Service is great and great atmosphere. However, we got the veggie roast and it was awful. The aubergine and mozzarella bake is just half an aubergine with fried veg and weird looking cheese on top. The meat options may be better, but would avoid the roast if you’re a veggie- unless they change it. Shame cos it’s a really lovely pub otherwise.

What used to be a fantastic pub now really damaged by Urban Pubs' acquisition. One of the highlights of this pub was offering food and drink for a very affordable price: bangers and mash for £8.50, bottle of wine for £18, and some pints for £3.50. Since the acquisition, prices are up by around 50%. One of pub's highlights used to be their weekly pub quiz on a Monday, where their quizmaster, Jack, was iconic. He's now been binned off to save funds. Appreciate the pub was acquired with a lot of debt however the pub is so much emptier now as a result of cost-cutting and its soul has largely gone. Think the acquisition has been handled badly and more money could have been made by maintaining/investing in what made the Antelope so appealing. Even the hand dryer in the mens has packed it in since the acquisition! Nail in the coffin is the change in draught beers/ciders they're introducing- Inch's cider is the worst epidemic since COVID and very sad to see The Antelope has caught it.

The Antelope is a great all round pub. Comfy seating on the left as you go in and stools and high tables on the right. The restaurant area is through the first set of doors but you can order food from any table. On match days they should football and or rugby. Some big tables too so good for large or small groups. I had the chicken snitchzel which came with rocket and Parmesan. It was very tasty. My friend has the plant burger which looked a little drab but apparently tasted good. There’s a good selection of beers and wines. The service was also very good and has been good on other occasions I’ve been in. The prices in there aren’t generally too bad but I noticed padron peppers at £8 and fries with truffle for £7 which seemed a lot in relation to the cost of other dishes. Good experience and will go again.

Ordered 2 pints and a packet of peanuts. First pint was Camden hells which tasted of line cleaner so had to be returned. Bartender was nice enough to apologise and swap out for a madri. 3 sips in I pulled the plastic wrapper of a stick of cigarette filters out my mouth as they’d been left in the bottom of the glass. This vile experience cost me £15.90. Never again!

‘Last orders’ called at 2230. ‘Time’ called at 2245. Plastic glasses slammed aggressively and unnecessarily on all tables at 2300 with a ‘we’re closed - time to go! Clearly no one has any invested interest in the financial viability of this pub. Doors were bolted shut by 2309 on a Thursday evening. I understand the pub has recently changed hands. I don’t give it long.

🚇 Tooting Broadway 🍺 £5.25 Pravha The Antelope is located on busy Mitcham Road in the heart of Tooting. The nearest Tube is Tooting Broadway, it is only a two minute walk to get here. This pub was built in 1871 and started life as The Foresters Arms. In 1932, this where a meeting took place to create the Tooting & Mitcham United Football team. In 2009, the pub was taken over by Antic and renamed The Antelope. This is a huge three room pub that has some amazing original and inter-war features. The main bar is located as you enter and has a horshoe shaped servey and an ornate back bar with an original ’Barclays Beers’ sign. At the back of the main bar is a dining area which has Georgian wall panels, dark oak beams and has a slightly Tudor feel to it. Just off the dining area is the Rankin Room, this may have been a Billiard Room at some point. This room has a distinct inter-war feel with its wall paneling, parquet floor and wonderful high ceiling. At the back of the pub is the beer garden which has a covered space with a TV. The beer lineup was impressive and had an excellent selection of beers, ciders and seven cask ales. I decided on a pint of Pravha, my pint was decent, price point was reasonable at just over a fiver. The food menu was a mix of traditional pub grub mains and American/Mediterranean inspired snacks and sharers, Fish & Chips costs £14, Roasts are available on a Sunday. I arrived just after 2pm on a warm Saturday afternoon in April. The main bar had a large group in, the dining area was quiet and there were a few lads watching the Newcastle v Spurs game in the back room, the beer garden was busy. The overall atmosphere was convivial, this pub has a lovely aura to it. I had a little chat with the Guv’nor, top fella. I read last week that 13 Antic pubs had gone into administration, one of them being @theantelopesw17 . I hope and pray that this outstanding boozer is saved, it would be a travesty if this pub has to close its doors. I absolutely loved visiting this pub, this is one of my favourites this year and a must visit for all London pub fans. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 13.04.24

Great pub. Very large bar and even more seating in a large comfortable room at the back. Good selection of beers and very nice, high quality pub food and fairly reasonable prices. It's a shame the kitchen is closed on Mon/Tues as I usually visit on a Tuesday but I know how hard/expensive recruiting kitchen staff is, so I may not make sense in a quiet night. They also show some live sport in the back room but it doesn't feel like a 'sports pub'. It's the kind of pub you can stop for a quiet pint on your own, or come with friends and enjoy yourselves. Would definitely recommend.

The food was good and they had huge protions. We were sat in right in front of the bar area so it was quite loud as it was a Friday night but it was okay, just wasn't what we booked. Overall though, I would recommend if you're looking for just pub vibes and simple food.

In the flurry of the holiday season, finding a spot for a work Christmas dinner can be a tall order, especially last minute. But the Antelope in Poole not only accepted our late booking they welcomed us with open arms, turning what could have been a hectic evening into a delightful festive experience. Upon arrival, the warm, festive ambiance of The Antelope immediately set the tone for the evening. The decor was a teasteful nod to the season, creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere that was perfect for a group looking to celebrate the holidays. The culinary experience was a highlight. Every dish, from appetizers to desserts, was a delight. The chefs clearly put thought and care into each item on the menu, accommodating a variety of tastes and dietary preferences, ensuring everyone at the table was thoroughly plesed. But what truly stood out was the service. Considering our last-minute reservation, the staff could not have been more accommodating. They were not just eficient and attentive but also exuded a warmth and friendliness that made our group feel like we were regulars. The value for money was another pleasant surprise. High-quality food, exceptional service, all at a price that didn’t break the bank – it was impressive to say the least. The presentation of the dishes added an extra touch of class to the meal, making the dining experience feel even more special. The Antelope’s ability to handle a last-minute booking with such grace and professionalism was the icing on the cake of a wonderful evening. The combination of the inviting atmosphere, exquisite food, outstanding servic, and great value has left a lasting impression on all of us. It’s safe to say that The Antelope in poole has not just won our appreciation for one night, but has earned a group of eager return customers for many festive seasons to come.

Extremely disappointed with this pub. I asked at 5pm what time the kitchen closes and the waitress said “The kitchen closes at 6pm”. I go to the kitchen at 5:37pm to order, and they won’t let me because last orders are taken 30 min before the kitchen closes. Why your waitress didn’t tell me that I will never know. A reasonable answer would have been “the kitchen closed at 6pm but we take last orders 30 min before that”. Perfect. Thanks for ruining my evening. The manager says “sorry”.
