The Apple Tree in South Bucks

Most dishes on the menu not available at 7 30 on a Thursday night!! I ordered the steak and Malbec pie !!! Should have been called the tough pie crust and gristle pie!!!! Any steak was in hiding !! Staff were ok and very apologetic! Not good value for money food.

We visited here for lunch yesterday table booked a fortnight prior for 2pm. We were celebrating a birthday service and food very mediocre but while we were still eating desserts we were informed we needed to move to the bar area because there was a large party coming in - nothing had been mentioned either when we made the booking or when we arrived - we refused to move and asked to speak to the manager who was completely gutless ! Another couple who were also celebrating a birthday were also asked to leave - 6 very unhappy customers 🤬 the other couple asked me to mention their Server Harry who definitely went above and beyond and was more helpful than the manager We certainly will vote with our feet and avoid this place in future - if you want good food and good service for a celebration do not book this pub,

Nissan was our waitress was lovely, attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and atmosphere great and no one bothered us when we stayed after our coffee! All in all a lovely restaurant 😋

Food was good. Starters took ages to arrive as did the drinks. Then we were almost rushed with our starters as the mains were ready :( They turned off the hot chocolate machine at 2130 which meant no hot chocolate but we could have tea. Our visit last night was OK, but previously it has been exceptional. Please don't turn off the hot drinks machine until all customers have finished eating. If you are going to be slow delivering our starters and drinks don't then rush us for the main course with the threat of our dinner overcooking under the lamps. That is your job to manage not the customers. Last night could have been better.

Sunday lunch pretty awful. Started in the garden for pre lunch drinks but had to go to the bar and ask staff to clean tables as disgusting. Assigned pleasant table in restaurant but service was non existent, had to go to the bar twice during meal to get attention. Meal roast beef x 2. Soggy re heated roast potato's, parnips not roasted (boiled). Three thin slices roast beef so not very generous. Had to ask for more gravy as non existant. Meal barely warm and pretty bland in taste. Drinks expensive. Peroni & glass house wine £14.75! Will def not recommend.if

The pub is well located if you are going to Gerrards cross. Staff are pleasant and the place still has a good pub feeling. Nice sunny to sit out and enjoy a drink.

My husband, daughter and I enjoyed an excellent sunday lunch: we all had roasts which were delicious. Plus we had very good starters. The squid and scallops. Very tasty indeed. Service was a little lacklustre but the food was great. They could do with changing the inside - it’s dark. In a summers day it’s nice when the doors are open. I have always had good food here but last weekend it was of an even higher standard but please sort out the internal decor

Sunday roast, shocking service. Have been a few times before and been fine however this occasion the food took at least 1.5 hours to arrive and at different times. Starters came out and the waitress said squid, we said no we ordered scallops, which she then put the plate down and said my mistake I meant scallops, but it was crispy squid on the plate…. We got half the food and once those two people had finished the other two plates of food came out. We spent over 1 £180 on food and drinks for 4 people and had to eat dinner at separate times. I asked for horseradish as we had roast beef to be told they had none in the whole restaurant. Really bad service from beginning to end and staff couldn’t give even half a smile.

We come every week and love the food, drinks, the ambience and most importantly the staff. They always make us welcomed. However, on this occasion for the first time we came across Maria…. She is the best who we ever met here. So upbeat, professional, everything went with a smile which made such a huge difference. It was the best experience we had so far at AT. Thank you Maria for a lovely evening! We felt so looked after. The new menu is amazing, food is delicious as always and the presentation is spotless.

Unbelievable never again!!!!! My partner and I visited this establishment yesterday to celebrate our 5th year anniversary which was completely ruined!! The evening started off quite pleasantly with newly appointed staff member Maria from Canada as our waitress. I asked Maria to remove a pot of mayonnaise from the table which she subsequently spilt over my black coat. She then began to sponge off the mayonnaise leaving my coat sopping wet. Maria was very embarrassed and apologetic about whole incident. Maria said she would find out how i would be reimbursed for my coat. After which a foul mouthed manager called Susie came to tell us we were rude to her waitress which was a lie!!! to be honest we barely reacted to the event. Susie contined to berate my partner loudly then threw a business card at him then stormed off. At that point my appetite was ruined and could no longer eat as I was so upset. The food was removed and bill presented in which my partner asked for manager to discount the bill in regards to my coat. He first asked for an apology in which Susie refused and then started shouting and accusing us of rudeness to her staff and that we did not want to pay you just could not make this up we could not get a word in as Susie was full of her own importance. We have never been so humiliated ever!!! I would like the thank the lovely young lady who was a waitress who apologised to us just before we left Thank you so very much.

