A friendly place with prompt service and tasty food. My friends that had the soup advised it was very hot so waited a short while for it to cool enough to be tasty. I had the Pork belly and Dauphinoise potatoes which was very tasty! All the choices that folk had were well presented and everyone was complimentary of what they'd had.

We were staying locally for the weekend and The Antelope Inn was recommended to us. The pub is a pretty, traditional local and there were several people enjoying the food and the early evening sunshine. We both had pizzas, which were very good, and lovely ice cream for dessert. The service was efficient and friendly. It's a shame that there aren't more local pubs like this near where we live, sadly they're all now blocks of flats.

Ten of us went for lunch. Great service, really made to feel welcome, just the food was, just "alright". I had pie of the day, very dry, and my veg was really overcooked. 2 of my team had fish and chips, said the fish was tasteless. Not bad enough to complain, but for the money (quite expensive), could be a lot better. I will give them another go, could have been an off-day.

My wife and I had booked a table for two at 12.30pm. and we were the only people in the dining room at this stage. We were given menus and a wine list and I noted the table was unstable. When the young lady came to take our order I pointed this out and she said she would bring something to sort that out. I mentioned that we both wanted our gravy in a separate container too. Our bottle of wine arrived along with some water but the table was still not addressed, nor we were ever asked if we had any allergies! When the food arrived the gravy was already on the plate for both meals. The server stood in front of us expecting to take the meals anyway with no apology. My wife was so hungry she accepted hers but I had to send mine back. When my meal came back, with separate gravy, we were not asked if we needed any other accompaniments nor was any apology for the wait. The food was very tasty and I cannot fault its presentation or quality, it’s just such a shame that the wobbly table and lack of customer service let down our enjoyment and experience. When our plates were cleared we were asked if we would like deserts, but we just wanted to pay up and get out! It has put me off returning as there is a lack of care and effort towards its customers. Quite an expensive meal which had let the whole experience down with its lack of service! We all have a choice as customers and completion is rife. We have dined at the Antelope on many occasions, often spending a small fortune. It looks like another establishment will be getting our custom in future.

Stumbled across whilst out for a Saturday drive - very pretty village and lovely pub. Decided to have some food which was very nice. Sat in garden which was very pretty although could do with a little maintenance, Had burger and chips and was very tasty - chips were amazing. Prices are fairly high I would say for a small county pub. Would come back in future

We were staying in the area and were pleased to see that the lovely village of Lighthorne had retained its pub. We called in for a drink in the garden on one evening and returns the next for a meal. It was 2 for 1 Tuesday Pizza night. We both thought that the pizzas were as good as we have had anywhere. We have no idea whether the rest of the menu would prove to be as good, but we were delighted with our choices. Well worth a visit to this pub which has a good community feel and very pleasant service.

My family booked for Sunday lunch at short notice. There were eight of us altogether and two members of our party travelled from the west coast of Wales and were very, very, late. I cannot stress how superb the staff were, they were kindly and professional and took it all in their stride even though we must have been a mighty inconvenience. The food was DELICIOUS. Meat cooked to our specifications (family like it pink, I like it overdone), crisp, fresh vegetables, Yorkshire puddings that floated, and plentiful, rich, lovely gravy. Oh - and the puddings were a delight too. Thank you, thank you, thank you Antelope, for making our special occasion one of the best meals together ever. 100% fantastic.

Just had the most disgusting meal with our family at the Antelope. This was a pre-booked meal for my 66th birthday for 11 of us. The vegetables were rotten, potatoes had gone to seed (chitting), the cauliflower was grey and the broccoli yellow - absolutely disgusting. Invited the chef to come and speak to us but they were not forthcoming which says it all. They took the mains off the bill, but all we really wanted was a nice family meal to celebrate. Needless to say we will not be going back.

Booked here as advised it was good. I don't normally leave negative reviews but this was such an unwelcoming place! We arrived for dinner and waited quite a while at the bar to book in, barmaid booked us in hut didn't tell us where our table was and just moved to a different customer...bizarre! We found another waitress and asked her to which we received a Curt reply and a huff. After about 5 minutes she pointed at a table and said there. We sat down...waited...no menus. My husband then got up to get the menus...waited again for a while and noone came to take our order. So we left! Being friendly and having basic service is so easy is hospitality! Maybe everyone was having a bad day.... hopefully this can be remedied.

