The Tea Rooms in Braintree

Visited a few weeks ago. A fantastic tea room. Delicious cakes and yummy sandwiches. Well done ladies!

Excellent value for money, lovely friendly staff and generous portions

The Tea Rooms hosted a retirement afternoon tea. Absolutely delicious food, service was amazing. Staff are so friendly. Highly recommend this venue for private function and also just to have a catch up with friends.

Absolutely lovely afternoon tea for 27 people to celebrate a retirement for work colleague. LJ was super accomodating and went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great time. The food was fantastic, plenty of it and service was excellent. Thanks so much.

9 of us met for afternoon tea as we had cousins over from Australia. Everything was first class. Fresh sandwiches , scones, Victoria sponge, mini trifle and so much more. Absolutely yummy! Would highly recommend

The nicest baked potato I've eaten. Soft and piping hot. On my 1st visit I had leek&potato soup. Homemade and delicious. 2 visits in 3 days and I'll be going back.

My "go to" place for a lunchtime snack whenever I'm in Witham. Great food, good service, and always busy, which is a testament to its success

Rainy day in Witham and needed a sugar boost! This cafe doesn’t look very exciting from outside and there’s no menu in the window, which I think is a mistake. However, I had the best Carrot Cake I’ve had for a long time and a really lovely hot chocolate with mandatory cream. Friend slightly less impressed with her scone and jam/cream. Said it had been heated up a little too much making it chewy and crumbly. Certainly she had trouble eating it as it fell apart. Nice toilets though had to ask for loo roll. On the main road, space for a wheelchair. Do I recommend? Definitely Will I go back? If I’m in Witham

We had a 25th wedding anniversary and The Tea Rooms did our catering. Very professional and everything looked and tasted wonderful. Would highly recommend them.

Coffee was good and omelette and beans devoured with lust Service was slow and the cafe wasnt full. Entered premises clean shaven when served I had a full beard.

Really wanted to try this and had seen good reviews but sadly very disappointed. I do not mind paying top prices for good quality and good service, sadly this was top prices, for average food and poor service. I am always happy to tip for good service, but hate the imposed 10% service charge, it feels like theft. All positive I can say is, the coffee was nice. The toilets are not very clean, and the seat was missing in the Gents. Just poor all round, and will not be going back.

I recently popped in for breakfast on the way home from dropping off car to garage. Friendly chatty staff, nice atmosphere, hot food & drink. Didn't have to wait long for food.

Have visited The Tea Rooms several times now for a quick cake and a drink. Lovely friendly service and good food, with a homely atmosphere. Clean, well laid out, comfortable and nicely decorated. No price lists on show; very strange. We couldn't see any prices anywhere, neither inside nor outside the premises.

Stopped here enroute from Norfolk back home to Eastbourne, lovely tea room with very friendly and genuine service and tasty food, will return when we next do the same trip!

Started visiting this little tea room after my mum moved too Witham, the food is lovely and fresh and generous portions, the owner LJ is lovely and roasts are yummy in fact it's all yummy 😋😋😋😋 look forward too my weekly visit here

We haven’t managed to eat here before, we did a visit during covid to collect afternoon tea (which was amazing) but finally got round to a proper visit. Was just as good if not better, 3 of us had panini’s and my mum had the coronation quiche. All 4 plates went back wiped clean! The food is fresh, made to order, the team are very helpful, the cakes are delicious (according to my Dad and daughter) they also cater for gluten free. Highly recommend!

Went with my friend and really enjoyed the home cooked food. Staff friendly and the tearoom has a nice relax atmosphere. Had the Bakewell tart for dessert and I really enjoyed it

Decent food, nothing spectacular. The staff however were pleasant and attentive. You can find better value elsewhere in the town.

Went a few time before and no problem. But went there last month with my partner and was treated very different… not greeted, yelled at across the room to find a table. Didn’t give us a menu and waited long time to be served. They served people that came in after us.. we walked out in the end and ate else where! Lost a customer for good!!!’

