Lovely pub, best bit was by far the food! So many delicious veggie / vegan options! Highly recommend :)

Had a delicious meal at this pub was really impressed with the quality of the food and the vegan options. Great service and friendly staff, I would definitely recommend.

I often have food in Balham Bowls Club. They have an amazing range of veggie / vegan options and their aubergine Caesar salad is a personal favourite. Also the vegan Sunday roast is the best I’ve had by a mile!! Always look forward to their specials as they often include a veggie option, the chefs here Nobby and Arg are world class! Would recommend to those looking for a more interesting pub dinner than the basic ones you find in Balham 😊

Had a delicious roast pork with crackling last Sunday. My gluten and dairy intolerances were catered for with minimum fuss. Special shout out to Nobbie the chef. The only part of the meal I couldn’t have was the Yorkshire pudding. Lovely family friendly atmosphere with excellent service. My friend had the vegetarian roast option and cleared his plate! We will definitely eat here next time we are in the area.

Just want to leave a review thanking all the staff that have helped to organise my partner's surprise birthday party, prepared the food and clean up afterwards. Organising a party with the venue was hassle free thanks to Gabby and Sarah who were so responsive and patient with all of my queries. I also have to say that the food platters were so delicious and plentiful. We'll be back again for food that's for sure.

We had our 10 year wedding anniversary/40th birthday party here on Saturday night... having had our wedding reception here back in May 2014. It is SUCH a beautiful venue... the ballroom is perfect for a private party. The team are friendly and flexible. We had the most fantastic night. Thank you!

Just around the corner from Waitrose great location. Very quaint / old fashioned interior. Plenty of seating and cover at the back. Friendly staff. I asked for a coffee but said they weren't serving any. Plenty of choices behind the bar . Didn't have any food

Service was really poor on the most recent visit, no cutlery being brought over, missing dishes and plates not being cleared. Staff were also unwelcoming to any of us when we went to the bar, felt like we were causing an issue by asking for a drink Some roast were also overcooked and cold. Iv had good experiences here before, but my rating has dropped due to the last.

Great local Antic pub. God value. Nice atmosphere. But… one staff member needs to learn how to punt a proper pint. The head was 3cm…

A busy pub but still full of character after many years. Lovely set up and outside is a great beer garden. They only have the small ground floor bar which gets busy so an age to be served. There’s also an upstairs area and bar but often used for functions. If you get your drink quickly it’s a top place. Some good music playing too.

Many years since I have visited the BBC, and we were not dissapointed food wise. I had the Toulouse sausages and chive mash and my partner had the Chicken kiev (both were smashing). Homemade comfort cooking done right! Can't wait to sample a roasts here! Keep it up chefs!!

What a great local pub this is! The steak is delicious and I love that you can come here for a whole variety of reasons. It's great for a big group, it's good for live music and you can come for a drawing class. What a versatile pub for the local area.

The food was so good we forgot to take photos of it! We ordered fish and chips, chicken schnitzel and vegan sausage and mash for Saturday lunch in the big room filled with sunshine. Affordable prices too. Definitely coming back to try the roast one of these Sundays.

The name is a bit misleading as this is a delightfully quirky pub and restaurant. Such a change from the usual chain pubs and no bowls in sight. We didn't eat but loved the place. Would highly recommend for a drink.

Gorgeous roast at Balham today! Lovely vegetarian option, cooked to perfection. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were amaaaaaaazing!!! As was the desert!

Went for a comedy night, service from bar staff was great, disappointed at the short sets of comedy and the headline act was late with many people walking out before he arrived, and for those who waited his set was short and very visibly looked at his watch the whole time but we appreciate this is not the fault of the venue, which overall was nice!

I was expecting this place to be better, but they closed the room we were in moments after our food arrived. They made some empty promises to find us another table but the place was packed, and after waiting a while I was so hungry I ate a cold dinner with my bare hands standing at a closed bar. Best avoided.

One star purely because I booked a table, showed up and they just told me they couldn't find the booking because it hadn't processed. Not really any alternatives given and it wasn't handled very professionally, I just felt brushed to the side to be honest. Grubby pub generally, I found it on timeout, couldn't understand the hype around it when I showed up. Maybe it was a blessing they didn't process our booking. Rude staff who act like they don't have time for you...I get that these places can get busy on a Friday night but that's still poor customer service. Don't let ratings deceive you.

Place with lots of potential but I stood by the bar waiting with a host of other people for basic drinks and food on a Saturday for close to 25 minutes. Got to the front finally and they were out of everything. Total waste.

Went to BBC for a team outing and had a wonderful time. We were well looked after by Sarah and the team, and despite it being January, the place had a real buzz. Can't argue with that!

Great atmosphere, especially on Saturdays. Best to spend nights with friends drinking. Not a place to target good food or quick service. The bar is frequently overwhelmed.

Great atmosphere, the pub is large and it can be nice for small groups and larger ones. There is an nice outside area for the smokers and a very cosy atmosphere inside. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a nice time with good prices.

Great good, good atmosphere and good prices. Chicken supreme roast was slightly on the small side and quite dry. Everything else fab!

Love going for a couple of quiet pints here - nice little side rooms near the bar, and a few big functions rooms, haven’t eaten there but food looks good, bar staff are nice, and decent beer selection

If you want drinks in a buzzy bar with a neat decor, then this is a good choice. It was too busy for me, it took a long time to get served (they need another bar area or more staff on a Friday night) and I thought the food from the bar menu was underwhelming. Maybe the full menu and table service at the back of the place is better.

A great pub hidden away from the beaten track on a Balham side road, but a real gem. Thoroughly recommend.