Sunday birthday lunch in a nice-looking pub. However, once the six of us were seated we noticed some people sit, order, eat and leave, and realised that we had been seated for an hour and in this time a round of drinks had been delivered: but there was no other contact with staff, and absolutely no eye-contact. So, one of us left the table to find someone, who arrived and told us two of our choices were unavailable. It would have been nice to know that upfront. Starters were fine, but my main course was two small segments of lukewarm roast potato, half a carrot and half a parsnip supporting two dry slices of turkey. There was little more than a smear of gravy on the plate. We asked about the seasonal veg and ten minutes later asked again (seriously, one of us timed the response). A shallow bowl of broccoli and peas arrived, for the five diners who had ordered a roast. I was expecting more bowls to arrive, but no ... my share was two small heads of broccoli. No sauces were offered, no-one checked to see if all was well. When we got the bill, eventually we went to the bar to pay because nobody came to pick it up. Overall, very poor service, long waits, lukewarm food and a penny-pinching approach to portion control. I'm really not impressed.

After a busy couple of days I decided to treat myself to a Sunday Lunch here. I can only say WOW!! A beautiful village and pub in gorgeous Cotswold stone and a warm, dog-friendly welcome. I couldn't believe how empty the place was! The food choices were excellently labelled (as I need to be gluten-free it was a major treat to have so much choice). The food did not disappoint! I chose the Sunday Roast; slow roasted (melt in the mouth) lamb shoulder, veggies and gravy (which was already gf - a bugbear of mine. Can't have a roast without gravy!) Beautifully presented food served at a perfect temperature and just the right amount of texture. I even opted for a dessert as there were decent gf choices again! The strawberry and vanilla cheesecake was divine - smoothly coating my whole tongue with flavour that lingered on. I took my time and relished each mouthful. I can't recommend this pub highly enough and I truly wish we had one exactly like this in my village. My compliments to the chef ❤️

Four of us attended the Antelope this week, for our 'pre booked' Christmas dinner. We arrived to a very busy carpark, good sign, seems it was 'burger night'. On approaching the bar to order drinks, we noticed water dripping onto the public bar from the ceiling above. When I pointed this out to staff, ' oh, she's having a shower, it always happens' was the response. No effort to clear up the area of the bar - nothing ?We were shown to our pre-booked table, that will be the one with Christmas crackers on it, and were encouraged to have our food straight away, despite being 25 mins early, ' because there are lots of people ordering burgers'. ?Starters promptly arrived, well when I say arrived, not all of them. The final starter was at least five minutes later arriving. Main courses again arrived promptly, however, again not in their entirety. The waitress, and I use the term loosely, because she had no concept of hospitality, explained that the seasonal veg would follow 'soon' ?Now at this stage, plates were barely warm and the food upon the plates was at best luke warm. The veg arrived a good eight to ten minutes later, by that time the food already delivered to us was cold, even the 'freshly' served veg was in a cold bowl and was itself not hot at all. I can honestly say, that describing our experience as 'woeful' is being kind,The young lady that served our meals, did refer to a 'chef' in the kitchen, I assure you, no respecting chef would serve up what we received !We could have complained on the night, but to be honest, the meal had been partially paid for up-front, and again, to be honest the level of service that we didn't receive, we decided to just put it down to a very bad experience and we got out of there. In fact we decided between us, that the one positive, was that we were out of there before nine pm, enabling us to stop off for a drink elsewhere. This is one establishment we will be avoiding in the future !!!

