Great potential spoilt by poor service and unfriendly staff. We sat in the garden on a sunny summer’s day and were ignored for the first 15 minutes. Eventually went inside to ask if we could place coffee orders. After 20 minutes we still had no coffees - they forgot our order. We waited 55 minutes for food from the time we ordered. It wasn’t overly busy and in fact staff were seen on their phones hanging back in the kitchen and couldn’t be more disinterested in tending to customers. Food eventually turned up but no cutlery - we had to help ourselves to that too. It was cold, not terribly exciting. We watched as the other couples started having the same experience nagging for attention or updates on their order. Hard to believe your outdoor diners could be forgotten during a lovely sunny day. Overall the young guys working the cafe were unfriendly and unenthusiastic. We couldn’t wait to leave and won’t ever be going back - hugely disappointing given we are locals to the area.

We ordered 2 iced latte, but the guy on the counter named Aron or Erin forgot to put the ice ig, so we decided to go back and asked for some more ice. At this point Aaron seemed very annoyed to add some more ice , in the process to put the ice in my cup he used his bare hands which I am not sure were clean enough. As a reaction I stopped him but he put in another glass already.. when I asked him to not use his hands he started babbling some not happy words , I asked if I said something wrong, as I was very shocked by his reaction. I expected at least an apology but the gentleman seemed to believe he did nothing wrong. Hopefully he can get a proper training about hygiene and some basic manners.

This place used to be great pre-covid, but it is now awful. The food used to be lovely, but it has taken a turn & is no longer as good. I've seen the staff going into the local Tesco to get ingredients, so you may as well just eat at home. What is even worse is the standard of service now. It takes ages to be served if you sit in, but the staff are extremely unprofessional and rude which makes it quite an unpleasant experience. Upon sitting in on a recent visit, a young lad and a dark haired girl were laughing to each other about personal matters, and when I looked over at them he stated 'the customer is listening'. I went this morning for a coffee, and it opens at 8 - so I stood outside for 5 minutes at 8 whilst they opened up. They had opened the doors, so I asked if we could get a takeaway coffee. But the same dark haired member of staff seemed very annoyed, and snapped at me to 'just give her a minute'. Anyway I walked off, and will never go back - you may as well try Juliet's which is across the road & much nicer!

A staple brunch spot in Tooting with a great chilled atmosphere perfect for any occasion. I had the ‘great British breakfast’ which was honestly okay, but nothing great and a bit cold. However I have regularly visited this cafe and service is always very warm and friendly so may be worth a visit depending on what you’re after.

This place is called Mud because it's what it feels like you're stuck in when you're queueing. Staff are friendly and food is good quality, but table management and actually sitting people down to eat the nice food needs desperate improvement. Witnessed 2 people being sat on a table that seats 6 over a waiting party of 4, just an example of a couple of weird decisions of where to sit people. Would be a really great place with better seating management.

We were recommended MUD for the quality of the food, but were warned about the shoddy service. We thought perhaps as it’s a Friday lunch time it wouldn’t be so bad, so we chanced it. Boy were we wrong. We walked in, sat down, and for 10 or so minutes no one acknowledged our existence. We weren’t sure whether it was table service or not, but then the one chef saw us and gestured to the one server to take our orders; however he was on his phone, completely in his own world, laughing at a message he’d received. It was like a work of fiction. Then once he realised we were there, he told us he “didn’t see us” like it’s not his job to do so. The food wasn’t exactly worth the wait either. A bit sloppy, and then when we went to pay, the server who’d been so rude had the audacity to ask for a tip. We said no, unsurprisingly. Not worth a second thought, frankly. Ps. The food looked good though, if you’re into instagrammable food. Not cheap either.

The food was IMPECCABLE. I had the ginger croquettes and salmon and a shared side of wild mushrooms. The main had the perfect amount of burn from the scotch bonnets, eggs were perfectly cooked, the croquettes were crunchy and delicious, just pure joy. BUT the stand out for me were the wild mushrooms. Oh. My. God. To die for. The best mushrooms I've ever had, ever. I'd go back just to eat a massive bowl of mushrooms. The end. In terms of atmosphere, the back door was open and it was freezing AF. So whilst the food was banging, I had my coat on the whole time. Not the best vibe. There was a distinct lack of vegetarian options which is sad.

