Nicely done up garden great bar staff great just a bit expensive

Known by its locals but is very welcoming to all. Food is good, service is lovely. Use this pub now and again so not a regular. But it's always the first place I would go if I want to go for a local drink.

First visit and first impressions, and the last visit. Two small glasses of wine £14:00 shocking. Potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. We're coming out cremated. £13:00 each. Toilets not kept clean. Somebody had spat in the Sinks. Turned my stomach. 3 dinars was sharing their meal at the table with a dog.. Moved outside away from the drunks at the bar. Chatted to two nice ladies outside which rescued the situation. This will not be my local.

Highly recommend, a lovely evening had by all for a special family birthday. Food, service and staff all wonderful and very accommodating to allergy requirements too.

Don't order the scampi. Oven cooked. Dry and hard and tasteless. The worst scampi I've had in any pub.

Wer went to agree a Sunday roast and we definitely weren't left disappointed. Service was quick and very professional. Sunday roast was absolutely delicious. We definitely will go back. Really nice atmosphere too.

If you charge £5.00 for a basic bottle of beer as a pub, it doesn’t matter what else you’re doing! Ridiculous pricing on drinks.

Great Sunday roast and hospitality! Nice selection of wines and well kept beer. Food is a hidden gem and the staff can’t do enough for you. Highly recommend

Great (& very scrumptious food! (If a little too big someotime )

From the minute you enter its like the scene from an American Werewolf in London where the whole pub falls silent. Very much an establishment for 'locals'. We ordered in a group of 12 as 2 separate orders. Half the food came out, half didn't. When enquiring about where the missing meals we're, we we're greeted by silence. Add to this the random looks from the staff behind the bar that we might have the audacity to ask where the food (that we had paid for) was? The rest of our party had finished their meals and we had the indignity of having to eat our food whilst the others made polite conversation between themselves. If you ever find your way in Shirley, I would probably advise finding aomewhere a bit more hospitable and welcoming.

I recently reviewed the apple tree at 4* now it a 5 from me! The vegetarian roasts are really good. Service was amazing. ( The lady with red hair goes above and beyond ) It's family-friendly with a great atmosphere.

Cute pub with a good atmosphere. Has a pool table, clean toilets, tasty Christmas menu and friendly staff. Went for a birthday party around Christmas so there was live music.

Personally, this is one of the most classy pub is the local area. I know it had it rough times in the pass, we can't forget that. But the staff showed us enjoyment, love and most importantly trust. The let us play pool and turned up the lights!! The music was top rating. Can saying anyhing wrong about it ever tune was hitting the vibe. I have not tried the food. Do you do food Mr Apple tree? Long story short... Lovely design, lovely and caring staff and good drinks I will be bring people back to experience this place as its what a pup should be.. My only worry it gets too popular!!!!!!!!

The Tribute was the best ale I've had here (others slightly off their best, though the pub has tried a decent variety). TV screens showing multiple sports (and both World Cup final group games).

We had a Sunday lunch and the food was delicious with good sized portions. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Family and dog friendly. Looking forward to trying the Saturday menu on our next visit.

Great place for drink or a meal

Excellent Otter bitter, generous baguettes - we had the chicken and the fish finger ones - and lovely chewy halloumi fries with chilli dip.

Attended a wake here. The food provided was very good and plentiful. The pub itself was very clean and outside area had tables, chairs and umbrellas. We have not eaten a meal here but are planning to go back in the near future.

We thought it was about time to return to our local pub after all the restrictions and a spell of illness. We arrived early evening with only a few customers in. Waited patiently to be served but obviously we had turned invisible. A friend, neighbour and regular tried to help without success. After 15 minutes we gave up, sigh!.. ..After 3 or 4 month we tried the Apple Tree again. Got served immediately and the barman kindly offered to fetch some water for our dog. I'm pleased really as I like the pub usually and they always seem to have 1 good real ale on tap!

Lovely staff, decor, food. Definitely recommended. Suited us for a meal with elderly relatives. Sport to watch if you want but not obtrusive.