Well where do I start, what a total c--k up. Ordered two vegan butternut squash curries with Bombay potatoes, one vegetable wellington, Sunday dinner, asked for with no gravy and one butter roasted cauliflower steak with Parmesan potatoes and I requested no cheese Bon bons , instead I asked for a portion of seasonal vegetables, one hour twenty minutes later our order came, plenty of time to cook an amazing meal and plenty of time to read special requests .. NO we were told there was no butternut squash it would be substituted with sweet potato, so it was now sweet potato curry, nope we received sweet potato and new potato curry, with no Bombay potatoes. The vegetable Wellington came smothered in gravy, then the butter roasted cauliflower no no no it was not butter roasted at all, it was in my opinion and I'm not wrong , blanched cauliflower, torched to death with a blow torch, the taste of butane was awful, we did get the cheese Bon bons which we requested to be replaced by vegetables, .....we did complain and two of the meals were knocked of our bill, the potato curries which to be sure were dire . However we did have to pay for the blow torched cauliflower and the gravy soaked meal, ....if you don't like gravy that is not on, but to be fair my husband was that fed up waiting, he chose to tolerate it. We were told that the head chef was coping with a new menu, ......poor love I am assuming he put it together himself, like all head chefs do and he was dealing with new staff, double poor love . Get a grip mr head chef organise your staff and your kitchen and send out hot meals created and served with passion , or else you will loose many customers, on the plus side a lovely establishment beautiful decor .

Both times we were greeted by lovely staff who were attentive but not too pushy. Drank a few pints and polished off a bottle of wine on both occasions! It is quite unusual to find a pub that serves Sunday Roasts up to 8pm. Most close their kitchens in the afternoon. this is truly a village pub as after 8pm the locals came in for drinks. I hope they continue to support this pub as it is very rustic inside and pretty outside. Drinks were reasonably priced as was the food. This place is a little gem, with lovely staff, it's dog friendly, and has a really cosy feel to it. We sat outside and enjoyed the surroundings, whilst tucking in to a beautiful Sunday Lunch. I was very impressed by the quality of the food and the fact that everything is cooked fresh. Comforting, home-cooked, simple food. Nothing fancy or gourmet. The menu has a good range to choose from and there's plenty behind the bar to select! It isn't a cheap eat, but you know what you're eating is decent. I highly recommend a visit! Now we have discovered this country pub, we plan on redirecting our weekend walks to make sure we have to walk past for a bite to eat or drink.

Good pub with great pub food although prices for food a bit steep. Well located if you are visiting the nearby Aston Martin, JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) or Motor Museum. Toilet facilities inadequate for the size of the place and not well maintained...

This is a very nice pub with friendly service in a small village. Don't expect haute cuisine, but decent food and fairly priced. Also, it has lots of parking space. In summer you can also sit outside.

A friendly welcome and excellent food. The pub has been sympathetically restored and the bar area is still a proper bar (that welcomes dogs too). A great find!

The current owner has ruined the food, atmosphere and charm of this pub. It's a real shame since this establishment has real potential to be a fantastic country outing.

Had Sunday roast with my partner. Nice cosy atmosphere near the fire. Great attentive staff without being overbearing. I had the beef sirloin which melted in my mouth, the best I’ve tasted in a long time. My partner had the mixed meat roast which was equally tasty. Really good value for money as I’ve paid far more in the past for inferior roasts. Keep up the good work guys...we’ll be back!

Stopped here for Sunday lunch with the family as was passing through the area. What a lovely little pub, so glad we stopped by. The food was really tasty; we had the Sunday roasts, all the meat was really succulent and nicely presented. We're glad we ordered sides as that completed the meal for us. Really good service throughout our visit, all the staff really polite and good service, especially Laura who really looked after us! Will defo go back again soon!

We had lunch today at a time when the pub was inundated by a series of young people, eventually over 20 of them. We were sitting in their midst, feeling very much in the way, when the lady in charge of the bar suggested we moved into the next room where it was quieter. She even took the chair with arms that my disabled husband was sitting in! The young people were a really nice group, but, without us, they could spread themselves more.

We booked the new informal Christmas buffet for 12 to celebrate a birthday and it was really excellent. Hot filled turkey rolls filled with stuffing and thick white slices of meat and gravy boats to dip, platters of pheasant and cranberry sausage rolls in light pastry and warm mince pies (all delicious!). This was such a great way to celebrate, sitting in front of a log fire being served drinks and first rate food by really friendly attentive staff. Very highly recommended.

