Great rock venue, just what you need for watching up and coming rock stars. Plus beer good price. Just seen Chris Payne and the Parade who were excellent.

Tiny cellar venue, good place if the band is pretty unknown. Walking distance from the town

As an old school metal head, with a punk metal daughter, we love this place for pre and post gig drinks.

The pub has a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, but I was disappointed to find that pints weren’t available. The drink selection was decent, but nothing adventurous. It’s lively, though a bit noisy. Overall, an okay spot for a casual night out.

Last night the staff was very disoriented or with their heads blown because I ordered drinks and they served them to me pathetically bad and incorrect with high prices. I just finished this and left so as not to generate any conflict

Pathetic, disgusting and rude staff absolutely shocking was in for 2mins and was getting shouted by a man behind the bar for no utter reason then also left and he proceeded to come outside and carry on shouting across the street! Absolutely embarrassing! Wouldn’t recommend to anybody

No food. Good live music venue - mostly rick orientated.

Good little bar for alt music lovers started the night off with a few drinks here, friendly bar staff. Additional music downstairs. Safest place for loo roll. 🤣🤣

Such a great venue. Had the best night out seeing a live band. Highly recommended. We will definitely be visiting again very soon

Went to see a band called Electric Shakes who are excellant. Only minus point was the room smelt of mould.

Staff are great never eaten there so can't rate the food, great venue.

Never met a manager/owner as rude and unprofessional in my life, very aggressive, got in our faces swearing and demanding us to leave straight away, wouldn’t recommend this venue too anyone!!!

The manager Caitlin was very sharp and rude waving her hands at my friend's and I. Very childish behaviour would not recommend. Unprofessional in my opinion. Shame really! 😞 She ruined our whole night.

Came here after Judas Priest, bar staff were lovely but the music was a guy on an acoustic guitar and it was so depressing

The best place in Bournemouth to listen to good music (rock, metal, punk) until the early hours of the morning. We were even lucky enough to see a concert on those vacation days we spent there. Good drink, rock, metal and a great atmosphere.

Saturday night and literally no atmosphere. we had one beer and left very quickly. DJ playing music for himself, and no-one else. Wrong music for the wrong bar. This place could have so much potential

Great little vibey rock n metal bar. Worth a visit (plus it's opposite bears and round the corner from zephyr so ideal for a rock bar crawl). Recommended.

Great venue! Cans of beer or Becks on draft at the bar. Reasonable prices. Sound in the venue is excellent and staff are on point. If you're in the area, or are a band on tour, you could do many worse things than getting to a show at The Anvil. Very happy customer (performer).

Its a good bar in terms of location and they get great bands in the basement. The toilets are disgusting- no locks, no toilet roll, no hand wash, no working hand dryer. The beer selection is also really poor currently. I still go for a the bands and to see my friends 😅

Great little venue downstairs in pub. Sound was a bit loud for the size, so sometimes hard to make out songs at first! Bar reasonable price and selection, can take a little while to get served when busy. Toilets are shoking 😱 but thought it was a great live music venue.

Proper music venue, attended a gig and definitely want to go here again! They have a cool downstairs area for bands and music. Good selection of beers too, worth a visit.

Interesting heavy metal bar/pub without the abusive security company door staff employed at The Bear Cave on the opposite side of the road. In the early part of the weekThe Anvil has no officious door staff on duty at all while at the weekends the ones they have are courteous and pleasant to customers rather than behaving in an officious, rude, aggressive and threatening manner as seems to happen at The Bear Cave with anyone older and on their own who they probably think won't be spending as much money as their other younger and also generally very drunk average customers.

Bar staff were sound with lots of recommendations for places to go and things to see for a couple of friends for a gig weekend! We came down from Leeds and Durham and were looking for a nice atmosphere and reasonable prices which we found here. Camden Brewery on draught is always a good shout and the music was great, thanks guys for helping us out and maybe we'll see you tomorrow!

Heavy metal/ rock bar/pub with regular live bands (check their web page for details). Not loads of seating upstairs, and be prepared to pay 10/15£ for entry downstairs (sometimes 3 or 4 bands on). They do an interesting rhubarb and custard cider 😐.

I've seen a lot of punk and metal gigs at the Anvil over the years, and it's exactly as you'd expect: it's loud, hot, small and frikken epic! The stage is downstairs in the basement, so if the circus is too much you can always chill at the bar upstairs where only the best music is played. Great atmosphere, the best music and only the finest people in Dorset.

Good price for drinks, is a very small rock bar but have good music for rockers 🤘🏼🤟🏼

Great staff, great atmosphere, and great music, it's a good place to enjoy rock music, the drinks are a good price for Bournemouth Centre, and unlike other venues in Bournemouth people are courteous, and respectful, definately a good place to pop into if your out in Bournemouth one evening.

If you love intimate gigs and nice staff this is the place. I went to see Blood Youth with my friends and this was the most intimate gig I've ever been too and the vibe was incredible. The staff are really nice I wanted to take a poster of the concert and one member of staff said she would look after the one behind her and give it wo me as I left. Absolutely amazing venue, will defo be back

Discovered this gem of a pub on the last night of my holiday in Bournemouth, wish I'd found it earlier as it's just my kind of place and full of my kind of people. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the band playing in the basement was one I'd actually heard of - Raging Speedhorn. The drinks were competitively priced too making for a great night out.

I wish all rock/metal bars were like this. Genuine, not dingey, and actual metal playing not just pop punk and 70s classics.

Lovely place great staff love the atmosphere and can't really fault it for any reason I can think of! If you like house drinks it's cheaper than a spoons and if you like rock and local pubs then itl be a 10 out of 5 for you I'd give it a go

This is an absolutely wonderful hard rock and metal bar, I've been coming here for just over 2 years but have started going more regularly recently and I can easily say that this is one of the best pubs I've spent time in.

Awesome bar with awesome music too! Between Bear and Spidey (along with the teams they work with) you are well looked after! If you have any bone in your body that enjoys rock or metal then this is the bar for you!
