My friend and I went to the Anglesey Arms this afternoon for lunch. We both had the steak and ale pie and it was absolutely delicious! 10/10! Staff were very lovely, spot on service. Will absolutely be back again for that lovely pie! And the amazing service is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We've been to the Anglesey Arms many times over the last few years, usually just for a drink. When the weather is kind we usually sit outside but have noticed that the outdoor areas have slowly become more neglected and scruffy. On our last visit we sat inside, but sadly the theme continues in the main bar. Our table was horribly sticky and the seats were either ripped, grubby and stained, or both. I suspect we're not the only ones to have noted the decline, as the pub has seemed less busy in recent months. Can't comment on the food as haven't eaten here for some time, but won't be giving it a try again until standards improve.

The Anglesey Arms is basically a pub with rooms rather than a hotel. However, it suited us as a one night stop when returning with friends from a holiday in Ireland. Our room was small but comfortable with very nice tea/coffee facilities in the room. The bathroom had a nice shower and heated towel rail. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with a very impressive menu and tasty food. Breakfast, whilst with limited cereals and fruit, had very good freshly cooked hot food. Service was attentive and friendly from all the staff. Overall, a very pleasant stay and excellent value.

We met friends for lunch, we have always had a good lunch here, but today (17th), I was very disappointed with lunch. Three of us ordered the roast beef ciabatta with fries, and one ordered a burger. The person who brought the dishes out, brought out 3 steak ciabatta’s which is not what we ordered. The person offered to take them back and correct the order, but obviously we would have had to wait for the food to be corrected, which would have meant our other friend would have been eating. We decided to go with the steak, the steak was fine, however, the fries were of a very poor standard and were hard as though they had been cooked and left to stand, the ciabatta’s were also quite poor. I am not one to usually complain and eat a lot on the island at different eateries, but being a hotel and have standards to set and keep and also the fact we have eaten here before, I have felt it necessary to put a review on.

Highly recommend. Took our 2 dogs so dined in the bar area which was perfect. Staff very friendly. I never eat pies, particularly when dining out BUT their famous 3 cheese and onion pie is amazing: Light, very, very tasty....wanted to buy one to bring home but they do not retail them. My husband had the belly pork on black pudding mash; again very tasty and would recommend

Amazing service — everyone was so friendly and helpful, and our server for the evening, David, was great! Food was lovely, especially recommend the Porchetta (roast pork belly) and the Toffee Apple Waffle Crunch, which was delicious. It’s also dog friendly; we brought our border collie with us, and she enjoyed lots of treats and attention from staff! A wonderful warm atmosphere, a stunning looking pub with a great garden too. We had a great evening!

The staff here are superb! We received a very warm welcome and then the restaurant staff were friendly and responsive, quickly checking if there were any issues with the dishes and our dietary requirements. The food was well prepared and tasty. Our room was a bit small and warm but this was a minor issue in an otherwise very enjoyable stay.

Visited for sunday lunch today with fiance and my my son. Ill start by saying the cauliflower cheese and red cabbage were really nice. Asked when ordering if the meals came with pigs in blankets and stuffing as we chose the ham, and told yes, all adult meals come with both. When the meals came without the pigs in blankets asked for them, to then have them brought out and told I could pay for them later. After explaining what we were told when I thought all was cleared, got an appology, but later when my 12 year old son went to order a dessert he was asked to pay for the pigs in blankets! Shocking. Also, advertised as unlimited yorkshires but when went up to ask for some more they never arrived. Brocolli was the smallest ive ever seen. Roasties not that nice, quite hard. The ham was ok, but probably the worst ive had in a roast, tasted more like bacon.

Went for Sunday Lunch with family 30th June and have to say that although the meal was tasty, the portions have seriously reduced in size since we last ate here !! Gone are the oval plates, one desert spoon of mash, 2 small roasties and 1 small piece of broccoli, shocking to think what we paid, definately NOT value for money in such times of austerity !! We are local and frequent the restaurant regularly however we won’t be rushing back as there are plenty of alternatives venues in the Town !! Service in the Bar was not great either one staff behind the bar and complaining she was on her own, overall the whole place needs a massive upgrade inside and out !!

I came last week as part of a friend's birthday celebrations for Sunday roast, the beef roast was lovely with a generous portion of meat and veggies I also had the cauliflower cheese which was a very nice addition. Although the food was great the staff came across very rude, when ordering being snappy and on delivery of the food had a face like thunder dumping the plates down. I understand that they may have had a long and busy day but that isn't the fault of the customer.

A group of us have met here for lunch several times in the past and enjoyed our meals. On this occasion we were however disappointed. My wife and I had steak and chips and peppercorn sauce however that was it! Though the steak was cooked to our preferences , we were expecting a bit of greenery on the plate ie. salad, cucumber, coleslaw, maybe a slice of tomato or two but nothing!!! I thought the the waitress might have brought something else to the table, I asked if there was anything else she just said no sorry! The presentation of the meals was nil !!! The other two members of our party had coq au vin. The chicken was tough and though they were lucky enough to have veg with their meals the broccoli was undercooked. The part of the meal we enjoyed the most was the prawn cocktail and the coffee! It will be a long time before we return if at all!

We tried to eat here today but ended up sat in our car with a view of the bridge eating a delicious car picnic purchased from Waitrose next door. Felt less than welcome before we were told in a rather blunt manner that if we wanted to eat in the restaurant with our small dog we had to leave the building and walk through the car park, go up some steps and enter through the conservatory. Our family of five including granny with dodgy knees then trudged around the back only to find the conservatory door locked and no one in sight. Didn’t feel inclined to walk back to the front to complain about the terrible service.

