Stumbled across this fab cafe whilst walking along the canal from Limpley Stoke. It has fully embedded gluten free options which is a rare find. Apparently they have a gf food stall at the Bath Christmas market. Banana, chocolate and walnut cafe with a coffee was great. Marshfield ice creams there too. Full meals served too.

Very disappointing visit, having read all the recent great reviews, we were looking forward to the visit We had tea and bacon sandwiches. At £7.95 for each sandwich, we were expecting a lovely treat, the bread was cheap, pre-sliced bread, no butter, no sauce, none offered and none to be seen. The bacon was nice and crisp but with the cruddy bread and no butter or sauce, the whole thing was dry and unappetising. I was also charged £2.75 for a single black earl grey mug of tea. The whole thing was very over priced and totally underwhelming. Very disappointed.

A mixed bag. My partner's chicken chorizo salad was fine, but my fish goujons and chips largely lacked an ingredient...fish. Both chips and goujons were over fried, not such a problem for the chips, but the goujons were hard, and the fish appeared absent from all but one of them.

Consideration should be given to a lot of these reviews being outdated. I think this is a decent cafe. Stopped here for ice cream for the kids after a long canalside walk, and to be use the cafes very clean toilets. All the food that went past us to other tables looked well presented, lots of seating upstairs, downstairs and outside tables being regularly cleaned and cleared. Cakes, pasties and pastries all in offer as well as sandwiches etc, though we didn't have any hot drinks there was plenty to choose from. The cafe thrives on being in a unique spot and is a sight for sore eyes and feet after a long day, and while I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, i don't think it was overly expensive and is a joy to visit.

Fabulous setting for lunch and snacks where you can dine in right next to the Somerset Coal Canal and a short distance from the Dundas Aqueduct. Staff are friendly and efficient. Food was tasty and nicely presented. All in all good value for money. Had simple lunch, homemade beef burger with all the trimmings and my wife had a chicken burger. Food was of high quality with each burger served in a sourdough bun. Thanks Angelfish staff for making our short stay some memorable. Ice cream, cakes and pasties look very tasty too but just too much choice for one visit. We will be back. Highly recommend for snacks and lunch.

My wife and I stopped here on our way back from Bath. I could not fault the food at all. Nice coffee, hot chocolate and apricot flapjack. However l feel that customer service could be improved. The manageress or owner seemed under pressure as it was quite busy. We had our food and drinks upstairs and as it was busy decided to be helpful and take our tray back downstairs so the table would be free for other people. As there was nowhere to put the tray I put it on top of another tray which was on top of a highchair. The manageress then came over and gave me a 'look' to which I said there was nowhere to put the tray. She said 'well it would easily be knocked off of there Sir' and walked away. I was only trying to be helpful. I don't like to mention mental health but as someone who sufferers from anxiety and depression this incident is still playing on my mind 48 hours later. If there is a next time I will leave my tray on the table.

I am not one to come on here and slate an establishment - I prefer to leave a positive review where needed. However, we visited The Angelfish for a drink whilst staying in Bath for the weekend. I ordered a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallow and when I went to take a drink, noticed a black specimen on the top of the drink. When I dipped my finger amongst the marshmallows and took it off, to my disgust I realised it was what looked to be a mouse dropping. My partner took the drink, along with the specimen to the lady serving at the counter who simply took the mouse dropping off the saucer where I had wiped it and presumed the problem was solved - GROSS. My partner was obviously horrified and asked for a completely new one which she did provide along with an apology but I don't feel as though this problem was addressed in at all the correct way and I certainly wont be returning.

This cafe is in such a lovely location, really picturesque and perfectly set by the canal. Sadly the reality is that if you end up at this cafe its because there is nowhere else in walking distance. What really got us was the lack of consistancy in price. For example, a burger seems fair at £8, as does £2 for a bowl of chips but £7 for a jacket potato? Thats £3-4 quid off what you would expect, and then a flake for your ice cream at 30p is fair, but £2 for the tinest single scoop (and they were so stingy) is pushing it and £4 for 2 tiny scoops is just outright robbery

A chilly but bright December morning brought us and the dog to this cafeteria by the old Somerset Coal Canal, a stones throw from the Dundas Aquaduct on the Kennet and Avon Canal. The immediate sight was of some hanging baskets that were well past their best. Take the things down. It detracts from the appearance of the place. We ordered coffees and I was happy with the interior of the place. Smart and modern. Looked clean. A good range of items on the menu too. Coffee was OK. We then walked along the canal towards Bathampton with the dog, and arrived back for lunch. This time we chose the sweet potato soup. Pretty expensive at £5.50 a bowl which included 2 small slices of French bread and butter. After a longish wait (20 minutes) it arrived and was hot, so a bonus I guess. We had to sit outside because of the dog, and the furniture was pretty good, but wiping the seats down at start of day would be a good customer service to provide. Most of the seats were pretty wet after the previous nights rainfall.

