We visited early Saturday evening, such a wonderful experience. Great food, served in a timely manner and fantastic service from Toni who made us feel very welcome. The addition of a small soft play area was a hit with our children too.

This was our first time here and we was impressed with the roominess of the restaurant. The food was very good as was the service , we really couldn't of asked for anything better. We will be returning here again and looking forward to it.

Took my grandchildren here for lunch. Superb service, lovely food, great fun. We will definitely go again. It was recommended to me and it was apparent why.

My partner and I had a fantastic meal at the Angels today, Freshly cooked and tasty, Staff very busy, but attentive. We will definitely be back.

Mothers day family meal for 6 of us, Brittany and her staff were very attentive and service was quick. Came in to check on us when needed and a pleasant experience all round. Set menu prices slightly high but service was spot on within the soft play table area.

Lady who is working today is so rude this is not the 1st time we have experienced this with this lady. Even 2 ladies came to bar after us even noticed her attitude to them aswell. She def needs to update her inperson skills. If you don’t like your job quit as working with public you def need bubbly personality not the grim reaper. Quality of our drinks was nasty aswell so won’t come here again which is shame as live close by

Found The Angels online as it was halfway into our journey. It has good reviews & an indoor softplay area which was exactly what we were needing on a wet “be-twixmas” day. We received a warm welcome despite not booking a table in advance. The staff were super friendly. Unfortunately we only had 1 hour to eat & go to make it to our final destination on time but there was a long wait on food. It would have been given a warning or updates, meaning we had to chase up our food order, “wolf it down” (it was yummy!) and take our desserts to go to make it on time. The toilets weren’t the cleanest either sadly. The Angels had the potential to be great - maybe caught them on an off day?

While it's billed as dog friendly it's not dog tolerant (just). We had booked and was welcomed at the door. 3 adults, three kids and a small fog to dit in thd play area. We were shown to our seats and some 35 mins later asked to move as dogs are nog allowed in that part of the pub. They need to be on the hard floors. Please note the play area had hard floors. We moved to the main area. Our food arrived 45 mind after ordering and my chios were cold and yhevsteak tough. When I asked for cutlery you would have thought I had asked for the keys to yhe safe. Not a pleasant visit.

Daniel the manager did his absolute best to accommodate us and our two children, despite the fact that they were short staffed and busy. Being in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere made our whole experience a very good one. The dessert was amazing!! Would highly recommend!!

My granddaughter and grandson had their 4 th birthday party at the Angels. Their parents booked out the soft play area. The children made their own pizzas. It was great fun and very relaxing for the adults. The staff were lovely.

Good food and friendly staff I was served by a lady named Kate. I ordered the ultimate grill special, she informed me that they were out of Gammon However I could replace it with extra chicken. This showcased her professionalism, and positive engagement. There was also another server, whose name, I sadly cannot recall (he was wearing a grey jumper) who made a funny joke when he delivered me my large plate of food and asked if I was hungry, which I found humorous. He was also a positive experience and showcased professional service. In the short management and staff provided exemplary service and the food was well priced and delicious

We had my mum’s wake at the pub on 17th Oct and it was great. Staff were very respectful and nothing was too much trouble. Food and drinks all very good and they boxed up leftovers. Very good value for money. Lots of space and loads of parking. Very near to crematorium. 10/10.

Came for coffee with family for half term with kids. John was really helpful - we hadn’t booked, but he quickly found us a table though. Kate was great with cookie decorating for the kids for Halloween, with donations going to a great cause! Will definitely return!

Great place for keeping the kids entertained and the food is spot on Daniel made sure we was happy at all times and looked after us !!!!

My brother in laws wake was held here and the food was first class, plenty of variety, the sandwiches were packed with a selection of fillings. There were delicious hot breaded chicken, a few bite sized fish dishes and a few bite sized desserts. We were given an area of our own. The staff were great at topping the food up. I would highly recommend holding an event here.

