very loud and very hot not relaxing either and at almost 5 pound each for a cup of tea ! Loads of empty tables at 4pm was told they are food only ! Everyone was shoved into room by entrance wooden floor and high ceiling. Was horrid the noise level

What a lovely place to spend a few hours, the filet steak sandwich was amazing and service on a busy wet afternoon was excellent and attentive. A shout out to Will and Ffion for a charming dining experience also beautiful Christmas Tree !!

There is no ramp for easy access...

We visited The Architect last Sunday based on a recommendation for their Sunday roast. Despite arriving around 2:30 pm, the friendly manager managed to find us a table without a reservation. As my sister is celiac, we informed the staff beforehand, and they were very helpful in accommodating her dietary needs. She had a wide range of gluten-free options, and both of us thoroughly enjoyed delicious Sunday roasts (chicken and lamb). The staff were friendly, attentive, and made our dining experience truly enjoyable. We would highly recommend it and can't wait to return! Thank you - Gracias! Two happy customers :)

Great atmosphere, a gastro pub in a prestigious building. Foods very good, and our service was with a smile - very cheery. Building and services are well appointed and well kept. Worth considering when eating in Bath.

Lovely pub (we will try the restaurant next time as the food coming out to the tables all looked amazing & piping hot). Couldn’t fault the beer or wine options. Lots of cozy places to sit. Not fussy. Loads of natural light.

The food took some time to come. But everyone commented on how good it was. The service was great too. Thank you so much for a great afternoon.

Had to wait over 45minutes for food to arrive and for 2 of the tables meal to be wrong and their way to fix it was to take the wrong food and put the same meat (being the duck) onto another plate with the correct extras. This is disappointing and disgusting that they would do this as you would rather just have a whole new meal. The light above the table kept changing how bright it was changing between dim and bright. It’s very expensive for the “quality” you get and what you get. Would not really recommend as it is very overpriced and overhyped for what this place is. Along with this servers avoided the table which is disgraceful.

We visit here 4-5 times a year and always the same great service ,great food & atmosphere they are so consistent which is why he kept going back

The Architect is a delightful bar and restaurant. From the attentive staff to the lovely decor everything was excellent. The food was amazing with great portion sizes for the price. Would definitely recommend!

A genuine surprise! I wondered (on reading the menu online) if it might be a bit "poncy cooking " I.e. a bit expensive and you still fancy a burger at the end of it.... BUT I WAS WRONG! It's BRILLIANT... I just had an outstanding delicious lunch, excellent service, great beer... even good music selection. Treat yourself... you won't be disappointed.