We stopped at the Angelfish on the way home from Bristol, we needed to stop for some breakfast. The decor was a little underwhelming, the toilets not in the cafe were cold but clean, the breakfast's themselves were I feel really expensive so my partner and I opted for breakfast baguettes of sausage and egg. Our eldest daughter wanted egg on toast, the reply we got was it wasn't on the menu and Sasha couldn't have it. I will say I found this a little inflexible, they offered beans on toast could they have not substituted the beans for an egg? We eventually found an alternative on the menu, when the breakfast's arrived, I felt our baguettes weren't fresh that day, our daughters rounds of toast were burnt, (see photo) we scraped the toast as we were on a tight schedule. Personally I think for the money my partner paid it just wasn't good enough and it seems the Angelfish is aimed at canal boat owners willing to pay premium prices because of it's location adjacent to the canal.

This place is advertised from the canal so we took a walk over while filing up our narrowboat with water but unfortunately it was closed at 10.30 on a Saturday morning with no opening times to be seen. We saw that they did cream teas so we thought instead we might pop in on our way back to Bath in a few days time. On Wed afternoon 3.30pm we were approaching this place again and my dad ran on to see if they had enough cream teas for 6 of us. Unfortunately they told him that they'd run out of scones but he could see they did cakes so he came and got us and we all walked over. Unbelievably, by the time we got there, just before 4pm, they were closed, knowing that 6 people were on their way. We knocked on the door and a girl answered who had spoken to my dad shortly before. We asked why they had shut and why she hadn't told my dad they were shutting soon. She just said they shut when they don't have any business.Perhaps they don't have any business because they're always shut! If you're on the canal, don't waste your time, unless you need to use the toilets next door.

Видимо, эти барашки - это не мясо на ножках, а шерстяные друзья владельцев кафе и их будущие носки. Кафе небольшое, но есть 2 этаж. Мы взяли жареную говядину с картошкой. Нормально. When we arrived a 12.30 we were happy it was not too busy. It was nice weather so we sat down at the terrace. I went in to order and had to queue for 25 minutes because there was only one person behind the counter making coffee and cutting pastries and I assume only one person in the kitchen. The guy from the counter also had to deliver the food at the terrace and worked hard to be efficient but without success. The coffee and the pasties were of very average quality not worth waiting for! Lucky when I came back to my wife she enjoyed the sun and the view.

If you want an ice cream or a cool drink whilst you walk along the canal, this place is great. Otherwise don't bother. The service is poor, the food is nothing special and the whole vibe is a bit worn down and sad. It is a real shame because it used to be cute and quaint, now it's just tatty.

We came here for breakfast and found it to be expensive and rubbish. My sister asked for the bacon roll to be on toast and the guy said he didn't think the chef would do it?? I asked for the scone and clotted cream, they served the scone and said there's no cream, I said I don't want the scone then and he got in a huff! I ordered toast and jam at 2 quid? expensive! We were plagued by wasps outside at every turn so we couldn't relax. They have an awful way of serving the food, we were not given a number for the first order just the second but we weren't told that he had placed a number on the tray so he carried the food up and down shouting a number until we finally asked what food he was carrying. We saw it happen to every person who had ordered food. We won't be recommending this place to the people who frequent where we were staying.

Turned up for a breakfast - there were only two customers but they could not be bothered to serve us - do you actually want to make money - clearly no! Basically crap in every way

We lasted visited the Angelfish a few years ago and thought it to be a great place for a lunch by the canal. It seems that wear and tear have taken their toll on the place. It's very tired now and sadly the service and food are also lethargic. There is little to recommend this establishment apart from its location. Some tlc in all areas would not go amiss.

This canalside cafe restaurant is a handy oasis for walkers, cyclists and boaters on a pretty stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal. On a warm sunny Monday lunchtime it was getting busy when we arrived at 12.30. We got friendly service from the lad behind the counter but as he was also serving ice creams and making coffee he was starting to get pushed. I started to fear this was going to be one of those long wait for moderate food places. There's a wide choice of menu - more than you'd usually expect in a cafe. I opted for the 'homemade' cheeseburger and fries; my wife had a healthy option - baked potato and salad. Fortunately it arrived quicker than I feared and - even better - it was actually pretty good. My burger was certainly home made -big, thick and flavoursome. Only disappointment were the chips; plenty of them but they were the thin Macdonalds type and lukewarm. (If I'd been in MacD I'd have sent them back knowing hot ones would appear in moments. Here I thought I'd persevere). My other half enthused about her baked potato and chosen fillings and even more about her sizeable salad which she called 'very imaginative'. At £7.50 and £6.50 they were good value too. An excellent lunch in a nice spot and rounded off by a couple of 'proper' ice cream cornets to sustain us on our walk back.