A very popular spot for brunch in Tooting, offering many sweet and savoury options. The fact that it's been there for about seven years shows that it's a successful crowd pleaser. This was our favourite go to brunch spot in Tooting, but after our experience today I’m not sure if I would go back for awhile. Though I have to say the service is always warm and welcoming. It was a Tuesday lunch with only 2 other tables our food took a little while to arrive. And I’m not sure if it’s just our luck or they just don’t serve the whole menu on a weekday, we found a few of the items not available. The food itself, we felt really dropped in standards. Both the Wild mushroom and Welsh madam was heavily salted and it was a struggle to finish it all. We’ve had brunch during the weekend here when it was much busier and the food was delicious. Hopefully they do look into the reviews on here and do something about it.

The BEST brunch in all of London. Hands. Down. I've been coming to Mud for 6 years and even dream about their Wild Mushrooms. It's my usual go-to, however, whenever I venture out for something else, it's always amazing - their Corn Fritters, The Garden, any of the Pancakes... the Plaintain nuggets are all insane taste explotions in the mouth too. New updated brunch menu pulls out all the stops and is still remains one of the best cafes in Tooting! UPDATE: Unfortunately, I have to amend my previous review due to poor service on busy weekend periods. Obviously weekends are busy times but it seems there's a lack of communication & general organisation between the waiters who are clearly rushing around but not thinking it through. We were told due to orders stacking up that we need to wait 15mins to order food which I agreed was fair enough. However, our waiter didn't tell this to his colleagues who continued to take food orders which meant we got our food substantially later than people who arrived 20mins later! We also tried to give our orders to another waiter after seeing this; who didn't write it down and forgot. So after giving our order several times we ended up waiting an hour before we got our food! This has happened my last 3 weekend visits so I feel I need to mention it now that with a bit more management things could run more smoothly. Also in the week I've tried to grab a breakfast before commuting to work as it says on Google that they're open at 8am but last few times they werent open until 9am so please amend your times. Your food is great so please work on these few things as I want to continue supporting you as a local business.

Really really sorry to report that we had a terrible experience today at Mud. I lived in Tooting for the past 8 years and used to come here often. Today, together with three friends, we went there for brunch and sat at the table outside, at the front of the shop. Nobody came to serve us until we called them, twice. They came to take the order, the coffees arrived after almost 30 minutes, after the food. They were served one by one rather than all on a tray in one go. Food arrived without cutlery. We asked for it, and they brought it out and literally chucked it on the table. We asked for napkins, they took ONE out for a table of four. My friend found a hair on her plate and sent the whole plate back, without asking to remake it. At that point we were not impressed AT ALL with the service. After almost 30 minutes that the food was served, a waiter came out asking if all was ok. I said the coffees tasted terrible (we had two out of four left in the cups, not drinkable). He laughed and got offended telling me ‘oh that’s a nice comment’. At that point I lost it. I asked to speak to a manager in charge, to get told ‘come inside’. After ten minutes, nobody came out, my friend went in to explain that we were not happy with the service and the waiter’s attitude at all. Really sad to report that I will never go back to this place. It’s a shame because the food is actually good but the attitude were all totally wrong and service shockingly bad!

Great food and a good amount for the price in comparison to Juliets down the road which charge similar if not more but present you with one piece of bread. The chilli jam is yummy and the bacon and salmon were good quality. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because they didn't have any pancakes on the day or any plantain for the plantain croquettes, both of which we planned to order. I mean you could literally walk down the road in tooting and get plantain so I didn't understand why??

. . Cortar la mostaza cerca es muy superior.

Had high expectations after reading reviews and hype however the brunch muffin i had was rather disappointing. £10.50 for a standard breakfast muffin- the kind you would buy from supermarket, they forgot the brown sauce that was on the menu and the potato waffles sounded nice until i realised they were the frozen ones rather than homemade. It was just not enjoyable. I am all for paying this price for a homemade breakfast with sourdough or crusty breakfast bun however this was so underwhelming and ridiculously overpriced for the quality of food. I would not return unfortunately!