Lovely dirty burger with a pint of peroni Staff pleasant, not too busy inside but enjoyed immensely £55 for 2 about average but will go again

A perfect location to meet with friends for lunch. The space and decor helped to create a relaxed atmosphere. The menu offered a wide variety with a good choice of light bites or larger meals. Our waitress Katie was polite, helpful and professional. We will definitely be back for a return visit sometime soon

We were a party of 14 celebrating my daughter in laws birthday. We were given a warm welcome by Daryl who went out of his way to accommodate us. Nothing was too much trouble. Daryl took the time to make sure everyone was happy with their meal and drinks. The atmosphere was great . We will definitely be coming back,

We visited today (09/03/2024) for an early Mother’s Day lunch. Visiting was myself, husband and 2 children (2 years old and 4 month old baby). - Parking is on site which is great and the time we visited appeared to be a good time as there was space right outside - which was convenient for us with the pram. You can register your car upon entry and don’t have to worry about a limit on how long you spend because it gave us until the next day. - Decor was beautiful. - Food was delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. Drinks selection was great. I couldn’t drink but did really want a cider so it was great that they had an alcohol-free cider option. We ordered the salt and cracked black pepper as well as the chicken liver pâté for starter and both were delicious. We then ordered the maple glazed pork with scallops for mains and this again, absolutely delicious! For our daughter we ordered the sausage and mash and this went down well. We even asked if the sausage and mash could be brought out first because our daughter was getting cranky from getting hungry and they did, so this was great. For dessert, I had the trio of desserts which was amazing! My favourite was the berry pavlova. My husband had the trio of ice cream with triple chocolate cookie - he said this was very nice. - Service was brilliant. Staff were so attentive and friendly. Our daughter was getting rather cranky but they were really accommodating and understanding. At one point, mine and my husband’s food was ready but the gentleman noticed I was about to feed my son so he asked if we wanted him to keep the food warm until we’re ready so this was such a great touch - very thoughtful. The young lady serving us for the duration was lovely and friendly. The gentleman who helped us with paying the bill was also very friendly, he even said he apologises if anything in the venue was the reason for my daughter crying, but we reassured him it was just because she had got hungry at that point. This was comforting as parents to know that people can be so understanding. Feedback - the only thing I want to mention is that the temperature was very warm in the dining area. However, this did not take anything away from having an enjoyable meal together. Overall, we were very happy with everything and definitely visiting again in the future. Thank you to all staff there for such wonderful service, and compliments to the chef because the food was amazing!

Very good service! Nice staff, food was on point. Everyone enjoyed food drinks were good everyone was friendly. Doesn’t matter how many people you bring, there is always room for everyone.

It’s such a shame that you can’t reserve a table of you are coming with dogs. Basically that means that we can’t take the risk of trying as we’re travelling from far away. Hardly ‘f’dig friendly’ - just dog tolerant and in the bar only. You may as well say no dogs. Pity.

I have been to the Apple Tree so many times and it is absolutely my favourite restaurant to go to. The starter, duck parfait, was amazing and as delicious as ever. The service was good except it took 20 minutes to get a drinks order in. However I had the sea bass for my main and I found the menu was very misleading. I thought I was getting a hot meal but instead got the seabass with ice burg lettuce (very weird) and luke warm peppers, fennel, watermelon and tomatoes with hot new potatoes on the side. I was rather dissapointed and thought the flavours did not go together. Every other time I have been it has been more than excellent. Just a one off experience that seemed not to their standard.