Had our Christmas do here this weekend. It was a shambles, they booked way too many parties for the night and were over run with orders. We were told our food would be ready at 7:30pm we didn’t get our starters until 8:30pm and our desserts were still coming out at 11pm!! We had one waitress serving our party of 40 plus and she tried her best but in the end we had to start clearing the tables ourselves. The food was awful, turkey was DRY and parsnips raw, burger was raw too. Really disappointing! Wouldn’t return.

I have a lot of love this pub, very lucky to have it as a local! Big fan of the interior and the garden, staff are always lovely too. Hired the upstairs room for a party, such a great space. Jean looked after us incredibly well, he had such a wonderful energy the whole evening and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend for food, grabbing a pint, private hire or all of the above!

Very poor Sunday lunch. Food was lukewarm. Parsnips were hard and there was far too much spice in the red cabbage.

I recently had my 30th birthday party at Balham Bowls Club and we hired out the upstairs function room for the 70+ people attending. Gabby and the team were very helpful and accommodating both during the booking process and on the night itself. Disappointing. We booked Sunday lunch for the three of us. Upon arrival, we requested 3 x kids roast lunches. We have had this before. We were told that was not possible. We didn’t want to spend £60 with 3 x £20. So, we spoke to staff and their hands were tied. The very unfriendly duty manager told us we couldn’t have the smaller portions. So silly. She then, sarcastically , wished us a nice afternoon. So, we decided to leave the premises and save our money!!!!

Always been a classic with many a story beginning and ending.

Shame! We always say BBC roasts are the best! Unfortunately, the beef was so tough and overcooked you couldn’t even cut through it! The potatoes stale and cold and Yorkshire crisp and cold! I asked the waitress to see if they could replace the meat and bless her she tried but she came back with pretty much the same meat!

Standards seem to be slipping, understaffed and struggling. Food still excellent on a Sunday.

Great place for an amazing relaxed Sunday dinner at reasonable cost. We were made really welcome by all the staff with our 2 dogs. I especially enjoyed the veggie option and extra Yorkshires. Can't wait to be back.

Have always loved Balham Bowls Club (first as a local and lately whenever I can make it back). Lunch today of pub bites & heritage tomato salad with goats cheese was delightful with a few pints in the sun. Bravo chef & team and thanks for the wonderful friendly service to the bar team xx

Our new favorite local. Finally a place where beer is still affordable, and the staff genuily nice and caring. I only have been a few times and they all remembered me and my dog ! I have not tried the food yet but I was told it is very yummy

Our son brought us here for drinks on a friday evening as he lives in Tooting and we were visiting the drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. The Beer garden has a great atmosphere. We only had snacks to eat but the food that passed by looked amazing we will definately be back!

Quirky little place that I only discovered when I was looking for somewhere to watch the the World Cup final. The bar staff are awesome. Reasonable prices. Nice vibe. This is a place I’ll go out of my way to return to if I’m in the SW area.

Another absolutely amazing Sunday lunch again. The Yorkshire puddings were amazing, as was the Roast Beef. The veg and gravy were amazing and plenty of it. I travelled 5 miles for this and always will, because there is no better Sunday Lunch (In my opinion) in Balham, Tooting Bec, Tooting Broadway and Colliers Wood. The desert was outstanding according to my friend, best he’s had. Do yourselves a favour and have your Sunday lunch here!

Come here regularly and it’s always great. The food is super tasty, the chefs clearly care and the menu has lots of options. The staff and service is really good too!

Karaoke night review! What an epic occasion for a Friday night! The fella who runs it is a gentleman with a range I would kill for! A brilliant atmosphere and a great night to visit no doubt! Every second Friday! I will be back!!

Great venue. I am a member of Monumental Choir and we practice here every Monday night (come join us!). We do performances here and it's always a great crowd. I also went to a wedding reception here that was brilliant as we had the whole upstairs to ourselves with a private bar. Super fun, and great staff.

Jean the Barman and Cellarman! Has worked so hard every time I have seen him! A truly committed employee! The Chef cooks the best food in town, I have never tasted better Sausage Rolls! So I will leave it for you to imagine how good the rest of the Menu is! It will be better than you imagine ! ERIN the manager is very very sociable the perfect choice for the Balham Bowls Club! I came in here on the off chance as i was passing by. It had a lovely atmosphere and i was made to feel welcome. Sat down to have some lunch i was looked after so well by the manager a lovely lady we had a great chat as i was by myself. I had the burger and chips which was delicious and great value for money so filling. Next time im in the area i will definitely go back.

Me and my family had such a lovely time visiting this pub. The roast was delicious and the service was amazing. The lady with blue hair went over and above to make sure all our needs were met. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. A lovely pub and we will definitely be visiting again.

Best pub in Balham for a Sunday roast 😋

What a lovely place with such kind and attentive staff. I went here with my 2 children for dinner. Both my children are autistic and going out can sometimes be worrying for myself and them. Can’t sing the praises of the staff here enough for how kind and understanding they were with my boys. The manager came over herself and made sure we were all fine, spoke so nicely with my boys and had our meals adjusted so the boys didn’t have anything on their plates that could possibly upset them. We will defiantly be going again.

Honestly, just no. Needs another bar as it takes ten minutes to get a drink. Filthy glasses. The food, genuinely diabolical. £15 for the saddest, most insulting burger and chips I've ever had the displeasure of eating. I've had better out of a van at 3am, and almost immediately after eating it I experienced the onset of violent and uncharacteristic stomach cramps, so who knows what was done to it by the kitchen. We sent the risotto back because it was warmed over gruel. The shabby aesthetic is a bit depressing too, rather than quirky. Good luck to them but strongly recommend avoiding this joint.

First visit on a friend's recommendation. I was really impressed with this large, quirky, welcoming pub. Excellent selection of beers and an historical interior give a cosy atmosphere in the choice of several rooms. I will return.