Door staff pleasant on the way in. Warmly greeted at the bar as I asked for them to bin a dirty tissue. Nice space, recently refurbished. Slight aroma of vomit at table 16. Staff good, if few in number. Service good, drink range reasonable. Live music. Liked it. Only gripe - kitchen shut quite early (21.00). No opportunity to check the food options. No food menu. No drinks menu either, so staff had to go check what was as available. Will be back, for sure.

The quintessential pubexperience

I have officially found my new favourite local! We came for Sunday lunch the other weekend and had our choice of table as we were amongst the first in. The service was great - friendly, helpful, lovely bar staff who couldn't do enough for us. We ordered 3 courses, all of which were delicious and had incredibly generous servings. So much food for the price! Plus there are board games and packs of cards to keep you entertained whilst you wait. We will absolutely be back here!

Quiet night but 4 teams to play I-Pad quiz. First time for me and it wont be the last. Enjoyable

Had a fabulous Sunday lunch with my daughter and husband. Food was plentiful and flavoursome. The food could do with being hotter. Luckily the roast potatoes and gravy was hot. I meant to ask if they could microwave my lunch for a minute but didn't. Over the weekend, they have bands which is good entertainment. Would recommend a visit.

Great Open Mic Night at the Apple Tree, saw a lot of mates I've not seen for a long time. Super friendly atmosphere. Next open mic night in two weeks time. Every other Thursday.

Visited here for the first time, shortly after the covid restrictions lifted for good (July 2021!). Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The service was friendly, processional and efficient. The food was absolutely fantastic - we were quite surprised because the portions were large (especially the kids meals) and very high quality. Obviously freshly cooked, with hand battered cod and super high quality sausages, as well as a good portion of peas. Proper pub food. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely dinner with the kids after school. Children’s meal portions are a very generous size. Lovely burger with proper meat. The deputy manager served us, forgot to get his name but I think he is Irish. His service was exceptional. Will definitely make this our local.

Trip down memory lane went with family to toast our recently departed father .we used to go in there when it was called the Goat . Nicely refurbished now . Being a camera man a lack of real ales or ipa's but food seemed OK. Some of my group ate. Nice to see it up and running

Lovely decor as newly decorated but certain things could be better. Service is ok but service is inexperienced. Food is ok - not fantastic. Roasts are nice but wouldn’t rush there specifically. Hopefully things will improve with time.

Excellent roast dinner - good size portion - 3 slices of pork, roast pots, large yorkshire pud, 3 other veg, gravy & sauces. Very friendly landlord & landlady. Will be visiting again.

A really wonderful new pub. Brand new Irish couple running it. No aggro from other customers, lovely friendly staff. Completely socially distanced set-up with a waitress working the floor to get your more beer. Only went in on a whim and was impressed!

This was my first visit to the Apple Tree pub since it was transformed from it's previous incarnation, The Goat. I was pleased to find that real ale on draught is available, and today they had Timothy Taylor Landlord. It was a superb pint at a reasonable price.The staff were pleasant and polite, the bar is properly set up for this new covid era with plenty of hand sanitiser stations, and we were asked to provide our contact details (a good thing) Highly recommended.

Had lunch here yesterday with a gang for the 1st time and impressed with the new format as never been here before but aware of its history.straight into mains of hunters chicken,sausage and mash and a ceasars salad.all well cooked and presented, arrived together and was delish. Good looking local little pub. I hope it does well and the Sunday roast is highly recommended

We held my grandads wake here. Service, food, drinks and not to forget, Mark, Caroline and the team were awesome. They turned a sad family day into a lovely and memorable (in a good way) send off. Very grateful for them allowing us to hold a wake, even in this difficult time. The food got ALOT of positive comments!! Thanks again from all the family. You couldn't have run it better.

This pub has been refurbished it looks good, the staff were helpful. Had a good selection of beers, had a menu but didn't try anything. May be tempted next time.