We arrived a tad early for our meal, which we have done on many an occasion before.We were told to wait and handed menus as we stood at the entrance by a waiter. The acting manager then took us to another table that was set up already next to the one already set up. We had to wait 20 mins for a drink to be offered to us which then took another 10 mins to arrive.50 minutes later we asked where our order was only then did it arrive. No apology.I ordered a round of drinks again.10 mins later again reminded waiter about drinks to be told “ oh I didn’t get that” Whilst sat there a couple sat next to us asked how long it took for our food to arrive. After telling them our experience they asked the same waiter if they would have to wait the same amount of time. Their meals took no longer than 5 mins to arrive.Asking for the bill after cancelling drinks the bill arrived within seconds. Fastest service ever! Shocking service from him and still no apologies from said waiter.Bill paid Will not go back however the manager was very nice and understanding.

Excellent food, beautifully presented and prepared However, we were unable to have any conversation due to the volume of the music, which was completely inappropriate for dining background music and had to use our phone torches to read the menu, it was so dark due to the low level of the lighting.

We had a tasty Sunday lunch in the bar. The food is delicious and the team are welcoming. Only downfall was the card machines not working but this couldn’t be helped and the manager kindly let us know before we sat down and helped us order through the app as we aren’t very good with technology!

COVID HAZARD & DISMISSIVE MANAGEMENT: We get in and were seated in the bar area. Given menus and left alone only later to find out there is no table service and we had to order from the table bg scanning the smallest menu QR code I have seen in bad lighting, was tedious. Starters served no problems, came with cutlery and a napkin. When the main meals came to be served the table was not cleared so we had to clear it for the waiter to have room to place our main dishes down, ridiculous attention and service at the price point. Once the main meals were placed down on the table the waiter left and no cutlery was provided, not sure why at the time as it was provided for our starters. Waited and nothing. Went to speak to the manager (Ginger hair and black glasses) about our experience so far and everything I said above was overlooked and he became defensive. They was no immediate apology or responsibility taken... He said the problem of no cutlery being served was raised to him by 4/5 previous customers but then why has he not resolved the issue? Said the staff should have told me... When I said if it has happened 4/5 times then why not tell the staff in a meeting? He said; we have many different employees, well that doesn't mean you neglect standards and training does it? Then came the passing of responsibility when I was told that customers had to come and get their own cutlery which was placed right at the front entrance with the doors wide open (dirty cutlery); not the case with our starters so no consistency there... Manager went on to simply say "my manager........", not very professional to pass responsibility like that when you're on duty. Did not apologise until I made it clear that I felt he was not taking the constructive criticism well and this was concluded from his defensive responses (seemed as though he truly didn't care), once I said this to him he apologised and said there is nothing he can do.. Quite patronising as I certainly was not after any compensation and I made that clear to him. INCREASING PROBABILITY OF SPREADING COVID: So the cutlery is placed in front of wide open doors at the restaurant entrance where customers dig in with their hands in bunches of cutlery to get it themselves and I was told it is for the pandemic and before but that is not very logical is it? Numerous customers putting their hands in bunches of cutlery placed right at the entrance with wide open doors? Not clean, hygienic or responsible in such an industry... Managers response was to pass the blame again and said our manager told us to put it there, used to be in the bar area but as they were expecting more bar customers, which he said hasn't materialised they moved the cutlery to the entrance... I was shocked by the response. He was just not getting the problem and was too busy reinforcing the fact that he is just following the managers orders. Unfortunate as I wanted to like the place. Haven't been to a pub or bar in the area or any area for that matter that has such an inconsiderate practice that is rigorously defended by a dismissive manager... Will not be coming back here due to hygeine concerns and lack of competent management in the midst of a pandemic. The waitress who served our last glass of wine should be the manager, her response was much more articulate on the issue and that in line of what the attitude should be of a manager running such an establishment. Hospitality is the name. Cam not fathom how you can not see that this is a way in which Covid can be spread when your industry should be doing everything it can to ensure the safety of its customers. Unfortunately management doesn't care and this practice will continue.

Visited last night 01.08.21 for dinner with friends. No Sunday roasts available apart from pork belly which was overcooked with flat yorkshires! No cauliflower cheese and chips served with steak had clearly been refried as the were full of oil and seriously overcooked! This place clearly can't deal with a busy Sunday trade!

Pleasant lunch with my wife would have rated highly but the subsequent £85 fine for parking in the restaurant car park made this a very expensive lunch. I am sure there are warning signs somewhere but I didn't spot them and it would have been nice to have been advised by the staff.