Visited for an evening meal between separate afternoon and evening visits at nearby Compton Verney House. It was a cold, grey, damp day, so arriving to find a blazing open log fire was especially welcome. Found the menu was both varied and interesting, and catered for a wide range of tastes. My companion and I are vegetarian, and we're both fed up with a bog-standard 'Vegetarian Lasagne' served as the only vegetarian option in many places. Here, we had no such worries. The food was excellent and plentiful, and good value, while the staff were attentive and diligent. We succumbed to one of their excellent desserts, too, and both left feeling we'd frankly stretched the buttons on our breeches, but with absolutely no regrets. On this occasion, we went there almost by chance: next time we'll make a point of going there.

We went to this cosy little pub as we were staying near by for our wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was great, the music, the food was very good, extra points for having gluten free desserts, always hard to find in pubs, but what stayed with me the most was how friendly all the staff were. They really made a great effort to make our visit the most pleasant.

Our club booked a table in the restaurant after an event at the British Motor Museum and the varied menu catered for all tastes. All of our meals were served in a relaxed but timely manner and the food leaned notably to the "Gastropub" following. There is a separate room for the restaurant that we used but we were told by the owner of the nearby B&B; we stayed at that they usually eat in the bar area which has a slightly less formal and more homely appeal. Definitely class apart from the usual pub fare.

The chicken burgers ordered, we both had to checked because we thought was pork, hand cut chips were frozen fries, we were not told this, salad dosed with dressing which was not required. A lovely smile when I asked for discount. Local pub, very disappointed.

We often choose the Antelope when friends come to visit as it really has something for everyone. It was the Saturday of the bank holiday when we visited and unsurprisingly the pub was very busy - luckily we had booked. Drinks were swiftly served and menus handed out as we were shown to our table in the upstairs restaurant which is ideal for families or larger parties. At quieter times its nice to eat in the bar. Good choice of food although prices are starting to creep up. Really enjoyed my unusual tuna steak nicoise, which didn't seem to have a lot of dressing but was very tasty. Steaks and fish went down well too and they are happy to substitute ingredients if you don't like something. Great selection of ice creams and sorbets alongside the regular desserts. Lots of beers on tap too, plus unusual gins and other spirits. Only downside - and not enough to take a point off - is that the loos near the front door are ready for a refurb.

We gravitate to this pub a couple of times a year, it is halfway between where I live and where my cousin lives and this is where we meet. The food is always excellent, freshly cooked and plentiful, they have a good selection of beers as well. This time there was a small issue as one of the meals got forgotten due to an issue with the till. But the way it was dealt with proved that customer service is alive and well and living quite happily at the Antelope Inn. Sincere apologies were made and the meal was delivered late but stricken from the final bill without any need for us to complain. it is a shame that more establishments don't deal with things in the same way.

Booked a table for 6 people at 7:15pm. Got there at 7:10 and after standing around for 10 minutes, we got sat down in the bar area. Waited another 10 minutes for put drinks orders to be taken. Given menus and waited another 30 minutes for food orders to be taken. Finally got taken to our table at 8:20pm over an hour after our booked time. Finally our food can e at 8:50pm… food was great albeit very small portions. Fish curry was good but the world’s smallest amount of rice. When the bill came the service charge was already on there. Our group personally do not like this as we prefer to give a tip for the service and the food NOT on the percentage of the overall food & drinks. Sorry to say that eating over 1 & 1/2 hours after table was booked is pretty poor. Whilst the place is lovey the service was slow. Either hire more staff including more chefs or take less bookings.

What an fabulous pub! This is what a true English pub looks like, feels like, smells like! Amazing...log fire, real beer, professional staff. The pub has so much history , from the date of the building to the contents around the pub. I enjoyed a fine cigar out front, below it's famous Mulberry tree, enjoyed a great pint of Guinness whilst listening to an Owl in a tree opposite the pub. A must place to visit...

Such a lovely old building, very friendly and welcoming staff, with one particular lady who couldn’t do enough, carrying my heavy case upstairs (thank you). The true highlight was dinner in front of the log burner, with the best steak pie I have ever eaten! I’ll remember this place for a long time and will definitely be back!
