Fantastic night for my surprise 30th birthday party. The staff were polite and cheerful and the whole weekend was just amazing. Stayed in the annexe and what a lovely place and well looked after. This family run business will be recommended by myself and my family and friends. Will be back soon that is for sure.

I visited Apple Tree this morning with my swimming group. We regularly swim in the lake and thought we would have a group Christmas breakfast. We were not disappointed. I am a fussy eater and often find it tricky to get breakfast options I really enjoy, usually ending up with a disappointing egg on toast. At Apple Tree there are numerous options and you are also able to pick your own items from an extensive choice. The food was delicious, not at all greasy and well worth the £5.95 I paid. (I was so excited to have fried bread for the first time in many years!) The staff were friendly and efficient, the service was fast and the view of the lake is very pleasant. I would definitely recommend and intend to return - maybe the Sunday roast next time...?

We came as a 3 generation family for Sunday carvery. We will be back! The food was lovely, lots of choices and plenty of it. A couple of surprise extra items! Great staff and service in a lovely setting at a reasonable price. No negatives at all.

After driving home for 5 hours we decided to pop to The Apple Tree for a take away for dinner. They had curry ok as specials and happily did them as a take away. The chicken Madras was absolutely the best I have ever had, beautiful flavours mixed with spice and a creeping heat. If you haven’t visited this wonderful family run restaurant then I wholeheartedly recommend that you do. A wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and the most beautiful food. Thank you so much guys.

I chose the Apple Tree for a celebratory birthday Sunday lunch with my family. What a fabulous choice! From the moment our party of 12 walked in, until the time we left we were looked after really well. The food was amazing and the service friendly and helpful. Thank you everyone. Being a northerner, I have been trying to find somewhere to have a Sunday dinner for ages whilst I'm in the area. All the other locations had frozen vegetables, roast spuds or frozen meat. I had an amazing Sunday Dinner. The food is all freshly cooked and the settings, scenery and staff are all impeccable. I cannot rave about this place enough. Reggie and the staff make you feel so welcome and the food is pure heaven. The brekky is amazing also. Truly spoilt for choice. This is my new local for brekky's and Sunday dinners.

In a nutshell, portions very small. Katsu curry, just one small mini fillet of chicken on a bed of rice with a small side salad. Also, a noisy table of other customers was not addressed by the owners, having been told he would do so. Spoilt our evening, as the noise from their table was very loud. Obviously the owners didn’t want to upset a table of eleven, when we were only a table of four. Would not return, felt ripped off on portion size and attitude of owners.

My wife and I attended a family wedding at this venue and we found the location stunning. It sits beside a lake where we saw water ski-ing during our short stay. The carvery dinner was delicious. Overall an excellent venue.

My family and I were staying in Braintree and came across this wonderful place on the 4th June. So pleased we found it.. The staff are just lovely and the venue is set with lake views. The food was amazing!!! Brilliant! We had a 2.5hrs drive home, and never needed to stop for lunch! We were made to feel so welcome! Would definitely return.

Sunday lunch again with my 2 (over-18) kids - terrific value and again we could only manage the main course - new year resolution to get into training to fit in pudding in 2023! Nice merlot rounded the roast dinner off well. Friendly staff, and down-to-earth no pretensions atmosphere. Would happily go there for Xmas, but was booked out months ago😢

Our Bowls Club had a private BBQ last Saturday. The food was excellent and plentiful. Staff were great as always. The only thing lacking was the sunshine. Dodging the showers we were able to pop out now and then.

We ventured up to have breakfast at the Apple Tree. They were closed for a wedding the weekend they said they could substitute our eggs for avocados , when we visited they didnt have avocados which was a shame as we would have preferred that to the fried slice which was the only part of the breakfast i didn't like. Albeit it wasn't listed on the set menu so cant complain. We were attended to straight away by the friendly lady who answered the phone when we called. She was just as friendly in seating us. She cleared a table near the window so we could look out on the lake which I thought was very kind of her. Its service like this which makes up for any shortfalls in the food. `Enjoyed the breakfast and we would try the pancakes and pizza options another time. Will definitely return in main because of the lovely service. Thank you!

Having never eaten at The Apple Tree before, we booked to go for Sunday lunch, based on the reviews. The restaurant had nice views over the lake, and the staff were attentive and pleasant, however, the carvery was very disappointing....ample food available, meat was nice, however, not sure how long potatoes had been standing but they tasted oily, and the vegetables and yorkshires were stodgy, and bland.