Kind of two and a half stars - poor to average.Service was fine and the interior was nice enough just the quality you get for the money.The seeded bloomer with prawn(s) and crab and Marie rose: the bloomer was nice but hardly any prawns and not even sure there was crabmeat there ! Chips were average.I’d say you can do a lot better.

First time at the Apple tree and it didn’t disappoint! I was very happy with the service and food. Olivia was very helpful and would help with a smile on her face, she made the visit well worth it. Definitely will be back.

Came with a friend for a bite to eat after a long morning on Teams calls. Wanted to give recognition when recognition is due. Was served by Amar, a polite young man that made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our late lunch, nothing was too much trouble. The food was great, lovely weather added to a great start to the weekend.

The food was very nice and the service was very good too. We had Daniella who was particularly helpful and efficient and made the whole experience very pleasant!

Had cod and chips, whilst eating it noticed the fish smelt of ammonia . Finished eating chips and salad and left 3/4 of the fish. I didn't as for a refund just asked waiter to get the chef to check it as was concerned. Chef said it smelt okay to him so it was alright. Could not believe his attitude, even the waiter was embarrassed. Will not be eating there again.

Went to the apple tree for late afternoon drinks and I have to say I was very impressed with their attention to detail. The service was great and I was treated like a valued customer. Many thanks to Sean the manager, Suzie and Callum.

Popped in on a Thursday lunchtime. Enjoyed bread, olives, Chenin blanc by the bottle. Hubby had Amstel. Sat by the heater watching the world go by. Sean looked after us and Suzzie too. We visit often and the service brings us back time after time. It’s a 5 out of 5 from us.

We ate outside due to Covid restrictions. The setting was pleasant with ample parking.The menu choice is average. Not particularly exciting.There weren’t many customers but the service was poor.We got a drink and after waiting a long time we had to try and attract the attention of a staff member to take our order. We weren’t offered the desert menu and had to attract a the waiter’s attention again to ask for tea and coffee. It would be nice if decaffinated tea was available.

We visited on Saturday 24th for my husband's birthday. We were unsure about how long we could utilise the table we had booked as this is not specified on the mobile site (I've later found it buried in the small print of the booking confirmation). Upon arrival we were greeted by Sean, I mentioned it was my husband's birthday, could we order drinks first and then food. He replied "the table is just for 2 hours, but you can rebook". Once seated I checked the website and a table was available at 4.30 so I placed a second booking. When Sean passed by again my husband (who happens to be the only non white member of our group) told him we had placed the second booking. At this point Sean became very confrontational, he was rude and aggressive. He snatched the menu off the table and began jabbing the paper saying in an agitated manner "I told you lot it was for 2 hours only, it says here". At this point I had my back to him so I turned round and asked him "I must have misheard you then because you told us we could rebook" he completely ignored this and just walked off. We assumed this would be the end of the matter and we ordered our meals when the waitress returned with drinks.At 4.00 the waitress returned to our table and very apologetically told us "I'm really sorry but the manager asked me to tell you that you have 30 minutes left, we need the table at 4.30" As I still had the booking in place at 4.30 I mentioned to her that the 4.30 booking was for us, she told us no problems and she would get everything sorted. Her attitude was very much that this was a common occurrence and wouldn't be an issue. However when she returned she told us the manager had said no. I told her that it was he himself that told us to do it, so she went to check again.Sean came storming out, he was clearly agitated and his manner was again aggressive. He told us we had to leave and he'd already told us this was the case. Again I challenged this and asked him why he told me to rebook, he had no answer for this. I also pointed out that other tables who had arrived before us had not been given the same warning about how much time was left, and had in fact overstayed the 2 hours. He response to this was that they were larger groups so they were allowed to stay longer (I can't find any mention of this on your site or booking confirmation). However only one of the tables I mentioned were a larger group, the others were a group of 4 and 2. The only difference I could tell was that we had someone who wasn't white in our group, whilst other tables didn't.Only after I pointed out that other tables had overstayed did I notice waiting staff going around and giving everyone the same reminder - I feel Sean did this to cover his tracks.I find it very odd, that the only table given a warning to push off 30 mins before their booking was finished was the table that had someone who wasn't white. Further more Sean had no problem telling me (a white woman) to rebook, but when my Indian husband pointed out that we had done so it became an issue.At the very least Sean was rude and aggressive. At worst his treatment of our table was racist in its nature. I am incredibly disappointed in this as we have visited the pub on many occasions and always enjoyed it. It is incredibly upsetting to have this happen to us on our doorstep, and makes us (particularly my husband) feel unwelcome in our community.This behaviour is not at all acceptable in the 21st century, and I would suggest that Sean is in the wrong line of work if he holds such views.