I visit the Angel regularly- its perfect for my two young boys and normally the service is good. However, today as it was very warm inside I took the boys out into the park. I told the waitress that I would be outside and I left all my belongings on table to reassure her that I would be returning. The waitress came out to the park and told me that I had to settle my bill as the manager was fearful that I would 'do a runner'. As if this wasn't bad enough she escorted my mum to the bar to pay the tab. We were planning on staying for lunch and was not ready to settle the bill. I am disgusted and appalled that they questionned my integrity and made us feel like criminals. I am regular customer but after this incident today I will not be returning.

The place is lovely and relaxing we arrived just as a huge table of 40 arrived so we did have to wait hour for our food but the young gentleman called oliver i think who served us was polite and friendly and the pressure of serving customers and delivering food was polite and well mannered I would say please get more staff as I can stress from the workers as I can see not enough staff for the rush hours but we'll done to all staff for coping woth the stress and rush

Went with my boyfriend and took my nieces and nephew, they loved the soft play it was brilliant! Lots of noisy kids but what can you do. We felt like a pain as we kept moving tables as others was booked up, we had a lovely waitress Hailey (I think her name was) help us, very friendly and helpful and even though very busy kept a smile on her face and so did everyone else :) was a half hour wait on food but it came fairly quickly, food was lovely and we definitely will be returning for date nights. Thank you guys!

Never been before and it most certainly won’t be the last. I went in with my mum and grandparents for a bite to eat/drinks and it was lovely. Was a little sad they didn’t have ice left for the drinks but it’s not a big deal. Our waitress who was Scottish can’t mind her name was so polite and cheerful she made our experience delightful. Would highly recommend.

The Angels is my local and I always enjoy my visits there. Good food, lovely atmosphere and great people. However, my lunch with friends on Friday 21 July was very nearly my last visit ever. Not because of the food or service but because I ordered a steak dinner and promptly managed to choke. John (the manager) literally saved my life by performing the Heimlich manoeuvre. If it weren't for John, I would not be here to write this review. So John, thank you once more. You're a hero :) (This is no reflection on the quality of the steaks, by the way. They're excellent. Just remember to chew).

Pricey but the staff, Owen in particular, made for a pleasant experience. Owen took our orders politely and efficiently.

Really slow service, waited about 5 mins to be seated, 10 mins to order our food and drinks, then 50 minutes for our food. They do cater for gluten free and dairy free - I ordered a pizza but it was hardly cooked. Staff were so slow and it wasn’t even busy. Hoping that we caught them on a bad day however I won’t be coming back again to find out! If you want decent food just drive a further 5 minutes to the Radcliffe Arms

Everything great as usual except very, very slow service with the exception of the main course arriving quickly, but from then on things changed. The waitress was lovely but didn't know the difference between lager and ale, nor what ale they sell. That's absolutely not her fault, it's down to not enough training. Also it appeared she was the only waitress working that day, and there was a large children's gathering going on. Again, not her fault. There was a lady who greeted us when we came in who seemed as though she was in charge, perhaps she should have given the waitress a helping hand as there appeared to be quite a few bar staff. I'm not sure if we'll be going back again, for a while.

Cannot thank John and the team on Monday 4th April as had 2 hungry kids and they really wanted to use the play area at The Angels'. John made a table available despite a birthday party happening at the time, and food and drinks came out perfectly on time. Would highly recommend this place with or without kids.

Great experience with my daughter's Pizza party for her 5th Birthday, all the kids had good fun making their pizzas and playing in the soft play and I enjoyed it too, thanks to the helpful and nice staff that make it stress-free.

We went for a Sunday lunch for my Dads birthday. Value for money was very reasonable and the sharing platters were served with plenty of food for 2. My dads east pork was quite try, however still edible. We ordered a second round of drinks that took quite a while to come out, meaning we had to change one of them due to our desserts coming out before them. Apart from that, the service was good overall. We had 3 children in our party aged 5 and under, who had a great time playing in the soft play area.