Great evening with friends for New Years Eve. Food was ok considering it was so busy. Shame there wasn't more choice on the menu. We all had a roast dinner. After dinner we were asked to sit in the lounge which had a great atmosphere. The decor was very nice. It was our first visit here and we were pleasantly surprised with how modern it looked. There is a lovely garden to the side and we will definitely be returning in the summer for drinks outside. Lots of parking which is next door to Waitrose at Menai. Staff were nice and friendly. I rate it 8.5 stars and well worth a visit.

We were looking forward to lunch at the Anglesey Arms but it was a massive dissapointment . All Glasses on our table of 6 were all dirty, in fact they were filthy with lipstick still on the edges ! Waitresses were poor to be fair , no enthusiasm whatsoever ever in any of them. They also didn't have much knowladge of the menu. Food went back as it was cold and the food was nothing special . Will not return again as I'm afraid its not up to standard in any department . At least two other tables were disappointed and said they would never return and they were locals to the area. Looking at other reviews I think a shake up is needed as its a shame because it has been great in the past when we have visited.

As the title of the review goes, the food was lovely but the service could do with some work. The restaurant when we arrived was not so busy. It was 6 pm and I could see a few empty tables. The staff looked miserable, which instantly rethink coming here, but I stayed, as I had been here before, and the food had always been good. We waited a while to get served. Again, there were quite a few empty tables, and the place didn't look that busy. When we received our food there was no question of whether we wanted any sauces, or where the sauces were located, including the salt and pepper etc. Also, no 'check backs' i.e. "Is everything alright with your food?" etc. Although the place inside was gorgeous, I just felt uncomfortable being there. It didn't feel welcoming.

We have been eating here 3 or four times a year for the past three years and it has never let us down. We discovered it quite by accident on a hot summer Sunday afternoon when staggering up the hill after a good walk we decided we needed a drink. We sat in the beer garden watching and smelling lots of tasty looking food being served to tables around us decided to check out their menu. Two of the family are gluten free and we were impressed by the choice on the menu, ok it was just a paper menu with gf marked on it at the time but we were just out of covid at the time. We then decided to book for later in the week. We were not disappointed. The portions were generous, gluten free was taken care of with ease and the food was great. So much so we booked again for the week after. Again service and food was great. We now make it a definite on our holiday meal out list - three or four times over a fortnight. The menu changes a couple of times a year and they now have a separate gluten free menu with plenty of choice. Prices are very reasonable portions are still generous and service is still great.

Stopped at Anglesey Arms for lunch and it was delicious, gammon was perfect as were the burgers. Portion size was perfect, very filling but not too much. Service was excellent and the covid restrictions were brilliant. Will come again!

I visited this pub last week and was a little underwhelmed by the experience. The staff were friendly enough, but the environment was uncomfortable. It was boiling with no windows open and lots of flies and other insects buzzing around. The food was pretty average....

I was booked into another hotel in the area with friends but, due to Covid 19 and a lack of single rooms, I was switched to the Anglesey Arms for three nights, which was very lucky for me. The stand out feature, for me, was the friendliness of all the staff which was noticeable prior to my visit, when booking a dinner for myself and my friends, and with the confirmation emails. It was the same friendliness when checking in and when I was frequenting the bar and restaurant. My friends were also impressed with the friendly and cheerful staff in the restaurant and with the quality of the food.My bed was as comfy as any I have slept in and the hot water was exactly that, which made having a bath, after a days golf , and a shower in the morning, a pleasure.Under Covid 19 changes breakfast is ordered the night before, so that in the morning a table is waiting for you and prepared accordingly. I chose the 'full grill' breakfast which matched a 'full english, and it was superb. The breakfast staff were equal to their evening colleagues. My friends were jealous as, unbeknown to them, the 'full' breakfasts, in their hotel, had been reduced to a bacon sandwich, 'due to Covid 19' !!All in all, a great experience. Thanks to all that made it so.

An excellent experience. My partner and I popped in after exploring the local town, there was a great choice of drinks, and a lovely atmosphere inside. Food looked delicious as it was presented beautifully, and tasted even better. I had the George & Dragon burger, and it was the best burger I have ever had. Not only was the food amazing but so we're the staff, very friendly and welcoming, at the end of the meal I forgot my phone, and they were kind enough to chase me down to ensure it was returned. I would definitely recommend.

Went out for breakfast as a group of 5. Firstly I will say it’s very cheaply priced. £10 for a full breakfast and chips including tea or coffee so normally I would chalk it up to you get what you pay for but it really would be better to charge a couple of quid more or knock off the chips to be able to offer a better standard. Very small, incredibly cheap sausage (it made ASDA smart priced sausages seem gourmet) a scraggy bit of bacon more fat than meat, a small spoon full of beans served in plastic pots. I ordered with no tomato but got no fried bread or black pudding. Another of our party asked for no black pudding and got no toast, another ordered full breakfast and got no hash browns so whoever was in the kitchen was pretty hopeless (we were the only ones in eating so it wasn’t busy) Like I said it’s very cheap in price but next time I’ll opt for going elsewhere even if I have to pay a little bit extra.

Customer facing staff is key to a pleasurable experience stay at any hotel though staff seemed to be demotivated and seemingly reflected that, in my opinion, of the general managers demeanour. Never had such a cold reception…. anywhere! Shame. Food nice enough as was accommodation. Sadly to add, my car which was parked overnight and was subjected by those who insist on wearing hoodies in the twilight hours collecting car badges by the use of screwdrivers! Not the fault of the hotel but just added to the forgettable experience. Choice is always yours!