Great local cafe. Food delicious and staff very friendly

Rude staff, terrible service. Didn’t show us to our table but shouted at us from across the room to take a seat. Did not give us menus, I had to go up to the counter and ask for them. We ended up walking out because we sat down for 15mins and they never even bother taking our drinks order and continued ignoring us, whilst they continued seating and serving people who came in after us.

Run by a lovely set of girls. Had a BLT, and slice of carrot cake - both perfect. Great setting on Witham High Street - perfect for anyone either solo or in groups to visit. Made to feel very welcome. Happy to recommend to anyone.

Amazing a lovely setting with fantastic food that is always fresh, cakes are amazing! There is always a nice selection on the specials board too. The staff are always friendly and pleasant. My first choice for some lunch or just a slice of cake and a cuppa well done to all and look Forward to my next visit!

Ordered an afternoon tea for a Hen Party. Great communication with the team, food ready on time and more than enough for all of us. Everyone enjoyed the sandwiches, cakes and scones along with the small touches added. Would definitely recommend The Tea Rooms

Wow! Never fails, what scrumptious food again! Wanted to have something special to celebrate the start of Christmas in our house and this was perfect, pigs in blankets, sausage rolls, mince pies, Christmas cake, trifle, cranberry and orange scones, cranberry and brie sandwiches to name just a few items on the platter! Wonderful cakes & great service.

Had walked past The Tea Rooms many times but had never tried it out, so decided to give it a go. Had a nice omelette and tasty coffee. There is a 10% service charge if the bill is £10 or more.

The food was yummy, cake was delicious and staff friendly. Prices was very reasonable and we can't wait to return again.

A fun little cafe, three of us walked into a on a whim and ended up thoroughly charmed by the cuteness of it all. Had some home made cake wedges that left us completely stuffed. Definitely returning.

A bit of a gem in Witham, lovely food, great service. The interior has been beautifully fitted out and they have been very careful to ensure they comply with Covid restrictions (I visited before the most recent easing so I don't know what is in place now).

Sandwiches and scones were extremely stale, service was very poor and it seemed as though it was all done in a huff & hurry. The lady that served us seemed very cold towards us. Overall not a very welcoming place or enjoyable food.

Yesterday I had a surprise delivery of a cream tea for myself and my husband from the tea rooms sent from a friend as a gift for the arrival of our new baby, it was delicious, sandwiches were fresh and a huge variety for us both, the scones were amazing and the cakes were all wonderful and the biscuits even had our new baby’s name on them! And all topped off with a bottle of Prosecco! A fantastic gift that we really appreciated and felt very pampered. Thank you x

Wonderful tea room. Only used it since lockdown on a takeaway basis but I can't fault them! I've had two of their afternoon tea boxes and a Mothers Day savoury scone box. The scones are to die for- massive, yummy and taste so good with a quick blast in the microwave to feel like they are fresh out the over again :) Staff are super friendly, reasonable prices and amazing food!! Would totally recommend to anyone looking for great foon, good service and to support a local bussiness!!

Lisa Jane is extremely talented and every time we receive our afternoon tea takeaways we are never disappointed. The portion sizes are exceptional and nothing is too much. The flavours of sandwiches are varied, as well as the cakes so there is lots to choose from. Our favourite is always the scones... as they are so big! It is great for families and we have been living off of them during lockdown. It is very easy and hassle free to order and collect for takeaway. I highly recommended the Tea Rooms (post lockdown) as the shop is very friendly and clean and always a lovely atmosphere. 10/10 and can’t fault. Thanks L-J and all the ladies at the Tea Rooms ❤️

Another brilliant take away! My husband treated us too the savoury scones box, as well as the quiche box for Mother's Day. Everything was delicious. The scones lovely and crumbly. The quiches full to the brim with filling. Can't wait till everything reopens so we can visit