Went here for a meal to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. There were a few patrons there but to be honest the place was nearly empty but it was a Tuesday night and families were at home. The place is great for families as they have a playground for the kids.The food was delicious, I had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The others meals I'm told were excellent to. The staff were so friendly, helpful and really went out if there way for us. The young lady who seemed to be in charge needs to be employee of the month, brilliant people skills.Would defy go here again for a meal or even just a drink or two. Really recommend

We visited this evening for my mother in laws birthday meal. We was welcomed into the establishment and given a really nice area to sit in. The 3 older children was able to play in the soft play area. We had drinks food and pudding for four adults and four children and I can’t praise them enough. I have four children two of whom have special needs and sensory overloads. I unfortunately didn’t catch the mans name who dealt with us but I believe it to be “John” he went above and beyond to make sure we was all comfortable. Unfortunately my youngest son had a sensory issue and John? worked quickly to help without needing to and brought him out some similar food but in a different shape. These things may be little to others but to us it meant my son was able to eat a meal at a new place and fully enjoy the food without having to worry. I can’t thank him enough! This is literally a ten minute walk from our area and we’ve rarely visited before and never for family meal! We will surely be back and visit much more often! Thank you so much! It was a pleasure

The staff went out of there way to make sure we were happy . They knew how to talk and treat children with special needs including finding the youngest one something to eat that he liked and was not on the menu . They were friendly helpful and caring . The meal was hot tasted lovely . Plenty of choice for all would definitely go back again.

Booked a table this morning for a late lunch with toddler and baby due to their soft play area. Got a reservation saying booked from 3-5pm. Food and service was good up til about 10 past 4 when a waitress said that our table is booked by someone else from 4.30. We did t mind this too much, but I was still eating at that point and my toddler was supposed to have his dessert as part of the meal deal. Ordered and paid and 10 minutes later (before the dessert had even arrived) were told could we move now as the other table had arrived early. We were offered a different table after waiting around (away from the soft play area). This turned out to be a high bar table which doesn’t work for toddlers and babies. We ended up leaving very annoyed instead of happy with our experience. The waitress was very apologetic and I understand it’s not her fault. But management should really avoid overbooking their tables as it just feels like a money making scheme trying to get as many customers in and out.So just really annoyed T being rushed

Met up here with a friend and her toddler, attracted by the soft play for the little one. He had a great time but as with other reviews the service is shocking. Waited so long to be served. Went up to the bar instead only to be told someone would come to the table soon. Everyone in our party of 4 contracted norovirus after our visit….hopefully just a coincidence but this place is seriously let down by the service by long waits to order and in between course

Terrible service here now. It never used to be this bad. We attended on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't particularly busy. Despite being told we had a waiter, we were left for 20 minutes before we literally had to grab someone to the table to order a drink and some food. It must be a nightmare here if its busy. Better places in Hitchin.

First time going last Friday and absolutely loved it! Atmosphere is great,manager is super friendly and chatty,staff are friendly and food was yum! Soft play is fantastic value for £2.50,my daughter had a blast and was safe,what more could a mum want! I managed to eat my lunch with my friend and enjoy it while it was still hot whilst being able to see our girls playing so happily! Thanks guys x

Despite pre ordering when booking, we waited over an hour for our meals.  We had to go and get staff from the bar on 2 occasions to ask to order drinks.  Having ordered sharing platters, advertised as "bottomless veg/potatoes" when requesting more (as the portions were tiny) we were informed there were no more available.  We then had to sit with empty plates for 30 minutes despite requesting them to be cleared, in the end we moved our own plates to an empty table.  When the desserts arrived (all at different times) the ice cream had already melted.  When disputing the bill at the end - the waitress and "manager" were extremely unhelpful and rude, with the manager even raising her voice at my 85 year old nan!! It seems like the pub is run by a team of inexperienced kids, who need some lessons in basic levels of customer service. Honestly the worst service experienced - I would avoid at all costs if you're after a nice Sunday lunch!!!