I've given one star for the location but the food is bland and the staff, well bland seems to describe the service as well. The opening hours are a bit odd we ended up waiting until 10.30 for breakfast which we did because we were starving (wish we hadn't bothered).

Fab setting, lots of seating, cheerful red umbrellas, clean loos just such a limited menu - had stodgy salmon fish cakes that were 99 per cent mashed potato and tasteless, no flavour at all - my friend has an omelette that looked like leather - ( did not want to taste!!) - so please, for such a beautiful spot, get the food right and you will have a winner on your hands

We cycled the Two Tunnels route anti-clockwise and discovered this cafe by the Somerset Coal Canal museum. It was a serendipitous lunch as the heavens opened within minutes of our arrival, and the lunch was pretty good too!

We visited the café after a Sunday afternoon stroll along the canal. I have been here numerous times before and the food and service has always been great. Today was different. The staff were not very dynamic and didn't seem to care that there was a long queue of people waiting to be served. The lad serving also seemed to find it necessary to chat to his mate in the kitchen between serving customers. We waited 15 mins to be served only to be told that they are not doing hot food, in the most curt and dismissive tone.

We did a weekend of cycling along the canal around Bath and found this little place. We had a wonderful lunch, the fish pie was just so tasty, accompanied by some lovely fresh salad. We sat by the canal watching the little boats and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They had “run out” of quite a few things on the menu, but we managed to find dishes we liked so were not disappointed. We will certainly go back if in that area again.

We visited the Angelfish today for a family lunch before a relaxing stroll along the canal. The restaurant was virtually empty and only a small number of diners outside. Our three children requested pasta only to be told that there was none. They decided to have hot dog with chips instead from a very limited children's menu. My son's drink carton was out-of-date by 2 months and on returning it, they waitress realised all of the cartons in the fridge had the same date. A small apology and she went to another fridge to find one in date. Even the display carton on the counter was out-of-date! The portions were small (my children are 8, 6 and 2 and are not massive eaters) and not a vegetable in sight! My husband's plougmans was relatively generous although the salad accompaniments seem to have been reduced. After a further 2 or 3 couples, customers were informed of a half hour wait for a sandwich. There appeared to be an abundance of junior staff but clearly limited kitchen staff and inadequate lunchtime preparations. Overpriced children's food, poor service and no wish to return!

Nice casual canal setting and serving good decent sized portions of home style food. It was busy but service was very slow with problems taking the orders/paying. Perhaps they should add an additional person to cope with the lunch period.

Myself and friend came across it having driven from American museum in Bath which was closed.Very good service had pancake with seafood filling plus a very fresh side salad lovely freshly brewed coffee. My friend has special dietary requirement no rich sauces or dressing on salad waitress doubled checked this before giving the order to the chef. The food was delicious. It may be an idea to indicate where the menu is as you walk in the door as it seems to be just a drink and snack cafe until you look quite high up to see the menu not obvious!

Myself and seven friends stopped for lunch at the Angelfish whilst enjoying a day on a narrow boat on the Kennet and Avon canal. We had service with a smile and did not have to wait long to be served our meals. We received eight plates of delicious food without one complaint. The portion sizes were good, and everything was clearly cooked fresh to order. Meals we chose ranged from steak and onion ciabattas, omelette, baked potato, burgers and bacon and egg butties. The menu is fairly extensive though and the only menu is on two large boards in the cafe, so whilst reading and deciding a queue builds up behind you which puts one under a bit of pressure to order. All salad that was served with the meals was beautifully fresh, my steak was cooked medium which was lucky that is how I like it but I hadn't been asked, so let them know how you prefer it.. I would highly recommend a visit here, the place is quite small so may be advisable to book a table at weekends or in the summer months.

I don't know how previous reviews were so positive, the fish itself was dry and chewy, the batter was soggy and had an odd texture. The chips were also soggy. I have had chips here before and they were awfully soggy. Peasedown deserves better.

Had to wait almost 2 hours for a driver and got the food later and most of it was cold and didn’t get any sauce which I asked for