Spent a lovely evening here as a party of 40ish. We went for the Thursday special bbq menu. We loved it all! From the word go, the staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The food was freshly cooked and delicious. The surroundings picturesque and restaurant clean, well presented and welcoming. What a bargain! Would definitely recommend to one and all. Always a pleasure to visit The Apple Tree. The staff are friendly and work very hard, The food is always good and great value for money. Directly located next to Goldfield Lake. Great location especially on a sunny day. Nice seating area in their garden looking out over the lake. Good choice of wines and beers too.

We have been to the Apple Tree on a number of occasions and always find the the staff really friendly,the service is excellent, and the food is lovely,on this occasion we went there for breakfast and was not disappointed it was well cooked hot very enjoyable and excellent value, it's a lovely place to eat.

Booked on the spur last minute. This was one of the best value for money carveries that you could hope for. Great location looking over Gosfield lake, a must in the summer. Don’t be put off by the outside both front and back need a spruce up, but simple and clean inside and as I said earlier a very god value Sunday lunch, I will definitely return

If you are looking to Chill, and enjoy a snack overlooking the amazing Gosfield Lake, this is the place for you. The Sunday Buffet is also well priced and excellent with two sittings. All good and drinks are reasonable prices with outstanding service.

I have been coming to the Apple Tree for nearly a year now and it only just occurred to me that I have never written a review to show how fantastic it really is. The Apple Tree is an absolute favourite of ours, we have never had a bad meal or bad service, it’s always above and beyond. The team at Apple Tree have catered to lots of events for myself and my family including, my grandmas wake, my family Sunday lunches and large groups of friends for birthdays and other special events. This little place has made a big impression on me. Perfect for a beer in the garden overlooking the lake in the summer or a hearty homemade meal in the cold winter. Nothing is too much trouble and the love and hard work everyone there puts in shines through. Thankyou for so many lovely evenings and sunny days. Keep it up you really are smashing it !

My son and grandson were up from London, so I treated them to Sunday lunch. Like me, they were amazed how fabulous the Apple Tree is. Fantastic food beautifully cooked and so much of it, never been to a carvery like it before. Great staff, nothing is to much trouble for them and provide an excellent service.

What a wonderful little discovery we made recently! The Apple Tree is a superbly run restaurant catering for all ages and appetites. They do different buffet evenings including a pizza/pasta night which we thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfast was equally as lovely and we look forward to trying the carvery. Value for money is fantastic and when the weather is nice, we can't wait to sit outside overlooking the beautiful lake. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. This is one of those places (local for us) that you really want to succeed so we hope lots of people try it!

Recently attended a camping weekend at Gosfield Lake resort, this family run restaurant is a little gem. Fantastic food, fantastic service and staff. Amazing full English breakfast, Indian curry night on the Friday and Sunday roast carvery. The beef was so tender, plenty of fresh vegetables and choice of meats. Food is plentiful and hot. Choose from 1,2 or 3 courses, great price 2 courses £11.

We went to the Apple Tree for breakfast for the first time and was so pleasantly surprised by how lovely it looked inside. I had a cooked breakfast for £4.95 which kept me happy until dinner time and my partner had a delicious bacon baguette for £2.95. Nice view of the lake, especially if you decide to eat out on the decking and so competitively priced. The restaurant offers pizzas, burgers, curry and carvery depending on the day of the week. Highly recommended. We will be back.

We have just had the most wonderful Indian take away from The Apple Tree this evening. The restaurant looked amazing, the view over the lake was superb. The service was second to none and the food was lovely. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you so much. Can't wait to come back.

Great place for Sunday carvery. So much food had to stop the guy putting all on my plate and I very rarely do that! Not a fan of carvery but this was very good. Food was very well cooked and no soggy veg. If I had any criticism then it would be that the food could have been hotter. Don't let the outside appearance put you off as it does look rather bland. Inside is very nicely done out and the view over gosfield lake is fabulous three courses with a very passable bottle of wine for two came to just under £40. Run by a local family with very happy, helpful staff. Will photocopy the flyer and hand it out to friends as this place is highly recommended We will go back.

The title says it all... the location is breathtaking the restaurant over looks the beautiful gosfield lake. Food was great and bar has lots to offer.