when i politely asked to move tables to one in the sun, his words were"you get what you are given" he then tried to humiliate and embarrass me. Its a shame, the food was lovely, the other stuff were lovely. Sean was aggressive, off hand, rude, and i would never employ him EVER. Unless we get an apology from the pub we will never return.

We visit this pub often and the service is always outstanding. From the minute you walk through the door all the way up to paying the bill to leave. I always feel like a valued guest, nothing is ever too much trouble and we never have to look around to ask someone for a drink. Before we’ve finished our drinks the next ones are on the way! Thank you to Atlanta who looked after us yesterday.

Had another excellent trip to The Apple Tree! Staff were very welcoming, we were served by the lovely Suzzie. Had French martinis and a rack of Lamb (pictured). We will be back soon!

Really nice casual family dinner. The battered cod was great as a main and the salt and pepper squid starter was excellent. Really friendly staff and overall a great experience. We’ll be back.

We have just had a Sunday roast and the food was fab, Kayla looked after us she was very friendly and could not do enough for us , we will return the pub when it opens in December, really looking forward to it. Would recommend a visit.

Lovely dinner, really good menu with lots of amazing vegan options. We were served by Natasha & Chloe who made the experience thoroughly enjoyable. We will definitely be back again :)

Our weekly treat to ourselves is lunch in different eateries around south bucks.It must be over a year since we tried the set lunch here and like other recent visitors, apparently, we also thought it was very good. Convenient and regulated parking. Promptly received and sanitised,we were escorted to our nicely spaced table by the window, with advice that Natasha would be looking after us. She did indeed.Helped with the wine choice and advised on both the starters and the mains. Nicely spiced cauliflower soup and a salmon and prawn cocktail in a pot, to get us going. Followed by prawn/crab chorizo linguine and pork belly with crackling to die for.Not really any room left for puds, but, we succumbed to mini Elton mess and coffee.Our best experience here in years and, yes, we did get 50% off the two mains. Have a go, and although you can’t sit outside it’s a much better experience overall in the warm.

Just had a wonderful meal served by Sophie who was very lovely and on the ball!!! when their was an issue (because I am picky) she resolved it straight away with no issue. Definitely recommend and will definitely come back thank you x

The staff were very welcoming and took us straight to the table. The waitress took our order quickly and efficiently. Everything was perfect. Smiley waitress, lovely wine and delicious duck salad, which we highly recommend. We will definitely be returning.

We’ve eaten here a often . The food is usually good and the service is fine . Today I tried to book a table outside for tomorrow as my friends have been shielding ; one is blind one has just finished chemotherapy, the other is diabetic and had lost sight in her eye due to Covid . They have not been able to enjoy going out since March . I really wanted them to enjoy a birthday lunch . I explained that we needed an outside table due to safely and the reasons . I was met with a direct no ‘ we can’t book a table outside ‘ No exception . Where is the humanity ? The ability to accommodate less able ? Be kind ? Use initiative ? I or my family won’t be coming back . You also lost good business . Shame on you !

We had a lovely dinner at the Apple Tree. Sophie served us and she was very friendly and quick to get us more drinks when needed. Food was very good and came hot nice and hot. Couldn’t fault the evening. Will definitely be going back again!

Had Lunch there. A week later got an £85 parking ticket , at the time I was not told anything about having to have a parking ticket .Went in there and they cannot not deal with themselves , now I have a load of hassle sending emails that I simply haven’t got time for .Absolutely disgusting

The food was really very good, I had the fig and dolcelatte nut roast which was delicious. Great service from very friendly staff, thank you Natasha! Covid rules in place so felt safe. Lovely atmosphere even under these strange Covid circumstances.

Plenty of parking. Remember to enter your Reg number on screen in reception. Covid protocols in place helped us felt very safe. Great service, lovely food. Good menu choice, reasonable prices.