The staff at the counter were very friendly and welcoming. However, this café is over-priced. Given the amount of amazing restaurants and eateries in Tooting, serving generously-priced, delicious food, it was quite a surprise seeing menu items such as eggs on toast being priced at nearly £10. When we did order our food, it took an extraordinarily long time to arrive. We must have waiting a good 25 minutes or more for what are, essentially, incredibly quick and simple dishes -- avocado on toast, corn fritters and turkish eggs. The trouble with having an open kitchen is that customers can see how slowly the chefs are working. I will say that the food, when it did arrive, looked impressive. My two friends enjoyed their food, but my corn fritters were disappointing. Corn fritters are naturally sweet, so I was sad to see and taste that they had been drenched in a saccharine red sauce. The sweetness of the corn and the sauce together made the dish sickly sweet, and I couldn't finish it. I have worked in hospitality before, and I know that sometimes delays are inevitable. I saw that on that day, the front-of-house staff were struggling with a faulty coffee machine, for example. However, I don't see how this could have delayed our orders so significantly, especially as the café was quiet. Overall, I left feeling as though I hadn't gotten anywhere near my money's worth.

I'd heard about this place from a few friends telling me I just had to try the breakfast here. My first thoughts were surely it's just toasts and eggs and I was sure my mates were exaggerating, but behold, I have to bite my tongue because they proved me Wrong! This was probably the best breakfast I've eaten in a long time. So flavoursome! I ordered the Mud Muffin because it looked like great value for money from the menu alone and it is. Being a lover of smoked salmon, I had to request for some on the side and the salmon was beautiful. I was truly impressed by what I ate and I had to savour each bite. Everything was fresh and flavorful and the eggs were so tasty. I was completely satisfied with my meal and feel I have found my new Sunday brunch spot. I might have to fight to get a table but the food is absolutely worth it. The staff were also amazing and prompt with my order and I found the venue to be quirky and cosy.

I went outside of lunchtime so it wasn't busy at all. What I did get though was some excellent Eggs Benedict (served on veggie pattie, not muffin) with crispy bacon. Best I've had in a very long time.

We were seated outside in the garden and noticed a dead rat right next to our table. We told the waitress and the response we got was: “oh sorry the pest man will come tonight”. Terrible service and rubbish everywhere in the garden area.

Sat outside at back waiting twenty minutes to get a table inside. Too busy and so service was slow. Pancake was completely overcooked so it was a dry cake instead. Bacon burnt to a crisp. Reheated suasages had obviously been cooked multiple times. Staff were pleasant enough but overstretched. Coffee took 15 minutes to arrive. Won't go back .... Not even up to greasy-spoon standard. Table dirty...

Visited MUD as I'd seen a few people go there and wanted to try it out.

Still a good place to go, standards dropping a bit since the owners have diversified to Croydon and now a pub in Wales.

Great little café in Tooting. We had the smashed avocado and the wild mushroom & sausage breakfasts. Wonderful service and amazing food.

They didn't serve any butter with our toast, then made a big deal about getting butter from the supermarket just for us. There were other moments of strange passive aggressive waitressing from the lady (I think she had a Kiwi accent). Overall the food was not good enough to compensate for the bizarre service received, won't come back.

I went for the first time in about 10 months and it just wasn't what it used to be. The service was awkward at best, including lifting my plate away whilst I was still eating (and I'm a quick eater!) The food - Mud Muffin - arrived suspiciously quickly and was not good; deep fried Birdseye-style waffles, stale supermarket muffin and salty, tepid meat. The orange juice tasted very cheap despite being served in a funky jam jar. I hope it improves again because it's a great addition to Tooting.

Queuing most weekends so prefer weekday visits. Good produce and cooked to order so can take time. Coffee served immediately so is either finished or cold by the time the food arrives. I now ask for it once the food has landed. NOT a 'greasy spoon' so expect deservedly higher prices. Recommended.

Fantastic brunch with extremely welcoming staff. Our order was delivered very quickly and a warm smile. Servings are large, yet plate lickingly good. Juices lip smacking, and are packed full of flavour. Definately a place to visit.

I will definitely be coming back! The food was amazing! Definitely 10/10. I had the variety of wings which were the BEST wings I've tasted in years, personal fav was the Korean wings. I spoke to a lovely guy named Mark who was very helpful. Bar staff were lovely and friendly too. Would 100% recommend.

Superb back street boozer near the Thames at Putney Bridge. Loved everything about...such a joy to watch the bar keep lovingly pour each pint of Guinness....though I was on the delicious Pillars Porter myself. Comfy, cosy, chatty, charismatic place that I'll certainly be going out of my way to visit.
